Great sound system, but do I have to pay $35 for a plain, no fade, no lining, no fuss, no muss, haircut?

I went in for a TRIM and a young guy started cutting my hair. 30 minutes in to the cut, he says he’s a 15 year old sophomore in high school. I get worried. I end up sitting in the chair for an hour and 45 minutes to get a barely OK haircut. Used the thinning shears for a whole hour and thinned out my hair SO MUCH and it’s not an even length. Took off so much more than I wanted. Go to school and learn, get a barbers license, try again. Really disappointed.

I changed my son’s barber for over 8 years to coming here the past year. The owner/barber Sam is very good at what he does and pays close attention to detail. He is super friendly and always tries to accommodate you the best that he cans. The vibe is very chill and welcoming. One of his other barber’s - Ali - is also a very good and She definitely takes pride in her work and goes the extra mile for her clients. My son and I love them both and can’t see ourselves going anywhere else.

A few years ago, I cut off my hair with a pair of kitchen scissors. I looked up a barbershop near me in West Town and the Classic Man Barber Shop was the closest. I am a woman with hair that curls in a hundred different directions. In some places it’s thick and others it’s thin. What I’m tryna say is, it takes a smart and steady hand to get it together. So even though I made the trip, I was prepared with questions and I was nervous. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted by Sam, the owner. He sits up front, which I love because at the right times of day, the sun coming through that window is a warm and relaxing touch to a dope haircut. Sam listened to me tell him a vague notion of what I might want (with many specific instructions for what I don’t want) and he worked confidently with me at every step to make sure we were both on the same page throughout. I felt comfortable with him. In the end, I had a cut that made me feel like a boss. He just got me. I’ve been going back ever since. Recently the shop got some quirky updates like a tiki bar and an arcade style gaming system (with basically any game known to humankind on it). Sam makes sure clients feel welcomed, heard, and important in his shop. Him and the other barbers keep things light and fun. I waited for over a half an hour while nobody was in there. Then I was told it would be another hour until someone else could come in to cut my hair. Its $40 for a haircut not counting anything done with your facial hair. They also only accept cash/Zelle transfers which is also an inconvenience if you pay with a debit card. Will never try to get my haircut there again.
