Of the paths to spiritual liberation in Hinduism, karma yoga is the path of unselfish action.I really enjoyed this gym before the pandemic. There were some great teachers, and some newer teachers with very small class sizes. However, since the pandemic the management has COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED and have continued to charge my membership fees. Over the past months I have called into a perpetually full voicemail box, no one responds to my emails, and the doors are shuttered. There have been no email updates to members regarding future credits or reimbursements. They are stealing money with no respect toward their members.Of course I understand its a tough time, but you can not charge for a service that you are not providing in order to subsidize your business. Hows that for karma yoga?
Pre-pandemic, this was an OK place to workout and take a yoga class. Some of the teachers were woefully inexperienced and their website was never updated if there was a substitute for that day, so yoga was a bit of a crapshoot but its close to work and has a sauna so I dealt with it.However, since the studio has been closed it has been impossible to reach anyone by phone, email, or otherwise. I attempted to pause my membership over the course of 5 weeks and all messages were ignored. I ended up having to solve the issue through my bank, which isnt ideal but at least there was recourse. I find it highly unprofessional and unethical to ignore messages from members, particularly when theyre asking for you to stop charging their card. Its an abuse of your members trust to simply take their money without any explanation. Dont give these people your money.
Excellent place. Love it. Clean, well-maintained. Superb staff. The best gym in Cambridge.
Karma Yoga; the Revolution BeginsKarma Yoga Studio offers professional staffing, a serene setting, state of the art equipment... but what makes Karma Yoga a truly remarkable business is its charismatic, passionate, and transparent owners. Recently I had the pleasure to talk with one of the owners, Jesse Winder, about the direction of Karma Yoga and Karma Revolution. He emphasized his vision of creating more then just a prospering business, but an environment that inspires compassion and understanding towards others. This is a man with tenacious work ethics and stands true to his morals. He is planting a seed for more then just another Yoga Studio, but a REVOLUTION, one that will greatly impact and inspire the community of Boston. I can only hope that some of his karma rubs off on my daily practices and profession.
Wonderful in all ways. The receptionist is most helpful, professional, personal, and very kind, the instructors are exceptionally skilled, friendly, motivating, and helpful, the setting is artistic and beautiful, the location in Harvard Square is amazing, and the fellow yoga classmates are wonderful, the owner and his wife are incredible representatives of all of the above (skilled, professional, personal, friendly, and kind). An all around amazing and rare place.
This place has some of the best yoga teachers in Cambridge. Unfortunately, the HR/organization of the place is very challenging to deal with. I finally gave up buying class packs or memberships, because they always messed things up and never responded to emails and I was just too stressed out by it which is not the point of yoga. Also the schedule on their website could be much much much more user friendly. I still go once in a while to have a great class, but honestly I would go much more if things ran a bit more smoothly outside the studio. I now go more to another studio whose teachers are not as good, but where things always run smoothly.
Karma is one of my favorite yoga studios in the city. The staff is amazing, the studio is pretty, and they have a variety of classes. The prices is very comparable and often cheaper than many other studios. This is my goto for yoga!
I love the studios at karma. There is no mirror which lets me focus more on my practice and breathing and practice. I went to Rachels heated vinyasa classes religiously; she switches up challenging but fun sequences that target different muscles groups and breaks down challenging poses into smaller steps and make them a lot more accessible for intermediate yogis trying to deepen their practice. The gym upstairs is clean and spacious. There is never loud music, grunting and dropping of weights. I always leave karma feeling strong, calm and energized.
The Gym at Karma Yoga Studio is very clean with various and plentiful equipment offered to their customers. Their hours are very flexible for students, workers, and etc. I usually go in the morning or the evening; and occasionally, an afternoon run which may get a bit crowded. The staff at the front desk is friendly and they are there to assist you with whatever that you may need. The locker rooms are spacious and lockers are plentiful; just be careful to lock up your valuables, like in many other cases. And extra brownie points for the café.
Took a class here a few weeks ago and Im NEVER going back. There was no hot water when I went to take a shower, no lockers to put my things in, no faucet on one of the sinks, and no customer service from the woman at the front desk. I dont know how people attend this studio regularly! The owners must not care at all, because it shows everywhere in the studio.
