REFUSE TO LET UHAUL MAKE YOU PICK UP YOUR EQUIPMENT FROM HERE. This is a review for the U-haul services. Learn from our story so to avoid having the same experience:This was not the location I requested to pick up the truck/tow dolly I ordered online to move from Chicago to Denver. When U-haul called to confirm the location and told me my requested pick-up location wasnt available, I expressed that I had concerns with this location (AJ Auto Solutions). I was told it was the only location in Chicago that had the equipment I requested (a 17 one way truck and tow dolly). This location was about 10 miles further than the pick up location that was requested.We arrived to pick up the equipment and the U-haul representative at the location could not focus on our order; he was answering customer calls, maintenance calls, and facilitating multiple customers from a broom closet in the back of an auto body garage that served as the U-haul counter. It took a lot of time to get out of there considering we were his primary customer at the time.We get home and the tow dolly lights werent working. So they sent us out to drive Chicago streets both UNSAFELY and ILLEGALLY. We called the location re: the broken lights and were told we had to drive back to the pick up location. So we use more of the miles included in our contract (and the gas) to drive back to the location again.This time the customer service rep was rude. He said U-haul owned the trucks, not him and thus its not his fault. Someone finally began the electrical repair work on THE TRUCK that needed to happen BEFORE the tow dolly lights/wiring would work. This took over an hour, though we were told about 5 minutes at least 4 times while we were there.While we were waiting for the repair work to be done, I called the U-haul 800 # to see if there was another location to pick up equipment. At this point, I had movers waiting for me that I had to pay for to sit and wait while we were at U-haul trying to get a working truck - the total value of more than $50. I explained the situation to the rep, she said shed offer us the $50 guaranteed refund for the equipment not being ready, advising me that it was tied to my email address and to follow up with the drop up location, then forwarded me to the reservation department to help search for a new location to pick-up.We wound up waiting for this location to finish the necessary electric work needed for the equipment to work properly. Now, Im in an escalated situation with U-haul to get the $50 equipment guarantee refund that is promised on their website and which I was offered when I called. SHOCKINGLY, this seems to be rooted in THIS LOCATION, I have been repeatedly told that the service location entered the pick up as received on time.Picking up our equipment from this location started our moving day off poorly; and now its a week later and Im left fighting with a giant corporation over a $50 guarantee policy.... while this location shrugs its shoulder and takes no responsibility.
