Also there is a flat rate service that was provided to me for exactly the service I needed so there is NO hidden fees. This was a big job and they got it done in 3 hours flat. It would have taken me a week to do it on my own. Well worth the cost and I will call them again

Are we satisfied with Kramer and Sons? We are delighted! They have been our go-to plumber for many years. Since when one needs a plumber, it is usually a near emergency, they have always gone above and beyond in professionalism, promptness, and cleanliness. This time our 20+ years old water heater started leaking on a Sunday. I dropped an email to Kramer and Sons at their website. On Monday morning at 6:44am, I had a reply from Seth Kramer offering to have a technician available for a 7:30-8:30am arrival! Because our old water heater had gone well beyond its expected life, we had done a great deal of research on current water heaters, and knew that we wanted, a heat pump water heater made by Rheem. I requested that the technician not arrive until 9:00am because of a prior commitment, and sure enough at exactly 9:00am, Julio was at my door to check our exact setup and assess the feasibility of installing the heat pump water heater. Julio took some measurements, inspected the access to the basement, and after consulting with Seth, gave me a very fair proposal to install a Rheem 80 gallon heat pump water heater. I gave the OK and agreed to have them install the new unit at 7:30am the next day. The following day, a 3-man team was at my door at 7:30am. It was a VERY tight fit to take the huge behemoth to the basement, but Julio and his team were extremely careful and got it down with no issues. The installation itself was complex because of the specific heat pump requirements, but Julio is a pro and knew exactly what needed to be done, and how to get it done. We now have a highly efficient large water heater in our home. In all our dealings with Kramer and Sons, they have been meticulous about keeping our house clean by wearing shoe covers inside, and cleaning up after themselves. They usually are able to come out the same day, and their prices are very competitive and upfront. I highly recommend Kramer and Sons, and we will continue to use them for all of our plumbing needs.

They are the best! After being ripped off by two other companies, Kramer and Sons will give me an exact price and told me upfront all the fees, services need to be done. If I cannot afford it, they politely say let us know if you need anything else. They have never charged me for more than what I needed and they never attempted to coax me into doing other work that I do not need. I will never go back to another company. We have had a series of problems with water heaters and Seth and Company have been right there with us to get the problems resolved, even to the point that Seth personally came to our house after hours on a very cold night to help install a replacement. We recently had Kramer & Sons fix a leak in our water line. They were extraordinarily helpful and very gracious in considering how to handle the problem with minimal impact on our brand new driveway. Their team was always open to questions and comments while considering options, and very professional with how they approached the task. David and Bailey from Kramer and Sons Plumbing were extremely professional in replacing broken hot water line under slab floor of our house. The break was under permanent island. They were able to replace pipe without taking out island. David also discovered additional pin holes in pipe running to sink and replaced the entire pipe not just broken section with no addional charges. Everything was explained in details that I could understand. They took extreme care in removing laminate flooring and it can be used again saving the expense of buying new flooring. They took great pains to keep mess to a minimum. Not only did they sweep the floor they took time to wipe the floor down to remove dust from having to dig up the slab. I have used Kramer and Sons for years and will continue to use them in the future. I would recommend them to anyone.

Had them out for a $60 evaluation of my plumbing problem. The service guy was here for 10 minutes, did not take any context into account, and recommended getting Dominions homeserve insurance and waiting 30 days to get the problem (mainline backup) resolved. Had a second plumber out (no evaluation charge) and the guy was much more knowledgeable and helpful. No price difference, but Kramers plumber wasnt able to understand the complexity of the case. Just a heads up to homeowners.

Kramer and Sons was great. Scheduling was easy and fast and the woman who helped me on the phone was very nice.The plumber who came out, Juan, may be my new favorite person. My husband and I bought our house in the spring and have been putting off a few plumbing fixes (bathtub faucet pipe was too long, small drip in the basement, lead gasket at the main water shut off valve). Juan explained everything he was going to do and why and was really quick in making the repairs. He even offered some solicited advice on how we could fix other things ourselves, like a semi-clogged bathtub.He communicated well, left everything tidy, and was just generally pleasant to be around. Prices were reasonable and all of the repairs he made look great. I would definitely use Kramer and Sons again and I would request Juan specifically.

I sent an e-mail request for service on a Sunday afternoon and had a service call at 7:30 am Monday morning. The issue was an unusual business complex issue. The service guys figured it out and fixed the problem within 30 minutes. My business was able to open on time Monday morning. The service people were great! Juan was excellent. My parents had an emergency today (on a weekend) and Juan was professional, courteous, and skilled. From the beginning of calling me to set an appointment to keeping me updated on his ETA, he was reliable and professional. And he was efficient and skilled at fixing the problem.

