Called Marvins this morning as a first time customer. Marvin told me hed have a look at my car and give me a free estimate for my brake issues and loud scraping I heard while driving. 15 minutes later, Im there and in short order they have a plan and an estimate. Marvin tells me to come back four hours later and itll be ready. I came back and it was ready for exactly the price promised. He showed me everything they did, and pointed out some extra stuff they did just because. Excellent service, excellent pricing, an excellent experience. Also, Lydia at the front was amazing and the shop cat was the best!Cannot recommend this place enough.

My husband and I have used this shop for years. Today is another reminder why. A month or so back, they fixed a loud rattle that happened whenever the car idled, which turned out to be a heat shield. A few days ago the rattle showed up again. There’s no way to know on my old car if the prior work failed, or it was a coincidence, or a new occurrence due to wear and tear driving Chicago’s potholey streets. I called it in about an hour before the shop closed on a Saturday. Marvin stayed late to fix it same-day, and voluntarily didn’t charge, even though I didn’t ask These folks really care about customer satisfaction. They’ve kept my beloved old car running well over 250,000 miles. Can’t say enough good things about them.

The whole team here is amazing. We came in a half hour before closing with a catalytic converter issue, just hoping to run diagnostics to confirm it. They stayed late for us when they didnt need to, which we appreciated so much. We were very happy with the price we paid...extremely fair! The car was finished right on time the next day, just as promised. Very happy we live around the corner. We will definitely be back for routine maintenance!

Finally found a mechanic that does great work. Marvin and his wife Kydia took excellent care of my car and got me back on the road in no time.

I own an Audi A4 and I shouldve never taken it to them. They replaced the timing belt twice and after a few months I have to replace the timing belt again. Marvin is a nice guy and an honest one, but this doesnt always make you good at what you do. If you own a German car and you are having problems with the engine, I suggest you to take it else where. For everything else, they did a good job and also it was less costly than in other shops.

Driving through the city looking for someone to take a look at my suspension. Finally, I tried Marvins Auto and by far exceeded my expectations. My wife and I have been going to Marvins for years. My infinity is now 13 years old and in those 8 years going to Marvins, (post warranty) I have had ONE repair in excess of $500. Marvin has always provided great prices and an overall experience. When I previously used the dealer for maintenance, every time I went in for a small repair or scheduled maintenance, there was a $1,000 estimate from the commissioned service desk rep for mostly frivolous work. Marvin always reviewed what had to be done now for safety and reliability and what was optional.But here is the real deal on why you can trust Marvins. My wifes Land Rover has been a money pit (even with Marvins prcing). This last December, Marvins estimate was quite high to fix her issue (two cylinders were not getting pressure, complete engine rebuild). Marvin recommended NOT fixing this (and passing on his $3-5,000 in foreseeable repairs) but to go trade the car in now while it still had value. He made nothing and my wife got a new car with a warranty. He made nothing on his estimate AND let us use his loaner for two days while we shopped.We have recommended Marvin multiple times and will continue to do so.

Waited a while for this review took my 98 Honda civic in here back in April and they was very nice and welcoming, they said I had a harness wire issue which caused my car to stop working at idle. Well to make a long story short (harness wires never got touched or replaced) the problem never got fixed we went back n forth for months and after spending about 700$ here nothing got fixed but my radio and even that stopped working again.Took my car to another mechanic and they was honest and told me just to scrap the car because the engine had bad damage and computer could be messed up repairs would be 2500+If marvin had just been honest from the beginning and told me my car was not worth the repairs I wouldnt have been mad I would have just taken my car back to the dealership while I still had some sort of warranty. Ultimately stay away from this place according to other reviewers they only help people they know.As

Just went here today. I really liked Marvin and the lady i dealt with at the desk. I liked their work, friendliness, and respectfulness. Its taken me a while to find a place i am willing to go back to. These guys are worth a try.

Got a full synthetic oil change from Marvins and am very happy with the service. I called late on a Saturday afternoon and Marvin answered, gave me the info I needed, and scheduled my appointment for Monday. He was very polite and helpful with no pushiness.When I dropped my car off, the from desk woman was very kind. Marvin even came out to meet and shake my hand.I got my call about an hour and a half later and picked it up with ease since they pulled it out front and parked it out of the way on Irving Park Rd.Ill be coming back for all my oil changes or anything else I might need.

Ive had nothing but excellent service here. In fact recently my car overheated and was leaking coolant. Instead of pushing me to get expensive repairs right away he checked and filled all my fluids, explained the problem was minor and I would need to just keep an eye on the coolant. Then proceded to show me how to check it and gave me a gallon of coolant and didnt charge me anything. I feel I can really trust them if they say something needs to be replaced.

