Northern Nomads is definitely the way to go when exploring all that Alaska has to offer! Clinton was super helpful during the booking and check-in process. He even gave us local tips on some of the best things to see and do. The van itself, Big Tuna, was beautifully retrofitted, clean & had everything you would need for the perfect campervan trip! We are only bummed that we have to go back to reality but nothing about Northern Nomads bummed us out at all. We will see you again, Alaska! 🚐 🏔

When I was looking for a vehicle for our road-trip there was not a lot of availability for rentals. I kept going back to their website looking at their vans and trying to figure out how I could make their Cargo Connect work for us (it is empty, but includes two chairs and a cooler). For the cost to have it fully insured it was worth trying to make it work. We purchased a full size air mattress, sleeping bags, and 2 pillows when we arrived in anchorage and it worked perfectly!! I wouldn’t have traded our vehicle for anything else. We had an amazing time running around the interior of Alaska seeing all the top spots and camping on the side of the road in some really cool pull out places. I would recommend this company to anyone, everything was so smooth from renting to the return of the vehicle!

Our Northern Nomads rental was perfect for our Alaska adventure! Vehicle was spotless and had everything we needed to camp our way through Alaska. At several campsites had folk coming over to check out and comment on the rig too. Clinton shared a few extra points of interest to hit and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend using Northern Nomads. We will definitely use them again next time we are in Alaska.

My wife and I rented one of the Pro City vans in June of 2021 and it was a fantastic experience. We would absolutely recommend Northern Nomads. Nice outfit with a very friendly owner and highly convenient pickup and drop off policy. The van was clean, comfortable, easy to drive, and has excellent gas mileage. The ability to rent bear spray was a big plus as well, since you cant bring that on an airplane.

Incredible service and product, so glad we went with Northern Nomad for our trip exploring EVERYTHING north of Anchorage. Hit so many destinations in our Tricked out Transit, and there was no shortage of killer campsites we quickly made a home out of. Clinton had lots of great recommendations and seemed like he genuinely wanted us to have a good time, and was delighted when he found out we did upon return. Would recommend this service 10/10, and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again on our next trip.

My wife and I explored Alaska in Big Tuna as newlyweds on our honeymoon and couldnt have been happier with the experience. It was the perfect home on wheels and allowed to be very flexible with our itinerary knowing that we could simply park and camp for the night at a trail head or just off the main road. We ended up exploring Talkeetna, Whittier, Cooper Landing, Seward, Clam Gulch and Homer. Our trip was towards the end of August from 8/24 - 9/1 so while we did encounter some rain most of the days, we always felt cozy and dry in the Big Tuna.We really enjoyed the experience and working with Clinton from the initial reservation process to the pick up and drop off. It was all very easy and all of our interactions were very enjoyable. We would highly recommend renting a van from Clinton at Northern Nomads if you want a truly unique Alaska experience! I rented the Salty Dog for two weeks this May, and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. I felt great that this is a local small business owned by two young people who built these vans themselves! Clinton was so kind and helpful, and we got to travel 1,500 miles (!!), including as far north as Denali and as far south as Homer. I would give anything to wake up to some of these views again. I’ve already recommended this business to friends who followed along with my trip on social media and want to do something similar. Cost effective (less than a car rental + hotel rooms) even for the larger vans, with discounts for renting for the week. And we barely paid for anything besides groceries to cook in the van each day! Thank you for an unforgettable trip!

My girlfriend and I rented the Tacoma with rooftop tent for three weeks in June. Clinton has been most helpful and accommodating from the first contact through e-mail last winter and also throughout the whole booking process. Even when we noticed a problem with rental car insurance prior to our trip he was always quick to reply and solve the issue. It was a pleasure to meet him when we picked up the truck. He took time to give us many useful tips on where to go, what the roads are going to be like and also showed everything in and around the truck, the rooftop tent and so on. Plus, he threw in some really useful accessories you reserve in advance such as bear spray. The truck itself was equipped with everything we would have ever needed and we slept like babies in the super-comfortable rooftop tent. We can absolutely recommend Northern Nomads without hesitating and would only rent from him if we come again!

Had an amazing trip in Alaska with Northern Nomads. The van was awesome - had all the amenities (cutlery, cooking items, cooler, stove, bedding, etc). They even had a candle, which my wife liked. They had maps and suggestions on where to go, they rented bear spray, and they were so nice and easy to work with. Had a great time driving around Alaska, and have our trip so much more flexibility than moving from hotel to hotel. Would definitely do it again!

From my initial inquiry to the day of drop off Clinton made the entire rental process easy and friendly. We rented Big Tuna and immediately fell in love with life in a van. The van is set up perfectly! Its got everything we needed to be comfy, its easy to drive and park and pretty easy on gas. Its the perfect way to see Alaska.

We are a retired couple enjoying traveling the world on a budget. We rented the white Ram City Master van for our adventure to Denali, Fairbanks and Wrangell-St Elias.Our van was clean and comfortable and stocked with enough supplies. The bedding was comfortable and the van is very well setup for two people. Communication and reservation, van check out and check in was painless.Our hosts picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at our hotel. I really appreciated that the van ran great, lots of power and didn’t squeak and rattle as we navigated the sometimes bumpy Alaska roads.We look forward to renting again on our next great Alaska adventure.

