I moved up to the Cary area about six weeks ago and during that time I spent countless hours googling and researching for a great stylist. I have an autoimmune disease so my hair has gotten incredibly thin and the gal I had in Florida always did such a great job that I was really nervous about finding someone new here.I read hundreds of reviews and looked at as many pictures from salons in or around the area.A1 Salon was the one I kept coming back to because of the great reviews about Jamal. My hair was looking so drab and I just couldn’t do anything to make it look good so I made the decision to call A1. Jamal answered the phone so no need to go through a receptionist. He wasn’t at the salon at that moment but assured me he would call back within 15 minutes. He actually got back quicker than that and was able to get me in the next day. I had no pictures to show him because I couldn’t find anything that was close to what I wanted so all I told him was I needed it to look fuller and be on the trendy side. He said he knew immediately when I walked in what I needed so I just put it in his hands...literally. He gave me the best haircut I have had in my life...he did exactly what I had in mind and truly an artist at what he does! I was amazed at how full and healthy my hair looked and actually felt beautiful. He is also extremely kind and the special treat of tea and homemade baklava his wife makes was just wonderful!! Falsely advertised open hours till 8PM on Google. When I got here at 6.45PM on a Saturday, they were closed. There was a sign on the door saying closed at 6. See attached photographs. I have no sympathy people who waste other peoples time. I could have gone to a different salon in the time I took to drive down here.

LOVED the haircut!! I was little apprehensive since it was my first time here but it was definitely worth it. He styled my hair exactly the way I had thought of. One of the best since I moved from India. He was very flexible with the timing and it was very easy to get an appointment with him.Definitely visiting this place again.

Best haircut ever! With Jamal, I finally found a hairstylist/color expert that actually knows what they are doing. For the first time in a good number of years, I am happy with my hair. Style is great, color is beautiful. (I have resistant gray roots, but they are gorgeously covered now.) I have gone to Jamal now for about four months, and I plan to stay with him. My husband was uncomfortable regarding no longer being able to go to his barber/stylist after so many years in San Francisco, but he says he is VERY happy with Jamals work. In fact, it was my husband that suggested that I go to Jamal. Good decision.

Jamal is an absolutely amazing cutter of hair but an even more wonderful person. My wife and I were in Cary for other reasons and decided to see if we could get a haircut. Now I am a Great Clips kind of guy who doesnt really care what happens to my head as long as the hair is shorter when I leave than when I enter.My wife on the other hand is on the opposite end of that spectrum and is VERY picky about her hair.When we called Jamal was full for the day but when he found out we were from Durham he said he would stay open late for us and would cut our hair!What a phenomenal experience! Not only did we both get the best haircuts we had ever had (I am 59 so that is a LOT of haircuts) but he made us Lebanese coffee (superb) and served us homemade Baklava (delicious). All of this after closing time after having already cut hair for a solid 8 hours. Incredible,!We will be returning for our haircuts long into the future.

After tried 2 hair stylist, I didnt like them until we moved again, I found a1 salon on Google due to location change, it has great reviews so I tried it out. Im NOT disappointed, Jamal, the owner, did an excellent job. He gave me exactly what I want. Its not easy to give me a good style because of my thin hair. But Jamal did it. The salon is neat and clean, Jamal is fast and really good. The best part of him is he doesnt want to sell you products that he doesnt think right for your hair. I asked him about any product to add up volumes, he said no, dont want to harm my hair roots. Although Jamal is fast and for some people might be not-so- fancy service. But you get exactly what you want. Very straightforward and fast. I definitely will come back again because I think I finally found the hair stylist I like. And if you are an Asian or with thin fine hair, tired of hair salon screw up your hair because the stylist is not familiar with Asian hair, give Jamal a try, you will not disappoint.

After having a cut and highlights done at A1, i must say i am not disappointed. Jamal is the owner and main stylist at this salon, he is absolutely amazing. I am not the best when it comes to taking care of my hair. Im cheap - Ill admit it. BUT Id rather wait and have Jamal cut/style my hair than go to any other place. Salons are NOT all the same. Jamal is a MASTER and can take dry, naturally curly hair that tends to look blah and make it beautiful! His coloring is so natural looking too. My first cut/color, another customer was there who used to be a beautician. SHE said once she saw him mix his color she knew he knew what he was doing - you cant get much better affirmation than from a peer!So, long story short - in the past 3 years Jamal at A1 Salon is the ONLY one to cut my hair! He is personable, experienced, and comfortable to around. (I read the reviews that gave him only 1 star and I have to wonder what they were thinking!)

I am a male and went I went to A1 Salon to get a hair cut. Normally, I go to Cost Cutters or Sports Clips, but wanted to give this place a shot after eating at the Jersey Mikes in the strip center.I went in and there was no wait. There is a Middle Eastern guy, named Jamal, who you can tell loves what he is doing and is very good at it. He says that he has been cutting hair for nearly 30 years now.Because it was my first visit to the salon and the day was slower for him than expected, he also trimmed my beard and shaved my neck/face (other than the beard itself). I was blown away. At first, I was hesitant to let someone use a straight razor on my neck or face, but after seeing the results and how clean he made me look, Im hooked. My beard looked great, the lines were incredible and my hair cut was fantastic.Lastly, before leaving, Jamal styled my hair. While I dont typically style my hair (other than dry it with a towel and comb it with a brush afterwards), Jamal made my hair look great. My wife loved it and I looked great for the big meeting that I was attending later that evening.I will definitely be going back to get my hair done in the future. Depending on the price, I will also go back from time to time and have Jamal shave my neck/beard. He explained that he is a licensed barber and has done this for many years.I was thoroughly impressed.

