Staff is rude and unprofessional, equipment is okay, locker rooms and showers are dirty. It takes months for them to address maintenance problems.
Stopped by for a vaccine and was pleasantly surprised by the intricate cow skull motifs above the arched entrances. My journey took me upon wooded surfaces smelling of sneakers and success. Post poke, I exited in a subterranean fashion only to be delight to find street level in an Escher type experience. Well done, would recommend.
Very cool 4,000 seat arena on the campus of the university of Texas.
We went for our second vaccines at Gregory Gym Wednesday, March 3rd. UT provided shuttle service for those needing assistance. Volunteers and staff directed us to accessible entrances and elevators. The check-in process went smoothly and vaccination stations were readily available. UT Health did an excellent job setting up Gregory Gym for the vaccination process. We travelled from San Antonio to Austin for both vaccines. Thanks to UT Health and Gregory Gym!!
A great loud venue for UT Womens Volleyball. We sit by the visitors and we hear them say that this gym is rocking and loud.
Great venue for UT womens volleyball.
For the time being, Gregory Gymnasium is being utilized as a COVID vaccine site for UT Health. Every worker and volunteer is more kind, considerate and helpful than the next. There is free parking and shuttle service to the Gym. It was a wonderful experience. High praise goes to the organizers and everyone involved.
Very clean facilities! The pool seems to be popular
We were there for Covid shots. Very pleased. Very organized. Well done.
2nd verse, same as the 1st! Fauci Ouchie pt. 2.10/10 would get penetrated by a stranger again.
Used to play a lot of basketball games here waaaay back in the day lol. Alot of good memories!!
Great old landmark...If you care about UT history this is a must
UT did a great job getting lots of people their vaccine in a short amount of time. 👍🏻
Smooth and speedy Covid-19 vaccination site. Got shot within 5 minutes of arrival and appointment time.
I would say the building is ok. Was there to get the covid vaccine so though I was glad to get the vaccine I still hate shots! So not real good association with the place. Ushered in, ran through a rat maze, stuck in the arm, watched for 15 minutes to see if my arm would fall off or something and released back into the world. Guess its an ok place, got to go back one more time and probably never see it agsin.
Very positive experience getting first dose of Covid vaccine at Gregory
Staff was nice and very informed. Lines moved very well.
Covid vaccine done here fast and efficient
Well I got a Covid 19 shot there lol.
Great place great staff cool atmosphere and a great place to get your early voting done!
They offer membership for someone outside of UT. It is not an open concept like most of newer Gym buildings in other Universities. So you have to walk around to know where you want to go. No Olympic Lifting which makes sense... But would like to see more area for functional fitness trainings..
Vaccines for Covid-19 done here.
Got the Pfizer vax from UT Health!
Good gym. If youre looking for a full treadmill experience with tv, music, and all, go somewhere else. Also, dont come here for seated cable rows. You wont find much.Overall, I like it here. It has a surplus of amenities to suit your workout experience. Just dont show up with a workout preplanned. You have to survey the equipment and build your workout around whats available.
Well organized vaccine clinic
Great place to catch some UT Athletic games or intramural matches. Always a very popular spot to hang out and work out.
A great venue to watch some great college volleyball! My daughter and I had a fantastic experience! Best part was after the game when the players came back to give autographs and take pictures with fans!
Always difficult to get a power rack at virtually any hour of the day. Unless youre there early in the morning (like 6 or 7 when they open) youll likely not get a good workout in. Also there are no kettle bells which seems like a minor thing but for the amount I pay in tuition they should have a few.
10/10 made me feel like i’m getting gains
It has most of facilities needed in a good University gymnasium. Its free for UT students and its open till late in night on most of the days, so its very convenient and affordable as a student. I will recommend UT students to please visit Gregory gymnasium and pursue the sports of your liking.
Generally a good place to work out. Great pools, indoor track and basketball courts. The weight room could use a few more back pull machines, and it gets quite crowded after 11:00a or so.
So many amenities. Its a great, updated gym with so many things to do. They have many basketball/volleyball courts and a full fitness/weight room with plenty of equipment. They have quite a few raquet ball courts and extremely nice pools outside, some for laps and some for free play. Theres a nice indoor track as well as a great rock wall. All the equipment that you need to do your desired activity, they have ready to be checked out. Great place.
