Had a family emergency and had to pick up my rental car early in the morning instead of later in the afternoon as reserved. The employees at the Alamo Rental in Charlotte, NC were so understanding and kind and quickly got me my car and even a bottle water so I could make it to the hospital on time. Truly appreciate the professional and compassionate way they helped me on Friday, September 17, 2021. Thank you!
I had a great experience with this Alamo location. All the staff was so helpful. They answered all my questions & helped me to get the right car. Very easy pickup & return from & to Charlotte Airport. Affordable price. I will definitely use them again.
Charlotte NC airport (CLT) rental - Alamo personnel are friendly and helpful. Alamo’s price is always competitive, best among peers. Car was in pretty good shape, the inside was somewhat dirty. Attendant said to mention it to the drive out gate.I signed up for skip the counter, got a confirmation and QR code, but once at the airport was told “We don’t do that at this airport.”Got a bit lost in Charlotte and ended up briefly on a toll road. Alamo was kind enough to send me an email saying they charged my card for the $1.25 toll fee (fair enough) plus $3.95 service charge. Saved me from dealing with the local authorities. All in all, Alamo is a good value and I remain a loyal customer.
Had no issue with their car except for strange smell. Mechanically in good shape - all car rental operators need to find a way to clean the inside of the windows.
No one walked around the car with me when I picked it up, I had to take my own pictures of the damages. And even still when I returned the car the man that walked around the car with me said I was good to go, and I thanked him and we left.A few days later I get an email saying that I will be charged for damages to the vehicle. All the damages that were there when I picked up the car were the same ones when I dropped it off I promise I did not do any damage to that car. But Alamo is trying to blame me for the bumper being smashed. I turned all my documents in and they are still trying to charge me. Even though I had pictures.Nice try, I will be getting my lawyer.
Loved every part of my service! Thank you so much for being there for me in a very sad time! You made it effortless! Love all who helped me!
Rental and car pick-up were super easy and fast. Love the skip-the-counter option and the friendly agents. What I didnt love was the car. When I got it, the windows were down, which I figured was due to the heat. NOPE, it was due to the thick stench of cigarette smoke. When I dropped it off and complained, the check-in associate gave me a discount and apologized profusely. I may rent with Alamo again; Ill just be wiser.
Sounds like I am in a large group of low star ratings recently- wish I read them before I booked my car - pretty seamless check-in process but I was shocked at the over $100 for taxes & fees tacked onto a 4 day rental. Walked out to garage and staff pointed to my car and walked away, shame on me for not doing my own walk around/inspection with staff member- drove it to my destination, go out and saw it had no license plate, just a paper sign that said tag applied for and a dent in the front bumper. Needless to say, it was discovered upon my return as new damage so I am waiting to see how much that will cost - ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CAR BEFORE DRIVING AWAY!! And before you respond- NO, Id prefer not to email you to follow up- I have tried to call numerous times and never get a call back from the location- you can look my name up if you really care to talk.
My family and I rented a car for our family vacation. We called Alamo in hopes of expending the time of our rental, after speaking with CCR we were told that as long as we returned the car by 12 am we wouldn’t be charged a fee. Which is fact was false we were charged over 300, we then spoke to another CCR who told us that was not the truth. After an ongoing conversation with her we requested to speak to a supervisor. She then told us that she was the supervisor and there was nobody else we would be able to speak with. She later told us that her boss was on vacation and there was not a number she could give us to speak with anybody. After being lied to, over charged for a fee we were told did not apply until a certain time, and disrespected and belittled by a customer rep for being upset over false information, I will NEVER again be renting from this car company. If i could give this place zero stars I would, as a supervisor my self I would expect better respect and better communication from somebody who claims to be a supervisor.
Although the signage could have been better for Alamo in Charlotte, the employees were great to work with. Returning our rental in Myrtle Beach was a breeze! The 2018 Chevy Equinox was in need of work, ran very loud & rough, had some gum stuck on the passenger visor and smelled of smoke even though there were No Smoking stickers in the vehicle. Maybe time to retire that vehicle.
