Looking for a place to live, had the best customer service anyone could ask for. Yvonne Gallardo was very informative about this location and on helping select a unit that suits my needs, including sitting down and spending extra time to show me photos of the property and amenities offered here. Highly recommend if needing a nice cozy place with a back yard and garage and fir place to set the “mood” this is the place to look. Although pickings are slim Yvonne kept me posted as soon as one became available she let me know. Moving in was a breeze very much enjoyed the move to this complex.
For the year that I lived in these luxurious apartments, I did not have an issue whatsoever. I wanted to stay longer but my significant other and I thought it would be best to move into our own place since I was living here with my roommate and my roommate wouldn’t have to worry about my significant other always intruding on his peaceful times.Anyway, Most of the reviews left on here in regards of management and roaches/insects... well, roaches and insects will not go away. Period. That’s something you will find at any complex whether it’s luxurious or not so for all the “Karen’s” complaining on here need to get off their high horses and come back down to reality. Sorry no one updated you guys first. The management was wonderful. Friendly and never had a problem with anything. They always answered the phone if I had an issue and their maintenance team was great. They came and fixed whatever we requested. The reason why I give it a solid 4 star is because of a car incident. A guy kept messing with the same parked cars in the complex but this is Albuquerque and I think we all should be aware and ready for something like that to happen LOL don’t worry, I don’t think they took anything from that vehicle. I just wanted to mention this because security would be nice since these are luxurious. No negative comments here; just a suggestion.Overall, I loved living here. Spacious for sure and wonderful management and maintenance team.Good job!
Looking for a new home had never been so much fun until I meet Mrs. Yvonne Gallardo. Her great customer service and professional attuited made wanting to live here easy. I have not moved in but am sure I will be calling this home soon, Thank you Yvonne for letting me and my family know customer service is still alive and that truly friendly people still exist
I have lived at Mesa del Oso for almost 10 years and I certainly wouldnt have stayed here that long if it werent a wonderful place to live. The apartments are spacious and the back yards are a real treat, both for me and for my dogs. I cannot recommend the complex too highly.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Our moving in experience should’ve told us what we would be getting into. We moved in about 2 months ago and from the beginning they promised us *mind you we are paying for a completely “renovated” home* that our home would be ready for our move in date. We decided to stop by the week of moving in to see how things were going, the home hadn’t been worked on yet. The day before our move in they called us to let us know we would not be able to move in at our original move in time they needed to push it back 2 hours. They then called us half an hour before that new move in time to let us know they needed 3 more hours to move in. When we showed up at that now 3pm move in time the home was still not finished. They had a maintenance man working on the home and he didn’t know there were tenants moving in that day. The communication problems we had with management has been a nonstop runaround. Jessica is a terrible manager that will constantly tell you “sorry, what would you like me to do about it.” The “renovated” home came with a broken toilet, mildew bathtub that had the lining replaced to “look” new. The oven was completely filthy with caked on grease. The fridge they had in our apartment looked as if they got it from the dumpster. There were punch fist indentions along side with no door handle. The inside smelled rotten and the door handles would fall off anytime you opened the fridge with the lining of the fridge hanging off. It took multiple complaints to get a new fridge. The screens on the sliding doors were off the railings and couldn’t be used. They had no weather stripping which allowed for spiders and cockroaches to enter the home. The cockroaches have been a battle in itself. They are EVERYWHERE. It’s absolutely disgusting to see any type of bug anywhere in your home. There are many problems. And the spiders are another battle. We have killed black widows, brown recluse spiders that are the size of tennis balls and is something no one should have to experience. We recently found out we are expecting. I have been suffering from terrible headaches, runny nose and having my asthma act up and smelling a smell I have never smelt before. We decided to do an at home test kit for mold. Mold grew. Management said the test kits will always grow mold no matter where you place them and there is nothing to be done unless there was a major leak in the home. They can’t do anything off of the sick symptoms and that is is probably from my pregnancy I am experiencing. They can’t do anything and if they did they would have to let everyone have the same opportunity out of their lease for same symptoms. I would NOT recommend this complex. The number of problems along side with the smell and symptoms it is causing me are not worth the money spent in this complex.
Place sucks parking lot dark all the time broken my truck twice, open my garage and stolen all tools, management they don’t do it anything, not even answering phone calls from residents jus new tenants……!
So loved the treatment I received when talking to a very nice lady named Yvonne. She was very knowledgeable on all of the units that were available and those that were coming up available soon even sent me a virtual tour seeing as I am looking to move to that area from a different state and I loved all the information that was given to me. I look forward to becoming a future resident with such awesome staff!Thank you again Yvonne I appreciate all the help you gave me.
Management really helped me when I was in a pickle, picked me up when I was all the way down. Loved it.
