Fast, excellent customer service. Wide selection of trucks and no restrictions on towing like Enterprise. Excellent daily rates, plus no per mile charge like Uhaul. You can tow with their 1/2 ton trucks. I got a Tundra crew cab that had an integrated brake controller so you could even tow trailers with electric trailer brakes. Two thumbs up!
Lifesavers: every rental place was booked on trucks for weeks they were so great and found me a Dodge 2500 that day! Everyone was easy to talk to on the phone and in person. The truck was immaculate. Highly recommended, and local, which is becoming a rarity. When you are on the feeder road south of 51st look hard to the right so you dont miss it and have to make the block!
Drove 2 hours and 45 minutes from Dallas Tx to the Austin location to be told that they had no truck for me I reserved the truck 2 days prior to going they sent email confirmation and everything the ladies at the counter was rude and not once made eye contact with me did nothing to accommodate my reservations basically told me they was going to call and let me know but got busy but as she say I would have been on the road already poor customer service poor business ethics I just feel like if I was anybody else I would have left satisfied but I’m very disappointed considering I heard so much great things about them
I get excellent customer service, the van is perfect for my business, and always professional ~
Ok, let’s talk about this placeI think it’s deserve less than a one because of the front desk lady her name “Knsten“ I guess, regardless of her madness and attitude and looks like some people they experienced it before “ based on the reviews “That lady she charged me extra 2 days commercial insurance and she only gave a policy for one day only and when i confront her she started laying and trying to make looks i am the lair here, I told her you have a copy and will send my copy to your manager, and also will report your rudeness and bad attitude with me in person and over the phone, i am a owner of company and she made stop using longhorn rentals, just because of thatI am waiting for the her boss to do something and for my 2 days insurance refundAlso this unprofessional and disrespectful employee should be not be there anymore
Better rates & overall experience than any other moving truck rental places. Highly recommend
A very inexpensive alternative to the major car rental agencies. Longhorn has great service, great cars, and they are one of the few places that rent trucks. If you are in Austin, TX., they are a hidden gem.
I was in a jam and I needed a 1 ton truck fast with a fifth wheel attachment. Longhorn you save the day ! Thanks again!
Took a long time to get a vehicle. It was nice though that we got to inspect it for problems before renting.
Cancelled my 15 passenger van reservation, I booked since April . Before booking in April I was assured a van as long as I booked ASAP . They call me days before my trip to tell me they won’t have a van for me, the lady gave me an attitude an hung up . I will not trust them ! Not even an apology. Would not recommend this place to no one .
Very nice, helpful staff. Id recommend.
My experience was terrible at this place actually the customer service was zero and the place was very disorganized they don’t know what to do, i got rental truck from here, and was so bad and has mechanical issues i called the lady on front desk, her name knsten i think, she was super rude and hanged up on me while i am talking, then I returned the car in same hour and she still changed me for three days, i will definitely send an email to her boss about the service and her rudenessNever come back again to this place and will tell everyone I know not tooAnd for you guys please do some things to change or at least talk to your employees to be respectful
Service was quick and friendly. Easy. Needed to rent a 1ton with fifth wheel hitch to move our RV. They had plenty in service. Quick. Would recommend them if you need work vehicles.
Fast and friendly service, clean trucks!
Awesome place to rent a truck from. 1 week 3600 miles less than 1000. Had an issue with tire and ended up purchasing one and was reimbursed fully. Would defiantly recommend and use again.
Do not book with them, not a reliable company !!! Cancelled my rental 1 week before my trip !!! All they can say is “ we are calling ahead so you can make plans we don’t have a vehicle for you “ ? Excuse me ? How about calling me 1 month Atleast ahead !! Not no week !! Don’t trust them
Rented a 15 passenger van and thats what I got. I got a 2017 Ford Transit XLT van with tinted windows and individual seats. The location is easy in and out. People complain about wait, but they need to confirm with your insurance company and make proper notes, otherwise its pretty standard. Just plan 30 mins for pickup. Staff is very friendly. We could only fit three standard carry-ons and had to force close the door.
The desk lady didn’t tell me about their 100 miles per day policy and charged me extra since I drove to Houston in a day. I got maybe a 1/4 of my deposit back. Scammers!!! I want a refund
Great staff and great prices
These folks get it. Fast, and friendly. Helpful.