Super easy to book the reservation. Seamless pickup and drop off of vehicle. Car was clean, no issues with it. What more can be said...
Great customer service. Friendly agents that helped with any request I had. There was no attitude, just friendly service.
Great service in my rental faster then any other. Plus upgraded without charging me.
We rented a ford mustang convertible!! Such a fun way to get around! Super friendly service!
Had an issue with a vehicle we rented, and they did a great job making it right.
I booked a full size only to arrive and no full size cars available or wasn’t shown to me. I was put into a intermediate car which isn’t what I booked originally. Then I am an Alamo insider with a credit card only to be charged a 400 dollar deposit because I had no flight returning itinerary. The rental was ok but I was super disappointed. I don’t think I’ll be using alamo ever again!
Usually when I use Alamo the service is very good, but this last time I realized that service is good because is not out of the norm. In my last experience with Alamo I needed to change the vehicle that I rented (a mini van) for a 4WD and although I called several times to customer service. The Alamo team didn’t help me and they gave me different information every time I called them. At the end of the day I was unable to change the vehicle and only cross my fingers to don’t have issues with the vehicle I rented. Unfortunately, when you ask for something that is not the regular day for these guys you will not obtain good results.
The airport locations are always ideal, there is a better selection of vehicles and prompt service. The airport was clean and there were no issues with waiting - someone at the Enterprise counter offered to help me.The car was sanitized and a courtesy disinfectant wipe was left inside on the dashboard. One star deducted. I opted for The Special, which severely limited my vehicle choice options. Im used to selecting the vehicle of my own choice with no pressure. Also, the price of vehicle rentals have gone up substantially over the years, and most likely COVID has something to do with that.Overall, everything was pretty good and return process was easy-peasy.
I rented a car to go to the home of a relative who had a medical emergency. I told the representatives at the counter that Id reserved the car for a week, but that I didnt know how long I would need it. I asked if it would be better to rent for a few days and extend if need be or rent for a week and return the car if I didnt need to stay that long. I was told it would be best to rent for a week and that I would be refunded for the unused time if I brought the car back early. I took the car back on Wednesday night when I had reserved it until Saturday at 10 AM. I was told I was not eligible for a refund by a representative when I returned the car. He kept insisting that I was late since it was after 10 AM, even though I was 2.5 days early. He wouldnt answer any of my questions. He just kept saying yes mam robotically. I am very dissatisfied that I was not given the straight information when I rented the car and was not given the refund I was due. I wont rent from Alamo again.
Alamo is the most reliable car rental company Ive ever used. I had some bad experiences with other companies (hidden and extra fees, limited mileage for in-state residents while promoting unlimited mileage...).
Good quality car. Good experience overall. Quick pick up and drop off at the airport.
I rented a premium vehicle from this location and was given a standard vehicle that smelled of cigarette smoke and the volume and on off switch for the radio was broken off. The music was stuck on an elevated level. I returned the car within a couple of hours because the cigarette smoke smell and the loud radio was making me physically ill. The customer service I received was extremely rude and unprofessional.Be careful with this location and look at the rental car closely. I’ve been trying to reach someone to discuss my concerns but have been unsuccessful. In addition to unacceptable customer service they lack follow up on customer complaints.
I usually choose Alamo. Reliable cars, friendly staff and a spouse is not charged extra to be a driver. 👍
Everyone else were out of cars, thanks for the save, even though it was at another airport and cost me an uber ride to acquire. Everyone I had contact with was very professional and courteous.
Rental Office was across the street from the Charlotte airport. Car was ready to go. Ran perfectly. Check-in took one minute.Everything was perfect!!
