I recently moved here and I must say it is clean, quiet, and safe! Thank you Whitmore and its staff! You guys work hard to accommodate the residents, much respect to each of you! Just know everything you do is appreciated. Much love!
Samad worked with me on my move in date due to some work issues. The apartment was clean with fresh painted walls and new carpet. All appliances work. Close to to every thing. Thanks for a smooth move in.
Abdul is amazing, he’s very friendly. The minute we walked into The Whitmore he was waiving and smiling. He might be a little workaholic because he was actually working on a Wednesday (when they were supposed to be closed). You can tell he’s determined to make The Whitmore a better place under his management. I haven’t moved in yet, but will be at the end of this month. I just signed a lease here and I am confident under Abdul Fazli’s management, The Whitmore is going to only get better.Thank you for all your help Abdul! ☺️
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at The Whitmore Apartments in Arlington for 6 months, this was a perfect fit me for me and I wish I was able to spend more time here, truly! As graduate student completing clinical rotations in DC, the location was about 5 miles from the hospital I was doing clinical rotations at and very affordable to live in and so conveniently close to DC. I had brand new hardwood floors in my apartment and lived in a studio, but let me tell you, my studio did not look like a studio, it was huge, and spacious and looked like a one bedroom apartment, I had my own washer and drier and the living space was more than ideal for a single person with an open concept. The lobby is kept clean, and nice, the gym had up to date equipment, and was always accessible and the lounge is beautiful and cozy with recent renovations. Accessing packages was never an issue with my busy schedule as well. The move in and out process was so easy, thanks to Samad. Any problem or concerns I had, he responded so professionally and quickly and resolved them. Thanks to him, this transition to VA life was so smooth. He is the heart of this apartment, truly. He is beyond kind, professional and always willing to assist. Moreover, my neighbors are friendly, family oriented. and the neighborhood is relatively quiet. There were so many conveniences to living at this location Harris Teeter was a block away (walking distance), so many grocery stores to choose from all within a mile radius, same thing with restaurants. I’ve explored so many hiking trails and parks located so close by this area as well and there’s so much to do. Parking was never an issue and I loved to entertain my friends whenever I had some limited free time. Thank you for an wonderful experience! 10/10 would recommend!
I’ve lived here for almost year, and my experience has been almost perfect! I love my spacious two bedroom and I haven’t had any huge maintenance issues. This is the first apartment I’ve lived in and I was nervous about it but it feels like home. Being right next to Harris Teeter has been AMAZING and the neighborhood right behind the apartment building is so cute and safe, great for running. There is a bike path a few streets back that I LOVE. My only issues I’ve had was a leaky ceiling but maintained patched it up quickly. The property manager is so kind and the maintenance man is so sweet and helpful. Only reason I am moving is because I need a 1 bedroom and can’t afford it here. Highly recommend The Whitmore!
I just moved back to the Arlington area and I knew I wanted to live at the Whitmore since I had lived here before. I started looking about two months out, and was skeptical that I would find something that far out. I contacted the Whitmore and the new manager Samad could not have been more helpful. He did in fact tell me about a unit that he just received notice for, for the EXACT time for which I needed to move in. The whole experience has been seamless and they have all been incredibly helpful and accommodating. The price and location are great and the management staff is great.
To anyone thinking about moving into the Whitmore, I promise you that this building is one of the hidden gems of Arlington. My stay here, although a short one, it was one of the best and memorable apartments that I have ever lived in.The building manager, Samad Fazli, is God sent. He is patient, kind, and understanding towards all residents and can quickly solve any problems. My moving in procedure was a smooth one and rental application was approved asap. The common areas of the building are clean and well-kept. The building has package lockers which prevents loss of any packages. The maintenance addresses any apartment related issues instantly. The smart home features and UDR makes your life easy and paying your rent is a one-click procedure.I highly recommend The Whitmore. You wont regret your decision to move-in here but infact thank yourself for it.
