It took me 34 years and an appointment with Nicole @ Shear Chaos to discover how AWESOME my natural hair is! I scheduled a last minute appointment the other day. I had never been to Shear Chaos so I said I would take any available stylist. The stars aligned and my chakras were a glowing because I was scheduled with Nicole and my hair, and confidence, would never be the same. I have always had very dry hair that wanted to curl but would only do so in certain sections no matter what product or process I tried. Nicole asked me what I loved most and what was my biggest challenge with my hair, to both I answered my natural curl/wave. This was followed up with a whole lot of talking and explaining to which I will fast forward. The solution to my hair woes and the start of my now GLORIOUS hair story isn’t about an expensive product, lengthy process, or exhausting daily routine. The answer was how my hair was cut! Nicole listened to me and took the information I gave her to then used all of her beautiful Lady Goddess Wisdom to adorned my head with the thick, luscious curls my creator apparently intended! Ladies, I am not talking about curls that lasted the day… I am not talking about curls that needed a refresh on day 2. I am talking about beautiful curls that keep coming back day after day a week and several washes later. Curls that spring to life as they air dry while I am running around conducting my morning routine. In short, Nicole is a hair Goddess and if you want to be and feel like one too… She is just a call away!

Everyone at Shear Choas is extremely friendly. The Salon/ Barbershop atmosphere is welcoming to everyone. Plus they are highly knowledgeable on all the product that they sell just incase you arent completely sure what it that you need, or are looking for.

Never looked better, amazing staff top to bottom. The owners are awesome. Everyone is easy going and easy to talk to. The music is fantastic, wide range of good sounds. Staff always had insight on any hair inquiries and the staff was always attending training to pick up new styles and best practices. Best spot to get your hair done for 100 miles in any direction, no doubt.

My daughter cant stop talking about how much she loves her haircut, and its been a few days now. The guy who attended me has no idea of ​​cutting my hair, he destroyed my haircut in less than 3 minutes, I got up asking for the manager and very carefree told me that he was busy doing a haircut so he suggest me to come back at closing time again. ... but what kind of professionals are these? I didnt even receive a greeting upon entering, totally embarrassing ... and on top of that they charge $ 35 for a haircut !!! Obviously I didnt pay anything and I went straight to find some real professionals who had to make a great effort to fix the damage that this man did.

I moved to North East Wisconsin a little more than a year ago and among the many things about California that I missed was my barber. Well that was until I stumbled into Shear Chaos. The barbers are cool as hell and not only did I walk out with a great hair cut, but I noticed everyone else was very happy with the quality of work they were getting. I have a standing appointment with the beautiful and very talented Rae every 4 weeks until the end of time. Marcus and Jordan are both great at what they do and you can see how passionate everyone is about their craft. Tobin is hilarious and one of the coolest people Ive met. He and his wife own the salon/barber shop and they work along side everyone else here. Ive got difficult hair to cut since it just wants to stick straight out, but Rae knows exactly what she needs to do to keep me looking good. I get a cut, beard trim & line-up and a hot towel. Its me treating myself.Make sure you pop in a couple minutes early so you can relax and check out some of their hilarious reading material.

I recently had my first experience with Shear Chaos Salon. My favorite hair stylist decided to make a change, and had relocated to Shear Chaos. I can tell you, I have never had a more wonderful experience. From the time you walk in, there is someone to warmly greet you, ask if you need anything. The salon is very urban and unique, and has such a different ambiance than any other salon in the area. The staff is amazing, in both appearance and attitude. I can honestly say, that I feel that I have finally found my perfect salon. They offer a great range of service and products, and have an amazing referral program!

Ive been going to this place since is opened and I love everything about it. Kate has been cutting my hair for a few years now and shes a load of fun, hilarious, and is amazing at what she does. I got my hair cut in MN once and it wasnt like what she can do. She even said when I went back to Shear Chaos Someone didnt cut your hair well... Again, I love this place and even though Im moving out of state, Ill still wait till Im back in the area to get my hair stylized here!

I have been getting my hair done from Christopher for Id say about 3 years now. I have not yet had the opportunity to see him at work in Shear Chaos, however I am fully aware of his work as an individual and what he brings to an environment. When I met Christopher he was still in school, and I went there because it was cheaper. After finding him I have not let a single other person touch my hair since. Every time I walk into the salon I hand over my trust in him and walk out satisfied every single time. I never understood why getting hair done was like therapy for some women, until I started going to him. He has been more than a hairstylist, more than an artist, but has become a friend. Any place that Christopher goes to I would highly recommend because he truly is worth every penny of his time as an individual and as a hairstylist. Ive recommended and bragged about him to SO many people over the last three years, and have had so many compliments on my various hair styles from him. Even as Ive relocated to Madison recently, I will still only let him touch my hair. Any salon with him as a staff member is worth recommending to others!!

