Rented from this location about 5 times now. Avis is one of the few places you can rent a car without a credit credit. Not having a major credit card, this is my go to. The same guy has been working each time and is always helpful. Have not had a bad experience any of the 5 times I have used this location.

I had a good experience with this AVIS. I used them recently to rent a midsize SUV for driving a few states west of Michigan. I had the car for over two weeks and had absolutely no issues with the vehicle. Ibrahim was extremely helpful and made checking in and out very easy. I made a reservation prior to through the AVIS website, Id recommend doing the same for convenience sake. Good people, decent rates, cant complain!

I had a wonderful experience at this Avis; they had some of the few rental cars left in town. I was able to pick up a vehicle for the dates I needed it, AND was given an upgrade. Ill be back to rent again when Im visiting home in a few months! The gentleman who rented to me was an absolute Saint, he offered me above and beyond customer service.

We reserved a car ahead of time and it took them 50 minutes to retrieve it and bring it to us from the hotel parking lot. Very very slow service, no one seems to care. Would go with someone more reliable in the future like enterprise.

I have to say the staff at Avis on Plymouth Rd. Is top notch. Our flight was delayed and we didn’t pick our rental until 2am at the airport location. As we were leaving we realized vehicle was, not in the best shape. Thankfully we were staying at Doubletree on Plymouth Rd. I brought my concerns up to Staff, and Monica took care of the issue.In a day and age where quality matters, the staff at Avis really went above and beyond. Thank you Monica and Staff!

I really like the Avis team at the Avis location. He wasnt afraid to give me a car that I thought I wouldnt like (but knew he was giving me a car that gave me really cool features). Kia isnt too bad after all. He is great at communicating and even helped me search my car for my sunglasses (they ended up being at my house).

DON’T DO IT! Go elsewhere. Rented the car for a day well over a month ago. The car smelled AWFUL! I went and bought multiple air fresheners to put in the car it was so bad. Prior to returning the vehicle I fueled it up and the very young person behind the counter said I was all set. A few hours later I see a new charge on my account. This charge was for fuel! After disputing with corporate and producing receipt of fuel purchase, I was refunded my money a week later. While this dispute was pending I began getting toll charges from NJ! Never left the state of Michigan! When looking at the time stamp of the first toll, 7:42am, I picked up the car at 7:30. I must have been driving light-speed to make it from Ann Arbor to NJ to get on that toll road. There were two sets of tolls from NJ, even after the first dispute, they still placed the second charge on my account. After speaking with customer service they stated that their system cannot detect errors in this fashion and it’s the responsibility of the customer to call and dispute. Now, a month later, I was just charged for a toll in NY! Over a month following my rental! Tried to call Avis e-tolls and guess what, they are closed on the weekends so I have to wait until Monday to dispute this. Mind you, the toll says it happened at 7PM the day of my rental in NY and the car was recorded as being returned to the Ann Arbor location at 730PM (which was actually returned around 5PM). Again, light-speed. Save yourself some time and steer clear of this location and Avis in general.

Booked for 4 month & couldn’t fulfill!!!!!! If there was a way to leave no stars I would!!!! We booked a 12 passenger van 4 months ago! We showed up to pick it up and they told us we can’t fulfill your reservation! They didn’t call us or let us know in any way shape or form until we showed up ready to leave for our family vacation! They didn’t offer to help rebook and couldn’t give us any other options for our family of 7! I don’t even understand how you can possibly just screw someone over with a smile on your face and do anything to help! We will NEVER again come here!!! Worst service ever!!!!

Highly recommend renting from Ibrahim here at the Budget-Avis rental car desk. Hes always taken great care of me whenever Ive needed rental cars and I cant thank him enough for all the special care and attention hes provided, as Ive gone through various rental car issues. The car selection on this lot is admittedly slim, compared to a large airport location, but theyve still got a decent selection, especially for an in-town rental shop. Note that the rental car desk is *inside* the hotel.

