Frostys technicians are the best in the DMV. Stephanie is amazing to work with and makes the whole experience a breeze. Todd, Larry, and Brandon make repairs and large replacements easy and efficient. Theyre always dependable for quick service and quality work. Lastly, Mary is a delight that is both a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help where she can. Great company!

Tyler was super helpful and knowledgeable on fixing my tankless gas water heater. He was able to identify the issue the same day. I had previously hired 3 different plumbers who told me they didn’t know how to work a Bosch water heater. Tyler got right to work and figured out the issue and was able to come back the next day with the correct tools. He also installed my new nest thermostats we just got. With the help of Andrew, Tyler and Andrew cleaned out my clogged strainer and fixed issues with my PRV that the builder did incorrectly. They were extremely helpful, went the extra mile to help, and make sure everything was working correctly. The next day after that Andrew came and helped me change the settings for the temperature controls something only technicians have access to. They went above and beyond, offered quality service, and are completely trustworthy! If you have hvac issues, water heater problems or any pressure issues these guys are the real deal!!

My 20+ year old heating/AC unit was damaged by a lightning strike. I chose Frostys because they have a regular presence in Fairlington and doing work on these very old homes can be challenging. I am 100% satisfied (thrilled) with every phase of the work, from initial problem diagnosis to discussing replacement options to the actual work of replacing the unit. The 2 gentlemen (Tyler and Paul) doing the replacement work were the most courteous, professional and personable people I have had the pleasure to deal with. What grueling work in this heat. The final installation was fantastic - gained 1/2 of my attic floor back and the system works great. Id recommend Frostys without hesitation. The new AC unit was installed within 48 hours of my first call - thank you - it is (was) hot!

We called Frostys after calling another company that told us we needed to have our unit cleaned. After that service, the A/C still wasnt cooling well. I told the Frostys agent when I made the appointment that I only wanted a diagnosis of the problem and the agent said it would cost $129.95. I agreed and scheduled. The tech showed up early and my husband, whos on an oxygen supply, told him he had to get his husband (me) whos upstairs. The tech said Well how long is that gonna take, I have other calls. Then, when he came inside after looking at the outside unit he started explaining to me what he was finding and wouldnt let me ask any questions. He continued to interrupt my questions when I tried. When I told him I didnt understand, he said, Well I cant dumb it down any more than I just explained. He said next time call someone else and then said we owe $300 for the work he did! I said I was very clear that I just wanted a diagnosis and he said, Well you saw me working out there. I told him again that I just wanted a diagnosis and he said that I was refusing to pay and hed charge the $129 and next time to call someone else. We will! I checked the yes box on their reliability because he showed up on time, but I cant speak to any other reliability. I dont know if the tech was reacting to our rainbow flag and my husbands reference to his husband but, in any event, telling someone on oxygen to hurry is just offensive. His attitude from the start was poor, and only got worse.Follow up: On Friday, I called the company to complain and was told someone would call me back on Monday. Today is Tuesday and no one has cared enough to call back. Really poor service both from the tech, and management.

Do yourself a favor and call these guys. We had what appeared to be a nearly impossible (without smashing out a wall or disassembling our entire HVAC system) hot water heater replacement job. The techs who came out were extremely professional and were able to miraculously remove the old tank and install the new one without having to remove the HVAC or smashing through walls. We had other companies come out and tell us they either wouldn’t do it, couldn’t do it, or they would for 3x the price and without any sort of assurances that it would be successful. They were professional, quick, efficient, and extremely resourceful. Will call them again in the future if we have another issue down the line.

Friendly and professional with clear explanations of what was done and what might be needed with absolutely no upsell. Where someone else (and some other companies in fact have) might have pushed additional services, Todd made rational recommendations and suggestions for easy ways to keep the units running. He even fixed a couple of small items he could have charged for under the normal maintenance. Half of the owners in my complex use Frostys for routine and larger maintenance and we all happily continue to recommend them to others.

