My car broke down on the side of the road one night. I got it towed to Eliot’s shop that night, and by 9am the next morning, Eliot had already diagnosed the problem and called me to inform me of the cost and to ask if I wanted to proceed. Price was reasonable, but i had several major repairs needed. Eliot had finished it by the afternoon. I was so impressed with the quick, quality service and professionalism of Eliot. I will be recommending him to others.

I had a nail puncture my back left tire during my commute to work. I live near Eliot’s Auto so out of convenience, I stopped in to see what they could do. Within 2 hours, Eliot’s team repaired my tire. The team is professional and timely and their work is done well. Just recently, my tire pressure light came on so I popped back over to have them check my air levels and without hesitation, Eliot told me to drive on in. 10/10 recommend Eliot’s Auto!

Eliot was amazing. My AC had stopped working a couple weeks ago, so I took it into the dealer to get it looked at. The dealer said it would be at least $1000 dollars and a couple weeks to fix it, so I took it to Eliot and he fixed it in an hour for ~$150. I’ll be going to Eliot for any car troubles in the future

Had an issue with my AC which i thought all that was required was an AC recharge. Brought it in to Eliot and he performed a full inspection and realized there was a leak.While the cost for the recharge itself was a bit more than a typical Jiffy Lube recharge, without Eliot and his staffs thorough inspection (included in the price), I would still have the leak that he repaired. Brought my truck in to have a misfire diagnosed. Eliot told me the repair needed to be an engine swap. I was far from home so he recommended it I get it done in my area, which was a nice customer-first suggestion.Few days later I got the advice to check my fuel injector, and the cause of the misfire was a faulty electrical connector on that cylinder’s injector. Replaced the connector and cleaned the injector and the engine is purring. No codes, no problems. Took me 20 minutes to pull apart my fuel rail and find that problem. Would’ve happily paid for the time if I had been given the correct diagnosis.So that’s thousands of dollars for an engine swap vs. a $10 part + time. Emailed about it via their website, no reply, big surprise.Props for being straight-up and quick same-day service. But the estimate was completely off the mark in a pretty extreme way, and no follow up. I guess being honest isn’t the same as being good.

I was in a bind with a flat tire. I had my car towed to Eliot’s because it’s close to me. I suspected they would replace the tire and charge me hundreds of dollars. Not the case. I walked in and Eliot was very pleasant. He fixed my car within a couple of hours and charged me $25. I was taken aback by his honesty and professionalism. Highly recommend.

They left the air filter sitting on the engine. My wife called first and was quoted a much higher price than me. They also changed out car settings. When leaving they told us were on a dangerous tires and said we needed to replace one that other mechanics told us are fine. On top of that they said we need to switch both front tires and the other tire was brand new.

I completely trust Eliots with my car. I have used them twice now. Once to repair an old battery and another time to replace my catalytic converter. Both times they were quick to answer my calls and give me updates on my car. They have good prices and great quality service. I will definitely be using them for all of my car needs!

I had a rattle in my car that I was concerned with. When I arrived at Eliot’s the staff listened to what my concerns were and were able to let me know what they thought the issue might be, the timing on how long it would take to fix and the estimated cost if their analysis of the issue was correct. I also appreciated the time estimate and that the staff also knew a local place I could work while waiting for the repair. The time estimate and pricing were spot on. I have taken my car to Eliot’s Auto since 2007. He really gives you an honest breakdown of what your car needs immediately, what it will need soon but not right away, and what’s optional. I never feel like I’m getting ripped off or told to do unnecessary work to my car, which I always felt at other places. He offers free loaner cars if you schedule a drop off in advance, and has even done free inspections for me before long road trips! I highly recommended Eliot’s Auto.