I have a home warranty and Kramer is the company they sent. This company is a complete rip-off. They inflate the cost of everything to get as much money from people as possible. Even with my home warranty they were trying to charge me additional out of pocket costs. Over 700 out of pocket, 300 for a water drainage piece, 300 for a pipe, the rest for miscellaneous whatever. The other companies I talked to told me how the guy was ripping me off and I looked up the actual costs of these items and they’re a fraction of what they were saying. Unless you’re rich you don’t want to use this company.

I have a Sewer Line Repair and Water Line Replacement Service Contract with HomeServe. After my water line was replaced under that contract in July 2019, there was some major settling in the yard, almost to the point where I thought there would be a sinkhole under the sidewalk.I called HomeServe (who also were great and responsive) who sent out Kramer & Sons to check the area, scope the sewer line to see if that was the issue, and to check to see if a water line leak was the cause.Holly at Kramer and Sons called me back and got things scheduled. She was efficient, knowledgeable, personable and funny! The good kind of funny. :-) She let me know what would happen and when.My scheduled window was 7:30-8:30am. Hurrah for small windows! At 7:28am I got an email letting me know that someone from Kramer & Sons was on their way. There was a live tracker that estimated their arrival time of 7:52am. The tracker seemed a bit off, looking like they were stuck in Springfield (there was bad traffic there), but they made it here by 8:02am. Juan and Reggie showed up and got right to work.After coordinating with HomeServe, they ran a video camera through the sewer line and found that it was not straight -- it had shifted up in one section by 1-2, causing a backup in the line.Additionally they found that the water line replacement back-fill had not been done properly and was causing the depressions in my yard and sidewalk.Juan did a great job of walking me through all the issues and they are reporting their findings back to HomeServe.I was thrilled with the work they did and how they did it.Since this work was done under a service contract, Im not sure how much it would have cost me out of pocket. But their communication and workmanship gave me a lot of trust in Kramer and Sons to the point where Id call them again for an out-of-pocket job.Several reviews say that their pricing is high. While I can understand that, getting a job done right and well has a lot of value. Theres not only the cost of the people who are doing the work, but their knowledge and know-how, the cost of gas and the truck, truck insurance, business and liability insurance, etc.This story sums up my thinking.In the early years of this century (1900s), Charles Steinmetz, a pioneering electrical engineer, was brought to GEs facilities in Schenectady, New York. GE had encountered a performance problem with one of their huge electrical generators and had been absolutely unable to correct it.Steinmetz, a genius in his understanding of electromagnetic phenomena, was brought in as a consultant -- not a very common occurrence in those days, as it would be now. Steinmetz also found the problem difficult to diagnose, but for some days he closeted himself with the generator, its engineering drawings, paper and pencil.At the end of this period, he emerged, confident that he knew how to correct the problem. After he departed, GEs engineers found a large X marked with chalk on the side of the generator casing. There also was a note instructing them to cut the casing open at that location and remove so many turns of wire from the stator. The generator would then function properly. And indeed it did.Steinmetz was asked what his fee would be. Having no idea in the world what was appropriate, he replied with the absolutely unheard of answer that his fee was $1000.Stunned, the GE bureaucracy then required him to submit a formally itemized invoice. They soon received it. It included two items:1. Marking chalk X on side of generator: $1.2. Knowing where to mark chalk X: $999.Kramer and Sons knows a lot of things about plumbing. You dont. Pay them for their years of experience and good business practices. While it may feel like a lot, even if they fix your problem in 5 minutes, it would take you years to know what to do, what parts to get, and how to repair it properly and meet code, as well as thousands more for the insurance to cover you if you screw it up.

These guys are fair, honest and professional. We needed them to install a complex water and air heating unit in a tiny utility closet on our condo balcony after a flood. Lots of extra work, but they stuck to their original estimate and did a fine job. Highly recommended.

They replaced my water line from the street into the house. The guys that were here did an outstanding job. They arrived a day before to do some prep work and informed me on how the job was going to be done. They were knowledgeable, polite and very personable. The day of installation went by without one problem. I highly recommend this company based on the work I had done at my house. I will be using them for all my plumbing and HVAC needs in the future.

Kramer & Sons is our go-to for plumbing and HVAC. Like so many others, we found out the hard way that we bought a money pit. Theyve helped us tremendously in holding it together. Their prices are highly competitive, they are very responsive, and the crew--from the office to the guy(s) on the call--are simply good and decent folk.

