The apartments are nice, and I enjoy having my own bathroom.
I was charged 600 dollars when moving out. The apartment is old. They charge me every stain or damage that the previous tenants made. If you do some search, you will find that they are notorious for charging tenants. The management is also chaotic. If you have issues and turn to them, they only tell you they need to discuss it with their manager, who never shows up.For new residents, be sure to take a photo of everything for the record. Be brave to defend your legal interest.
Was hopeful in the beginning then honestly everything was downhill. Moved into a completely filthy unit, yet at move out was charged for everything. Even sent multiple emails before my inspection, and was still charged upward of $300. Do not recommend living here if you want a clean unit and do not want charged for previous tenant damage.
Renter beware! They over charge every one upon move out. We had a bill of over $800 which they decreased to $400. Each roommate was charged $225 to replace the carpet. Copper Beach seems to know how to make money on college kids to benefit themselves and who knows if they ever replace all the items they charged us for. They probably charge the same to everyone - drip pans, blinds, ottoman, door, carpet, paint, cleaning, appliance cleaning, bathroom cleaning, common area cleaning, etc. Only rent here if you have an extra months rent to give them at the end of your lease!
I love this property! The staff are always nice and willing to help as much as they can. The amenities are great and the rate is an awesome value for what you get!
Love how spacious the units are and this place offers so many amenities! It is great for what Im looking for - plus they allow dogs. Would recommend living here to anyone.
Great community Assistants and a wonderful clubhouse!Highly recommend living here if you are a student at Iowa State. You wont find anything better for the price!
I thought this facility of apartment complexes was extremely modern, and eye-catching. I recently visited my brother who is a resident, and was extremely impressed!
Can I just say wow! Im very impressed with everything overall! The staff were tremendous and helped men out so much!
Lived at Copper Beech back during my undergrad, great vibes, clean property, pool parties were always lit and management was always great. Decent size living spaces as well as super close to Jack Trice! 10/10 rating.
I highly recommend living at Copper Beech! The units are so spacious and such a great price! They are also very well kept. They offer great amenities as well. It is such a great community to live in!
Love how spacious the units are & the amenities are great! staff is also super nice to my dog so that’s cool :)
If I could give a zero I would. I originally subleased from tenants that left the place DISGUSTING. There were missing chairs, dirt, and mold everywhere. I doubt they even did a check to the state in which the tenants left the place. Now I’m being charged an entire repainting fee on my bedroom and bathroom when the walls were exactly the way I moved in. Not to mention being charged crazy cleaning fees and damage to furniture. Expect them to do this the same to you if you decide to lease with them.As a subleaser, the tenant paid the Sublet LTO fee, and now I am being charged an additional $400 for something I did not agree to and makes no sense. I moved in and lived in for the exact amount of days as my lease. This bill does not reflect anything but the greed and lack of respect Copper Beech has for its residents.
Very bootiful place. Love it lots. Oh so nice. Great place for my friends
Loved my time living here. The management was great to me, their maintenance staff was amazing especially the guy who did the snow plowing, and they always answered the phone when ever I had an issue. 10/10 would live there again If I was still in college.
Living at Cooper Beech for three years was a great decision. Cooper Beech has its own little community with tons of fun things to do! I had only two issues while living but the office was quick to repair and address both times! I highly recommend this place!
Great amenities and the staff are always willing to help! Ive always had great communication with them and really enjoy the property.
This is an amazing place for students to live while in college! The management team is amazing and is quick to help you with any concerns you may have! They truly make it feel like your home away from home. Lots of amazing things to do in the area is also a huge plus!!
I lived here four years during veterinary school. I was as close to the school as I could have been without living in either of the trailer parks as most vet students did. I appreciated the amenities like the gym, pool, free printing etc. Additionally, I and my two roommates had pets and the CB office didn’t blink at the size/number of pets as long as we registered them with the office. Maintenance requests were swiftly handled and the office staff were always pleasant. Copper Beech was recommended to me by a friend when I was looking into moving to Ames & I’m thankful for it because I spent all four years there!
I met a person affiliated with this company and they were genuinely interested in getting to know me and helping me.