Longhorn Rentals is the best. Theyve made a loyal customer out of us!Weve used them for moving trucks as well as vacation vehicle rentals. The staff is amazing and the prices are better than you will find with the national brands. The level of service is far beyond what you will experience elsewhere. We will definitely return the next time we need a rental.
Best rental company I ever used great staff and great cars!!!!!
Ok so heres my experience renting a truck from Longhorn...when I wanted to rent here I was kinda worried after reading some bad reviews since I was going to drive from Austin to Las Vegas and pickup my stuff in storage and then drive back. Its a freaking LONG drive!!But I called Longhorn and told them about my concerns and their pricing was much better than U-Haul or Penske or even one way trips from Vegas to Austin. I have to say they did great with customer service in every way...I told them I had one hell of a trip coming up with 20hrs there and back and over 40hrs driving and heres what I rented and what they did to the truck before I rented it to make sure by trip was safe and without problems.- 15 ft, 2019 Box Truck with only 40,000 miles- New front tires- New brakes- Oil change- Diesel fuel and diesel exhaust fuels both fullAnd they gave me their repair techs cell number to call anytime on the road in case of problems or concerns. Seriously I got treated very well and I just finished my grueling three day drive and dropped the truck off. Also went through a snow storm in AZ around Flagstaff and this truck handled just fine thanks to the new front tires they put on for me.The miles I paid were 15 cents a miles compared to way over 70-90 cents a mile charged by U-Haul or Penske and the rental was very affordable and also my Geico Insurance covered the truck no problem at no extra charge. This is my 5 STAR review for Longhorn Rentals since I have read so many bad reviews on here and I had a really quality experience renting from them!My advice, make sure you know that the truck you are renting has good tires, oil change, good care and give Longhorn a try since they are priced way better than other truck rentals and their customer service rocked!
Was in desperate need of a quick car after dropping my vehicle off with a mechanic over my lunch hour. Not only did they give me a great car at half the price the larger chain company wanted, but they picked me up quickly and had me back on my way. Super friendly service as well - I will be using them for any future needs!
They keep ignoring our calls, our emails and have completely blown us off. We have renting from this company for years and they have not resolved this issue. 1/5/20They still owe us close to $6000 in overpaid rental insurance fees. 1/5/20BEWARE!!! If you are a small business and use this company read carefully. Very tricky contracts. We have been renting from this office for over 8 years. We always get great rates from this company. We have auto insurance that covers us bumper to bumper and they are charging us for their in house insurance. $8000 for insurance is crazy? They have overcharged our credit card by $8000 and refuse to refund us even though the manager said he would just give us future credit towards a rental. We have tried multiple times to cordially find a solution. We are in current deliberations with them, hopefully this can be resolved and we can restore our relationship with this company. We look to rent a fleet of vehicles if this can be resolved. I would love to change this to a 5 star experience.
This is a copy of an email I had to send to let them know what I thought of the way they operate their business:To whom it may concern,Wow. Wow! I can not believe I have to write this email this morning concerning my first and last attempt at doing business with Longhorn Rentals. My wife and I made reservation WLH0005530 on 11/22/20 on YOUR website for a Ford Explorer or comparable vehicle. Her family is coming into town and we need a vehicle to transport 7 people, 6 adults and 1 child, until 12/8/20. I show up this morning to pick up and am told at the counter that Longhorn Rentals no longer supplies Explorers and havent been for some time. Sorry, no options available for you. Then I was told in a manner suggesting blame on my end that We tried calling you YESTERDAY multiple times to alert you, we even left a voicemail. Here is the problem. They called my wife while she was at work. They called ONE time, not multiple. She is a hair stylist that works 10-12 hour days only 3 days a week due to covid restrictions. She has to book her days so busy due to limited working days that she usually doesnt have time to take a lunch break, let alone make personal calls while working, like yesterday. She got off of work yesterday at 8:30pm and at that time was finally able to review the voicemail. The ONE voicemail said that they would like for her to call them back. Naturally she assumed that this was to confirm her rental, so no big deal. Being 8:30pm your office is closed so she figured there would be no need to call back at this time of night. The voicemail did not say We have an issue with your reservation and need to talk to you ASAP. It also did not say We are unable to fulfill your rental and need to