Todd from Frostys provided excellent service in repairing our AC, which hadnt been providing cool air. For the diagnostic visit, he was professional and helped explain in simple terms what needed repairing. For the repair visit, Todd was able to come by almost a week earlier than the scheduled visit because he was in the neighborhood assisting someone else. The repair was done quickly and efficiently and now we have functioning AC!

Purchased a new system 2.5 years ago and have had numerous issues since (note, it is still under warranty). Each time a technician comes out they are courteous but months later a new issue appears. This week my system went out completely and I called for service. Technician provides what he called a temporary fix. Two hours later the same issue occurs. I call and report the issue. Technician assures me a supervisor will call first thing the next day and apologized for the issue. Next day arrives and no one calls. I call and am told someone will return my call because they were all in meetings. Several hours later and no call so I call again. I am told a supervisor will come out the next day in the afternoon. Ive now gone almost three full days without ac and the company has yet to contact me. This is extremely poor customer service.

Charged a $90 service fee and $75 per hour (didn’t make that clear when I asked cost) to replace an element on a dryer that shouldn’t have taken no more than an hour. After two hours worth of “work” and making sure the dryer was indeed heating the dryer timer jumped from 44 minutes to 1 and his reply was “that may be your problem right there, the electrical panel.If it is that than you’ll just have to buy a new dryer”. I definitely do not recommend. A huge disappointment and not worth the $285 charge.

Beware. I had a maintenance agreement with Frostys for a rental property. Months after a service visit, the tenant told me that the service person wouldnt go up to look at the unit because they didnt feel safe on the tall ladder. Thats totally fine - lets just get someone else who can do the work. When I called Frostys I asked if the records said anything about the service that was never completed. Nope. The note from the service person was that the service was done. They had even mentioned that the equipment was 12 years old. Which is odd, because it was all replaced just 2 years ago. So, it appears they just copied the previous record and closed up the job - no service provided.So, if you conduct business with Frostys, make sure they actually do the work. FWIW - a neighbor of mine has been totally happy with Frostys, thats why i went with them.

The team at Frostys, from sales to installation, was amazing. This was by far the best experience with an estimate for a new HVAC system because Brandon came in to evaluate the current system and space followed by a person-to-person conversation about needs and options instead of a lengthy presentation meant to upsell a customer. He gave us direct answers to questions and provided a timely quote to replace our aged system that was lower than quotes from two other leading companies for the same system.. From agreeing to the quote to installation was less than 2 weeks. The installation team was led by Brian who took extra time to explain the process, show how some things would change with the new system, and provide pro tips for caring for the system and how to follow up with any questions. We were extremely impressed and are very appreciative.

They charged $209 for coming out and then $89 on top of it for flipping a reset button. !!!$209 for the service call, during the typical workday not weekends, or after hours or emergency. Then the technician claimed they were told the unit continually needed coolant added, indicative of a leak. No one told them that but it didnt stop them from giving me an estimate for $2400 to fix a leak and try to influence me to move foward. If you have that kind of money for a basic call, $209 before ANY work- use them. Theyll be happy to take your money.

We had the joy and privilege of meeting Todd today when he came to service our HVAC unit. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining what he was doing and why he believed certain repairs/replacements need to be done. He paid attention to detail and did a great job at fixing the wiring issue of our compressor and advocated on our behalf to get us the best possible deal for other work which we will have to do. We know of other people in our building who had similar work done by other companies/technicians and were charged much more. He was also just an all-around good person. I couldnt wait to leave Frostys a raving review! Yesterday at some point while my husband and I were at work, our AC completely died. We both work long hours, and didnt know until about 8pm last night when we came home to a HOT house. This morning I tried calling 7 different HVAC services and none of them were able to guarantee a time for today, tomorrow, and some not even until Monday. I honestly had no hope of getting this fixed any time soon. Late last night I had filled out an online form for Frostys and they called me back early this morning, after I thought I exhausted my options. Mary, who was wonderful over the phone, was so kind and professional and was able to schedule a technician to come out today between 12-4pm after I told her I was 8 months pregnant ( I think she could sense my panic over the phone). I was THRILLED, as I couldnt get anyone else to even commit to a time frame. Not only was Mary able to get someone out here, she somehow made it happen TWO HOURS before the promised time! James arrive at my door roughly around 10:30-11am and was able to get everything repaired and up and running by 11:30am! He also explained all of our options moving forward, which was so incredibly helpful. I couldnt believe the kindness that they both showed me and my family today, and I am forever grateful. Thanks Frostys! Will definitely be calling again for any further HVAC needs!