My daughter lives here and it’s such a great, spacious apartment for a college student.
Expect bad attitudes from all staff and no resolve to any of your issues! Itll be a great year at Copper Beech.
Such a great place. The type of location that makes you want your friends to take you out for FroYo!
I met with the staff recently and theyre very professional and helpful. The managerial staff was exceptional with customer first service!
They were completely unflexible with move in date. Even out of town people had 1 day to move the kid in and we were only allowed 1 day before classes started. The worst. If you call, they dont care. Now if you have a child staying over the summer, beware the lease ends and they are without housing for 3 weeks. Electric bill was also crazy high.. If you have an option PASS.
Saw this property when visiting friends and it was like resort living. Staff encounters were helpful and courteous. With what I saw, Id recommend this community to family and friends.
The staff was super knowledgeable about the town and the property. Loved the proximity to campus.
I loved living at Copperbeech! The townhomes are so spacious and the amenities are wonderful too. My experience was so great I renewed to live there again. If you are looking for affordable, spacious, and private living in Ames I definitely recommend checking Copperbeech out!
Copper beech is a great apartment complex to live at! Their apartments are the best value for the price and the staff is super friendly! I would reccomend any college student at isu looking for housing to sign a lease here.
Always clean outside! Beautiful grass!
When I stayed here, the property was very clean and well maintained. I loved how the townhome was organized.
Lived there for 4 years. Loved the amount of space! Staff was awesome to work with!
The staff is phenomenal, and the property looked great on my visit. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!
Good place to live, good service, clean, good layout, easy to work with. Like the amenities and all of the events that are held at the club house for residents to enjoy
Loved living here! Let us live in Ames without having to live in cramped apartments on campus!
The maintenance is always so quick. The grounds are kept up well. The staff members are all so friendly and eager to help whenever you need them! Overall, a great place to live!
Friendly and caring staff. Really put great effort in their customer service and understanding my needs.
Great. sometimes loud. loud floors and loud neighbors. upstairs is very hot and downstairs is very cold. other than that it is great. love the community building
The staff is always nice and helpful and Steve the maintenance worker is always very friendly! I love how spacious the kitchen is and how the townhomes are fully furnished!
They have very nice apartments. Roomy bedrooms.
Francesca was great in assisting me with information at Copper Beech. Amazing location, close to the stadium and bus routes.
Lived here for three years while in college at ISU. Great place to live, very spacious, and good internet and cable packages included. Quality place to live and not far from campus with bus routes available too!
Always looking for friendly people that really care about your needs & I found it here ... great Job !
Visited Cooper Beech! The property was well maintained and looked like a great place to live!
Loved my time living here! Miss Ames and CB all the time!
DO NOT LIVE HERE! This place may seem great from the description and the show house you see when you tour the place, but it’s not! When you move in they most likely have not checked over the apartment so it will be dirty, mine was a complete disaster when I moved in. Everything breaks all the time and the maintenance does a very poor job of fixing it or does not even fix it. We went 2 weeks without a working washer and dryer with 4 people living in the unit! It is way too expensive for what you get out of it. I definitely do not recommend living here.
3/16/2021 It took a little time and I think we definitely got a dud unit, but Copper Beach has really turned it around. The staff here have made all the difference. As long as you stay level headed and persistent on issues, they can meet you halfway.1/4/2021 Update!! The dryer was replaced, but that revealed a ventilation problem that hasnt been fixed. This morning my roommate and I woke up to the lovely sounds of a fire alarm chipping because a roof leak started pouring into our vents and through the fire alarm. They tore our the alarm and promised to have someone here by 9 to fix the issue... well see!Im not typically someone who writes reviews, but we have had so many issues with our apartment and Copper Beech does very little to help. We are a month in and still dont have a working dryer or ANY accommodations for this issue! 9/19 Update: they are reimbursing our laundry mat trips!!We also went 3 weeks without air conditioning, screens on our windows, a major pest control issue, and power outages. With the Derecho, I completely understand the power outage situation, but there was little-to-no communication about these issues and the power didnt go out until they started messing with the central air system. They seem to hide behind third parties to make up for the fact that they cant take care of maintenance issues themselves. My roommate and I have consistently called and gone to the office to ask about these issues. Pretty unhappy with the speed of fixing maintenance issues. Be very careful when renting from here. Read the contract thoroughly and try to understand your rights as a renter.... especially the maintenance section and what they are responsible for!