speak with you urgently. Keep in mind this was YESTERDAY. One day before our scheduled pickup. Also I would like to reiterate the fact that this reservation was made on YOUR WEBSITE. The women who we spoke to this morning gave off an ill attitude towards us regarding this telling me multiple times as I calmly and quietly walked out that they Called us multiple times and left a message all the while ignoring the fact that this reservation was done on YOUR site and they only called ONE day before we were supposed to pick up. The best I was offered was to go down the street to Enterprise Rentals and check with them. I did end up doing this as we needed a rental immediately and ended up paying substantially more than I was anticipating paying with your company.I find this way of doing business insulting and unacceptable. This was my first time attempting to give money to your company and please be assured that it will be my last. Between the bait and switch of the website, the attitude I experienced, and the lack of any resolution offered I am extremely frustrated, disappointed, and confused as to how your company operates itself. I will be taking this experience with me moving forward and letting anyone I know in the market for a rental to avoid your company with a wide berth. I have attached a copy of our reservation clearly stating that we have reserved an Explorer. I have also added a screen shot of your website TODAY that shows I am still able to reserve an Explorer RIGHT NOW. If Explorers are not available, how about you update your website to reflect that change? If it is and has been known that they are not available, but someone mistakenly reserved one, how about you call them WELL AHEAD OF TIME TO LET THEM KNOW.I am truly disgusted at the experience I had today. I hope that your company can take this as an opportunity to better itself.
Friendly and helpful. I would recommend using them in the future.
Amazing staff
I woke up to a dead battery, no neighbors to jump the car, and three appointments to drive to. Id never used Longhorn Rental, but they were fantastic—lower prices than what I was seeing at other places, a clean car, nice people at the counter, and efficient service on a really busy day. I will be using them again without question.
Easy peasy
We put a reservation in a month in advance and got a 12 hour notice that the truck wouldnt be available. Once they informed us that the truck wouldnt be available they didnt provide us with any alternatives, they just canceled our reservation and didnt help us resolve the problem. It was very unprofessional and I wouldnt recommend this company to anyone!
Simply Unbeatable. Great prices & great DIESEL trucks with low gas consumption and professional appearance. They are our #1 whenever any of ours break down. Good customer service. Keep up the good work Longhorn Rentals!
Always call these guys first when looking for a rental. There is no better customer service in car and truck rental.......Period. I have been a customer for over 20 years.
Been using Longhorn rentals at least last 10 years. Always 5 stars, trucks, personnel, service, just the best. Highly recommend!
Awesome!! I showed up without any advance notice and they had a truck ready for me in 15 minutes!! They even called to verify my coverage on my insurance. Something I never thought of doing but it was in my best interest to make sure.Thank you for your quick service!
These guys are always very friendly. Get your rental in a timely manner. Thankful they didn’t charge for the scratch on the truck. 👧
We were allowed to book a vehicle a day in advance good pricing, exactly what we needed. When we got there to pick up they would not allow us to pick stating we needed a credit card for an SUV. All employees do not have knowledge of there procedures and you had to jump through hoops when a credit card was retrieved.
Thank you Leah for checking personality for my wallet, I thought I left there. You guys are busy busy and you took the time out to go check. Again, I thank you for showing much concern. Great service!Jon JohnsonArmy Guys Moving
I love supporting local small businesses wherever I travel to so I always try to do my research prior to being in the city. I was a bit skeptical of Longhorn at first because of the reviews on yelp and google however I was beyond surprised when I had the best experience Ive ever had with a rental agency.I love Longhorn Car Rentals! They are the easiest, nicest and most efficient car rental company I have dealt with (and I have traveled and rented from various different companies all over the U.S. both small business and corporate.)Being under 25 I love them even more. I am 23 with a great driving record and at Longhorn I am not charged any crazy insane fees for being under 25.I have rented from this place three times in the last year each time I was in Austin and its been awesome. They picked me up from the airport and my rental car was a brand new each time! They were also cheaper than any other rental car place in the area.I would definitely recommend Longhorn to anyone looking to rent a car in the Austin area!
Excellent. Great rentals and great service. Good pricing as well. Need a van or trailer? Stop looking and start renting, you found it!