There was a white female employee around 50. She was the front desk that day. She made me wait in the line intentionally even though I was the first. She would not yell at you but be rude by ignoring your presence.I was the first person got there. I was there to ask a question about my groupon and to take a yoga class. The front desk just blocked me with her answer that “I am not the manager so I couldn’t do this for you.”She was aware I was also going to pay for one time class to attend class on the day. Instead, she asked me to move my way for the next customer and help her to register for membership and process payment for classes. She was very friendly to her and chatted with the costumer about how much she liked her name and other stuff in front of me.I tried to tell her again I was also taking a class, after she’s done all the registration and chatting with the customer. She said to me “I know” and called the next customer who came after me.I complained to her about her ignorance. And she looked at me and said “I know you’re takkng class and I am not skipping you”. Then she called the next customer in the line. This was so obviously that she was intentionally being so rude to me!! That was too much!! She just lied and denied what just happened. She only served costumer coming after me and made me wait intentionally. I was waiting there for 20minutes. Instead of making a drama, I could only left since no one should be treated in this way. I will never! Never go back to the studio. Just want to let everyone be aware not maybe there’s racism or other kind of discrimination issues in the yoga studio. They dont harm your physical health but definitely not sending out good vibes for improving your mental health.
The instructors are great, but the receptionist has been so rude to me every time that ive visited, so much so that i will not be returning to karma yoga. its also far too expensive for non-members.
My prenatal yoga classes were here. Great instructor. The tai chi classes were also very helpful.
The place certainly has its problems. The owners dont give the location or staff any real oversight. That said, the practice rooms are beautiful and two of the best teachers in the city, Rachel Barringer andand Karma Longtin, have classes there...
I left the area and have tried to end the auto billing at Karma Yoga for two months, as has my partner and we are still getting billed. Ive come in, Ive talked to two people at the desk, Ive written an email and a snail mail letter but to no avail. Is it a nice place? Yes. Is it impossible to leave? Apparently. I will change my review but when I am no longer billed and rebated the $220 a month we have been paying is remedied. I am sorry to do this but I have no other way to let you know.
The worst yoga studio I’ve been to! The owner (who’s also the instructor of the class) is pretentious and unkind. He kept quoting “experts say...” in the class, and was interruptive throughout the class. Also, the receptionist is really rude to us and took 15 min to register us to her system. Will never come back.
Lovely yoga studio with very professional instructors and a nice area up front to relax and read.
Gym is clean and well lit with a good variety of professional equipment right in Harvard Square.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could.Well, friends, let me tell you. This is the most amazing work out and I always feel so refreshed. Atmosphere is more bamboo-spa than gym, which is nice. And classes that start before noon are only $10 - a pretty good deal around here! As Im a total newbie to yoga,Ive been taking the Gentle PhysioYoga classes. Karma and yes that is her name, is great and shows you so many ways to learn different poses and to ask questions without feeling intimidated. The classes are challenging but arent overwhelming, Karma Yoga Studeo is an absolutely perfect fit for me, and Im so excited to keep taking classes! The facilities are beautiful, the locker rooms are pristine, the cafe serves all vegan foods and sustainable teas and coffees. there prices and lessons are so affordable, I am so glad I found this place and I will continue to come here. It is so close to my aprtment and I can attend in the morning before work and after work. So if your looking for a great yoga class, come to Karma !!!!
Although my experience with the gym was mediocre (there equipment is old, they do not maintain them, and machines will stay broken for long periods of time) the main issue I have with this business is their service and billing. I attempted to sign up for a one-month contract because as I student I was only going to be in town for a short period of time, but they decided to charge me for a monthly contract, which has a four month minimum. The owner is unresponsive to emails and I have had to file a credit card dispute to prevent them from continuing to charge me, even though I do not live in the area anymore. I had specifically discussed why I wanted a one month contract with the clerk at the desk, but they still made the error and have refused to correct it.It has been over a month since I wrote this review and Karma continues to charge me for my membership even though I requested cancellation over three months ago. The do not respond and continue to charge my account. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!!!
I would NEVER recommend this class to anyone. The woman was rude to me at the counter and blamed me for the instructor not introducing himself to me because I was late, when I was 10 minutes early. And for the fact that he didnt help me with me poses. This was my first time attending a yoga class. All around BAD experience.
Easy going, clean, and great staff. Enjoyed yoga here.