Eliot was fantastic and fast. I had to have my passenger side window replaced due to a break in and the starter replaced. He had both done within 5 hours and allowed me to use a loanetso I could be at work while the work was being completed. Such great service. Eliot was incredibly helpful in organizing a towing service to get my vehicle to the shop, and was very quick to diagnose the issue. Gave very fair pricing on the issue and had my vehicle back to me quickly. Never felt concerned they were trying to upcharge, find things that werent really wrong, or overcharging. This is a fantastic auto repair shop. Work is completed always in a timely manner and professionally executed. I like when the guy whos name is on the sign is also at the front desk. Eliot will tell you what your car needs and fix is for a competitive price. I Had my front and rear differential fluids changed as well as transfer case fluids. Also installed new shocks. They work quickly and so far the truck is riding great, 4x4 performing perfect. Will return and recommend to friends.

We used Eliot years ago with our VW and then we got a new car where it seemed like you had to go to that dealer because everything was so high tech and complicated. At some point I reached out to Eliot to ask him to install a bike rack for us. After talking with him it became clear that he could do everything the dealer could for about half the price! Now we go to him. The work is well-done, his prices are reasonable, and he’s located just steps from the brown line. So convenient!

Such a great job and from my dealings, never out to scam you. Going to my car dealer, they add up a lot of jobs that they deem important and need attention. So, I check with Eliot and he sites some good logic about what needs attention and what does not. This has saved me a lot of time and money!

Eliot really struck me as a genuine guy. He was more timely in keeping me updated on the status of the repairs than I ever would have expected, and he was incredibly speedy at making the repairs. The price was very reasonable too.He warned me about a few other repairs I will need to make in the near future, but made absolutely no attempt to up sell me on anything. The first time I dealt with Eliot was great though that was some years ago. I live south, so to tow my van there was some money. I get it the and when Elliot calls me to tell me about my van he has an attitude. I guess my van wasnt good enough for him to repair. He called me to tell me my car was not doing anything and to come get it. Thought you were a mechanic. The battery had died while it was in neutral for the long haul from southside to far northside. But he says its doing nothing. The tow truck who came and got it. Did me one favor before a gave it to him. He put a jumper on the battery and the car didnt start but it did try to turn over. Eliot didnt even try charge the battery, which even an alley mechanic would do. I guess because my van was a little old and I took out the driver side lock and inside door panel to get a key made cause I lost it, he just didnt want to work it cause hes to good to do it. FYI Mr. Eliot I would have paid whatever it cost to fix it. Just because I have color dont mean I dont have money. Have a great time would never recommend anyone to go there.Ron

Ive been going to Eliot for 7 years now. He always has time to explain my cars needs to me, he is honest, not condescending and clearly values professionalism. 6 months ago, my old Jeep didnt pass emissions inspection, and rather than take the many thousands of dollars it would have cost for him to do the necessary repairs, he convinced me to just get a new car. I have a lot of respect for that.

There a couple more things to be done later on but after discussing everything with Eliot I feel confident that I have the safe and reliable commuter car I needed. I’ve been coming to Eliot since 2008. I have had 2 cars during that time and he has always been good to my cars. I tired to go to another “reputable” (based on old reviews) mechanic and got taken for a ride. It makes one value integrity in ones mechanic. He just fixed an electrical problem in my car and changed the oil this week. I won’t be taking my car to anyone else despite living much further away from his shop.