Its a great gym but other universities have better newer facilities. Also its always so crowded I feel like UT could do well to invest in a new facility closer to west campus.
Fairly good equipment, but beware of heavy user traffic at night on weekdays.
Electric atmosphere that lends itself to watching too tier volleyball. Hook Em!
Being a UT student, I have the advantage of utilizing all the equipment at Gregory Gym. My frequent trips to the gym include running on the 3rd floor indoor track, dancing in the two aerobics rooms, and taking a swim in their swimming pools. My all time favorite activity to do at Gregory Gym though is actually read/study. On the second floor they have an activities room with pool tables and lots of tables. Its a great place to study with minimal noise. Another great place to study is outside next to the pools to give you a relaxing atmosphere to focus.
I was working at this venue during a UT volleyball game. The volleyball fans are very energetic and enthusiastic! The only problem I saw at Gregory gymnasium was be difficulty getting to and from and in and out of the restrooms.
Good well
They gym is fine, lots of free weights if you are looking to lift. There are 7 basketball courts but usually at least one is taken by intramurals, two are taken by volleyball, then the other four are actually usable. Fine gym, dont know that its worth $12 per trip if you dont have a membership.
Beautiful architecture and nice to watch not packed games in
Great atmosphere, very family friendly and not a bad seat in the house.
Is a place where ut college students come & play sports or different activities is called rec sports
Good gym but I hate their water bottle policy. If you left your water bottle there even 1-2 days previously, you might as well kiss it goodbye. They throw away their water bottles for some reason, which is completely ridiculous to me.I lost 3 water bottles there forever because of it.
The facilities here are outstanding. Weight rooms & machines, bikes, treadmills etc, racquetball, squash, handball, basketball, rock-climbing, yoga, table-tennis, swimming pool, steam-room ... (Apologies if I missed your favorite activity. If it is legal and vaguely sporty then it is probably available. Check out the website.)Associate membership is about $50 / month and is open to all. IMO parking and traffic are the only downsides versus (for example) Lifetime Fitness. With careful planning those can be somewhat mitigated: parking is free after 6pm (5pm if you dont mind pushing your luck) at the many the city parking-lots nearby.
Beautiful facility. Great equipment and the best place to work out in Austin. Love this place!
What a great venue for volleyball. Love the old-style. Careful in the narrow bleachers.
The track is nice and cooled. Rock climbing looks great but I think its only open on certain days. The weight room is also a good place and has a machines for everything.
Historic old gym... Great environment for volleyball... Could use a few (by that I mean A LOT) more restrooms. Bleacher seats not comfortable at all...
The equipment is varied, but expect to find a full gym in the afternoons. The main weight room is also closed at certain hours during the morning while school is in session. The rock climbing wall has also been recently renovated.
Awesome sports venue. Well done, Longhorns! Easy to get around, and clean.
Lots of great memories here. As far as college facilities go, this one is my favorite on campus. In addition to having a lot of space, and cool facilities like a rock-climbing wall, its a great social center.
It was great
Located in the heart of the UT campus, Gregory is probably the busiest, most crowded gym in Austin. Given the size of the student body, the weight room is woefully inadequate. However, the outdoor pools are fantastic during the hot summer and make a great destination for any tour of the campus.
One star is for the grumpy students at the service desk. Refused to give towel for guest pass and sounded very rude. The gym would get like 2 stars. Have good squat racks, only one deadlift platform, old equipment and the entire place has only one weight room, which I think is not typical for a top university gym which charges $12 for a day pass. Bathing areas in the locker rooms doesnt even have a soap. Pretty old sauna and no steam room. Went with great expectations. I would rate the University of Minnesotas gym 1000 times better.
Great spot to work out after class
For an old refurbished gym it is really nice. Compared to how it looked in the early 80s it looks incredible.
A little small, but good facilities
Good place to workout and play racquetball
I prefer a gym in a garage over this place
Awesome place to workout and meet people.