Ive been fortunate enough to live here for the past year and I cant even begin to express the gratitude I have for Yvonne in the front office along with the maintenance team which is always on the ball helping as I soon as I call. Im hoping to renew my lease this fall. The pools are nice and clean the gym was easily accessible along with always plenty of parking and nice neighbors.
YVONNE your the best! Im always happy to see your face and to hear your cheerful voice. I have lived here for many years. Seen alot of management in my time. But one thing is for sure, the things you have done in just the short amount of time you have been here are amazing! You have made us all happy to continue to live here. Thank you to the maintenance staff as well.
Maintenance. Ive been at this complex 3+ years, and the maintenance team (Taun and Moose) have been very efficient, friendly, and professional each time Ive needed something worked on at my home. They have responded quickly when needed, addressed the issue, and kept me informed of the status of the fix. I appreciate them and the work they do. Thanks much, guys!
Moving from out of town was something i was a bit nervous about. One thing is for sure, thanks to yvonne she has made the whole transition very easy. From sending me videos to photos of every angle of the condo. To the outside of the area. The resident event she had for us (social distancing) of course was just amazing. One thing i like about this young lady is she kept us so informed especially with the new norm were having to get use to. Whether its through a simple email she sends out to us or letters to our doors, im glad i am a tenant here at mesa del oso.
DO NOT rent from this place. They charge extra to pick up your trash which is mandatory. They do not have ramps for the disabled even when promised. The fireplaces need to be cleaned and can not be used due to ashes going all over the place. Cockroaches and mice are prevalent. Toilets are so old they clog easily and hard to get anyone out in a timely manner. Repairs take for ever to get done. The maintenance people are nice but are few. Office people could be a lot kinder. Good location but not worth the hassle. Very expensive for service you get.
This is the second time Ive lived at Mesa. This experience is far better. The management team and maintenance staff are professional, friendly and courteous. My requests for maintenance are handled within 24 hours of my request, and I am always notified of the status of the work and when work has been completed. The common areas on the property have been well taken care of as well as overall community-wide improvements. The location is very convenient for all activities and work in the Albuquerque area. I recommend this community to anyone who enjoys a casual lifestyle.
I have lived here for nearly 5 years and I would say my experience has been awful ever since Greystar took over management (I think that was about 4 years ago). They offer a unique living experience, which is why I originally moved here, but I have had so many negative experiences, which I will not list here because it would drive me crazy to recollect them all. Essentially the only reason why I’m still here was the hope I used to have that it would improve, the hope that has finally run dry. I would not recommend to anyone that they move here. In fact, I have actively been recommending that they do not, and have finally decided to post this review. I plan on moving out as soon as I reasonably can.
I am writing a review on behalf of my mom who is 65. When we found this apartment complex she fell in love. She loved how open they were, the tall ceilings, and especially the large backyards for her dogs to enjoy. When she first looked at her specific unit the fence for the yard was falling down with many wood pieces missing. We asked if the fence would be fixed before she moved because its a security issue for both herself and her dogs. They assured us it would be fixed before she even moved in. She was ecstatic and signed a lease that day! This was in April. Here we are in October and she still doesnt have the fence fixed! She cant use her backyard because her neighbor had a dog and every time she goes out there, her neighbors dog tries to get through the hole in the fence to get to my moms dog! When they hooked up the ac over the summer, the unit constantly leaked water whether her unit was on or off. They never fixed it and now she has mold seeping through the ceiling! She notified management over a month ago and they said they would take care of it immediately and nothing! A couple weeks ago they switched the heater back on. She notified them earlier this week that her heater was not turning on. In anticipation to hopefully have it fixed before Thursday when there was a major cold front that moved in which we had freezing temps of 27 degrees. And you guessed it she still does not have heat. And they also did not supply space heaters! We had to go out and get some so she would have a semi warm house during this cold front!!! Management is a joke. I have never experienced management act so concerned, lie to your face saying these things would be fixed, all with a smile on their face knowing nothing would not be fixed. Dont be fooled by a pretty exterior! This place is a joke!!!!
I’ve lived here a year and let me tell you I couldn’t be more happy to finally be moving out of here. Place is infested with black widows and having all the greenery everywhere is no excuse because there is stuff to spray the green with to prevent all the spiders. The gym equipment is so old it turns off on you. The parking lot lights have been out all year leaving it pitch black at night. South pool has been out of service for 2 years. Started getting charged for going month to month with no notice till the last minute which is $200 + 1,150 rent. This place is a joke. I don’t recommend anyone moving here.