Last season I was informed that I may need to purchase a new system this season and that came true. The guys at Kramer & Sons not only offered an estimate but they honored the estimate that they gave me last season even though the price had risen. Brian and Seth both came and installed the system which took the entire day and then gave me useful recommendations for air filters and thermostats. The system they recommended was of the Goodman brand and I am most happy with the selection. Its very efficient and quiet and is a perfect for my condo. As far as I am concerned, I can never thank Seth Kramer and his crews enough for the work that they have done for us. I have had several leaks under my foundation slab. This is a major job and it is a dirty and miserable expensive job. Mr. Kramer has gone out of his way and so do his technicians to do things as simply and inexpensively as possible. They are courteous and professional and appear with the proper equipment when they say that they are coming, and leave things clean and neat. I will never use anyone else ever. They are my absolute favorite plumbers.

Extremely disappointed at the pricing ($701) for a 1.5 hour job:$59 service fee$285 to change a flapper and supply line for a toilet$357 to snake a clogged bathroom sinkIm not sure if this is the industry standard for the NOVA area, but this seems outrageously high for some basic and routine plumbing work . If this is not the normal pricing for this type of job and for the area, then I feel Kramer and Sons has been very dishonest and took advantage of the situation. Trust is everything, and I feel like this was broken. I should not have to obtain 5 quotes for a clogged drain to get a fair price.It was easy to schedule the appointment. The staff was friendly and so was the technician. However, I was not left satisfied after such outrageous prices.This was my first experience with them and will probably be my last.

Absolute Rip Off. They wont quote over the phone and charge $49 to come inspect the problem. All I needed was a hose bib replaced. After paying $49, they quoted me $750 to fix - apparently they have a MINIMUM price of $450. The licensed plumber I ended up using only cost $250 (which was the price he quoted me over the phone) and had the job done in 1hour. There is no reason to bother with these people.

These guys are great. Literally, I emailed in the early morning and by 8:45AM, Nick was at our home. Nick is awesome, as is the rest of the Kramer team. However, I have to say that IMO, Nick went beyond the call, when he suggested I purchase a plumbing DIY item from Amazon. Youd think that in these days of tight economy, any business, even possible DIY is good business, but Nick gave me the tools to do some of the future work myself, possibly keeping Nick from our plumbing needs. Just the contrary will occur. Ill never deviate from Kramer after the solid from Nick! Thanks again, Nick & Seth! You guys are great.

Kramer & Sons couldve taken me to the cleaners like another area plumbing co. tried to by saying my *entire* sewage line needed replacing (and that I should replace my water line while I was at it). They couldve given me an early lowball estimate too, just to get my project. But they were honest, gave an appropriate early assessment, instead pointed (correctly) the exact source of the problem, and then professionally and quickly dealt with it. Was it the cheapest? Perhaps not--but neither were they the most expensive. They were simply the most hassle-free and reliable to deal with. Id recommend them. They are furthermore Dominion Electrics provider of choice in the area for the home roots coverage plan which (alas) I couldnt qualify for. Still, having had to deal with nonsense from a range of home service providers in order to prep my house for sale, I would strongly recommend them..

Had a total of 5 visits for 2 different HVAC systems. First visit, charged 250 for a switch replacement, problem still wasnt fixed, 2nd visit was 600 for a new fan, problem still wasnt fixed, 3rd visit was 1800 for motherboard...problem fixed.2nd unit went down 3 months later. 1st visit was 400$ for a new condensation pump, problem wasnt fixed. 2nd visit was free (loose wire from 1st visit), fixed original problem. 2 hrs later emergency drip pan starts to fill with water. Called and told drain pan is probably cracked, quoted at 1250$ for replacement.System started working fine after a few days (no leaks). Got a 2nd opinion and was told probably not the drain pan, just a simple clog. Even if it was, it would be about 650$ to fix.2 stars for always being timely and courteous. Not happy with price and seeming lack of troubleshooting to make sure they know what the problem is before charging for fixes.

Ive been very happy with the service provided by Kramer & Sons, both small routine jobs and emergencies.

I had an early morning appointment, but no one ever showed up or called. When I called them, they said the guy had gone to wrong house and the people there told them they didnt want service. The girl who answered the phone and made the appointments seemed totally unconcerned about the whole thing and seemed to think this was MY fault. Needless to say, I contacted another company (Everclear) who came on time the next day AND was $25 cheaper!