Booked our rental 3 1/2 months ago. Went to pick up the minivan we reserved and when I got there they said they don’t have one. I also called the day before to see if I could pick it up a day early and they said they didn’t have any cars at that time. When I asked to confirm that they would have my rental at 8am the next day to pick the guy assured me it would be there, and nothing the next day. The worst part is they didn’t even call me to tell me they didn’t have my rental. I drove 40 minutes to pick it up to leave for our vacation and was there with nothing.

I had a 12 noon reservation for a Midsize SUV when I got there Abdul gave me the choice between 2 SUVs unfortunately I didnt have enough funds on my card to cover it, so I told Abdul I need to go load load Ill be right back..10mins when I return Abdul rented my SUV to someone else leaving me with the smallest SUV on the lot..I explained to him upon arrival I Dont Want a Small SUV...Its was 3 Midsize SUVs still on the lot which he Claimed all had issues ABDUL SUCKS

This location opened over an hour late today so there was a lobby full of people waiting for their rentals. Contacting customer service did absolutely no good and they said We have no idea whats going on at that location. They even spoke to the regional manager who also wasnt sure what was going on. Such a disappointing company all around. Very embarrassing business practices. If you are thinking of renting from any Avis, DONT. Try Hertz or Enterprise instead, they are much more professional and trustworthy.

The car was a 2020 Ford Explorer, but was a complete lemon. The employee never checked the car with us. Maintenance light came on right away for oil change, low tire pressure, no windshield fluid. Car was not clean, the kids found cigarettes and chips in the car. The 4WD consistently went out. The charging ports did not work (which we were planning on using to work from the car). The front bummer fell off and we had to duct tape it. And this was all in the beginning of a 4,000 mile trip. We did not have consistent cell phone service and therefore were not able to find a better car. The Avis employee never checked the car when we returned it.

I will never rent from Avis again. Horrible customer service. My car wreaked of cigarette smoke, tire pressure warning light was on the entire time, no windshield fluid, trash in car. The office I called didnt have another car to give me and would not call around to look for another one. I was not given a discount of any kind. This was for my honeymoon! We rented at luxury SUV - we had to save up for months.

Avis office opened late by a 15 yo boy, who did not know anything about the car sales program. The car I reserved to test drive was not in that location. During the process, the boy charged my credit card, then did not know how to cancel the transaction. After I called the central customer rep, he agreed to call his “boss”, who looked like his 25yo brother came in and cancelled it for us. This would be my first time dealing with Avis, but I found the company highly unprofessional. Perhaps they are the next going down after hertz!

I left my garage door opener in the rental car when I returned it. My mistake. I called the rental agency and was told that the garage door opener would be removed from the car and place in the office. When I arrived at the office, my garage door opener was not in the office and the car was no longer at this location. I was told that I would have to drive to the airport to pick up my garage door opener because that is where the car was at that time. I asked the President, Ibrahim Abdinur, to call the airport location to ensure the garage door opener was there. I didnt want to drive all the way there to find out it was not there and nor was the car. He refused to and instead told me I had to call. I finally call from his office, but the phone instructions told me that I had to report all missing items online before calling. Then why did Ibrahim Abdinur tell me to call??? First, they did not retrieve my garage door opener from the car as they promised to do so and then refused to help me find it. That is HORRIBLE customer service.

We reserved a 12 person van in February to pick up on July 1st. We called a few weeks before the pick up to confirm our reservation. We were told that the van would be there. When we went to pick up the van at 11:30 a.m. on July 1st; NO VAN. Did the mother and son team working there care? Absolutely not. They offered us 2 minivans (for the same price) and 1 free tank of gas. We reminded them that we needed a 12 person van for our extended family road trip that we planned 5 months earlier. Not only did the two not care, they did nothing to help. The son said, and I quote “Your best bet is to drive to the Avis at Detroit Metro Airport and fight for the next 12 person van that’s available.”So, that’s what we did. It took 4 hours and a stroke of luck, but the DTW Avis came through. On our way back from picking up the 12 person van, the mom called and left us a voicemail. “The van never came”, CLICK.We contacted Avis Corporate when we returned from our vacation and filed a report on this incident.