Samad is the best manager for this company he very understanding and active in our lives and community and I recommend all to come and witness his wonderful work thanks samad
We just renewed our lease thanks to the new manager, Samad. From the first day he promptly responded to our questions. Most of the staff greet you with a smile but Samad really makes you feel like you are at home.We enjoy the view from our balcony and everything we need is easy to get to from this location. Also, thumbs up for the new gym that Samad had improved.
Good price and good management team. Very response to issues - my stove broke and I had a brand-new one in 24 hours.
I’ve lived here for the past year and overall it was a pretty average experience. Management is nice but maintenance hasn’t been very good in several months. At first they were great, but now when I submit a request I get a message in the next day or two saying it’s completed when it’s not fixed at all. It’s just confusing because they used to be really good. I’ve now had more than one bad experience which is just annoying when you’re paying a lot in rent. Also, I’m not sure whether this is an issue or not, but the washer in the unit above me leaked last winter and the entire wall next to my washer was black with mold. The first maintenance man said they would replace the drywall since the amount of mold was so significant. However, the next day someone came and spray painted over it and I never heard another thing. Maybe paint kills mold, I really don’t know, but it seemed like the cheap way out.
Its got everything I need. Its in a nice location. Its safe. I have never seen bugs etc in the unit. Its quiet I never get bothered by neighbors noise. I really cant complain this apartment has everything I need. I just signed a years lease again. FYI, the complex got a new manager named Samad he is a genuinely good guy.
We lived at the Whitmore for 6 years. It was one of the most affordable buildings that offered in-unit laundry. The location was very convenient and the recently opened Harris Teeter/Starbucks down the hill was a great addition.
Ive lived here for 3 years and I like it. I feel very safe and at home in my building which is very important to me as single woman. On this property I feel safe at any time, day or night, especially with the new bright lights that have been installed on the outside of the building. Each year there are improvements and upgrades to the community. This year the hallways are being renovated for more of a clean chic design. Also, were getting a newly renovated gym with all new upgraded equipment. In addition to that, the clubroom, which looks great now, is being upgraded. I just learned that the parking lot is being resurfaced and realigned which will be nice. The people who live here are very sociable and kind. Before COVID hit, I enjoyed our monthly socials. This community is very pet friendly. Pest and bugs are not a problem here. Our current manager, Abdul is very professional, courteous, thoughtful and kind. He cultivates this feeling of community. At The Whitmore, I dont feel like just another renter, I feel apart of a community.Of course there are some things I think could improve. This building has an old fashioned heating and air unit that could be upgraded. They have a contract with a towing company that is ruthless so be sure to follow all parking guidelines and have your guest follow them even if its just for a few minutes. In conclusion, if youre looking for a nice place to call home, this is the place!
Centrally located. But that’s about it. 2 of the 3 managers were good but you never know what you’re going to get. Everything was constantly broken. Even with military orders working with UDR is like pulling teeth. I’d recommend this if you work close and if you have a manager like Josh or Sam. Other than that..... never again.
Great experience with Mr.Fazli. Very professional and had answers to all our questions and addressed all our issues. A joy to do business with
Great place
We love our apartment! We had a maintenance person come and fix a huge problem with a water leak coming from another unit, and he was amazing. His name is Cristobal and was the most efficient, professional and sweetest person. I wish he worked at our location more often!
I lived here for two years with my sister. We didnt have any issues and everyone that lives there is really friendly. The maintenance and leasing office were both really helpful. We really enjoyed living there, but had to move because of other job opportunities. Its a great place to rent.
They will lie and tell you utilities are unlimited. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEY TELL YOU!!! You are better off living a few blocks away. There’s other beautiful apartments in the area for a much less monthly rent. This place is absolutely ridiculous. The utilities and fees add up to over $300. I’ll have friends and family leave their reviews. Not a secure place to live either! If security is a priority to you, this is not a place for you!
We were looking for apartments home to move in around the area. We really appreciate the help of Samad Fazli who showed us around and answered all our questions. He was so thorough in the tour he gave us and had a great personality. We really appreciate all his help in making a moving decision for us.