This apartment complex is worth every penny. Fully furnished unit, most square footage of all student housing options in Ames, free printing, free gym and tanning, a pool, and the clubhouse always has free food for the residents! The staff is always friendly and able to meet your needs, especially while dealing with COVID-19 this spring.Highly recommend to any Iowa State student searching for housing.
Love the amenities, clubhouse has great vibe, and staff are very helpful and friendly!
Copper beech takes care of the residents very well! Good living area and great amenities for the price.
Worst apartment ever. When you plan to move in they will pretend they are nice for move in and out. However, when you moved out, they will try wipe everything on the check out list and charge you more. Most of the time, they will NOT return your deposit and CHARGE you more! Never live in this place, this is disaster!!!! If you saw this comment, please do not choose this place for living, Quarters is just a few foot away from here and that may be a better choice.
I love all the events that copper beech has! Even with Covid they’ve found a way to get the community together! So far my favorites have been the ones with the free food :)
Cant say enough good things about Copper Beech. Location is great and the property is very well maintained.
Great service.very friendly staff and meeting all my needs.
Staff was extremely helpful and met my needs as a new resident
Washer/Dryer/Wifi all fixed 👍 and pool is opening soon!!!!!
Great experience, great staff
A friendly staff and that goes out of there way to help you. Outstanding!!
Overall the house it’s self is very spacious and looks pretty nice. However the chairs were awful, we broke three chairs just by sitting down. Management is very nice but terrible at running things. Anything that broke was broken for weeks. We didn’t have a washer or dryer for two weeks and broken chairs in our living room for weeks. We also weren’t given a heads up when they were entering our unit. I had a man walk into my bedroom when I was sleeping!!! The amenities are nice and there are plenty of parking spots for the people that live there but overall I was not happy with management. After moving out we were charged for many things that were there when we moved in. My room had some colored spots on the carpet when I moved in (and yes I wrote it down on the move in sheet) but I was still charged for it when I moved out.
Great staff and fun housing!
Staff was great. Very friendly!
These apartments are super spacious, and it is great that there are 4.5 bathrooms in the 4 person units. But much like other people, I have had my fair share of problems living here. Before the negatives here are the positives:-Clubhouse offers free printing (I used this often!), a pool, and a gym-Large living room and kitchen (plenty of counter space + storage)-Comes furnished (some problems with furniture, mentioned below)-Plenty of resident parking (despite having 4 rows their guest parking is not enough considering how many people live in each unit)Now the negatives:I understand that they are transitioning their furniture; however, that is not an excuse to leave residents without necessities, like kitchen chairs. One of my roommates (who had signed a lease for the year before I moved into the unit) had been promised new furniture, and we were still waiting on kitchen chairs and barstools when I moved out.Management also mentioned they are replacing the flooring in the kitchens, as they should! Upon my roommate’s move in, the kitchen tile was bubbling up and was a tripping hazard as it was right where the living room meets the kitchen. Rather than removing the cheap peel and stick vinyl flooring and replacing it with new stuff, they decided to place ANOTHER layer of vinyl tiles over it! No surprise that the new layer started bubbling and peeling up.As mentioned by someone else, electricity can get expensive in the winter because of the electric-only heating. I also think that the house is not well insulated because living in the basement bedrooms becomes nearly unbearable in the winter, even with the heat on.Also, as a side note, I did not receive my signing bonus. Two of my roommates signed their leases a couple of months before the August move-in. On the other hand, I signed my lease before them in November, and because I was referred in by a friend, both my friend and I were supposed to receive gift cards. When move-in came, and all my roommates got their gift cards, I emailed about mine. It turns out they had no record of there being a promotion in November, even though the girl who referred me and I signed a sheet about an incentive offer. Perhaps the person working the desk when I signed incorrectly told me about the offer, promising a gift card as an incentive to sign when they did not offer one. Not only not following through with handing out the gift card but also claiming there was no promotion in the first place is wrong. Copper beech is ALWAYS offering incentives (no signing fees, gift cards, etc.). I tried to communicate to them that there was an incentive when I signed, but after a few emails back and forth, I was not getting anywhere. As a final note shame on you copper beech for charging us on move out. Our one roommate who lived here the year prior to me moving