Professional staff and relatively clean facilities. Weight room has everything you need for a good workout
I go to Greg about 4 times a week and I like the gym a lot, but I don’t necessarily love it. Especially during the beginning parts of the semesters, the gym could get extremely overcrowded which makes it a bit harder to work out, but there isn’t really anything Greg can do about that so just a fair warning that the gym can get really packed. I like the variety of machines they have because my home gym didn’t have most of these machines so I feel like I am getting a lot more targeted work outs done when I go. I also took swimming classes at UT where we used the Greg pool and I loved it. The indoor pool was so peaceful, I could stay in it all day if that were allowed. I really enjoyed the depth of the pool and how people don’t tend to go there very often so I had a lot of lane space to myself. There is also a Shake Smart in Greg which is convenient placement because I can go there whenever I forget my protein and still get my fix for the day in. I def recommend checking Greg out at least once, or more, if you are into working out!
Super great but still Id rather do my exercise outside cuz the campus is very beautiful.
Gym facilities are good overall. Taking into consideration the number of people that visit on a daily basis, they dont have enough equipment. Cardio machines are only a few.Theres only one and sometimes two volleyball courts that are always full. It is very hard to go and play without having to wait. The 25 cent lockers are deteriorating and many dont work.It is okay if you go during a time of the day that is not very crowded. They have saunas, swimming pools, basketball courts, racquetball courts and an indoors running track.
Nothing like having a set of full benches and an indoor swimming pool in the same building.
Good gym, but a little small considering how many students it serves. I try to go early in the morning or late at night, otherwise its a madhouse in there. Good equipment and other facilities though.
This place is always kept cleaned. People here are cool and ive seen people encourage others to keep going. Theres also courts to play football, volleyball, or to just run. Theres obviously the gym, but overall a great place to work out.
Awesome place for sports freaks
I used to be someone who didnt like to work out, but this place converted meNice facilities and quiet atmosphere
Equipment is not maintained property. Always something broken. Locker rooms are filthy. Often the same dirt is the floor for weeks. Tolliets overflow all over the floors. Sauna needs to be refurbished. A lightbulb has been out for 2 months now. That is a simple example on how poorly the sauna is maintained which is a reflection on the maintenance overall. Staff is friendly and except for locker rooms the other areas are very clean.
Heres the skinny:PROS:21 Squat Racks.Nice Weights.Great Hours.CONS:Poor Ambiance.Too many bros.Too many BS gym rules(no chalk, must wear shoes at all times, can only DL in certain places).Too Crowded.
Really not much to complain about. The place is always clean. Theres plenty of equipment/options available if you go early.
What a great gym, the facilities are incredible, and the pool is amazing.
Low on sports equipment but great facilities
Nice easy way to pick up your Amazon orders.
Good place to watch college volleyball
They need to enhance the place with more sports and also to make it a little more cleaner
The sauna always works really really well and the hours are very accommodating for early morning or late night gym sessions
Great. GO Longhorns
Great place to go exercise and meet new people. Have a rock wall, basketball courts, and an indoor track
An exciting place for a sporting event. Hook em Horns
Great facilities, large weight room and awesome aquatics complex
Gets slightly busy during the semester hours, but great otherwise
Nice gym, can be a bit crowded in the evenings but very nice equipment and machines.
Love the environment, just wish the seats were more accommodating.
Great gym with a variety of exercise equipment, courts, and pools. Central on campus, and great for a workout almost any time of day.
One of the best gyms in town. Great pools (leisure, lap, indoor), weight equipment, multiple cardio areas, basketball courts, track, raquetball, squash, group exercise program, and cheapest personal training in town (which doesnt mean cheapest quality by any means). Downsides is it follows UT semester schedules so closes too early on Friday and Saturday, between semesters, holidays, and tough to park here unless you live nearby and have access to UT (excellent bike parking, however). Not 24 hours. Indoor pool hours only certain times of the day. Can get sponsorships for discounted membership. Clientele are mostly students, faculty, staff, and a few community members. Weight equipment is heavily used and disorganized (nested plate weights, pads need replacing some areas, missing barbell weight clamps). Avoid peak hours. Has shake food service, towels, and Amazon pickup.
I love that people people mind their own business at this gym. And theres no guys trying to hit on you or staring, its pretty great.
Great basketball. 7 courts with good competition.