Truck was dirty and they do not have a smoking policy so pretty much every truck has been smoked in. Positive is that they do allow towing which is what we were looking for.
The Vans were nice and clean. No issues with performance. Everything worked fine.
Possibly the worst customer service experience in many years. I needed a vehicle that seats 6 so I ordered a Ford Explorer online whose description stated seating for 7. I received a confirmation email that listed the Explorer as the vehicle preference. I received a phone call confirming my reservation and provided specific requirements for renting this particular class of vehicle. I arrived to be told they did not have any Explorers or any other vehicles that seated 6. I was told I could have a vehicle that seated 5 which was of no use to me since I needed seating for 6. The clerk literally asked me what I expected them to do. I merely said I expected them to provide a vehicle comparable to what I requested online and he said Well we cant. He offered no options or help. The rep was extremely flippant and obviously did not care at all that I was extremely inconvenienced by this. I had to call someone to come pick me up and then asked them to drive me to the Budget/Avis location a few blocks down at Sears and within 5 minutes I was in a brand new Ford Expedition for literally only about $10 more than Longhorn was going to charge me. I learned my lesson trying to give my business to a smaller locally owned business like Longhorn. I will NEVER go back.
Ive rented from Longhorn a few times and never had any complaints until recently when I had a very disappointing experience. When I picked up the rental, there were no spots in the main part of the parking lot, so I parked along the south fence, next to a row of other customers vehicles. I looked around to make sure it was okay to park here, and saw no signs indicating one way or another. At least three employees saw me park and no one at the office said anything about where to park. When I returned that evening, my car was blocked in by a row of trucks--presumably parked so that the back lot could not be accessed overnight. My car was one parking spot inside the row of trucks. I had no choice but to leave my car there and take the box truck home with me. Not only that, but when I returned the rental the next day, they charged me for an extra day. I again looked around for signs indicating where to park and finally found a small sign inside the loading area saying not to park beyond this point. During the day, the loading area is often loaded with box trucks blocking this sign, which was the case when I was there. If they really cared about letting their customers know where to park when their lot is full, they might consider putting signs where the cars are actually parked or somehow indicate to customers not to park beyond a certain imaginary line. I understand their reasoning for this parking policy, but they do a pathetic job of letting their customers know it exists and then charge them for not knowing.
Excellent place for trucks. Good customer service. Locally owned. PS - I think that they also rent cars.
Even though they were busy they were very helpful and courteous. Thumbs up for Longhorn Rental.
I honestly do not know why this place does not have more updated policies. Their rentals are truly only for in-town usage. No unlimited miles like the other car rental companies and they are EXTREMELY slow.
This place fraudulently charged my credit card. Then falsified paperwork and sent it to my credit card company when I disputed it. I paid for 1/2 of my employees rental as a loan. I told the lady at the front desk that it was for a 1 time charge, she agreed and said my card would not be kept on file. The rental wasn’t even in my name. Sure enough they charged my card a second time 2 days later. I called and talked to Brian the manager at this location. He said that they will get their money anyway that they see fit. They are a deplorable company. Go with Hertz, Budget or Enterprise Rental. I normally say keep money local. But these people are con artists.
They have the commercial trucks we need but service at the counter always seems to be slow and the location is a nightmare. Easy to accidentally pass by and parking is terrible.
Excellent service. Phenomenal selection. Fair price.
I have rented the medium class trucks from them twice in the last month and each time the check out was prompt and the trucks ran great. These units are definitely used for mutiple types of work and are a little dusty but they are low mileage, well maintained and run flawlessly. The rates are very reasonable and the after hours return process is easy. Im going to use them again and I would recommend them to my friends and family. Good job Longhorn!
Have rented a few times from Longhorn and always had good experience. Can drop off after hours which is very convenient. Friendly staff. Prices could be better but thats all rental places.
Weve rented from Longhorn Rentals several times. Each time the staff has been wonderful to deal with, the process was very easy and the truck was always well maintained and in great condition. Highly Recommend them.
Well favorite rental place in Austin. Been working with them so many years now. Good costumer service.
I had some issues . Met with the owner what a fair and nice guy.