I rented a truck from Alamo. It absolutely wreaks of cigarette smoke. They told me there’s nothing they can do about that. Now on day one the battery is dead. They told me I was going to be charged because I didn’t elect for roadside assistance. I would think it would be up to them to keep their autos in good repair. There an oil change light that keeps flashing.I called the main number and they told me if I get a jump they’re going to charge me but they can’t give me an exact amount because that number ha to come from Charlotte Alamo, where I rented it from. They never answer the phone at that store. So, I had to go out and purchase jumper cables because they gave me a dud car.I’m not happy at all and I’m going to find every place I can to leave a review for this company
There are too many unforeseen charges and ridiculous deposit requirements for a non traveler. These costs need to be clear on the website because I looked for them and only saw small charges for ex..drivers under 25. This just about cost my family and I a long awaited trip. The first ever with my GRANDCHILDREN to be exact!! Just tell us abt the $400.00 or $500.00 deposit on the site and that the deposit cannot be put on a separate card. DISCLOSURES PEOPLE geesh!!
I would rent from Alamo again, the process was quick and easy and straight forward.
Very quick and easy transaction from the counter to the vehicle. Staff was polite and helped us pick a vehicle that was right us.
The car we were given was absolutely and completely unsafe to drive. There is no reason for this as once the car was over 60 mph it shuttered and rattled and became very difficult to manage. I will never use this company again. If you cant trust them to put cars that are safe to drive on the road, they shouldnt be putting cars on the road.
First time I rated Alamo less than four or five stars. For starters the interior of my vehicle was clean but the exterior was not and the location in Charlotte (at the airport) was limited on my class of cars. I also had to move quick in order to bring a family member to a doctors appointment and didnt have time to wait for the management/staff to figure what other vehicle I could be switched into.I attempted to contact this location through their local phone number multiple times during the day after 3 pm and I was placed on hold many times. I literally drove to the location in order to switch out the vehicle. The saving grace was the management/staff that was there at that time were more than accommodating and switched me into a larger SUV at no up-charge which was nice. That vehicle was nice but the windows were not cleaned properly.Listen folks, I worked for an old Car rental company located in Charlotte when I was in college called Triangle Rent-A-Car. I dont believe they are in existence anymore, but I mention that because I understand the hustle of getting cars in and out. Now with Covid you need to sanitize them also which adds an extra step.At the end of the day you have to do your job to the highest standard, it is the only way when dealing with a business in which you want and need repeat customers in particular. I will always use Alamo because overall I love the company, the pricing and have had predominantly great experiences. This time was not good and I have to share that experience so management can correct and adjust. Hoping that was just a bad week for them.
Quick, easy, and convenient! As a first time car renter, I was surprised by how smoothly the process went and that the price on the reservation actually matched the final totaled paid. Also thought they were the most reasonably priced. Car was very clean too.
I tried to rent a car at the Wilmington, NC location (airport location), and was very disappointed. I reserved a truck through Expedia and called Alamo the same day to check my deposit amount. I was quoted $200 on the phone, and when I got there, was told $400. I also was told that I could use two different major credit cards to make my payment, over the phone. When I got there, was told no. I was very disappointed overall, and left last minute, to change travel arrangements. I will never recommend this place for anyone to rent a car from. They showed no sympathy for the inconvenience at all.
Attentive and pleasant staff. Car was ready by the time I walked from counter to the parking lot. In CLT they are located in the parking garage directly outside of baggage claim. The return experience was easy as well.
I have been renting cars for several years, and this time I wanted to try Alamo, and contract directly with them. But my experience was terrible, it is the most expensive car and in bad condition that I have rented in my entire life. About $ 100 a day for a nearly 40,000-mile Nissan Versa, which had strange sounds coming from the tires and engine, the air conditioner gave off a horrible smell, and according to the sticker it had expired the mechanical inspection in the state of issue. I do not recommend it.
I rented through Costco a full sized SUV and had two to choose from upon arriving at the CLT rental location. The gentleman at the rental counter was warm and responsive... the service in the garage went awry with a lack of care. The Chevy Tahoe I opened first smelled of a smoker... that left me with the Nissan Armada. I let one of the associates know this was my first time renting with Alamo, as I have been a long time Hertz Presidents Circle member and if they could upgrade me to the Suburban sitting next to the Armada... I could understand that it may not have been available... just did not expect a short and dismissive NO while he was walking away. loyalty and customer service mean a lot in this day and age.All that said... having to spend two hours cleaning a vehicle that clearly had not been, is really the crux of the two stars. As you can see from the Complete Clean Pledge in comparison to the uncleanliness, there is no way this was sanitized. Even before Covid-19 a clean vehicle, no matter how much the daily rate or level of vehicle, is crucial to satisfied and repeat customers. while we can all have an off day, this is not acceptable.