Ive rented there over a dozen times during visits home to A2. Great service and the ease of getting the car cant be beat. Weekend hours are a little tough (9-1 Sat and 10-1 Sun), but if you plan accordingly youll be fine.

If I could give a zero star review I would. I recently, booked packaged deal through Priceline for hotel plus car rental & had the worst customer experience with the Avis car rental located at 17330 Palmetto Pines in Houston TX!!! Torina was at the front counter helping me. However, the service I received was completely unacceptable; not only my card charged twice even though I did not even have the car in my possession, she extremely RUDE, her tone and demeanor came off very condescending. I have never experienced such horrible customer service before in my life. I missed a very important meeting because it took almost two hours for me to basically resolve my problem on my own! I’m super disappointed that I spent my money with this company & if I could have cancelled my car reservation without created a bigger problem at the hotel I would have. I will definitely be reaching out to the district & regional manager!

The Avis facility inside the Holiday Inn is a tiny office, with one employee. Although have had to wait some time for the employee to return, that is my only negative thought. The cars are well kept and quickly found and returned. It is my off airport car rental choice.

I second Mike Altheons poor experience. This location is ureliable and they dont care if you have a reservation or not!My wife and I had a reservation for noon on Christmas Eve which was confirmed with an email receipt. The location lists on their website they are open to 6pm.When we got there a few minutes after noon we saw a paper sign taped to the door stating they were closed. Wait what?! Why would you take a noon reservation if you were going to close early?! Also, why wouldnt you call your customer and see if another time would work?! This seems basic.We needed a car that day and called the corporate number on the door in a panic. Eventually we got transferred to someone with a 734 number.Unsympathetically we were told to drive to the airport and figure it out there. When I asked why they didnt call existing reservations for that day to inform them they wanted to close early, I was told that wasnt mandatory. The lady refused to have someone come open the Ann Arbor location. We ended up driving to the airport and paying higher fees there.Who runs a business this way? This franchise is owned by Farah Enterprises. If they own other businesses and run them like this I would steer clear. We paid additional money and spend additional time because this location couldnt honor their existing reservations.The experience was so bad I not only will not use Avis again, Ill actively be telling whoever will listen not to use them as well. We now have a good story for Christmas dinner.

I had no issues throughout my rental with this location but I want to share a cautionary tale -This location charged me a $400 fee for a missing key, when the key was returned with the car during drop-off. There was no explanation or bill, iust a line on my credit card statement that $400 was deducted 2 weeks after I dropped my car off.The issue was quickly resolved once I called Avis through the corporate number and got transferred a couple of times. So I am glad it worked out. However, had I not been reviewing my statement carefully, $400 would have slipped under my nose.I want to reiterate I had no issues during pick-up and drop-off. In fact throughout my rental, Avis as a company was great in getting my rental replaced when it broke down. So I would still recommend Avis, but I would be careful to check your credit card statement well after dropping off your car.

Rented the car for 3 days, drove in excess of 600 miles, filled up the tank upon returning and was still charged $15.99 plus assorted charges. Totally bogus. This is probably the 5th or 6th time this is happening to me with Avis. EVERY TIME I have to watch out for being ripped off.

Found the male (long dark beard) rep to be dismissive and lazy. My reservation was canceled and he said he couldn’t rebook me. When I asked if he could call customer service, he said no because they couldnt help. I was then told to pick up a new car from the airport instead. After I left, the Avis customer service rep said he should’ve called for help because they could’ve fixed the issue.

We rented a car from Avis at the Detroit airport. Service was slow - it took over an hour to get to the counter - and then the car we were given was filthy. Food crumbs and residue, dirt (didnt even want to put my sweatshirt on the back seat), sticky substance on the gear shift, etc. I asked if a different car was available and was told to just note on the rental agreement that the car was dirty (so no). Called customer service and was told we could exchange the car at a different Avis location - but there is not another open one anywhere near where we are staying.
