We have taken our automobiles to this mechanic many times through the years. Weve followed him as hes moved to different locations and recommended him to family and friends. He is a top notch mechanic. Our last visit will be our last. We had our daughters car towed to Fains Auto Central after breaking down on 460. They surveyed the problem in a reasonable amount of time and contacted us with the estimate. Doug said the car would be ready in a day or two. We were asked to pay half of the amount for parts which I promptly agreed to do over the telephone. After 30 plus days, multiple calls, trips, and many, many lies we were able to pick up the vehicle. We were promised 2 new tires for all of the trouble but of course our calls have not been answered or returned. The car will not run properly in AWD as it is designed to. We have struggled with knowing what to do about this situation and considered going to the BBB of Virginia. We have decided instead to forgive and move on but warn others about what happened to us. Thankfully due to the pandemic we had an extra vehicle. Many others dont have that and if we had not my daughter would have lost her job. We hope that nobody ever has to go through what we went through with this business.
Ive been to other automotive garages, and never before have I been treated so honestly and fair! The prices were amazing with quality work. I will definitely be coming here for all work needed and recommend Auto Central.
Ive been going to this shop since 2009 (when it was Auto Master). Ive had good and bad experiences over the years with them. Overall my rating is pretty positive though, I would certainly choose them over other Blacksburg based shops since their pricing is reasonable for typical repairs (e.g. fluid changes, brakes, etc.) and they have a shuttle so I was able to go to work or class.
Amazing customer service. Extremely polite personnel. Large waiting area, with big screen t.v. Comfortable furniture. Fast service!
Honest, fair, too busy but will be worth the wait because he will solve your problem.
This is rather heartbreaking because I’ve been to Auto Masters (the company who was bought out by auto central) since I was 18. Auto Masters was the most professional auto service I’ve ever been to. However, under Auto Central’s new management, my expirences have been overwhelmingly negative.1. I bought tires from them that were over priced and included a 50,000 mile warranty. One of the tires was defective and they refused to express the warranty on the tire.2. They charged me $300 for changing spark plugs, when they told me it would be $150. It took them from Friday to Wednesday to change them. On my invoice, the spark plugs costed $25 a piece. That seems off for labor and materials. I don’t know how it took them so long to change them also.3. I got a quote for fixing my power steering for $1,100 and got it fixed at JC’s for $450.I strongly do not recommend them as I now view them as one of the worst auto places in the area. I go to JC’s now and I’ve had great experiences.
I was contacted for an interview. I showed up the time and day for the interview and there was not a single manager there. Ive called many times to try and contact them and they wont answer or return my calls. VERY unprofessional for a business.