I always have the hardest time finding a stylist who can deal with my long, thick hair even at fancy salons. Jimal is a true professional who knows hair and really can style, color and cut. I wont go anywhere else.

So much better than waxing! Get your hair removal done by Urvi. She does this technique called threading. Its a 100% improvement from old fashioned waxing and it removes the hair so much more efficiently. She is very pleasant and knows her craft very well. You should try it and youll never go back to waxing again!

I have learned from experience to hold off on reviewing a hair stylist until I have been to their salon at least twice. The first time, I expect the stylist to be skilled, to listen, and do what I ask; the second time, I want to be able to relax, knowing he/she will do a great job without my having to worry or say much of anything. In Jamal, I finally found what I was looking for. He is very skilled and attentive, but more importantly, he really understands hair (my hair) and knows how to shape a cut to a person’s face--something apparently hair stylists have to learn on their own because it isn’t taught in school! Hard to imagine, but this explains why I’ve had to go through so many stylists to find someone with Jamal’s artistry and level of skill. My hair is short and he suggested I wear it a bit longer so it would curl better and look softer. He was right--it does. The cut also grows out well and requires very little time to maintain. I highly recommend him.

This is the best salon! Jamal is very professional. He is a master hair designer.I have very difficult hair. Its long, curly and I went from brown to blonde, which is not easy to get the right shade of blonde. I have tried several salons in the area, including very expensive ones, but always ended up unhappy because my hair would turn out too ashy or too brassy. It was very dry and damaged too.At A1 Salon Jamal fixed the color and the good products he uses helped repair my hair. Im very happy that I found A1 Salon and wont go anywhere else. My hair is healthy and Im happy with the color every time.

Jamal took me last minute which I as sooo grateful for! I have 3b/3c textured hair (very curly but also very fine) but it is easily detangled if you condition it properly. He did not seem to have a problem detangling my hair. He was able to complete my hair in about 50 minutes (shampoo, condition, blow dry, trim, and straighten). My hair is very short not even shoulder length. My hair looked good when he was finished however when it was time to pay he told me “usually it is $60 but for your hair type I charge another $20”.I was shocked. $80 for something I could literally do at home?!?! (minus the trim). The usual salon I go to (Twisted Scissors) charges no more than $40 maybe $50 for everything I get done and they do a FANTASTIC job.Although my hair looked good I will likely not go back. His prices are ridiculous. Very nice guy though. If you are Caucasian with basically bone straight hair then you should be fine! But anyone with textured hair be prepared to pay extra for something you can’t control.

The owner is a true professional. They were the only place I could find taking appointments on a Sunday so I called and they saw me right away. I am a 27 year old male and typically opt for the cheap 10 to 15 dollar hair cut places but they are always crowded and inconsistent. A1 was $25 but it was well worth it. Believe the reviews. This place is the real deal.

One of top worst experiences in customer service Ive ever had in my life. I came home and cried on my husband. I would give zero stars if I could. My experience with Jamal was hostile, rushed, and rude. I had to have my hair colored TWICE at another salon to fix the damage that he did. He was working on me simultaneously with another client, and while shampooing me actually had her get up from the chair and answer the phones and schedule clients for him. I asked him to check my hair while the color processed since he hadnt even glanced my way, and he sarcastically said Oh, well youre the expert, you tell me! He completely disregarded what I asked for and left my blonde hair with hot, orangey roots. I left with a clear line of demarcation on my hair from the dye that I had to go to another salon to fix. He talked rudely about past clients, and kept stroking my hair in an uncomfortable way to show me how another client DIDNT like being touched the same way(??) and when I agreed that it was uncomfortable, he got in my face and asked if seeing my lady doctor also bothers me. I was speechless. As a side note, his body odor was overpowering.

Ok this is the best blow out ----a must try. I am picky with my hair and need my hair dresser to be awesome at blow outs. This is the place. He is so nice and treats you like a queen.

Jamal is a excellent hairdresser and has very relaxing salon he is the best in my opinion takes his time and does it right even when he has other people still takes time for you....and every body leaves happy.

I was very unsure of this place at first because of all the good reviews. So many are from out of state and others, I just assumed were probably friends, family, etc. writing good reviews. I totally took a leep of faith, was desperate for a haircut and was willing to go where ever (plus, the Mitchels Salon across the stree was closed).It was pretty slow and I thought, Oh no. Why is no one here? Jamal came from the back talking about how he was a designer and how hed take care of me. Then when I tried to tell him what I wanted he told me not to worry, that he was the designer and he would make my hair look great. Once again, I begin to freak out a little.After an hour I left with AMAZING hair! I was actually a little bummed that I didnt have anywhere to go. If I had brought in a picture it would have been exactly how he did my hair. I just mentioned that I usually curled it and he had me walking out like I would want to leave my house, but better! (I hate it when I go somewhere and it looks nothing like how I would normally wear it and I feel weird all day.)The only thing is that he didnt tell me the curls were an extra $20 until after he was done and rung me up. The shampoo, cut, style/curl ended up being $80, which I feel is a little steep for him not to have given me a heads up, but he did say if I didnt have it curled the next time it would be $60. The cut is beautiful and Ill be going back from now on!

The best experience ever with a highly professional hairdresser..in my work, i travel all over the US and Canada and i never experienced such service and quality of haircut..i advise everyone to go to A1 Salon..
