Love this place. The gym etiquette of the members is of the highest standard - weights are always racked, everyone is courteous, and the equipment is legit. If you’re serious about lifting this is where you want to be.
Easily the best gym Ive ever been to
Great gym to work out plenty of free weights, machines and Plat loaders and squat racks, my favorite place... you can maximize your work out all the time....
We love Gym One. Such a wonderful community of passionate fitness individuals. Everyone here is so encouraging, no matter what level you are or what youre trying to achieve. Got a question, just ask - anyone! The gym is fully stocked with whatever you need, for every type of workout. Their in house masseuse, Tammy, is awesome. Their trainers are AMAZING. Best GYM 💎 in town!
Great gym for the most part. Some aggressive and unwelcoming regulars, but generally people are friendly.Big concern is enforcement of COVID policies. They’ve done a really good job of providing sanitation stations and cleaning, however select people regularly group together and socialize in close proximity for extended periods. Also a concern of seeing some gym goers not wiping down their equipment afterwards. Staff doesn’t say or do anything to break up these groups. Same goes for people not wiping down their equipment. I understand it’s a small staff though. All that being said it’s an excellent gym with great equipment. Just God forbid if someone catches corona or if you accidentally walk in front of a regular’s camera and they yell at you. Photo is from a week or so ago.
One of the best gyms in town. I’ve never waited for a squat rack or deadlift platform because they have so many of them. In comparison other gyms in town it feels you are constantly waiting on them. It also feels like home and everyone is friendly
Randomly added $25 to monthly pass. $70 a month was already pretty steep
Gym staff are very knowledgeable, approachable and welcoming. The best part about the staff is they are not pushy like the sales people at every other gym Ive been too. Trainers floating around the gym make it easy to gain Fitness tips and learn different techniques. I would highly recommend this gym of you are a physique competitor, bodybuilder, athlete, or just looking to get in shape. Clean atmosphere with an old school hardcore lifting vibe. Also, the gym is never crowded when I go in the mornings. Minimum distractions is a plus also (only one tv in the gym).
High quality gym and great environment!!
Great Gym.Masks are always enforced and you need to pass a temperature check before entering. I see majority wipe down their stations after working out, and even staff will walk around making sure everything is racked and clean.I always felt safe working out here during Covid times. I worked out in the early mornings, so this activity was the norm.
The members are considerate and rerack their weights. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Selection of machines and equipment is excellent. Basically the polar opposite of Planet Fitness. I love it here.
Wonderful gym! Clean, new equipment, amazing trainers and the staff is warming. Definitely the place to be to get strong and in shape!
Best gym in town. Constantly updating equipment, More importantly than anything else, Cleanliness takes priority over everything. I would challenge anyone to find a dust bunny anywhere in that place.
Gym One is the best gym in town for anyone that loves to lift weights! Friendly staff, trainers, and coaches that truly care about their clients. Gym One is constantly updating equipment and quickly fixes any problems with machines. I highly recommend everyone checking out GYM ONE! Also huge shout out to Justin Wecker for coaching through my first power lifting meet and always pushing my limits!
My #1 go to place whenever visiting from overseas. Super friendly staff, all the equipment you could ever want and a nice no gimmicks vibe. Already look forward to my next trip over!
The best gym in Austin- hands down. It is very clean and open. There is all the strength equipment that youd ever want; it has better stuff than a lot of bigger chain gyms. Even when its busy, it doesnt feel over crowded. The owner and entire staff is very friendly and respectful: if you want to chat, theyre happy to; if you want to be left alone and lift, they wont bother you. Its one of the best options for gyms in North Austin and the city as a whole. Some of the negative reviews here are truly unwarranted. I moved out of Austin and was so sad to leave this gym. Ill be moving back soon and cant wait to join again. Definitely check it out!
I have had many different gym memberships, from big commercial gyms to open air bodybuilder gyms (no heat/no ac) and I am very impressed with Gym One. Its clean, equipment is nice and laid out well. Bathroom/locker area does not disappoint either. Both staff and other members are all nice and welcoming, like extended family or good friends. On the personal training front, I am so pleased that I chose Yuri. I always look forward to my training sessions with him and he tailors my sessions to me and my abilities and goals while working around any injuries I may have. I always walk out feeling better than when I walked in. I would def recommend this gym. Thanks Gym One and Yuri!
Update 08/28/18:My previous review is still accurate; however, be prepared to have other gym members inform you (while you are using the equipment) that they have reserved it in advance. This wouldnt be an issue if the gym had more than one decent flat bench.---I thought I liked the rustic, garage-feel of my old gym, but after two visits to GYM ONE I am sold. The gym is spacious, well lit and clean. The equipment covers all the bases and is well maintained.
I have had nothing but great experiences at Gym One. The staff is friendly and dedicated to creating and improving the gym to benefit members. Its never overcrowded like a big box gym and theyve dedicated a ton of space to multiple racks to accommodate high volume. They have a dedicated turf area that has a ton of useful applications and now they are upping their class schedules to fit member demand/input.On top of all that they have in house sports massage and again, a super friendly staff who always took the time greet me by name, and give me an encouraging word.If youre searching for a new gym, this is the best environment Ive found in Austin. Youll have a ton of tools available to get the most of your experience. Highly recommended.
