My GE dishwasher broke 11 months after purchase and GE contracted Sears Appliance Repair (also known as A&E Factory Service) to come repair my dishwasher today between 1pm-5pm. At 9am this morning, I was informed by GE that the appointment has inexplicably been cancelled by the service provider. We had taken time off work and re-arranged our schedule to accommodate this repair window. Highly unprofessional.

I had to take time off of work to meet a technician at our house. He stated that there were two parts on our refrigerator that needed replaced, which he would order, and that they would show up in the mail. After two months, these parts have never showed up. When I first called Sears Home Service, I was told that the parts were in the mail. They still didnt show up. When I called back, I was told that these parts were never ordered, and I would need to see a second technician to order them. Now, after two months of waiting, I have to take off work a second time, to start the whole process over.I will never use Sears for anything again, and their warranties are a waste of time and money.Save yourself time/money, and look elsewhere.

Finally feel like something positive happened with the technician that fixed my Kenmore Fridge. He was a little bit older, had Equipment that he knew how to use and apparently had many years experience. Very polite and considerate, explained some things I could understand about refrigeration and I really felt he took his time, double checked his work and HOPEFULLY!!!! this time the Kenmore will last more than 2 days. Been going on since July 17th and finally I have high hopes of my fridge working a few more years. If not, Ill be sure to let your company know while I am still under contract with Sears Protection Plan. Thank you for sending this knowledgeable tech to my home today!!!!!

What I like about Sears Appliance Repair - I like the service guy who has come the last few times Ive had problems. He is very friendly, seems to know what hes doing and has good advice for avoiding problems in the future. What I dont like - Most recent repair seemed fine when repair man left, but then it started making a horrible noise and has continued to do so for the last week while we wait for him to come back. Also, I didnt know I got a preventative maintenance visit once a year as part of the policy. This is great! But I wish someone had told me a few years ago. Repair man just told me for the first time on his last visit. What I HATE - When youve got a problem it typically takes at least a week for someone to come and fix it. Current problem with refrigerator is perfect example. It was dripping water all over the floor but it took a week for repair guy to come. He determined that parts were needed, so water dripped on the floor for another week or two until parts came and he installed them. Then it started making a horrible noise and we had to wait another week for him to come back (a couple days from now) and hopefully fix it.

These guys are experts at what they do! The serviceman arrived in the window of time scheduled. He noticed, for example, that I stored a food item in the ice box compartment of the fridge, and asked me if I no longer wished to use it. When I gave him an affirmative response, he showed me the on/off switch. I never imagined there would existed that option! In sum, the serviceman went beyond the call and helped me for the life of the appliance.

3 stars for a Prompt and courteous serviceman, however the issue of extreme noise from my dryer was not fixed and the service rep said he thinks it is an issue with the motor, but as long as it is drying there will not be a repair. It is only 3 years old and has not been subject to excessive use. I was told to keep a journal of the machines workings and at the end of 1 year, that is when the warranty is up, to make another call for repair. Totally unsatisfactory. The side gets too hot and that issue was not fixed.

Very pleased with my recent Kenmore washer repair. The gentleman that did the repairs called to let me know he was coming soon, and arrived promptly. He was very professional and completed the repair within approx 1 hour. He explained what repair was done, and showed me where the part was located in the machine, and gave me some helpful information; I appreciated the extra tips that he gave me for future reference. I was given the option to purchase an extended warranty, but declined. I was very happy with the service done on my washer, and want to thank the repair man for his kindness while he was at my home. My husband recently had a stroke, and I now have to take care of handling home chores/maintenance problems and I appreciate it so very much when the whole process goes smoothly. Thank you!

Our top-end Kenmore Elite refrigerator, made by LG, began losing cooling after 13 months (12 month warranty). We lost everything in the freezer. After several calls to Sears with unresponsive agents I finally set up an online appointment for repair. It took 3 weeks for the first available appointment. The repairman literally scratched his head for 1/2 hour and decided the compressor was out. We paid for his visit and for the new parts to be ordered. After 10 days the parts arrived and a new repairman came to install the compressor. After he left the refrigerator was completely dead. I called Sears multiple times with no response. The next available appointment is over 6 weeks away. We have already been without a refrigerator for 6 weeks. Last night we went to a local appliance store and purchased a new GE refrigerator for another $2,900 and they will haul away our old dead Kenmore that is only 15 months old. Although we have purchased only Kenmore appliances for over 40 years, I am disgusted with Sears service and lack of response. Sears has lost a loyal customer for life!