Vehicle was great for our trip but was so dirty and smelled so bad like cigarettes I had to spend $25 to clean and sanitize it before I could pick up the family. In these uncertain times it seems the first priority would be to wash and sanitize vehicle after every use. Vehicle was a five. Cleanliness a 1 or zero. My true rating is 2.5
The woman at the desk ignored us about 5 minutes before processing our reservation. For some reason she claimed my credit card wasn’t working. After asking her to run it again my card “magically” worked. I got the feeling that I was interrupting her Instagram browsing.
My flight arrived 2 hours later than planned. Alamos system was not operating properly so I was unable to simply chose a car and drive away. I had to go back and wait at the counter. There were no full size cars left, which is what I had reserved. Very disappointing. I declined the standard size vehicle they offered. The rep left to consult her manager and returned with a midsize Rogue suv, which I accepted. She said it was actually and upgrade from what I ordered. I recall seeing on the website that the suvs priced higher.
Great customer service, I think they are a little high. I paid $400 for my deposit. I ended up extending it for an extra day & just 1 day was $60 for a small economy car. I dont think it was worth it at all. The vehicle also was not cleaned.
Friendly, fast, and helpful customer service. Good cars available at a good price. I did receive my car unwashed, which was kinda off putting but I didn’t make a fuss because I knew where I was going it’d get dirty fast anyway. Still...should’ve been washed. Other than that no complaints.
Easy pickup/ super easy drop off. Friendly staff members. Car was very nice and clean.
The wait was lil long, maybe due to high volume...But counter engineers were so polite, receptive, and respectfully cunning, it made me forget the wait. Then to top it off I was given a awesome vehicle Chevrolet Traverse with only a 1000k 😁
The customer service was amazing. The car was fantastic!!! I will definitely be using them again in the near future
Excellent customer service. They tried to increase my bill by $227 when I dropped the car off after my rental, which was not cool at all, but a manager was able to resolve the issue in less than 15 min and even gave me a little bit of a discount for my trouble without having to ask. 4 stars because they tried to increase my bill, but other than that it was a smooth experience.
Alamo Car Rental experience went off without an issue. We needed a car for the weekend trip out of town and Alamos prices were the best. Newer vehicle and in great condition. Appreciated the friendly staff in CLT and drop off was easy. We will rent again with Alamo.
First time renter for Alamo here. The customer service at Alamo CLT was excellent. The clerk was very friendly and the process was short and smooth. I reserved a luxury class car (Cadillac) but since it wasn’t available when I arrived, I was upgraded to a Mercedes SUV which was great. The problem I had was the strong smell of cigarette smoke in the vehicle. Upon exiting the somewhat dark parking garage, I stopped at the nearest gas station to set my Bluetooth to the car. I looked down into the cup holder and there was an open razor blade in the cup holder. So then I began to look around and notice that the car had not been cleaned. There was juice spilled all over the back seats that had dried up. It was also on the center console and all over the passenger door. While the customer service was great, the attention to detail in the cleaning and sanitizing of the vehicle was lacking.
Rented a car from JFK and after I returned the car I realized I had been over charged by over $800 I called several times and was told my issue was going to be escalated and I would receive a call. It’s been over 2 weeks and nothing. Never renting with Alamo again. Very deceptive…
CLT airport location refuses to believe that they have a “skip the counter” reservation available at that location even though I’ve been using it for years. Every time I show up to retrieve the car they insist that I go back to the counter, and then a lengthy conversation ensues. The eventual result is that a manager comes out in a very pleasant manner and resolves to make sure that I’m able to get a vehicle, but the process is becoming annoyingly cumbersome which defeats the whole purpose of the skip the counter reservation.