in saw literal animal feces and stains on the carpet when she walked in, and it took her family speaking to you guys for the issue to be resolved. How can you let someone move into a unit that has not been cleaned? I understand that when I moved in the following year, I signed a form saying I was okay with the unit “as-is” however, that should not mean that the stains and damages that were not corrected the year prior should fall upon my roommates and me to fix. Everyone in my unit can vouch that the place was significantly cleaner than when we moved in. We professionally cleaned the carpets, filled, and painted (with the matching paint) every hole/mark on the wall (even those left unfixed from before we moved in), deep cleaned the oven, microwave, etc. I know that my room was cleaner than when I moved in, yet I was still charged a cleaning fee upon move out. What for? The carpets were cleaned, bathroom was scrubbed from top to bottom, I even wiped down the inside of every drawer. I truly am confused about what (if anything) I could have done to avoid this charge.I generally enjoyed living here but I am so relieved to be done with them!!!
Very friendly staff that assisted with anything!
Lived here for 3 years and have to say there are some things that were good and some that could improve about this apartment complex. The landscaping is not kept up. There was a time where the grass was 3 feet tall. Also people let their dogs poop everywhere. To the point where that’s all you can smell and since they don’t landscape it never gets picked up. Every time the terrible furniture would break they gave us a different style of furniture. We ended up having three different bar stools. However, maintenance is prompt and fixes problems. It also can be dangerous to drive in their parking lots. People don’t look before they turn and I’ve had many near accidents because of it. The apartment itself is spacious and good for roommate style living. Would recommend if you don’t care about quality and have roommates.
Copper Beech is a great complex, and I really enjoyed touring. The staff was great, especially Jenna. Jenna answered all my questions very thoroughly and made me feel at home!
Copper Beech has been pretty great so far. Every place has their downfalls and things they need to work on, but so far I have enjoyed living here. Love all of the amenities offered to us residents and the frequent activities the clubhouse provides us residents with.
Decent place to live.
Best leasing agents in the business! Jenna and Haley(leasing agents) have gone above and beyond what their job calls them to do. Not only did they give me the best tour possible, but they’ve made me realize everything the property has to offer!
You guys have done a fantastic job getting me the most information that I needed in order to want to sign to Copper Beech. The amount of tours that you gave my friends and I were very helpful!
There are a plethora of places in Ames. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. I have lived here for more than one lease but regret it and here is why:Poor management: the people at the front desk are friendly but if you have to go to management for anything other than picking up a package you won’t get anywhere. I called management with a lease question multiple times and did not hear back for WEEKS. They are not accommodating or flexible in any sense of the word.Poor structure: the buildings in general are cheap and the walls are thinnnnn. I can hear every word of any conversation that happens in the street. You can also hear your neighbors even if they are playing music quietly. Also the walls scrape up quite easily. For example my chair rests up against the wall. Just touching the wall with any amount of pressure leaves a mark. I have heard from multiple people they will charge you high amounts of money for this when you move out.Don’t actually Roomate match: if you are signing by yourself, hoping to save some money and think they will actually care about who to put in your unit, think again. Based on my matches so far (quiet vs loud, age, etc), the management doesn’t even look at the Roomate matching survey.High electric bill: one of the points that drew me into this apartment was the electric bill allowance. You get $25 per person free and then have to pay the difference. I was told when I moved in that usually people don’t have to pay anything. This is a complete lie. In the winter months we paid over $100 PER PERSON. When we inquired why and what the breakdown was, they could provide no details.WiFi is poor: the WiFi has gotten better in the past year but does go out once every month or so. Copper beech does not care about problems with this or the cable. You have to call the provider yourself.Maintenance : usually this is pretty good though sometimes we had to wait for weeks and request multiple times to get a window fixed. Also the door key is electronic and seems to stop working at the most inconvenient times (like at 2am when the front desk is not open)In general copper beech is quite good at looking appealing. They will likely respond to this review saying they are sorry with my dissatisfaction. This is because they care more about getting people to sign leases than making sure those that already have are happy. Don’t come here
Great place great people !