I hope people really take this post seriously. I never take the time to review anything but I need to let people know. I had a terrible experience with Sears and especially the company locally that services Sears (A&E). My refrigerator is a Kenmore Elite (supposed to be one of the best from Sears). It is only 3 years old. It quit working on 10/30. I called Sears. They took a few days but got a technician over to the house 11/4. He was there for 20 minutes and said the compressor is bad. I asked why...its only 3 years old. He said LG just has problems with their compressors. I said, its not an LG its a Kenmore. He said LG is who makes Kenmore. That was a shock. Im not a fan of LG. He said the compressor was under warranty but the labor was not. I paid for the diagnostic fee of $89 and prepaid around $400 for the labor to fix it. Anyway, he left and scheduled an appt for 11/11 between 8-12 to put in new compressor. Thats a large window to sit and wait but I did. He never showed up. I called Sears repeatedly because you cant get local phone number for A&E who is the local company that repairs for Sears. You have to call Sears 1-800. No one knew where he was. Then I get a text message saying he will be there on 11/12 between 8-12. No one even told me that nor asked if that was OK nor explained why. With multiple phone calls and transfers, I tried to get answers and they couldnt explain it. So I waited again on 11/12 and he did eventually show up. I asked him what happened yesterday. He said he was sick. I asked why no one let me know. He said, he only been there a few months but sees that a lot and was sorry. Anyway, he was at my house for nearly the entire day (6pm) and couldnt get the refrigerator to work. He said the motherboard must now be bad. He said it worked before but now its bad. He ordered a new motherboard and scheduled an appt on 11/19 between 1-12. Another 4 hour window. He showed up, put in the new motherboard and said it all works great. Well, 24hrs passed and the refrigerator was still not getting cold. I called Sears again and asked for a different repair company. They said they only work with the one. I asked for a different repair person and they said theyd make a note. They set up another appt for 11/21 between 1pm and 5pm which was the only time I could be at the house on that day. A day later, I get a text that my appt. got rescheduled from 10-2pm. I couldnt be there for that. They didnt even ask me. I was so desperate to get my refrigerator fixed that I asked my Dad who thankfully had just flown in from Arizona for Thanksgiving to go there for me. The same repair technician shows up. He eventually figured out the problem and said the compressor was overfilled and not working so he let some coolant out of it and it started working. My dad asked if there would be another labor charge and Edward (the technician) said there probably would be. I probably wont pay it. So over 3 weeks later my refrigerator is finally cooling off. What a fiasco. Sears is a bad deal. Customer support is terrible. I can understand why it is struggling as a company.

Fridge was under warranty and quit making ice, then the whole thing quit freezing and cooling. Made a call, scheduled repairman to check it out. Needed compressor so he ordered it and scheduled repair the following Monday. A very nice repairman came to fix the broken ice maker in my fridge. He replaced a burned out motor and it made one tray of ice cubes and then no more. When I called to schedule a revisit I was told it would be almost three weeks before someone could come out. I feel that if the repair job you do doesnt work, you should correct it promptly. If it werent for the warranty, I would be contacting a different service. He came once more and it still isnt working.

