I get my hair cut by Julio at Shine On and hes great. He takes his time and is extremely focused. Julio definitely takes pride in his work and I highly recommend him as well as Shine on in general. I am extremely pleased I found this place and would recommend it highly!

ALL. STAR. SERVICE! I got my hair and beard cut/styled for my wedding coming up this weekend and Ahmad made me look like a rock star! Mike was super helpful as well, telling me a bit about the style and product I could use. The shop is clean and modern, although I wish COVID wasnt happening because it seems like an amazing place to hang out and talk with the guys. I went from having long hair for 3+ years, taking a risk in cutting it off before the biggest event of my life, and the crew at Shine On made me feel (and look) like a million bucks. You got yourself a new client for sure!

Where to start, the place itself is super clean and the staff is very nice. My barber Mike was amazing. Barber skills were on point. My haircut and beard were both on “fleek”! I knew he was officially legit when he used a hot towel on my face and neck before lining me up with a razor. This is the necessary in order to prevent razor bumps and just overall discomfort when shaving/lining. He was recommended by a friend and definitely did not disappoint. If you need a 🔥 barber, this is the place to go!

Watch out! I booked a haircut at this place after seeing its positive reviews. When I arrived, I was placed with a barber. Halfway through the cut, he casually mentioned that he was training. I repeat: only after the haircut was halfway over did the barber mention that he was a trainee.The trainee proceeded to cut my hair unevenly, such that my hair looked nothing like the photo I showed the barber before the session began. When I asked a more experienced stylist to fix it, the more experienced stylist (presumably the owner) became noticeably angry and told me, as if he were annoyed that I wanted my haircut to be done to my liking, that they only provide 30 min intervals.Why did the person who booked my appointment over the phone not tell me that my hair would be cut by an inexperienced trainee? Why did the owner not mention something that anyone would consider to be important when deciding whether to get a haircut at his or another barbershop?When I went to pay, the receptionist asked me how I liked the haircut, to which I replied that it was sub par and disappointing. They didn’t do anything to fix the situation (do they not want new customers?). Shine On’s ownership/management is unprofessional and don’t appear to be concerned with providing a quality service or with retaining new clients.If youre reading this, save yourself the risk (as well as the money) and go to Funk’s downtown for a great cut and exceptional service. Professionalism and candor go a long way.

I’ve been going to Shine on for just about a year now. I found this gem of a barber shop as I now go to school in Chicago. Mike is very professional, cool, and very nice. However, he is even more so an amazing barber. Finding a barber has always been difficult for me as I am Asian, and Asian hair is difficult to cut. But, Mike has always been doing a wonderful job on my hair, and even does better every single time, which definitely shows how skilled he is. The shop is always spotless, and everyone is always cheerful and happy, welcoming guests like they are family. That being said, I am originally from Wisconsin, about 2 and a half hours away and even during the summer I venture down here to get my hair cut. That alone should paint the picture of how great this place is.

I have been going to Shine On for a little over a year now. They opened up their salon in my neighborhood so I decided to check them out and lets just say that I will never look for another barber again. Ive explored so many different barbershops and salons in the past only to never be 100% satisfied with the result. That changed with Shine On on my first visit.The first few times I went in, I let Mike experiment with my hair as I wanted to see what he could do with it. He did things with my hair that I didnt think were even possible! I have really curly hair and I never imagined that I would want to grow out my curls, but we are now on hairstyle #2 and I love it!Mike and his team are some of the nicest people youll meet. Very professional, talented, and creative. They make it easy to schedule an appointment through their website and offer a variety of services. Their salon is modern and trendy and they will make you feel welcome the moment you open the door.

The staff make you feel at home, a pre-cut bev if youre 21+. Javier took care on the hair and beard trim, lined up the .5 and took time to go over his work a few times and be certain the cut was fresh. Highly recommend the cuts from here.

I come here to get what I think is the best haircut in town. Noah cuts my hair and styles it so meticulously, I feel like Im wearing a piece of art. He is incredibly skilled and has an eye for which style works best for you. So if youre not sure what style to get, which was me in the past, you can trust him to make you look sharp. Veronica takes her time to thread my eyebrows perfectly, and for me thats really important because I have bushy eyebrows. I dont want feminine looking brows and she knows exactly how to clean them up.The salon has a barbershop feel but is comfortable and trendy, unlike most shops Ive been to. However, its not pretentious at all. Veronica asked if I wanted some coffee. I hadnt had my morning coffee yet so I gladly said yes. She brought me hot coffee and baklava while I waited. Mike is hands down the best if not one of the best barbers in Chicago! Having recently moved to the city I was in the need of a new barber but after trying several recommended barbers in the area I couldn’t find one that knew how to cut my thick hair to the quality I was used to. Shine On was a newly opened shop down the street from where I lived so I decided to give it a shot. Mike fixed my hair on the first day. He truly knows how to cut and style any type of hair. On top of that he is knowledgeable and listens to you. He has elevated my expectations of barbers and far surpassed any of my previous barbers. My only complaint is that there is just one of him because I won’t be going to anyone else from now on.

I am new to the area and I decided to check out the place with perfect reviews. Javier listened to all of my thoughts on what I wanted and did an amazing job. Although I have been getting tons of compliments, they are all from my girlfriend. I think she thinks she is cheating on the old me with the new me, but I am the same guy. Im partially kidding. I am though not kidding when I say I am very happy with the result and will be coming back. Very detail oriented and made me feel comfortable in a new look.

Went for a haircut and a facial. Mike did his thing with his magical hands were you always feel like a million bucks when you get out of the chair. The facial was superb I for have one have oily skin so its annoying keeping a clear face after getting the facial my face is glowing. Wow. I literally just left. Where do I begin. First of all, they have their own parking. Huge plus in the city. When I walked in I couldnt help but just look around at first. The place is really cool and well designed and extremely clean. My appointment was with Javier. I had a cut and a beard shave. Ive been to quite a few barbers in the city but I feel like I finally found my spot. I was greeted immediately when I walked in. The service was spot on. The prices were extremely fair for this quality of cut and service. I will definitely be back. Total gem.

Had my first beard trim and line up at Shine On today and it was incredible. I had gotten a beard trim at a local barbershop 2 weeks ago and it seemed like they were just concerned with getting me in and out of the chair. Javier at Shine On asked me every detail about how I wanted my beard and did an expert job of getting it exactly right. I will be back as soon as I need a shape up.

What a phenomenal experience. I went in and got the full Shine On Experience, and they did a great job. It was my first time getting a facial, mani, or Pedi, and Veronica was not only an expert at performing all three services, but she also made me feel quite comfortable as she did them.Since I went on a weekend, Tony was also working as a barber that day and he gave a great haircut, with close attention to detail for my hair. I have curly thick kind of coarse hair, and it takes a special I too have a good cut that looks good afterwards with low maintenance.I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and for guys that havent had a pedi they should certainly try it.