So glad we used Northern Nomads for our girls camping getaway! We took their rig up to Soldotna. Great gas mileage and the vehicle handled the roads perfectly. When we eventually called it a night, I slept like a baby! and being from out of state, it was nice not to have to bring all my camping gear. My wife and I had the pleasure of renting out Big Tuna from Clinton at Northern Nomads. We rented the van for a week and were able to drive to Denali and Seward from Anchorage. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken, in no small part due to the professionalism and friendliness of Clinton. He was able to pick us up from our hotel and also give us a ride back after we returned the van.The only negative about this trip was that it had to end. The van we rented was equipped with everything we could’ve needed and more. The van itself got great gas mileage on our trip and was so easy to drive, despite what you may think for a bigger van. The ride was smooth and we had zero mechanical or maintenance issues.The sound system powered by an auxiliary battery was perfect while we were camped out and the additional USB outlets made sure we had our devices charged up. The bed and blankets provided kept us more than comfortable and warm enough, even through some pretty cold weather in Denali.I can’t recommend Northern Nomads enough. If you are looking to explore Alaska this is the ONLY way to do it.

I did a 2-week Alaskan road trip with a friend and this was THE PERFECT way for us to travel! We loved knowing that we always had a place we could sleep at night, even though we hadnt exactly planned out our route.Being a small camper van allowed us to be so much more maneuverable than a bigger rig. (‘Not to mention, the way fewer fuel costs!) The unit was all dialed in with slide out gas stove w/ kitchen storage, cooler and water jug, handy magnetized curtains, and an oh-so-comfy padded platform bed that slept two friends just great. We actually had better nights sleep in the van then we did in our rented rooms! If youre looking for a versatile, functional, and clean little camper van - you found it.

I had an incredible time in Alaska. This was the best trip I have ever been on. Clinton is one of the most friendly people I have met. He made the entire process so simple. This was especially nice since I was travelling from Ontario so I had no idea what to expect when I arrived. Clinton provided me with an alternative way of renting through Turo since I am only 23 and not covered by his insurance. He also picked us up at the airport and dropped us back off after the trip. I personally rented the Promaster which is fuel efficient and the perfect way for two people to travel Alaska. I will definitely return to Alaska at some point in the future and you can bet I will be renting a van from Northern Nomads. Thank you, Clinton.

Northern Nomads provides! With a week to kill in AK, the Promaster was excellent. Visiting Seward, Hope and Denali from Anchorage we averaged 26mpg. The van is well kitted out with the essentials and attention to detail. Bed is soft, sound/heat insulation is good, awning is easy, kitchen is equipped. Clinton and his wife Kelsey were a pleasure from start to finish, including the van suffering a cracked windshield on our watch.

This was the perfect way to explore the vast wildlife and nature Alaska has to offer. Clinton and his wife are running this all by themselves and communications with them was good! They organized a pick up and drop off from anywhere in Anchorage which was great as we had our large backpacking bags.We took the truck with the tepui tent on top and it was awesome - the set up is fairly fast and the truck has enough space to accomodate 4 people easily. We were only two so the tent was a great size especially as it was still fairly cold.The extra sleeping bags that they provided came in handy and they provided all the cooking utensils and camping chairs.I’d highly recommend this for anyone who wants to explore Alaska (especially Denali National park) with the freedom to go anywhere and experiencing the nature and wildlife here!

We were looking for a small camper van to spend two weeks exploring Alaska and found Northern Nomads online. The website posted pictures of exactly what we had in mind, and the perfect 5.0 review score told us to look no further. Fear of the unknown instantly went away when we showed up in the yard and Brooklynn showed us the van we had picked (Promaster City) and went through all the features. We are car-camping tenters, and this van provided us with everything (kitchen utensils, scrubbies, dishwashing soap, bedding, cooler, water jug, even the VERY helpful Milepost tour guide) that we obviously couldnt bring with us on the plane. We didnt get to meet Clinton until we brought the van back (from Denali, Fairbanks, Tok, Valdez, ferry to Whittier, and the Kenai), and then we met his parents first, who should be given some of the credit for the amazing job Clinton has done with the campers. His mother stitched all the window shades with the sewn-in magnets, and Im sure a lot more. Clinton was very friendly and engaging, and graciously accepted our only criticism: That the cooler did not have a drain plug, a minor detail that did not even budge the needle down from a perfect 5.0. Anyone looking for a solution to not being able to bring their tent to Alaska need look no further for the ultimate car camping experience.

He provided pick up from our hotel and dropped us off at the airport. He was very friendly, engaging, and gave some pointers for our trip as well.The campervan was in great shape, clean and well equipped. It drove much better than I expected and wasnt too bad on gas. It was perfect for my girlfriend and I for the 10 days we had it. The van was spacious, kitchen well equipped, and the bed was comfortable. Im 61 and there was plenty of room in the the van to walk around with out having to bend over, and I even fit on the bed just fine. For the 2 of us this was a much better option to renting a huge gas sucking, difficult to drive RV. Kept us warm and out of the elements when needed but also provided that feeling of camping while relaxing with the sliding door open or lounging in the provided camp chairs.I highly recommend Northern Nomads if you are looking for great service and a great campervan or vehicle. We will definitely rent with them again on our next trip.