Please do not rent from this company. The cars are horribly dirty and customer service is the worse. They lied to me about a convient car exchange and wasted my vacation. It is one huge company affiliated with Enterprise etc. who must hire people that agree to lie to customers.Never again.
I was disappointed that they did not have a minivan available after I had reserved one a few weeks prior to pick up date. They quickly offered me an Excursion which was big enough for our family, however as soon as we pulled out of the spot, one of the tires had a nail in it and the low PSI/damaged tire symbol was on. The third vehicle which was much smaller smelled like smoke but they didnt have any other mini van or 7 passenger cars to give us. I will say the customer service at the counter was great but the gentleman trying to find us a car was very frazzled.
I had a brand new Chrysler minivan break down on the highway! (only 61 miles on it - it was NOT Alamos fault!) Alamo quickly sent me a new BETTER upgraded high-end SUV. MOST IMPORTANTLY - Geoff at customer service was SO nice and understanding, he refunded me in FULL for a 5 day trip - I dont know what Alamo is paying him, but whatever it is - it is NOT enough - Geoff is a VALUABLE employee and I HOPE Alamo realizes that! Bravo!
The car was nice and new but when we arrived to drop the car off in Boston the address was not the same as the drop off location, there were no signs, and the customer service rep that answered the phone was located in Michigan and could not offer any help with directions. We met two other drivers also trying to find the drop off location before finding it on another road, inside a parking garage, on the 9th floor. Please, update your signs and make the address clearer!
Reserved a full size car at Charlotte Douglas airport. Once arrived they did not have a car so we were upgraded to a SUV which was great. Not paying attention at the airport cause we were ready to be at our hotel, once at the hotel we found drugs ( marijuana) all over the floor. I was on vacation with my wife and son. The thought of getting pulled over for whatever reason then getting arrested in front of my wife and son does not sit well with me. Yes the car was towed and a new car was given, but it was not a great experience considering what could have happened!
Car was damaged and needed a oil change. Car had a quarter tank of gas that I reported but was not taken down so when I returned it they tried charging for not filling to full. Only offered a $15 discount.
I had a great experience with Alamo. They did not have anymore full size cars so the employee upgraded me to a challenger. It was a very easy process and they had great customer service.
I have been renting with Alamo for a few years now and I never had an issue with any vehicles or service. But these past few times that Ive rented were not good experiences and frankly Im not sure if I will be going back to Alamo, even though I just became an Alamo insider member not too long ago. This past weekend I had a convertible sports car reserved for Saturday, I came to pick it up on Friday around 9pm and they told me that they didnt have any convertibles available (so why have it on the website?), just a regular hard top sports car. This is not the first time that this has happened to me with Alamo here in Charlotte, so I ended up getting a different vehicle than the one I was supposed to receive, and on top of that, the vehicle I got (2019 Dodge Challenger) smelled like cigarette smoke, it wasnt noticeable at first but when I drove off and turned on the a/c it was a very distinguished smell, I had to stop and buy those clip on air fresheners that go on your vents because the smell started giving me a headache and unfortunately they didnt help that much. A few weeks before that, I reserved a vehicle and did the online check-in so that I could go straight to the vehicle like I always do, I came up the the employee at the parking deck and showed him my ticket with the bar-code and informed him that I did the skip the counter check in and Im here to pick up my full size sedan. He then proceeds to ask me for all of my information and what kind of vehicle I want, I then told him again that I already reserved a vehicle and that Im just here to pick it up, I showed him the bar-code again and he looks at me all annoyed and says you shouldve showed that to me the first time.... which I most definitely did. Other than that one employee, the staff at Alamo has always been great, professional, and helpful. Its just that these small issues are starting to get annoying and time consuming.