If I had written this review 1-2 years ago, I would have given it a much lower rating. However, the new management who have taken over, particularly the Resident Services Manager Samad, have made many improvements to the experiences of those living here. Samad in particular provides excellent customer service and clearly makes a lot of effort to hear and address residents concerns. He went above and beyond to help us when our plans for moving out in the Spring fell through due to COVID-19, ensuring that we were able to stay in our apartment without paying a month-to-month fee, well after we had given the Whitmore notice that we were vacating. This involved a lot of extra work and coordination on his part. It is also clear that this management team is going to a lot of effort to fix problems that previous management had left unaddressed during the time that I have lived here. Theres still some work to do, but things are heading in the right direction.Overall, the Whitmore offers a comfortable, safe, and convenient place to live. We live in a comfortably large, renovated one-bedroom apartment for a competitive price. Before COVID-19, I was able to easily access public transportation in and out of DC for work (both the bus and the metro shuttle are options). It is just 5 minutes from Shirlington and Ballston and is walking distance from a really nice Harris Teeter and tons of restaurants. They are also renovating a lot of the amenities and upgrading the interior of the building.
This review is an initial review, I have not lived here yet. The five stars are for the space that we have in the apartment we have signed to moved in February, and Angela. Angela went above and beyond to work with me and my significant other to lock down the apartment. She sat with me and guided me through the application process. She is awesome. As for the heating and cooling issue a few people seem to have in these reviews, I have no issue with this. In this area for the price, and the age of the building its inescapable. However, I am fortunate that my past experiences have educated me; when I saw the heating/cooling units I was instantly notified how the system might run. I have had apartments in the past, and even work environments that run their system this way. It sucks and it inefficient, but there is not much we can do about it. I am just happy that our rooms have their own ceiling fans. Now as far as living here- I obviously do not know how it will go just yet. But will report back when the time comes.
My fiancé and I have been living in the Whitmore for over six months now and have zero complaints! The management team was extremely welcoming and continues to be very responsive whenever we have questions or concerns. If you want a spacious, clean, resident-centric property as your next place to live, I highly recommend the Whitmore!
I toured and like this building. It has a nice views and wonderful environment, mr Fazli the staff was helpful and I am going to move in soon.
Nice place, Clean, safe, great community, fast services, special thanks for the Manager
I need to say that so far community and all stuff are so kind and polite, especially Samad who is such a good man and literally he wants to help you whenever he have a chance. The Whitmore is number one!
The Whitmore apartment was very conveniently located in terms of public transport access to work and shopping. We enjoyed our stay there; maintenance, if required, was prompt and very efficient. We would have loved to stay longer but a work relocation required me to move.
This is a beautiful place. And so close to work.
Amazing community and good vibes
Awesome place to live. Very customer friendly, the ladies in the leasing office...AWESOME! immaculate huge spacious apartments, great reasonable affordable prices, lovely gourmet kitchen, in the midst of stores everywhere Costco, Target, movies, Chipotle, Starbucks between Skyline and Pentagon, TOP schools, community college up the street, shuttle bus to Pentagon. Sheees! What more can you ask for?
Yep, having my lease canceled after extending it (which happened to all the residents in a dubiously legal action) and losing my home in 2008 rocked...Expect the bare minimum of service, civility and amendments from the management and just know that they could care less about you, no matter how timely you are with the rent and courteous you are with your behavior.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! today I found another mouse in my apartment... this is three now and my lease goes on till September. Management is horrible they do nothing to help ESPECIALLY Kristen she is so rude and does not care to help in any situation. She assured me they did not have a pest problem here before moving in and now she is saying she never said that. Also things in my apartment fell apart the very first day! and continue to do so... at this point I just wait for a few things to fall apart so i can put in all the service requests together. If I could end my lease early I would! find another place to rent!