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Units have lots more room than most other apartments. The property is well kept and clean. I am very likely to renew my lease for the next year.
WiFi is terrible and goes out multiple times a month with no help from anyone on answers about it. Maintenance requests never fully get fixed and only cause problems to go on longer than needed. Promises of new furniture in all units were made and 8 months later nothing new in sight while we still use chairs that are about to fall apart.
Below 1 star. These people are CRIMINALS. I ve lived here for over 3 years and I need a lease takeover because i could not afford two rents. I had a lease takeover read and all the paperwork done AND THEN THEY INFORM ME THAT THERE WILL BE A 500 FEE to transfer. i said no thanks but then the subleases couldnt get out of out their lease due to a miscommunication on THEIR PART. we had two different stories from two different people on their staff. THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS and will lie to you and gloss over details just to get you to sign a lease.
Convenient location, great space and furnishings are a plus. Lots of parking available, limited visitor parking in the front without parking pass needed.
DO NOT LIVE HERE, if you want to spend over 1600 dollars on move out finnal account statement. They charged me lots of meaningless expenses. The manager insist on the nightstand was burned from placing hot pot, But it was only my flower pot. They didnt even check it carefully, and place charge on my account.
I think the strengths outweigh the weaknesses here, a lot of what the other reviews have said have merit but Ill list my pros and cons here putting the place in perspective with other options students may considerPros:+ A lot of square footage for the 4 person unit, never feels crowded in the slightest+ Lots of counter space for cooking etc+ Lots of privacy and bathrooms+ Close by parking and guest parking+ Onsite gym+ Maintenance is generally pretty quick to act on requests you put inCons:- The heating system/insulation is very sub par. It gets very cold in the winter on floors besides the main floor.- Maintenance for some requests is poorly handled (furniture stays broken)- Poor quality furniture (couch, armchair, ottoman, kitchen table+chairs)In general, the bang for your buck is insane here, you can make it feel like a real home. Plenty of room for friends and privacy and parking.
The area is nice typically quiet with the exception of some road noise from 30. Over all I have enjoyed my experience here.
Cheap construction, but the staff has been good. Our washer broke and it was fixed the next day. We have to spend extra on electricity in the winter due to electric-only heating, and thats annoying. One of the air registers is not completely attached to the floor, as the plywood was cut three inches to short, so theres a small hole in the floor. The counter-top isnt supported at one corner, and sinks half-an-inch lower than surrounding. Earlier in the year, they kept messing up the billing, but the new management seems to have it together. Several of the cable channels are fuzzy. Generally good neighbors.Begin edit: After a year of living here, my (electronic) front door key stopped working. I had gone into the office as instructed several days beforehand to renew/reset the key. You can imagine my frustration when I arrived home after the office closed and was locked out of my apartment. It took several more visits to the office to fix this. And theres a management response posted beneath my review. Neat trick, but maybe just do things right the first (or second or third) time and have at least passably trained staff at the front desk, and you wouldnt be relying on google reviews for your customer service.
Do NOT live here. Management sucks, they are terrible at communicating, are inconsiderate of the residents needs and all they’re looking to do is take as much money from you as possible. In return you get a cheap apartment with cheap furniture and a horrible customer service experience. They don’t take action in fixing their own mistakes and instead make excuses and do very little (if at all) to make up for it. I highly recommend living elsewhere at all costs.
I have lived here for 3 years. I think the location is great and there is a CyRide stop right outside the property. It is great that each roommate has their own bathroom. I love that each unit comes with a washer/dryer.