I always rent through Alamo and I’ve never had any issues until this past weekend. The rental I received from clt airport was dirty . After a long flight I wasn’t able to fully check out the rental I just wanted to check in my hotel, shower and relax . The following morning going to get breakfast I look in the back seat and stains where every where in the seats, food underneath the seats and everything. I would think with covid still on the rise all rentals would be cleaned completely well that wasn’t the case . Alamo Definitely surprised me with this one
Both the fastest and easiest car rental transaction I’ve ever had. Rick was incredibly sweet and accommodating. I didn’t have a reservation and didn’t want to wait an hour in line at Budget so Rick took care of me and had me out of there in no time. I’d still probably be waiting in line to this day over at Budget.Thank you Rick!!
The whole experience from the start to finish especially the finish was great due to the fact the entire staff that I was dealing with was very helpful, polite, courteous, patient and definitely I can say accommodating to my needs to where there was a limited choice on what I needed and they actually for the same price allowed me to choose a little bigger for the comfortability for my family thank you thank you very much. Once we returned the car back even better didn’t have to deal with any line waiting, paper signing just got out the car and they came over scanned the car and got our luggage’s and went into the airport very convenient and quick awesome. Definitely recommend and definitely will use again
Much appreciated ! The Alamo people at CLT treated us well. Getting a car was quick, friendly, and economical. I hope to use them again.
All I will say is that I wont be coming here again.
At the Charlotte airport the car we selected from those available started but the keys were nowhere to be found, not even by the attendant. The second car we selected had not been cleaned on the inside and the view through the windshield was impaired. Otherwise the process of getting and returning the car was flawless
There was only on representative at the counter working for Enterprise, Alamo and another establishment. He offered me an up grade for, just $40 more! So I agreed. When he finished calculating the upgrade that $40 became $56.16. I told him that he needs to be up front with customers because that was the right thing to do. But since he said that he was just back to work after several months of being laid off, I went with the upgrade. The car was clean except for the exterior and interior windows (including the mirrors). I dont what the problem was there. Would I use Alamo Rent A Car again? Yes, I probably will, but I will windows will be clean before I leave there lot.
This ranks as one of the worst car rental experiences we’ve had.We started with a line of about 10 groups of people and one person working (despite and number of other employees walking around behind the counter). This one employee was serving multiple brands at the National counter. No signs, direction, or anyone helping, making this horribly confusing. We were finally directed to an aisle to chose one from a row of cars. We picked one, reached to open the door, and another employee yelled to stop us because the customers he was with wanted that one.We got into our second choice car, settled in, and about gagged from the smell of smoke. It was bad.Our third pick was finally a success. Too bad it took so long to get there.
Reserved a premium special vehicle but they upgraded us to a SUV when they didnt have any... while that was an upgrade size wise it was not an upgrade price wise... the suv was about 100 bucks cheaper over the duration rental if I had chose it originally. I didnt throw up a fuss, life is too short to worry over such things. The suv we got was satisfactory enough I suppose.
By far the best of the car rental choices at CLT. I have always had a positive experience there with the check-in process and the return. On a few occasions, I have been surprised by the quality of the car (got an Audi once) while I was charged for the advertised lower model I rented. Most recently, I had a car that had a minor scratch on the windshield which I reported. After the return, I got a claims letter and immediately thought the worst. Those fears were unfounded because Alamo believed me when I said I did not cause the damage and they confirmed in writing that the would not continue the case. The will be who I exclusively rent from when I travel to CLT which is often.
The price and convenience of skipping the counter was a bonus. However they only had vans available when I arrived, normally that would not have been a problem but the roads I had to travel on where under construction and had many semi trucks and driving a van on uneven pavement in heavy traffic was very difficult to maneuver. Also I found a spoon and old napkins in the back that was left from the last renter which tells me they are not taking any time to clean the vehicles before renting them.
Alamo always seems to have a poor selection of cars. Their dilegence with cleaning cars is poor as well. I always find junk from previous drivers in my cars, this last time being all of the previous drivers receipts.
Alamo always has the best customer service and best vehicles. They go out of their way to please the customer. Another great rental experience!
Fast and courteous customer service, but the luxury car I rented ( cadillac) was not in the condition of a car of that category, the rear camera, the cruise control and the parking assistant did not work . I can use a vehicle in those conditions but not pay for luxury and receive an standard car, they are supposed to review the vehicle before renting it. I only received a sorry from one of the employees when I returned the car.