Great place to Rent.. Very Helpful Staff. Thank you
Very fast and inexpensive service. Great staff
Thrilled with the customer service and ease of use. I rent vehicles about 6 times a year and always use them first!Vehicles are new or great condition. Staff is awesome.
Ive used Longhorn for Heart of Texas Demo, ATX Renovations, Rubbish Inc, and a few other businesses over the years. Theyve always been able to get me a truck when no one else could or it was flat out too late in the day. You guys are great! Thank you!
Ideal for a small move or haul. Easy same day service.
Have had very good experiences with this place and some not so good. The only bad was the last truck I rented, was old and it had been beaten to the max even though it was a 2016 model. But I will continue renting since it is the only place I could rent a 3500 with a Fifth Wheel hitch.
Friendly, fast. Built for professional use but open for plebeians ;-)
Great cars helpful employees who will get you in a car.
This is really the only place you wont get gouged if you need a work truck. We have a small fleet of work trucks and one goes down for major service I call them first. If you need box vans or work trucks especially for a small business this is the place to go. Plus they are LOCAL!!
Weve rented passenger vans and box trucks multiples times from here and literally everytime the box truck has issues that we waste hours solving. Today was the last straw! Our tire blew out on the way to Dallas, they worked quickly to direct us to someplace that would replace it, and when both rear tires were off we saw just how utterly bald the one next to the blown tire was. What a huge safety risk. Minor issues here and there we can deal with, but putting people at risk like that is just too far.
The staff was friendly and quick. Good prices. A fair deal all the way around in my opinion. I will use them again
We rented a 24 truck to move some equipment. The truck itself was in *really* rough shape, but I didnt really care. We just needed something with a lift gate. Its no surprise that rental places gouge you on gas if you dont return it full. But we were on a really tight schedule and only used it for a 16 mile round trip. It did idle a little while because apparently the lift gate wont function without the engine on. We figured it would only be a few gallons, and we didnt know where to go to fill a giant truck. We figured it would add $20 to the cost and that would have been worth it....we were charged almost $100 for the fuel, plus an unexplained extra charge.I did some calculations after the fact, and a truck of that size should have gotten roughly 9 miles to the gallon, maybe more like 6 or 7 fully loaded (which it never was). Semis burn about a gallon an hour idling. So... 3 gallons would be expected. Maybe 4.There is either something seriously wrong with the vehicle that causes it to burn fuel like crazy (which is likely, given the overall condition of the thing) or the gauge is wrong.... or maybe they charge $25/gallon for fuel. When I questioned the amount, the only response was a shrug. It hadnt been full to begin with, so there was no way to measure the actual gallons used.If you decide to rent, expect terrible customer service if anything goes wrong.
These people are hideous capitalists! Didnt get the vehicle I reserved, had to rent a room cause the trailer switch was bad on the truck and didnt have running lights on my rv, vehicle was outrageously filthy inside and out hence the half cut straw and empty coke baggie underneath the seat only to be lied to when I tried to settle my bill at the end of my trip...dont walk...RUN! to anywhere but this place
Ive been a customer at Longhorn for some time now. Great prices, friendly staff, never the typical hassle you get renting from the other guys. Ive always been pleased with Longhorn, but I was so impressed last time we went to Longhorn that I felt compelled to share my experience here. We rent utility trailers for our landscaping business. We had a trailer in tow, full of landscaping materials, when our personal truck broke down on the upper decks of I-35 during rush hour. After a minute of What are we going to do!?!, I called Longhorn to let them know. I dont think this is something they regularly do, but they actually sent somebody with a truck to get us off the bridge and back to work. Of course we still had to deal with our truck, but Longhorn really saved the day by getting us out of a very bad spot. With that they earned our indefinite loyalty.
Really easy and affordable when thinking about renting a van or other type of vehicle, but the Lady there that answers the phone calls around this time is completely dreadful when it comes to customer service.Talks with a very condescending tone as if I had stolen something from them, or was attempting to do so, not to mention I could hear the sense of her wanting to get off of the phone with me.This would easily be a 5 star experience from beginning to end if it wasnt for that. I work in customer service and have now fr several years, and the way she handles anyones inquiries from what Ive witnessed is flat out unacceptable.