Great gym
One of the best gyms for lifters Ive ever been to. The vibe is people getting after it, highly recommend!
This gym is by far the best gym in Austin. Yes it is a more hardcore gym but has all amenities that suit all types of people looking to get in shape. It goes beyond what most gyms have in Austin as far as equipment and has all top of the line machines. If you are a serious powerlifter and/or bodybuilder or just someone looking to workout I couldnt imagine going somewhere else. Staff is awesome and very friendly, multiple trainers that are great as well! No sign up fee, no termination fee, everything is straight up! If you are in Austin and living in North Austin this is the place to be. Gutted I moved will miss this gym!!!
A hidden gem in Austin. Im a regular of their evening hours.Excellent depth of equipment that exceeds the Golds in the area, especially when it comes to leg and back training. The facility is comfortable and well maintained. I see the decorations and equipment increase in subtle ways every week or so, I love the poster of Lee Priest flying the bird.I dont have much to say about the trainers since I havent taken their services, but they seem to keep their clients over the long term which suggests to me theyre meeting expectations.Im giving four stars because this gym has a lot of potential, but I think it needs to grow its clientele to have the potential for atmosphere and comraderie that would make it perfect. However it may be that Im going off-peak hours and dont have a complete picture.
No BS gym. Patrons and employees are friendly. You will almost never wait on a piece of equipment, especially deadlift and squat stations. They have a lot of machines that I havent seen anywhere else. Highly recommend
Great lifter’s Gym! Talk to Yuri. He is a real class act. It is a real gym, so respect the place and respect others, and you will have no problem.
My wife, Amber and I have been in and out of Gym One as a paid guest for years and have seen it evolve from its location off of West Anderson Lane to where it is now off of Brockton near the Domain. For several years we stayed at Golds off of Burnet and never thought we would leave. That changed about 8 months ago. Amber and I visited on a Saturday and couldnt believe how much the gym had evolved and the respect the membership showed to the gym. Everyone put their weights back, people who used chalk cleaned up after themselves, and everyone was welcoming. The other part that got our attention was the clear attention the ownership put into selecting the equipment and the thoughtfulness of its placement in the space. This ranges from cambered curl bars with just the right angles, to vertical leg presses, to platforms, all the way to a grade A reverse hyper. The other part I enjoyed was that the gym was filled with lifters, actual lifters. Not people who wore racer backs at 145lbs screaming while doing triceps press downs whose mom told them they had big biceps are after making them a PB&J with the crust cut off, but actual lifters. The gym is full of legitimate power lifters, bodybuilders, and every day weight training enthusiasts who share the same respect for the gym and training as those who compete professionally and around the world.Outside of the gym itself, lets talk about the staff. The staff is made up of some incredibly talented and intelligent people in the fitness world. Not just that, but they are friendly and know how to teach. Their trainers dont just sit on their phones, they teach. On top of that, their main staff team comprised of Bruce, Nick, Jonnie, Robert, and Yuri (RIP my friend), are some of the best folks you will ever meet. This is one of the few gyms that I have been in that the ownership is directly accessible and cares. The owner has taken many individuals under his wing, and I know many of them, including myself, look to him for mentorship, guidance, and support in both lifting and life.Overall, GymOne has worked hard to create a quality gym with a true quality environment that fosters growth physically and mentally. I am proud to say that I am a member of this gym and thank them for welcoming Amber and I in with welcoming arms and 200s (That I may or may not be able to use. Ok, I cant use, but I saw them once so that counts for something).
I have been at Gym One for over a year now. I will be there for years to come. The management addresses every issue quickly, everyone is treated with respect. Im old so my workout is light, my son is not and his is a pretty heavy workout. We both find the training we need and the equipment to get it done right.
Great gym run by great people. The atmosphere is great, and although Ive never used one, as far as Ive seen, the trainers are great. I had every piece of equipment I needed, and way more that werent exactly something I needed but seemed useful. Never had to wait for open spots at the old location, and the new location looks even bigger. If its in your area, I fully recommend joining.
Great gym with great equipment and staff. The awesome Nikki Gunz trains herself and all of her personal training clients here - that speaks volumes about the gym right there. The place is very clean, almost disinfected feeling but I prefer that over a rusted out tetanus box. Rarely crowded and the regulars are of all ages and disciplines... good place for the casual lifter or dedicated athlete.
Great gym, no nonsense. Its not fancy. It just has what you need to work out. It leans towards strength training more than cardio machines.
What a great gym. Very spacious and all up-to-date equipment. I love checking out new gyms in every city I go to and this one was a great experience
Love this gym, Ive been going to GYM ONE for a few years now and the new location is great. Has all of the main equipment that you need for lifting along with a lot extra equipment for targeted exercises. Usually enough equipment to go around during peak times which is a big plus for me. The staff is very friendly and will help answer any questions whether you are new to a gym or been going awhile.
Good gym but never a person working the counter when I arrive.