Update: Disregard the first message. It seems these guys don’t actually back up anything they say when you sign. Roommates car got towed even though he has a parking pass. This place is a nightmare they love stealing your money, when there is absolutely no right to do that. Shady, terrible place. Regretful of signing to the core.My boy and I moved up here from Richmond and had the pleasure of working with Dylan Aker the project manager, and after coming in with no management here, he picked up our call and drove right out to show us the property. I was skeptical at first due to reviews, but Dylan informed me he actually just took over the property yesterday, February 16th, and has made it a point to turn it around.I’ve been in sales my entire life and he’s one of the most genuine guys in the leasing business. The rates are super cheap because of lackluster management, but it’s about to change going forward, which is why they brought the new management in. Good luck to everyone apartment hunting, I will recommend maybe giving this place a look, and experience it for yourself.
If I could give The Whitmore negative stars I would. Do not EVER lease from this apartment building. It is run by a complete scam of a company (UDR). You will get harassed by neighbors who are mentally unstable, and try to break into your apartment. Meanwhile despite calling the police various times, the leasing office will do nothing about it. You will have NUMEROUS leaks running down the walls in your apartment from the ceilings, and get told to “wait in line because 25 other apartments are having the same issue” or that because the leak is on a Sunday, “the 1 maintenance guy will not come fix it until Monday and it’s not an emergency”. Prepare for your dryer to completely ruin your clothing, and to have asbestos in the ceilings. And the best of all, upon move-out be prepared to get charged an absurd amount for false and fraudulent charges for claims of “stains and holes in your walls” that were not there. TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING before moving out, or else you will be charged for a speck of dirt on your floor. UDR is the absolute worst management company I have ever rented from. Not only is UDR awful, but the manager Kristen is the rudest, most unprofessional person I have ever had to deal with. Do yourself a favor and rent from a different company, and save yourself from all of the headaches The Whitmore will cause you.
We were very excited about the Whitmore when we first moved to the area, however, our experience here quickly went down hill after the first few months. Our apartment was nice, but had some serious issues with dryness in the winter and excessive humidity in the summer, which led to its own set of issues.Management was not proactive during our time at the Whitmore and was very unprofessional at times. The regional team is honestly no better. If you’ve got an issue to report, it can take a very long time for them to even begin addressing it and they will do everything they can to try and skirt the issue before taking responsibility. The property just got a new manager, so perhaps management may get better. Overall, management knows what they need to work on and hopefully they will fix the issues they are aware of. The community has potential if they were to put in the extra effort and drop the helpless attitude and be more customer service oriented.
They evicted a pregnant women 31 weeks with lupus. First let me tell u about this place. Move in the end of december and had a mouse. Was dealing with the issue for a minute. Kristen was the manager when i first moved in didnt remember the favors. She was horrible. Dylan the new one is no better. ANGELA LOVE HER SHEBIS THE BEST THING TO THE WHITMORE
Convenient location, helpful staff, apartments are very nice as well!
—BE WARE- HEALTH HAZARD- OVER 70 UNITS HAVE MILDEW and MOLD all around walls. We lived there temporarily for 10 months. In summertime around July, ceilings starts leaking. When we report rental office, all they did was peal off pop corn ceiling that was wet. So we lived 3 months with big holes on our ceiling. Talked to rental office about it, oh you guys are moving out so we fix it later. Few weeks later, we start seeing mildews and mild in AC units, bathroom cabinet, and kitchen cabinets. I wish I can load up pictures!!!!!! Please do not rent that property. It will make you sick as it did to me. We mived out a week ago, dr says it will go in couple of weeks with mildew and mold allergy. We washed and sanitized all cloths and households.Someone mentioned elevators constantly breaks and the building smells- you know why they spray air cleaner every morning.Corporate does not care either when we report to corporate. While all those health problems are going, all they care is to remodel and paint the lobby area to attract new tenants. The worst place we have ever lived with HEALTH HAZARD.