Speaking from the perspective of dude, I dont think there is anything close to shear chaos in terms of getting the perfect cut and shave. The atmosphere and staff make for a great experience every time I walk in for my monthly cut. Highly recommend the outfit.

Had two experiences at this salon, the first one was good, I booked an appointment and got a good haircut that I was pleased with and the staff was friendly and timely, that day.The second time I called the lady asked for my name, I spelt it about 10 times to be asked have I gotten a haircut there before I replied “Yes, about three weeks ago.” She then asks if I know the specific date and time, I had no clue what time 3 weeks ago I got a haircut at.She then asks if my name is Sean Vang after spelling it no joke about 10 times. She then says she will put me in manually and the barber I wanted a haircut with had a 5pm and 7pm opening and asked which one I would like, I replied 5pm would work great. She then ends the conversation with “Great, see you then.”I show up the next day to be told my appointment was put in at 7pm, not 5pm and there was nothing they could do and it was just miscommunication, no apology just a “Do you want to come back at 7?” “No thanks.” I said I won’t be coming back.Worst customer service experience I had from multiple employees at one location. That’s half the work of being in the salon industry is your customer service.

I just had my first taste of chaos and I have to admit I found it very enticing... In all seriousness though I loved the environment of Shear Chaos. The staff were all very entertaining and you could tell they all really enjoyed being there, not to mention the immense amount of talent and expertise housed within those walls. I cant rate it highly enough and will definitely return.Also the receptionist is smoking hot. Just saying...

Really cool atmosphere, the workers really know there stuff. But its not cheap! Be fully prepared to drop 50 bucks on a haircut and beard trim. Its well worth it though.

The Shear Chaos team has always gone out of their way to accommodate myself and my family! They have an amazing vision, a great environment, and are unbelievable stylists! We feel at home while at our appointments and always have a laugh with them. It is apparent that the Shear Chaos team is an extended family to each other and to us... Our whole family (even my children) go there to get our hair cut, styled, and highlighted! Love this group of stylists!

When I moved to Appleton, I came here for a haircut based somewhat on the great reviews, but also because the salon and the gals who work there have a fabulous funky and cool style - often an excellent sign that they know what theyre doing. And I have been extremely happy with my experiences here! I see Julia, and she has been exceptional in working with my hair as it grows out.

I used to have so much stress when it came time to schedule my haircut or color appointment. I have had some of the WORST haircuts ever....seriously the worst. That all changed when I went to Shear Chaos. There I met the only person I will ever let touch my hair. Kayla Eick has given me some of the best cuts and color work that I have ever had done. I will recommend this girl till I am blue in the face because she deserves some recognition for the work she does. In addition to making my hair exactly what I want, she also does a FANTASTIC job on my boyfriends hair and makes him look extremely handsome every time. You cant go wrong by booking your next appointment with this girl. So in conclusion....great shop, great company, and a tremendously happy lifetime customer.

My entire life Ive never had a haircut that actually looks good on me. That is until 2 years ago a friend recommended me to Kayla at shear chaos, and man can that woman work a fade. I absolutely love this place! About a year ago I was really frustrated with how my hair looked that I was just going to shave it off. I called up to schedule an appointment and was scheduled within a couple days. Upon entering I was offered water, tea, coffee, etc. etc. I told Dayna (unsure of the spelling) that I was okay with anything and to do whatever she wanted. I was extremely happy with how it looked and it made me feel really happy about my appearance!

Shear Chaos newest addition Chris has been my stylist for about 2 years now, and I have to say... hes amazing! Before Chris my hair was dry, lifeless, and horrible to work with. When I sat in Chris chair the first thing he asked me is what do you not like about you hair? which was closely followed by now describe what your perfect hair would look like. It was the first time I truly felt a stylist cared about what I wanted, and Ive been to some pretty upscale salons both locally and abroad. I left the salon with gorgeous unique color, and the first cut I really loved (Chris is a perfectionist when it comes to the cut). Chris also recommended I try out a new shampoo & conditioner and different styling products from Pureology. I swear these products have worked wonders!! My color lasts so much longer, and my hair is super soft and my (much needed) extra volume stays all day. It’s amazing how finding the right product can make all the difference. I’ve even swayed my husband, a self proclaimed barbershop cut kinda guy, into getting his haircuts from Chris. He’s always very happy with whatever Chris does. The atmosphere inside Shear Chaos is great too! The salon is eclectic and full of high energy, unique people who clearly have a passion for what they do. I highly recommend giving Chris and Shear Chaos a shot. Sure they’re more expensive than Cost Cutters, but you know what they say… you get what you pay for!

Terrible haircut and customer service. Avoid. Avoid avoid.The haircut was not what I asked for and looked horrible. The stylist recognized her mistake and told me that I would have to flatiron hair to get it to look ok.when I contacted the owners about the bad haircut - they ignored my email and call. Two months later, I am still trying to it grow out.