Excellent and informative. Weve had the Sears repair plan for 18 years, with a good check over that has kept all of our appliances in great shape this long. Plus, the older machines are better/quieter so we have really learned a great deal over the years and appreciate the service people, who are always prepared to remove shoes or otherwise are very protective of floors, cabinets, counters, etc. They are also a very knowledgeable group of Sears-trained people. My appointment was for January 29 from 1-5. I had set it up a month in advance. At 4:45 I hadnt received a call or seen anyone. I called again at 5:05 and was given the supposed number to call the contractor directly. It was the wrong number!! I called again close to 6 and was told that I was still on the roster! Nothing - and I never left home or tied up my phone!!! The next morning Brandon from Ross Refrigeration called to say he was in town from Sheridan, Wyoming, to keep the appointment. He was prompt, efficient, and personable. He told me this happens frequently and that he has explained to the powers that be that he cant drive all the way up here for only one appt.!! I cant blame the contractor!! I am disgusted that I could not get good information and that the contractors telephone number was incorrect!! I almost always buy my appliances at Sears, but I will think twice about doing that again. I have been a customer for 40 years and am not very happy with the customer service I received from Sears. By the way, I have a service maintenance contract which seemed worthless as I sat for over 4 hour waiting for my appt. Please get your act together!!! Judy McCormick

Nightmare time. Refrigerator died June 15. First possible repair appointment was two weeks later. Of course the technician had to order a new control panel, First appointment to get that done was July 11 (three days short of a month since refrigerator died). That night everything was working fine so I bought some food to leave in it while on vacation July 12 through 21. Came home to find freezer at 42 degrees and all food melted. First available technician appointment is August 1, and hell have to order a part, so it may be fixed by Labor Day. Only good thing is I have service contract and can claim money for ruined food twice. Update: After SIX visits and 2 1/2 months, FINALLY fixed August 25. It wasnt the control panel, it was the compressor.

I bought a Master Protection plan with the new microwave. This appointment was just a yearly service check that took maybe 15 minutes. The young man did a couple of tests, told me it wasnt leaking radiation, which I was glad to hear. He gets the 5 star rating. However, Sears process to get him here could use some tweaking. He had to drive 2 hours to get here and only had one other appointment. Seems like there should be a service repair person closer, how can a company stay in business with the expense of gas, wear and tear on a vehicle. I would much prefer to call a local repair person and set up a time instead of somewhere between 8 and 5.

Sears sent three technicians, each of which had a different opinion of what was wrong with our washing machine. I will not let such people touch my machine until you send original parts and a service person who knows the LG machine. Also, dealing on the phone with your representatives has taxed my patience - sometimes I dont think they listen well. I am not satisfied, I would not buy another service agreement from you, and I would recommend that you change your business practices to get back to the company we used to know and respect.

Sears entered the wrong date and after i followed the link online to change the appointment time, it just stated that changes couldnt be made online and that I needed to contact the contractor directly. So I did. When a raspy voice finally answered, she told me its after 5 and I dont have my books... Call me again tomorrow. I asked if she could take my number and call me tomorrow but she said she was unable. So I asked if I could call again and just leave a message, she hesitantly said....ok. But she never called back the next day and before I realized it, it was after 5 again the next day so I had to call back again. Repair person was great! SEARS ABSOLUTELY SUCKS at scheduling and recordkeeping. I have four appliances under the optional warranty.Took a month to get someone here.Initially all four were scheduled for the same day. The washing machine needs a new boot so I thought I would have all of the appliances serviced on the same call.I called to confirm the appointment only to find that the range and broken washer had somehow been bumped more two weeks out. Sigh... ok.Sears calls the day before to confirm the washer appointment and TRIES TO SELL ME A WARRANTY for the washing machine that has a warranty!I finally get him to find my paid warrant and he assures me that the repair person will have the boot for the washer. Repairman gets to the house and has no record of warranty and does not have the boot! Waste Of time. He got the washing machine fixed enough to where it will limp by until the part comes in but Sears did not let him know that it needed the boot so now we wait.... again!I would not have purchased the warranties had I known how much time would be wasted. Money would be better spent paying an outside contractor a little more to make service calls in a timely and efficient fashion.Almost FOUR MONTHS to get the washing machine fixed. Had to hire help to unstack and restack the washer and drier.Regional manager called after I filled out a how did we do email.Chatted for a while and basically she was sorry and wanted more documentation so she could look into paying for the laundromat.I declined because laundromats dont give receipts and Sears has all the documentation needed to know that this repair took too long.Got a phone message the other day requesting a call back. I left a message at the number... crickets.Long story short, the extended warranty is not worth it at least in my case.I would have been better off deciling the warranty and just hiring a repair service when things breakdown.