This review is about the building and staff: The Whitmore was the first home for our family and we have great memories from there and the lovely people that served us during the 5 years we stayed. The place was always well maintained, improvements were made, snow was removed quickly, shared areas were kept clean, maintenance team ALWAYS acted so quickly (problems were solved in less than 24 hours) and on top of that staff was always so helpful. It was just a great place to live :)ZERO Starts for billing department. At move out they were charging us an unexpected fee for carpet cleaning and when I called them to inquire about it the lady that answer the call was so rude, denied to give me her name, and said that it was my word against hers if rather the carpet had stains or not. Also in the past I had questions about utilities bill and their department was no bueno. Also over the years they started charging club fees to cover amenities (come on, you are way more expensive than the place across the street BECAUSE you have the amenities), then they started to charge for parking out of the blue, the club house is most of the time empty and they still charge $300 to reserve it.
Friendly environment, great apartment quality and quick service when needed.
I wouldnt recommend living here for anyone. This is the worst move-out experience I have ever had, just to go a mile away (and Ive moved across the country multiple times). I had notified management 5 days later than required that I was moving out, which resulted in paying fines more than $1000. My total fines and rent payment amounts were raised near daily on their website, and after visiting the front office multiple times they were still unable to answer any of my questions. When I reached out to upper management to discuss why my fees were so high and why so many of them werent on my lease, I got passed around for days until I finally was in contact with the business manager. He then ignored me until I had paid my rent, refusing to meet with me to discuss my bill. The apartment building management is one of the rudest and least helpful I have ever encountered.Other than my negative leaving/moving experience, the overall rent price is too expensive for the area - comparable to a location on the metro line, which this is definitely not. They had wanted to raise my rent over $100 more per month, which is the original reason I wanted to move out. Id recommend considering better options nearby that are closer to retail, or just moving to the metro line for the same rent.
Great customer service experience, lovely emaculateupgraded spacious apartments at affordable indulging prices, fast customer friendly maintenance services, very convenient to schools, community college, convenient to 495/95, fave stores and restaurants..
Since you cant leave a review on UDR Corporate. I will leave it here. The staff I just tried to negotiate with at the billing department at UDR on the phone a female who did not give me her name was EXTREMELY RUDE! I asked to negotiate the price because I felt swindled by the management at the Whitmore because I thought I had given the manager Kristen proper notice that I was leaving 75 days in advance in an email within the the Whitmore rent portal. I did not realize at the time that the notice to vacate letter was in an attachment within a reply that she gave me. I then gave official notice when I went back and found the letter within the email. Only after someone from UDR corporate called me to ask if I was renewing. I explained to them at that time that I thought I had already issued notice and they informed me that I had to submit the notice to vacate letter. Which I did which put me at 45 days notice of vacating. I then repeatedly tried to stay in contact with the management who told me if they could get my apartment rented before my lease was up they would try their best so I wouldnt have to pay. At time which I asked to extend the lease because our other place was not ready to move into yet, and surprisingly I didnt need to fill anything to extend the lease. That process could be handled over email, but vacating could not.So when I called the billing department to set up a payment plan. The lady at the billing department was extremely rude. I simply asked to negotiate the price because I felt like the process to vacate was done poorly. She said there is no negotiation you owe what you owe. I asked to just remove the late fees. She said no. I asked what payment plan could she offer she said $360 a month for 6 months. I said thats too much I cant afford that. She said well youre not giving me a payment plan. I said $100 a month . She very rudely said that is unreasonable sire. I said well I can do $200 she said the best I can do is $220 for 9 months interest free and repeatedly badgered me that it was interest fee and she didnt even have to offer that to me. I said why are you raising your voice and taking this so personally. Im just trying to negotiate a payment plan I can afford. Then quickly said ok Christopher I have to go now. I tried to keep her on the phone but she hurried me off and kept saying I dont have time for this.
This is a shady rental company that will sell your info to their other rentals and spam you continuously. Do not give them your info!
Lots of upgrades Going on. Really nice place
Poor customer serviceA lot of roaches
Concierge were impolite
I loved the apartments! It is a very good community to live in, quite quiet and safe. Samad helped us now to find our perfect apartment with good prices. I recommend them, he was kind, cordial and had a lot of patience with the whole process :)