Eliots Auto is truly what he advertises, an honest repair shop! I knew someone who had worked with them before, I saw he had great reviews overall (when dealing with the public, you cant make everyone happy for sure), saw a groupon and tried him out. What a great experience. Later I had gone to the dealer for an estimate of repairs that I assumed would be covered under warranty, well one was, and then they gave me a laundry list of other suggested repairs for hundreds of dollars, when my car only had 35,000 miles on it. took it to Eliot, he said they were crazy, recommended only a couple things that needed attention and saved me hundreds of dollars.If you are in the north side or even the loop, here in the city, I highly recommend using Eliots Complete Auto Repair for all of your car repair needs. Honesty & Convenience!My car broke down in a parking lot one evening. The next morning I made a call to Eliot. He arranged for a tow truck to meet me at my vehicle in 40 minutes. The tow truck arrived on time and gave me a ride with my vehicle to Eliots. Eliot set me up with a loaner car while they set to work finding out what was wrong with mine. Within an hour I receive a phone call telling me what they discovered and gives me the price for the repair. If a part is needed, he will tell me my options. If they find more than one issue, he will let me know what needs to be done immediately and what can be delayed. I decide what and how much I would like to have done. After I give them the go ahead, I receive a phone call when my car is ready to be picked up. Before the end of the work day, I return the loaner car and pick up my vehicle. You cant find convenience like this in just any shop!They are also located next to a train stop. So, my husband will take his car in when needed, take the train to work and pick up his car on the way home. No more waiting to find a good day to get your car maintained.

Only for the fans of reverse psychologyEliot is a pretty artful guy at cornering you. And probably his trainees as well. You walk in with one flat tire, they usually point out that that is not the only problem with the car. There are several problems. The car is having issues with a) other tires b) the axle c) the rim d) the oil e) brake or engine-related stuff. If the conversation goes person to person, theyll give you the kind approach. You wont get charged for this one thing, you will only get charged if that and that. And the stuff that they need to address it not emergent, but itd be wise to address the matters. If they arent an emergency right now, they will be.If the conversation occurs over the phone, they will approach it like: we were working on your stuff and weve just discovered that... And its bad! You should think about it. You ask: how much? - Well, so and so. Of course, you get suspicious: are you guys ripping me off? - No, we just want you to be safe. Since a) winter is coming b) this is a family car, not just your vehicle c) theres a reason the car is here, damage is started, it hopefully lead us to other important discoveries in the life of your car. And the life of your car is yours. And on and on, reverse psychology applied. At the end of it all: a huge bill (around $ 500 in my case) for two tires and other unidentifiable materials. I mean, who can guarantee you the stuff thats claimed to be changed is new, the handwork is actually handwork, not a little cleaning on the top and so on?Eliot knows whats valuable about his shop: location, classic American-like demeanor, attention to the customer. He knows it and exploits the heck out of it. And once the bill comes, out of you!

There two types of Yang that Im crazy about it - Eliots Complete Auto Repair Shop. If you want fast, reliable, honest and great prices then come here. They seem to be mostly a muffler which is why I came her. The service that was performed on my car was a new muffler, and a fixing a section of my exhaust pipe and welding on a new flange.

Ive been taking my 13-year-old Ford to Eliot for the last few years and he has it running like a champ! Eliot is a good guy as well as a good local business and mechanic. This was the first time i used him, but he has worked with my girl for years. She has nothing but great things to say about her experiences. Now it is the same for me.Yesterday I went to a auto repair shop down the block that I have used a few times. I thought I needed brakes, so I had them take a look. They are conveniently located so I can walk back and forth. They are a well established business with multiple locations. . They looked at my car (37k miles) and told me that I needed all my brakes done asap, as the pads were worn down to a dangerous level and that the rotors needed replacing also. $1150 quote, and they made me an offer of $890 if I did it then. I was shocked. So I called Eliot.This morning I took it to Eliot to look at and get a quote. He inspected them and told me I did not need brakes at all. There is plenty of brake pad left and absolutley no problems. He knew I had thought I needed brakes, and did not try to take advantage of that fact. He told me I needed air filters and my battery cleaned, otherwise the care was fine.If you need auto repair, go to Eliot and you will be treated fairly and he will tell you the truth. His work is good if you need it, and if you are lucky you might not need as much as you were told like me.

I was a little skeptical going to a Mom and Pop down the road, but I received a coupon in the mail and thought Id check Eliots out. I had gotten a quote from my dealership and Sears for replacing all my brakes and pads and Eliots beat both of them. I dropped the car off in the morning and it was ready that afternoon.