Easy access to cars, check in counter was helpful and friendly. Staff in the parking garage were okay. I found a car with local plates but both 12v outlets were not working. I even popped the hood to see if I could find the fuses, however I was unable to find the cause for the non working outlets. I informed the personnel in the garage and they shrugged and suggested a different car.I had to search and found another car that worked.Other than that all else went well except I had to purchase washer fluid because they did not fill the washer fluid before I left and ran out. I definitely did not use a gallon of fluid in my travels. Will use them again...
Not pleased with the vehicle they classified as a midsize suv. Our only option was a Hyundai Venue, which online is classified as a compact suv. We could not even got my daughters car seat in the car, let alone the luggage and stroller. We then had to wait another hour to see about upgrading our vehicle. We were told we could be upgraded for free because we waited in line again (which is what an employee told us we needed to do.) We were charged an extra 80 dollars for a truck that smelt like pot because that’s the only thing they had left. This was our first and last time we will use Alamo.
The Car was DIRTY when we received it but only had one other full-size car to choose so we accepted it. It had higher then normal milage and lots of little dings/paint scrapes here and there. Ran fine though, good gas milage.
When we picked up the car on a late arrival and not reserved, the Alamo agent put us in a Nissan Sentra. This car had just been dropped off 2 hours prior (found paperwork). It was filthy on the outside and inside. License was 4 months expired. Front tires were down to the nubs and the window wash fluid was empty. Make it worse were stuck with it because were not driving 40 miles back to the airport. This is not what Id of expected from Alamo
I have only rented Alamo the last five year, I am going to change that from here on out. I reserved a standard ended up with compact SUV that was not great, the car smelled (ended up putting air freshener in it) all can say i was not very happy.
I rented a Jeep Wrangler last week to drive from Charlotte to Waynesville for a week to visit my cousins and spend some travel time with my 84 year old Mom. I #ucked up picking that thing, we had a hell of a time getting in and out of the damn thing all week, every time it was an adventure. ..I own that, I shouldve chose something more comfortable, Mom drives a 2018 Subaru Outback by the way and it was sorely missed! ..Otherwise the Jeep did its job and I was really impressed how smooth the pick-up and return went. This from a former Hertz/Penske garageman from 1980-1981. ..They get a 5 star rating for doing things right and having it ready to go. ..Thanks Alamo! C.F. Alley
Overall great experience but the car was a little dirty when we got it.
Excellent customer service but did not receive credit back on credit card for bringing car back earlier
Nice car. Clean. Associates were very helpful and nice!! Definitely use again!!
Great personalized service. Sign up for the skip the counter option, go straight to the parking garage, and a representative will assist you. Youll be out of there in minutes.
Great customer service, good pricing and excellent vehicles. Will be using them again thank you.
They didn’t have the car I booked so they gave me a free upgrade. I’ve always been satisfied with the speed and courtesy Alamo provides
Landed on time in Charlotte. Line out the door! At least 25 people in line!! Seriously??? You rented cars to all these people and you have one freaking attendant! Shame in Alamo...will never rent from you again!