This place doesnt care about anything but your money. First you have to pay a signing fee that is a ridiculous amount of money, close to $300. You will not get back this signing fee. Then we lived there for a year and they asked if we wanted to renew our lease and they told us THE RENT WAS GOING TO GO UP BY $20/MONTH. We were already paying $550 to live 3 miles from campus. Just when we thought we were done with the stupidity, we moved out. And I was charged $310. Charged $80 to get a new chair that was broken before I moved in. Charged $125 to paint my room that had scuffs and dents when I moved in. Then the real kicker is being charged to clean the kitchen, when I still had 3 other roommates living there until the end of the month.I would not recommend anyone to live here. The staff is very rude most of the time and everything is really poor quality. Needless to say, I could not be more happy to be out of this place.
It looks great at first glance, they are cheaper, fully furnished, with appliances and everything. The problem is management. To get in touch with the emergency number, you have to call 100+ times. My housemate called for 4 hours once with no answer, and when they finally do, they are sanctimonious in a bad way. Their needs come first. Any slight wear and tear that happens normally in a living environment you get charged for. The window frames have no insulation; so you can try to kick up the heat but itll leak out the windows and theyll let cold air in. If you lock yourself out of your room after 8 oclock at night? Sucks to suck, you wont get help until 8 in the morning unless youre willing to deal with a complaining employee and a $50 fee; thats IF their master key works. People throw parties until 4 in the morning. There is a list people. Point is; find another living space. ANY OTHER SPACE.
Great apartments! Clubhouse has fun events and a nice gym. I love living here! Maintenance could be a bit slow though.
Beware of this place, they prey on college students. They promise you one thing and pressure you to sign a lease and never deliver and then you are on the hook. Do not rent at this place! Go anywhere else! They tie you to a lease and then when they do not provide you with an apartment they make you pay anyway or try to make you do their work for them and get you to sublet an apartment you never set foot in. Be prepared to pay out a lot of cash or have a lawyer on retainer. They do not even deserve 1 star.
Love living in my 3 story castle apartment! Lots of privacy where all the rooms are not on the same floor. My deck view has lots of trees so that adds privacy too! My main complain is that the pool is not 24/7 so no night swimming sadly. Rent is cheap compared to living in a city. Some living room chairs are commonly broken but they are good at getting things fix and replaced with nicer models. They also updated the living room kitchen flooring. I like living here for the furnished living, pet friendly, and unit is clean with no small nooks for my cat to hide in!
Im going on my second year of living at Copper Beech and its pretty nice! The management always have dog biscuits with them for my pup whenever I come in and treat me with respect when I come in to ask questions! Sometimes the maintenance isnt the best (in my first apartment, we had two cases in which we sent over a work order and they were marked completed but nothing was actually fixed) but Ive also had them come in and do some solid repairs, too! The furniture is pretty cheap, but when youre renting out to college students who have a tendency to leave chairs on the back deck anyways, its not surprising that they wouldnt invest a lot of money in them. The townhouses are incredibly spacious and Im sad the price got bumped up on the lease, but its still a decent deal given how large the apartments are and the amenities are pretty decent (pool, gym, tanning). Community events are nice, too! Just make sure you get there before the swarm of residents on pizza night.
Horrible, horrible management and overall property quality. Everythings cheaply built, and falling apart. Extremely over priced for what quality of living. They advertised a sign on bonus to both parties, if you recommend a friend. They promised $400, but they only gave us half and never gave it to the other party. Avoid this place, theres way better places to live at in ames.
Quality grass!
The apartment wasnt clean when I first moved in. There was black mold by the door and dirty spots on the walls and carpets. When I requested something to be done about the mold they said Do you want me to paint over it?. Whenever I requested an appliance to be fixed, they would do a temporary fix. Then a few weeks later it would break down again. When it would rain water would seep into my apartment and cause water damage. In the fall and the spring Ive had an ant problem where I would find them everywhere (Im a very clean person). Overall, I would not recommend this apartment complex.
My daughter rented here for her Junior year at ISU. She was so looking forward to the townhouse concept with more privacy and a lot of room. Without forewarning or consent she was assigned an apartment in the new clubhouse with a small bedroom in a one floor apartment. Same cost as the townhouse 3 floor apartments. Need to see if they will negotiate the rent yet. shes not happy.