I went in there thinking I needed an expensive straightening treatment to get rid of my frizz...After a complimentary consultation, the owner talked me OUT OF an $80/hr treatment in favor of a $30 solution that would let me keep my natural curl and get rid of the frizz thats been driving me crazy. It was my very first experience with Shear Chaos, and through their honest desire to give me what I really needed even if it wouldnt bring them as much revenue, they made a permanent client out of me. I got referred here by a host of friends after a bad experience somewhere else...Their enthusiasm was entirely warranted!

Getting my hair done at Shear Chaos by Anne is the best 1 hour I could have spent being away from my grandchildren:) This was a gift from them and their parents for my birthday. We live in da UP:) and I have decided I will drive to come back, I have just found a new place to have my hair done! The place itself is an experience! The full staff are fun and engaging but know when to let you have you peace. I have not had a head wash that included a massage ever and I about fell asleep during it. Thank you Tobin, Anne and crew for the greatest one hour I have spent in Appleton...next to time spent with my grands:) Thank you I will be back. Awful experience. Let me start by saying it wasnt completely the stylists fault, as I put 40% of the blame on the stylist and 60% on the receptionist. My only request (as a new customer) was to see someone who can successfully complete a fade, thats it. This girl could not do a fade at all, in fact for a week I had to wear a hat to cover it up. Furthermore, as Im sitting there she says to me have you tried out our barbershop? To which I responded- I was never offered that as a choice. Dont you think this would ha e been a good question to ask if your the receptionist? The stylist was nice which is the only reason for the 2nd star.

I will no longer be getting my haircut anywhere else but here. The amount of customer care is amazing, right when you walk in for the first time, theyll have you fill out an assessment. They ask questions and try to conversate to get to know you and what youre looking for. Ryan was an amazing barber and will be who I ask for next. Its an experience that I really enjoyed. The art, antiques and other decor is amazing and just really brings character to this place. Well worth it and will be returning.

They are all really lovely people and are very easy to have conversations with. I always feel infinitely more confident after going here.

Good service, expensive but worth it.

I recently moved here from Los Angeles and was very particular about how I wanted my hair done. What type of style and the type of hair I have. I had a 10-15 minute conversation with the receptionist upon scheduling my appointment because I was a new client and wanted to make sure there was a stylist in the salon that was familiar with the ombré. She assured me that there was someone who was very familiar with the ombré/balayage technique and I trust that since she seemed like she knew what she was talking about then I could trust this salon.On the day of the appointment the first impression the salon had given me was overall welcoming and I was relieved to see that there are some diversified style in this city after all especially because I am new to the city. I had requested a consultation with the stylist at first to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted, I showed her a picture of exactly how I wanted my hair to look. (The picture was of a friends hair who was a relative of mine with the same exact type of hair that I had) she had voiced her ideas and techniques of how she was going to proceed with my hair in which I felt comfortable she could do.After 4 and a half hours of being in the salon and sitting and waiting, my hair came out nothing like how I wanted and expected. There were indeed some corrections from the previous color but they charged me $330 for a hair style/cut that I did not ask for. Perhaps what I initially asked for was a little bit too over whelming for the stylist, however they should have made it known to me that it wasnt something she could do as it would have saved me my whole Saturday of sitting. Normally in leaving a salon, one should expect to look flawless and happy and feel like a whole new person. The day I left shear chaos, I let a great deal of disappointment and waste of money. I felt horrible for being so upset about my hair because the stylist was very very nice and friendly and patient with what I had asked for. I felt it necessary to at least give her a $60 tip.Further, my hair does not look like an ombré of sort that I expected. And it certainly does not look like it was worth a total of $390. Luckily the manager had suggested that I come in again and have my hair fixed to the way I want and had ask for where my hair would look like it is $390 worth. It was a very dissappointing day because at first the salon seemed trusting and I felt like I was finally going to get the hair Ive been asking for. Towards he end, I didnt even receive a proper blow out and style, my hair was just blown out to dry and he hair cut was straight and dull. Yes, my hair did look better than it did when I came in, but now $390 better. My hair lack character the cut was very straight cut and dull. I left the salon that day almost wanting to put my hair up or do something else to style it like braid it or something because I know that my husband would have been disappointed with me seeing my hair and knowing how much it costed. If I could post a picture of my hair Im sure everyone would tell me that this hair is not worth $390. I have a second appointment this week to get my hair to the way I want, and I was told that this appointment is on the house. Which is a big relieve because then if they are able to do what I had asked in the first place then I would gladly be happy to have paid $390. I expected the hair to cost at least $180-$200 even if they couldnt get it to exactly the way I wanted. However, a hair cut/style for almost $400 should be something that I would be happy about. You could have at least blew out my hair properly and styled it so I could leave your salon looking new. Point is, if you are going to charge someone a $390 hair style make sure it is something that they asked for. I am hoping for an act of redemption from the salon so I can later re-rate and post a happier review.
