North Austin Y has the best pool in Austin. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean, well maintained, modern and comfortable.
Great facility, and welcoming staff! Really enjoyed the outdoor yoga class!
Very nice and clean. COVID-19 rules are being observed strictly as well.
Under COVID the YMCA has been following healthy and safety rules. You need to reserve a spot online, and they keep the capacity aligned with the current public health standards. The facility is very clean and their cleaning schedule is not just lip service. They reserve 15 min if every hour for cleaning. The Extenda car program is affordable and very well run offering a safe child care options for people that need to work and essential workers. The ymca is a leading example of what the new normal will be under covid.
Why do the people who work here yell? I sit in the lobby trying to do work on the computer and the staff is so LOUD!!!!!!!
Child care is awesome. They know my kids names when we walk through the door. They are always so positive and helpful. Best YMCA childcare program we have ever used. My kids are excited to go there all the time. The pool is awesome and well maintained. The facility is always clean and well kept. Our favorite YMCA in Austin.
I love this awesome facility! Currently, my passion is swimming in the beautiful, heated [usually around 81-degrees], 25-meter lap pool. Theres an entry to the pool area directly from the Womens Dressing Rooms, so I dont have to pass through the lobby in my swim-suit, flip-flops, and carrying my towel! There are various types of swim-boards that I can use, and a Life Guard is always on duty. I love to swim. [The photo is me swimming in my backyard pool, which is not heated. Currently the water temperature is 52-degrees!]
Wonderful classes & instructors! Beautiful pool area (in addition to the rest of the facility), with outstanding private shower & changing area for when youre done at the pool (or working out).Plenty of parking. Easy to find.I highly recommend you give this Y a try!
They are doing a great job with masks, cleaning, and social distancing protocols. Great gym, very friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
This is not the Y from my childhood.I havent taken terrific care of myself, and its caught up to me. But somehow, the teasing of schoolmates, and the discomfort of those locker rooms really had me dragging my feet. I dont like to be embarrassed for not being able to keep up in a class or be in good health. The staff is super - they recognize you, and listen to your concerns. The classes are fun, the other members welcoming. I like to stretch and do some Physical Therapy type work before Aqua classes. After the class, I sit in the spa, and I feel great. I talk to people. Im getting involved in a community. Its more than swimming or basketball - theres a wide variety of weights and fitness equipment, in addition to the interior pools. Its always clean, and people tend to be respectful.
I have loved coming to the Y for its fitness center. It has everything you need and then some. The staff is great and very helpful. The people that use the fitness center are also super friendly. I would highly recommend making the Y your new gym. Plus, it’s a really nice, clean building.
Five Stars really looking for 8 stars or more !
Nice pool and locker room. Great natural light upstairs. It aint the biggest one, but its clean and new.
Amazing water aerobics classes. Lots of open time for lap swim and the equipment. They also have a rooftop workout area which is amazing for circuits and yoga!
Recently had a tour of the facility. Staff was knowledgeable and there seemed to be lots of great classes and nice equipment. Staff in the childcare center was friendly and great with kids. Only major complaint was the change rooms are not well kept and smell really strongly of tinkle. Really need to fix that - major turn off.
I had cancelled my membership 10 days prior as I was supposed to in person and was told by a girl st the front desk that my membership was good until 4/30 and my credit card won’t be charged. I take a look at my account today and these asshats are still charging me for the membership and I was told that my membership was NOT in fact cancelled.TRAIN YOUR STAFF TO NOT BE IDIOTS AND ACTUALLY DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE DOING!!! And you better believe I will raise hell until this is fixed.
Great place. Kinda pricey but very close to my home. All the machines are so new and fancy and top of the line and the weight area is small but usually always available.
The group classes are fun and Im always excited to participate.
Excellent staff and facility. Works closely with community, constantly seeking ways to further involve the neighborhood. Is extremely interactive with the members, developing new programs to meet the needs of several cohorts.Staff is way more than routinely nice and efficient.there is a one to one energy that is rarely achieved any more.
Swim class for adult is very bad. First the teacher look like a teenager and do not seem to know how to teach an adult. She just stay in the water as a spectator and watch you practicing. it doesnt matter if you know or not; she just cant help you besides asking you to swim or float without showing you how to. The worst is she can even find it funny if you mess yourself in the water. They need to hire somebody who can be patient with the adults(student) and show them step by step how to succeed. Kids class look ok but I started to search somewhere else online...