Not only did LHR Austin beat U-Haul in pricing, they upgraded me to a larger vehicle for free when the one I had reserved was unavailable (not their fault - several customers had not yet returned their rentals). If you rent a 24-ft diesel HINO truck from them, be sure to ask for a tutorial - how to work the lift, what a DEF recharge is, etc. Outstanding customer service!
I Rented a Truck for my Business for 7 months. Paid almost $15,000.00 total for Rental. I returned the truck and at the same time I had lost my debit card. Longhorn Tried to run my debit card for an additional $362.69, but that card was reported lost/stolen. I had NO idea of any additional fees OR I WOULD HAVE PAID THE FEES! Without Longhorn contacting myself about the additional Fees, Longhorn turned it over to collections. I was NEVER not even once contacted by phone, email, or letter about the additional cost, and Im in the process of buying a home....What the Heck Longhorn! Disgusted!!!
Reasonable prices. Made reservation online and van was ready for us when we arrived. Generous included mileage and helpful staff
Awesome well experienced staff, Ive been renting from them since 2004 with not even one single issue over the course of 13 years I do rent from them almost 10-12 times per year.
They were pretty darn ok 👌 they even emailed me my rental extension every time I had to extend my rental. The only thing was they only rent Toyota Camrys if you rent a car
The people at the front desk were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and friendly...you could just tell that they genuinely cared. Thank you Longhorn I will always remember you.
Truly they dont even deserve a star. Theyre customer service is horrible. Never will I recommend anyone to go there!!
The best rental service in town and all the employees are very nice
Renting a truck to tow our RV, they are very pleasant and their trucks are in great condition, we rely on them.
Great place to rent heavy duty truck when mine is in the shop. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.
Not a place to do business with. Especially the Manager Jessie very rude guy..Their trucks are old.
Very helpful when I had an issue with my car that was being resolved at Lief Johnson Ford. I got a very nice, low mileage current year vehicle that fit my needs perfectly.
Rented a van, was probably the best rental service Ive used. Van was great, checkout was quick and easy.
Horrible experience! Ive rental from Longhorn many times over last couple of years. Been roughly a year since my last rental & the amount of changes to their rental policies is ridiculous.I cancelled my reservation after having to deal with the changes & wont be renting from them in the future either. Was a great rental place now should call themselves Enterprise.Website also offers no explanations for the rentals either, you just get to find out what kind of crazy things they want when you get there.
Best prices and excellent customer service. The staff will make you feel right at home and they are all very knowledgeable about their fleet and prices
Love this place...they work with you.. still using the Toyota Camry we rented from them..its helps us a lot cuz are vehicle atm is still in very critical condition. A+++
Pretty fast set up...
The only place to rent 1 ton capacity goose neck capable trucks.
Nice rental place easy to use and sign up. Good deals for long trips or moves.
Horrible customer service ! I reserved a 15 passenger van 3 months ahead for a family vacation to Disney World. When I went to pick it up they didnt have it. They tried to give me to mini vans in place of it. Manager was rude and very inconsiderate. Two mini vans would be a double gas expense. Luckily Capps van was able to rent us a van and save our Vacation!
The worst customer service I have ever experience. The truck had a significant leak as well. Plenty of other places in town to from which to rent a truck.
They are so difficult and very rude! They dont work with you in anyway. Find better customer service
I have been a customer for years. Not only are they friendly, they are efficient and professional. I have never been shafted on a reservation, and when they get into a bind on inventory they make it right. Whenever there is a problem on a truck they do everything possible to get a better one to me. I will rent form them always!
Worst customer service ever. I rented online from their VERY misleading website. I went online to book a 15 passenger van. When I arrived to pick it up they said both of their passenger vans were booked and all they had was a cargo van...a cargo van with no seats so my guests would have to sit on the van floor. I told them I HAD to have it that day because plans had already been arranged and they continued to tell me they wouldnt rent it to me knowing that my intention was to have passengers in it, since there were not seats or seat belts. So I said FINE we wont be using it for people, well put equipment in it. They put up a huge fight knowing our real intentions and with much back and forth they rented it to us. However, they charged us about $100 more than the online quote for my original booking for a passenger van. WILL NOT GO BACK!!!
We are currently on a road trip in a truck rented from here. So far so good.
Nice folks.
Very quick and easy. The guys were very professional.
Excellent service, pricing, and equipment. Highly recommended!