Cant fix anything associated with computers.I brought my car in for a water pump replacement which is a simple job. They tried to send me out the door with a check engine light on and the car running way higher than normal idol. They acted like this was not a big deal and things would return to normal once I drove it a little. This was absolutely not the case and they kept me sitting there for 4 hours over the next 2 days to tell me they didnt know how to fix it and tried to blame it on me. After taking it to a real mechanic and spending an additional $400 to fix it, Marvins offered me a discounted brake job for the inconvenience they caused me. How about giving me the $400 it cost me to fix your mistake!

Expensive. But he fixed the problem same day.

#### STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!!! #### Took my car in payed a substantial amount of money was told car was fixed wouldnt have a problem, two weeks later the same check engine light came on took it back they told me it was the same problem they were going to fix it again, wasted a day while they fixed it, one month later the check engine light came back on same issue they work on it again wasting another day while they worked on it again told me it was fixed again, and 4 the fourth time the check engine light came back on I take it in again they said it was the same problem except now I need to change my whole transmission, because whatever I paid for and whatever they work on the last 3 times didnt resolve the issue and they were not willing to fix it correctly like they say they did the beginning. It almost felt like they were trying to extort money because they didnt fix the car correctly originally. This went on for four to five months so I finally forcibly took my truck to the shop and they had to work on it. They refused to fix what they claim they had fixed the return my car which now makes weird noises all the transmission and unlike a man of his word Marvin didnt do anything but return my car in worse condition than when I first gave it to him and the check engine light still on. Overall find a more reliable mechanic whos not going to rob you blind.

First of all Id like to state that I know quite a bit about cars I would rate my experience is above average by far my dad basically had his own shop in his garage and alley mechanics would come to my pop just to use his equipment for big jobs. With that being said ill talk about my two experiences with Marvin. The first time I visited Marvin was off of a recommendation from another fantastic shop owner (Armando) because I hit a speed bump to hard on my 2002 Audi A4 and cracked the oil pan. I tried to plug the patch myself at my garage however the crack went through the pan where the threading to the drain plug was and the plug was also bent. I couldnt change the pan myself because it was just too much work and I would have to lift the car higher than I’m capable with my hydraulic lift just to put an engine hoist under the car because I had to drop the frame to install the pan. (see I told you I know about cars...) I took my car to Marvins and he had it done in no time and for all the labor that was involved he did it for cheep. So my next adventure is when the clutch went bad on my A/C compressor so I was trying to replace it and then send it to a buddy of mine who could flush and recharge my A/C system while I was poking around I pulled back the panel covering my timing belt ... it was cracked in multiple places... =( anyone that knows anything about either of these jobs knows that you are gonna have to pay BIG BUCKS to get these jobs done epically on an AUDI... the way Audi has the belt you have to pull off the entire front end of the car just to get to the belt and I mean EVERYTHING.. the bumper the radiator EVERYTHING. So I take it to Marvins I dont have 15+ hours to do all that work. SO heres the thing I like so much... 1) I took my car to several other places and they estimated 2x-3x more than Marvins they had NO clue that I knew as much about cars as I do. I even know the book time for each of the jobs that I asked for and I know their EXACT profit margin and its sad how mechanics try to get over on people and how little people know about what’s involved in getting work done on their car. 2) Marvin may take FOREVER too look at your car BUT rest assured hes checking EVERYTHING and making sure your car is able to drive across country and back safely 3) I gotta save the best for last... Marvin does a PROFESSIONAL job CHEEP So if you’re on the north side and you’re looking for a good mechanic that wont screw you over Marvins FTW.Some of the people that posted comments obviously know NOTHING about cars ... someone posted a comment about their brakes and rotors.prices through auto zone for parts a pair of break pads is $20 and rotors are $20 a piece for my car. $60 total. Marvins Auto quoted me at $250 for that job.*Break pads $20 --- YES totally... you can get them for cheep and they come with a lifetime warrantee*Rotors $20 ----- Used...Maybe brand new I find that hard to believe they usually range between $50-$150*How your math works is troubling 20+20=40 not 60 But ill use your number 60... now ADD 2 hours of mechanic labor time (110/hr) SO... 220+60=280 ... Marvin charged you 250... sounds like he gave you a deal =/And for those people who complained about electronical problems with their car I got news for you. Unless you take your car to a specialist (the dealer) and pay BIG BUCKS you’ll be lucky if a general mechanic and figure the problem out on the first shot. When it comes to electronics cars are VERY difficult to diagnose for a multitude of reasons.