Smile and agree if you want this gym to listen to you. The only customers they care about are happy customers: complain, ask questions, have concerns? Then this is not the gym for you. Read the owners comments on Google to understand the mentality of the management, its absolutely bonkers.
The best gym in Austin. Not overcrowded at all. People are going just to workout only. Clean and organized equipment.
Awesome place. Great equipment and space, nice people too. Covers a big range of fitness styles, so whatever you prefer to do for fitness you should be good to go.
Love this gym. Its big, clean, got great equipment you wont find in other gyms, & the employees at the front, trainers & owner are really super cool people. Plus, theyve got great shower/changing areas - very spacious. Plus, youve got Kinetix Sports Massage right in there too, if your muscles need TLC.
SCAM!!!They recharged me 5 times after closing my account. Everytime it was the same song and dance, youre good this time, I swear.Absolute clowns.
Everyone is a big family here! Great variety quality equipment and amazing staff!
Great local gym. A lot of equipment, weights and cardio machines. Some of the best power lifters and trainers in Austin work out here. Brand new showers, lockers and changing areas. Very reasonable monthly fee for unlimited access.
I loved this gym for a number of months, but then suddenly the owner/co-owner that manages their Facebook page decided to inject offensive politics into their online presence - decidedly alienating who knows what percentage of their customer base. When I expressed my desire to cancel on the basis of the kinds of things they choose to post - seeing as I like for my gym to be free of divisive political content - the attached images show the non-apology I received. (I also included a couple other examples from their Facebook feed of what they consider appropriate communication.) If you care about what kind of people are on the receiving end of the money you spend, perhaps youll find this information helpful when making a decision about going here.
Great gym and great people! I love training with Yuri every Thursday morning.
Great staff and friendly community of members. I got 2 free weeks to make sure I was happy with the facility and equipment. Everything you could need to get fit and no shortage of trainers if you are looking to get some guidance.
Was given a two day trial, and wasnt able to make the second visit for over a week due to work, at which point I was hassled (in the middle of my sets) about whether I was going to buy a membership. Two people get to hassle me in life...my wife and my boss. Im a grown man, not some teenager looking for free workouts. Ill pass, thanks.
Ive gone to this gym for at least 4 years now. First at their anderson location, now at their braker location. These guys know their stuff. Plenty of squat racks, dumbbells over 100 lbs. Turf and sleds. Whatever kind of training youre gonna do, they have the equipment. Once you go hear, this gym will literally ruin other gyms for you.
Great gym for powerlifting and bodybuilding needs. Has a small gym feel to it. When I went in the mornings it usually want busy at all.
Great gym, especially for powerlifting training, with excellent equipment and really friendly staff
Loved this place. Sauna was a big plus. I moved and had to go to another gym, and they ended my membership without much hassle as promised. Will definitely come back here if my living situation permits it.
Using this from a different email but my name is Terria Jones . I joined Gym 1 to train with a trainer by the name of Chris Greene . Chris Greene was referred by a friend . Myself and another lady paid Chris for two weeks of training . Mr Chris Greene texted both of us night before our session, and stated he could no longer train us . We both were told that he would be leaving our money at Gym 1 with a current employee . Three of his clients had just paid him . Chris Greene has not given us our money back, and will not return calls or text. I am posting this to make anyone currently training with him, aware of what hes done to 3 of his clients .
In my opinion, GymOne is one of, if not the best weightlifting gym in Austin. They carry an excellent balance of Bodybuilding/Powerlifting friendly equipment, while providing an assortment of classes and aerobic equipment to suit others needs as well. Ive been coming here for years and will continue to come as long as I live in Austin, or until they kick me out!
This place rocks! Itd the perfect size and has a lot of good equipment. Love the towel service and wet sauna too.
I needed short term gym access and they provided a free week with no contract. After that, $15 a visit. Had the basics but thats perfect for me. Very friendly.
Great little gym. Not crowded. People just working out not hanging out.
Good clean gym, never too crowded and has all the well maintained equipment you need.
Came from Out of town for a quick workout, such a shame I didnt have more time, this place is treasure chest for the serious Lifter. But there is something for everyone also.Clean and SPACIOUS. Day fee was a little steep but totally worth it. Allow yourself atleast an hour and half here. The random Pitbull in a sweater was awsome.
Great people and nice gym.
Awesome gym with plenty of quality, well maintained equipment. Gym population is about 50% general fitness/personal training, 30% powerlifters, 20% bodybuilders. There should be something for most everyone here - unless you want to do Oly lifting or Crossfit, they arent setup for that (thank God).
Great equipment, clean area, friendly staff.
Lots of strength equipment, squat racks, power racks, lots of room, nice people, good parking.
My favorite gym for strength training!
AWESOME GYM! Great weight selection and atmosphere!
It’s nice.
Friendly people and never overcrowded.
Best all around gym
Just had a REAL massage done here and all I can say is wow. The lady who did my massage (Sorry, I’m terrible with names) did an excellent job working out my very tense muscles and gave me some helpful tips on how to keep my problem areas in check. From the moment I walked in, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The facility was very clean and well kept. There were 2 very cute, friendly dogs there also, can’t leave that out!I’ll definitely be back for another massage soon. Thanks again!