Houses are cheaply built, walls in my bathroom are not even parallel with each other, moved in for less than a year, we already had two pipes leaking, plus two faucets not working properly. The water heater in my 4-bedroom apartments is barely big enough for two people showering at the same time, had so many cold showers. A friend of mine also lives in Copper Beech, she had a water leak in the kitchen and they screwed up trying to fix it, everything under the sink got flooded.
Copper beech is a great place to live for any college student. You get a ton of space for a really good price and the management is super friendly!
Terrible internet, especially the night before the holiday🙃🙃🙃.There’s few times that my package has been delivered and I didn’t receive any message from the office within days. I came to office to find my package and they just told me their system didn’t have any record which means they didn’t have my package. Some people even not willing to help me to find it🙃🙃🙃 Facts proved that my packages are always there. So “kind” and “hardworking”. Thank you so much to give me so much special memories before I leave Ames. But there do have some people are kindly and maintenances are fast
If you go on a tour here, it looks like a great place to live. When I got there on move in day, they gave my room assignment to my other roommate because her room had flooded and there was MOLD all over the walls, so I couldnt live there until they got it fixed. Well, after a month of living with my boyfriend, I decided to end the lease, and the entire semester went by without it being fixed (still in contact with supposed-to-be roommates). Now, in January, there is BLACK MOLD on the walls and they charged them with extra utility bills because of the fans the workers were using to dry up the water.Aside from the flood situation; closet rods break, dresser drawers break, cable doesnt work in all the rooms, REALLY SLOW internet, sink leaks, floors uneven. One person moved in and the carpet wasnt even laid in their room. You are promised free tanning but they are always under repair. Staff is unprofessional and a lot of people dont get a room key or a mail key until 2 months in because they lose them. Also, if you have a guest that wants to drive over and stay for a bit during the day, they have to go to the front desk (which is across the street at the Grove), and fill out a parking pass, which they then have to park in the guest lot. Then, they have to walk to whichever building you live at, and there are about 6 rows of buildings. If they dont do this, there car will be TOWED from your apartment. The Grove is exactly like this, as Copper Beach is owned by the The Grove. DO NOT LIVE HERE. You will regret it.
Not the worst apartment complex Ive ever seen, but pretty close. The management is incompetent at best and hard to work with. The quality of building materials is quite low, especially considering the price of rent. Look somewhere else, and stay away unless youre a fan of moldy basements and buckling floors
Buildings are nice, not terribly expensive if you dont include the horrific management and the unorderely staff that you must deal with. Needs much improvement. Whenever I try and reach the office I am hung up on constantly. There will be days I try calling all day and they will either hang up or just not answer.
Signed the lease thinking I was getting to live in a townhome. On move in day, I found out I was actually assigned to the apartment units above the “clubhouse.” The unit was brand new but not finished very well. There was even an unfinished hole under the cupboards that my cat could climb into. The furniture (especially the living room furniture) is junky. Half the time the washing machine won’t spin your clothes and they end up sopping wet when you take them out. My roommate and I have each spent 40 to 50 dollars additional every month for electricity this winter (on top of the amount that is included with rent). This is due to having electric heat and poor insulation. The walls are extremely thin and you can hear the door shut in the hall. I can often hear my downstairs neighbors talking. Right now I am listening to a loud party in the apartment below me that has been going on for the last 5 hours. The floors are so thin I can hear everything my neighbors have been shouting to each other loud and clear. For the price I am paying, I could find a much better place to live.
Do not live here. I’ve lived in a lot of places and this is by far the worst place I’ve lived. It’s way over priced for the quality and the staff and management is terrible. They charged me for the most ridiculous things the day after I moved out and were not helpful in telling me what it was for. (I was still living in the apartment two months after all my roommates moved out and they charged them cleaning fees for the common areas that I was still using) When I asked for clarification I got no response back and a letter almost a week and a half after the fact with a breakdown of my charges. Don’t let all the waived fees and signing bonuses trick out into living here like it did to me. They will do anything they can to get someone to rent with them and suck every penny out of you after the fact. Cheap place with a high price tag
Overall I really love the layout and living inside of a shared home, vs. a shared flat (or smaller still, a shared room). The events often run out of food but at least they try to host and get people together. Pool needs cleaned. Staff is friendly.