Frostys came for a Spring check-up and discovered two leaks. Recommendation was to replace the system. Our landlord approved. They came back today and installed the new system. They were kind and quick. In and out with system testing all in 3 hours. They also took care of a quick noise issue in one of the ducts - easy fix but nice of them to do it.

This is my first online review, though i have been using the internet for decades. I have justified my reluctance to join this community collaboration by relying on the belief that making assertions based on a single event may not be completely fair and that joining this network of contributors entails the responsibility of being consistently involved. And, of course, there is enough negativity on the internet. However, never before have I encountered an organization that has developed procedures for utilizing negative customer service tactics to create a positive income stream So my hope is that by entering this online community I may prevent someone else from repeating the error I made by hiring FrostysWe own on older condo in Arlington that is a rental. The HVAC system went on the fritz, and the original installer retired during the repair process. I called Frostys because they are close and I have seen them in the area. I described the issues in detail and let them know at the time that our tenant would be out of town the following week and it would be best if I could have the work done then. I was told they would need to send a technician out to make a diagnosis, but they were willing to fit me into their schedule on the day and time our tenant was available . I drove to their Colvin street location, signed the paperwork, and gave them a check for the 129.95 diagnosis fee.Larry went to the condo to perform the diagnosis and sent this report on 7/29.work performed.Work performed: Recommend disconnecting the line-set at the indoor and outdoor units and blow out with nitrogen/RX11 to look for restrictions or sludge. Owner stated that he has gone thru 3 compressors in a short amount of time, all shorted start winding to ground, he is convinced there is a restriction in the line-set. This needs to be verified as well as making sure the indoor coil isnt restricted. Two filter driers in system (liquid line outside of outdoor unit, inside outdoor unit). Will work up quote.***NWD***Needs Work Done ­ Need to work up quote for work to be done. Need to verify whether or not the problem is with line-set/indoor coil.Need nitrogen/Rx­11, 2 men, 4 hours, Rothenberger Press, 2: 3/4 Rothenberger couplings, 2: 3/8 Rothenberger couplings.I called Frostys on 7/30 to check the status of the quote and to attempt to schedule the work for the following week. I spoke to Stephanie who said she would text when she sent the email with the quote so I would know to respond..The silence has been deafening.So for the 129.95 diagnosis fee, I got a tech coming out, saying the unit is broken, and that he needed to work up a quote to make a diagnosis, and nothing else. No return phone call. No e-mail with quote. No explanation.I have begun my search again for an honest, responsive HVAC company. I will update this review with the resolution of my issue. But believe the negative reviews. And look for information on consumer oriented review sites like YELP and Washington Checkbook, rather than those designed for businesses to control. There are customer-oriented HVAC companies in the area. Frostys is not one of them.

Before the scheduled AC maintenance of our 17-year old system per our contract with Frostys, we turned on our AC and it wouldnt blow cold air. Frostys sent someone out the next day. The technician confirmed what we suspected -- that we need to replace our system. The technician walked us through our options in detail, and explained why the more expensive option that we had identified through our own research wasnt a good value. We really appreciated that he didnt try to upsell, and explained the pros and cons of each option thoroughly.

