Mackie Properties managed a rental house for our family for about 5 years and we didnt have to worry about a thing! Mackie Properties took care of all of the HAND inspections, maintenance, finding tenants, collecting rent, and overseeing the property. They would check with me when something needed to be done so I always knew what was going on but I didn’t have to do anything. It was great to know the property was in good hands and being professionally managed. If I ever have another property to rent, I will call Mackie Properties first thing! Matt Carter also served as our real estate agent when the house was first purchased and recently sold. He has been our familys real estate agent for the last 5 houses we have purchased. Hes great.

Would not advice renting from property management. I just recently moved into a property that is just transferred under this property management and realized it was mistake. There is no one that’s openly willing to help you. And when you ask for the manager the manager herself is actually the rudest. I remember her name being Chelsea Hernand, her attitude was not professional at all and being a new resident she would not answer any of my questions even though she didn’t even hear any of my questions since she was continuously talking over me the whole time. The most disrespectful part was that she hung up on me after finished yelling at me. I was shocked at this experience.

Some aspects of my experience were acceptable and others were very poor.

Matt and his company are extremely helpful. Their move in inspections are exceptional. The tenants they found for my house were dependable, good, educated people. I have had no problems with them and my house has always been rented for the best market value. I will recommend Matt to anyone who is looking for excellent services. He will be always by your side in any situation whether it’s services at the rental property, helping you in court or just being there for you!

VERY attentive office staff. I’m thrilled to have chosen to rent from Mackie. Reported a non emergent request for maintenance. The office (Rachel) reached out within 2 hrs and maintenance arrived shortly after. Chad was excellent!

Took a month to fix our washer!!

After having to deal with Mackie Properties over the past 9 or so months, I have come to the conclusion that they are more than inadequate to provide proper communication and customer service to tenants housed in properties ran by them. They couldnt give 2 craps unless the property was burning to the ground. Shameful they are in business and over the housing of people. Ignored my issue request for 2 weeks turned out to be a major water leak flooding the foundation. Still havent heard from them, I went above and contacted the actual house owner to repair.

We needed lawn care, and they sent someone out that same day. It was done very quickly and I am quite satisfied with the work. Would definitely recommend if you need lawn care for a reasonable price.

Rented an apartment a couple of years ago, I cleaned the place very well before vacating it. I even took pictures to make sure I was protecting myself. Then when they did a move-out inspection (I wasnt present but if Im not mistaken, it was the next day after I cleaned) the lady sent me the pictures she took during the move-out inspection and they showed that the window sills were dirty. Like, as if I never cleaned them. So now you can put two and two together, if they werent cleaned, then I had to pay :(I was so shocked at this behavior. Ive never experienced something like this before. I would never do that to any tenant had I own a business like this. Remember, even if your tenants dont know, God sees what you do and one day you will have to answer for it. ! Anyways, if you want honest people to deal with, stay away from these folks.

When we decided to take our house off the market and rent it out, Matt found a tenant within a day or two. They took care of all the contracts and were in close communication with us and the tenants continuously. We had no worries the entire time, we were happy and most importantly, the tenants were happy! The tenants eventually decided to buy the house and Matt and his crew efficiently took care of all the items from the inspection that needed to be addressed. We would highly recommend Mackie Properties and their professionalism.

Best rental experience I have ever had. I rented from Mackie properties twice for a total of three years. The move in and out experience was very positive for me. Unlike other experiences I have had in other states- Colorado, Florida, and Ohio. The staff is very helpful when you call in for any reason. The maintenance team is also very quick and helpful when you need a repair. I loved working with Matt and the Mackie Properties team! They always addressed any concerns or maintenance problems right away. We felt really valued as tenants and they always worked with us. At one point we experienced problems with some neighbors (they were not Mackie Properties tenants) and the staff went out of their way to contact the city and the owners of the other property. The office staff was also very helpful, easy to work with, and were always on top of things.

I purchased a home that was already under rental contract with Mackie Properties. In spite of not being the person who had signed with them originally, I have been nothing but impressed with their professionalism, support, and communication, throughout the duration of that lease. Beyond that, the home had been damaged by the renters and Mackey properties lined up a crew, cleaners, carpet installers, etc. on incredibly short notice to help me make the home habitable after that. I highly recommend them, if you are looking for someone to manage your rental or if you are looking for a place to rent.

Our experience working with Matt Carter has been outstanding. He has been responsive, professional, and very knowledgeable about the Bloomington market. We sold our townhouse through Matt, and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for real estate or housing management.

DONT RENT FROM THEM! Over a year and a half period, my ac and furnace would not work after they would do a filter check, and I was told that those are not emergencies. That left me with no heat or no air for the 24 hours until they would come fix it, no matter the weather. This happened 4 times in a year. There is no snow removal in winter unless they charge you more. Upon them asking if I would like to renew my lease, I was told my rent would not increase, then when receiving the renewal I found out that was a lie. They also threatened to start charging for trash removal because people would drive up and put things in the dumpster. I put down $500 in pet deposits that they never returned despite little to no damage. I was charged for blinds that I never used (they were taken down upon move in and store in the closet until move out). I would only recomend this place to my worst enemy.

Having used three different rental companies during my time in Bloomington, I can soundly say Mackie Properties were by far the best rental company we used. They were respectful of us, attentive to the property, and always easily accessible when we needed to talk with them. Would recommend to anyone in Bloomington looking for a rental property.

Chelsea was the first landlord I had in Bloomington, that made me feel like not all of them were crooks in a college town. They are very caring of their tenants, and maintenance is never a problem. These guys are fair and are the real deal!

My wife and I moved into our condo yesterday. The staff has been extremely accommodating as has maintenance when we noticed a couple minor issues. Coming from a predatory apartment complex that cared only about collecting your rent oN time (who will remain nameless, but rhymes with Billennium Apartments) its been an amazing change of pace. Things were great until the moveout inspection in which we were specifically told that everything looked great and then blindsided with $300 in surprise charges. Another predatory management group

I communicated by phone because I was out of town looking for a place. At first everything was good but then everything when down hill.Communicate with them for a few days.They knew I was looking at a house but then all sudden there was another person looking at the house. I put my application in but the push through the other applicant before me. They will are thiefs!! I losted $60.00Never saw the money again. Shame on Markie Properties taking advantage of people.

I have no idea how they got my fathers number, but it angers me how they reach out to other of my family members to change my review and influence my mind ? What has been done is done. They did this to take advantage of their tenants and didnt think they would do anything about it.ORIGINAL:I felt at first there were a dependable business, but after living in one of their homes in a year, the quality in their houses are awful. At first we had to replace almost everything since it was covered in some black colored mold. Even the showers were covered in some black residue.At the end, the overcharged us to get the house back in shape ( 5/ a lightbulb) and literally took our whole security deposit.TREAD LIGHTLY

I called Mackie in hopes of hiring them to manage my property. Although Mackie was not able to help me, they utilized their network to find a company that can help me. They went out of their way to help someone that is not even a potential customer and they will be the first company I contact for any future needs.