Reserved a luxury car and got a small Audi SUV. Although it was nice, it was not exactly what I would call a luxury car due to how small it was. Also, we reserved the rental for one day through Costco for a total of roughly $110 with the insurance coverage Alamo offered. When we arrived at the counter to pick up the vehicle, we asked about adding one more day. We were told the total cost with their insurance coverage was going to be well over $400 (for a total of 2 days) which I found to be absolutely absurd. Staff was very nice and courteous, but the extra charge and the small size of the vehicle are why I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Charlotte NC location : Poor customer service. First of all the line to rent a car was all the way out the door and i stood in line for 1 hr and 25 minutes. There was 1 counter person doing reservations. After waiting i got up to the counter and some manager walking around was telling all the employees to work at a normal pace and do not rush to get the line down. Seriously!!Secondly: I paid for a convertible up front when i booked the reservation. I get out to the garage and they dont have one available. I waited 20 mins because the man said we will have one cleaned up for you. I said ok not a problem. 20 minutes goes by and they said its going to be another 15 minutes or you can have a hard top camero. I said fine ill take the hard top i just want to get going already.I paid for the convertible price and i was not offered any compensation but i let that go.Third: I go to return the car 2 days later. I filled the gas tank to full and returned the car. I even took a picture of the gauge. When i got out of the car some guy went to check the car back in and stated i had a fueling surcharge that was do. I said no i filled it look at the gauge. He said mam the computer does not read the tank as full i informed him to look at the gauge again and he said nope theres nothing i can do for you. I asked to speak with a manager and they were no assistance either. I paid the $6 and change that they charged me. It is the principle at this point. I very rarely ever write reviews but this company had me so annoyed that i will never rent with them again or refer any one to them. Obviously the company needs the money more then i do.
The rental actually came through Enterprise because of things going on in Denver, Alamo and other companies were closed. They did a fantastic job taking car of customers. They were swamped with rentals but were super efficient.
It always a pleasure renting from this location. Great service, Pricing beats other rental companies and I get to better car options.
Had to exchange my rental for another one. The new one was not clean, not to mention the things left behind in it. Once I brought it back there was a discount given, but the way I was handled by management at the airport, was so unprofessional. Customer service over the phone was better then in person😔
I originally rented a Small Nissan truck and at the counter they offered to upgrade to a Full size Ford F150 for the price of pre-paying gas. I took the offer. The vehicle was brand new. I was the first driver. It drove great and did the job I rented it for. The only issue I had was the check engine light was on the whole week. I ignored it since I had previous experience with other vehicles knowing it is usually something insignificant. The week went fine. Checked in with no problems. Good Job Alamo. Just check out the cars a little better before renting them.
Always a great experience. fast service and quick returns
Great service and price. Oh and they didnt put hundreds of dollars on hold like other companies do. The car was very nice and fully loaded. I was surprised to see 36 mpg on average. A 6 hour trip only used 10 gallons of gas. Definitely will be using them again.
They were quick and efficient. No games, or bs.
Do you remember when Home Depot first opened their stores years ago? There were associates on every aisle asking to help you and saved you valuable precious time when shopped there, well that is how Alamo has stepped up their game. When I walked into the parking area, multiple knowledgeable, helpful people were their to make sure I had my vehicle and I was on my way. Totally professional looking and knew their job. Great Customer service and awesome attitude. Thanks Alamo for a great experience.
Car was great. premium rental was a volvo s60 was clean and ready to go
Wonderful experience - reliable car and quality customer service!
Ive been using Alamo for years as I used to feel that I received the best car for the money. However, Ive been disappointed with my last several vehicles. The last smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and they didnt have any other vehicle in that class so my family was stuck with it for a week. Also, the vehicle classes have gotten too small. We travel with one large suit case, two small ones, and a single stroller. These easily fit into our Subaru legacy, but to give us extra space I chose a standard SUV for our last two rentals. The first was a Chevy Equinox and the second was a Jeep Cherokee. We could barely cram our items in, thank goodness we didnt bring the double stroller. I would hate to see what they rent out as intermediate SUVs if they consider these vehicles standard SUVs. Chevy even calls the Equinox a small SUV on their product page, and Jeep calls the Cherokee a compact SUV. Ironically, Alamo uses RAV4 as an example of their Intermediate SUV, but thats bigger than either standard SUV that we received. Before these vehicles I booked a fullsize car, and received a Dodge Charger. Also a tight fit with our kids, but it actually fit the luggage and stroller better than either of the SUVs above. Theres just no way to get a car or SUV thats not compact without going to a fullsize SUV. Totally inexcusable Alamo!
Great One Way Rental! We flew into Charlotte and out of BWI. Our rental exceeded our expectations when we got a 2020 Chevy Tahoe. The pick up was quick and easy, we loved the vehicle, and return was fast and friendly. This was a perfect rental experience.