The folks at Frostys Heating & Cooling, Inc. cam by twice, once for review of the issue and diagnosis and a follow up to install the needed new heating. They showed up first thing in the morning both time, and were very friendly in explaining the issues and the work they would do. they got the new heating installed fast, efficiently, and were pleasant the whole way though! First time homeowner and I feel like I was taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge. Either way, Frosty’s is very overpriced and I learned my lesson of calling around to get a second opinion from competitors. A power surge fried my 5 year old thermostat so I needed a new one according to the tech. The cost of having a tech coming out was $130 (when a major competitor is around $90).Technician immediately said he has a very good Honeywell thermostat, how it’s a pro series, it’s the very last one, all these warranties on it, etc. and that he can easily install it for me right then and there. Didn’t really look at the actual new thermostat before agreeing cause I trusted his words. You know how much Home Depot sells it for? Under $65. You know how much he charged me for the basic push button, bulky thermostat and its quick easy 10-15 mins installation? All in the set price of $465.. I get there’s an upcharge and labor costs that I was willing to pay for. But my HVAC unit is fairly new and the thermostat wiring is easily accessible in the living room on a first floor unit.. Total bill was almost 600 dollars. Will never use them again and would not recommend.

Frostys was great to work with, they were extremely responsive when our heating started failing in early January. They correctly diagnosed the problem, did some maintenance to get us back and operational, and worked through getting a more permanent fix once the special-order part was available. When the replacement was bad, they got another one and installed it with no additional charge for the visit.In addition, Phil was great about wearing his mask while inside, which we greatly appreciated!

Was fighting with a warranty company over a broken unit in my new house. Phil at Frostys is a pro. He clearly leveraged his 30+ years of experience and was very patient with the HVAC needing repair/service. He walked me through each step and purpose of his process. I would rate this 4 1/2 stars. The guys doing the work were amazing. The space in my attic is small, so they had to have the right size guys to get the unit up the stairs and into the attic: translation, smaller guys, but incredibly strong and nimble. They were very knowledgeable, professional, and given the virus conditions, they made sure to keep everyone safe. They did it quickly, cleanly and professionally. My only complaint, is I could have used more assistance with being taught how to use the thermostat once the installation was done. They are coming back to help with this, hence the 4 and 1/2 stars. Guys doing the work, five stars.

I called Frostys after I saw a sticker in the VHAC system installed in my property. My guess was that previous owner may have used the service. Upon calling the company, I came to know that it does have the property information in its customer database - so previous owner seemed to have used the service.Phil Robrahn was the gentleman who came to my property to check, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and the Heating system. I knew something was not right with the overall system. Weve a long history with Frostys, installing and maintaining our systems, and they value customer loyalty. Our Trane system was notoriously short-cycling, but doing so intermittently. Phil diagnosed what the source of the failure was, which was going to call for replacement of the coil and associated sensors, an expensive repair. I asked if it might be more cost-effective, over time, to replace the system rather than repair it, not knowing what its lifetime or maintenance requirements could be from this point on. Phil answered many questions I had in identifying and then weighing the pros and cons of the additional cost of a replacement. That was my ultimate choice and Im not second-guessing it. This will be our third system installed by Frostys, and I know it will go OK and that, should there be any problems, they will be remedied. Phils a fine diagnostician and technician.

Frostys is a life saver! Originally, we were without heat for two weeks while waiting on our home warranty to send parts and a reputable technician. Instead of waiting any longer we reached out to Frostys and within hours Todd had diagnosed the issue and was able to provide us with working heat!!

The technician, Joseph “Pat” Murray was extremely kind and considerate of my comfort especially during this COVID19 outbreak. He kept his gloves and mask on the entire time and was very personable. I got a nice heads up when he was on his way both by e-mail and text message. He also gave me a couple of tips on keeping the little critters out of my Units.

I have used Frostys for a great deal of work over the years. In particular, my current home has had a lot of issues with cheap appliances and Ive had to replace both HVAC zones over the last 24 months. I live in DC and this is very difficult as neighbors are always going to be inconvenienced by construction work especially when it involves bringing in a crane and blocking traffic.Frostys sent Leo and Paul who were exceptional. They were on time, professional, worked around kids in the home and wore masks and gloves. I would highly recommend Frostys and Leo and Paul in particular.

Thea is an informative and very personable service person. He identified a major problem with my heat pump that could have resulted in a full system loss. He was able to prevent and repair it for a very modest cost. This guy is proactive honest and a delight to work with. He’s an example of why I’ve been a Frostys client for 15 years.