Beautiful YMCA with so many amenities. My kids regularly go to the daycare and the staff are so nice. Its really comforting knowing that my kids are well taken care of while Im working out.
I love the variety of classes offered and the times they offer! I love the Zumba, rpm indoor cycling, and yoga classes! The staff are always friendly and helpful!
The yoga is consistently high quality and so supportive!
This is the best y in Austin. Clean, very nice staff, there are times when its not packed.
Excellent facility with very friendly and helpful staff. Im mostly a lap swimmer, and have been very pleased with those facilities. The pool is somewhat small, four lanes, but Ive never had to wait long for a spot to swim as long as I time it so Im not there when swim team is. The pool itself is a good temperature, and I appreciate that there are kickboards, pull bouys, etc. available for borrowing. The locker rooms have always been clean and in great condition, and the suit drying machine is fantastic, love not having it wet in my bag. The hours go pretty early and late so they make it easy to squeak in a workout even if you work full time! Im so glad I joined and plan on being a member as long as I live in the area!
I love this YMCA location! Lots of friendly staff and a variety of programs!
The weight training section is basically a hallway. Not much equipment. No squat cage. the one that looks like a squat cage is in a corner where there is some equipment packed together and crowded. and it is in a weird place too. slight miss handling of any equipment could result in weights falling to the first floor into a basketball court. Decent cardio area. The weight training area is smaller than their check in desk area and same size as the computer usage area. Its a big freaking building poorly used. Maybe the person who is supposed to design it was not paid or maybe a high school graduate who has no idea what he is doing.
GR8 GYM. but more important GR8 people, all the staff is top shelf!!! Acon is an. Outstanding trainer & instructer. She provided me with detailed orientation with an emphasise ON safety with equipment and excercise. Thank you all.
I was always a member of the Y when living in another state so I decided to join the Austin YMCA when I moved here. This location is closest to my house and I visit 4-5 a week. I mostly only use the fitness center here, it is clean, the equipment is modern and well maintained and it is rarely crowded even during peak hours. The only reason I cannot give this location 5 stars is due to security concerns. This Y doubles as a community center, people from the area can hang out downstairs, use computer lab, basketball court and bathrooms free of charge, while this seems nice it brings up some concerns for paying members. On numerous occasions I have seen community members sneak upstairs into the fitness center. This location needs to do a better job at monitoring who should be in certain places, possibly place an employee near the stairs and have paying members scan in there to use the fitness center. Also know this location is in a rough part of town so always be aware of your surrounding especially at night.
I am involved in Livestrong at the Y - it is a great program for survivors and just what I needed. The facility is clean and has many activities to be involved in. The staff is friendly and Alcedes and Steve have been great in running the Livestrong program.
I am very thankful for this YMCA. This neighborhood needs more activities for everyone since this part of Lamar and Rundberg feels so depressing with all of the fat food and cheap insurance places. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They even got us back a football we lodged ontop of the roof! This YMCA offers:gym, basketball court, swimming pool, computers and much more!
Joined 4 days ago and LOVE IT! Daycare is sooo wonderful! Great with my kids and flexable for my workout schedule. Highly recommend
Great YMCA in town! Peaceful people, great workers in he front. I met my girlfriend there (:
Not for serious workout buffs, theres not much capacity and people tend to occupy the machines without sharing.
Super friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere here.
Wonderful staff, great value, new machines, sparkling clean, kid-friendly. Wish it did more neighbor-events, like a getting to know your neighbors party or something.
Last month I tried to get it cancel my membership they told me they could only do it 5 days in advance so I waited until July 8th to cancel it before july 15th and they are telling me that they can get a cancellation notice but I would be charged this month because I had to give a notice on 10 days in advance, I was told wrong at first and I don’t go there anymore only went there for the ballet classes of my daughter but she didn’t seem to like them enough to attend anymore only went 4 times max and they are charging me for not even attending doesn’t seem right to me, sorry to disappoint but do not recommend it.
Ive been going here for a year now. I started taking Adult Swim Lessons and besides the facility the staff as well as the members are GREAT!!!