I have to say property management of this complex is horrible! I went in today after living I this horrible complex for 3 years. There were two girls working I the office today. I asked about incentives for signing a new lease. I was told in the exact words there are no incentives you can take it or leave it I then asked about hiding my 60 day notice. I was told you can give notice but there is no guarantee my apartment will be available before the end of my lease. Further, the complex is instituting a additional $20.00 charge for a concierge trash service. This charge is mandatory regardless of whether the tenant does not want to use. The insult is the complex sent out notifications the service was free but appears they switch and bait when there is a lease renewal. I have absolutely had it with the property management for this complex. The lack of respect a current tenant gets is ridiculous. No wonder so many people are vacating this complex.
I just renewed my lease. My decision was based on all the improvements made recently. I highly recommend living here, its a real nice medium lifestyle between apartment living and a house. Neighbors are nice and helpful. After reading other reviews, I have to contradict that after living here for four years.
We moved in in Jan., we were never shown the actual unit we would be moving into, only the model unit. Handicap beware, you cant use the pools if you cant use stairs. I have asked them over 15 times to fix the uneven sidewalks or at least spray them yellow, I felt that was a reasonable accommodation. 6 Months later, I fell due to the uneven sidewalks. There is no hand rails on steps that drop 6-7 and the yellow paint that was there is long since gone. Unit repairs: 3 times they fixed the sliding door because it is very difficult to open. It work for a short period, but WD-40 only does so much. I went to open the sliding door and the entire handle feel apart. Asphalt is buckled so bad in some areas, it is unsafe. My roommate fell twice and they would not to an accident report. Another tenant broke her ankle taking out her trash due to the asphalt. My roommate twisted her ankle last night because of poor lighting and uneven sidewalks. This place is a hazard to both able bodied and Handicap! If you are in a wheelchair, dont expect to be able to get off the walkways because there are no cuts in the sidewalks. Management does not care about the safety of there tenants. We pay $1100.00 every month and cannot use the pool because there are no ramps. Food for thought. Black widows are everywhere as well as other spiders and roaches are EVERYWHERE!. There bug guy sprays every month, but the problem is so bad, they would have to bomb every unit to kill all the spiders! All they care about is you paying your rent.
I have lived here for two years and nothing truly gets fixed. My gate was supposed to be fixed over a month ago and it is still broken. The Manager promised she would get it fixed ASAP. My dog got out and picked up by animal welfare thankfully. They have 2 maintenance guys for the entire complex ---which is just not enough. Closet door was put on with the inappropriate size door and doesnt close. Chimney was not cleaned out this year etc.... Dont waste your money here.
I enjoyed my time living here however there were a few things I didn’t enjoy, when I lived here maintenance was slow to respond to issues, I had a broken toilet for months “because I had a second toilet”, or the parts took forever to order. I moved out almost a year ago and I still have not received my refund check from them. After multiple times talking to the staff and asking what has happened no results. Their account department or whoever has not followed through with getting me my money. If I owed them money they would have sued my by now for any of it but all I get are half promises and unfollowed through issues.
I would give 0 stars if possible.
The complex is fairly old and since we moved in a year ago, we’ve had a few issues that were primarily the fault of a dirty previous tenant.... roaches, cat pee soaked carpet, etc. Despite this, the management has been so pleasant and easy to work with, and fixed all of these issues for us quickly and without question. They set up to have our house sprayed every month (which is necessary living anywhere in Albuquerque in older apartments), have been available to answer all questions we call about. We had some issues re-signing our lease due to a system change within the company, and the management team worked with us and fairly priced our rent until we were able to re-sign. They are SO responsive and happy to help. I feel like managment puts the tenants before making money, and that really is why I’ve chosen to stay. The location is right by great hiking, and they are pet friendly!
On top of being super friendly, Cidney has a tremendous amount of knowledge about the community and she is very attentive. The community speaks for itself... very clean, well maintained, quiet, gorgeous layouts, high ceilings, yard, garage, no one above you. What more could you want? I cant wait to call Mesa my home!!!!!
Cant wait to move from this place it has mold. Power plugs work when they want. Its very old just covered with new paint. Way overt priced would not recommend moving here.
Ive lived about 3 years and one of the outside light has been out since i moved in which has been reported various of times & now another one has gone out. These lights have been on the ground for long time making very dark in the area. Ive had various of leaks that has ruined furniture & leaving my place smelling like mildew especially in the hot summer nights. The maintenance crew has no knowledge on how to fix various of things which is frustrating. The only maintenance guy capable of repairing is stretched thin. Management changes drastically leaving unfinished problems so reporting has to start all over with new company. Ive been ask why dont I moved well the area is great Ive had some personal life changes that has me financially unable to just uproot at the moment so I have no choice but to stay put for now. This would be a wonderful place if the property was maintained in best condition but what can I say its not. Im not one to rate or report because Im an understanding person but Im fed up with this place especially paying a lot of money to live here.
The staff was great in helping me move in quickly. Since being here, I’ve had a huge problem with spiders and cockroaches. My service requests are “completed” on the online system but never actually fixed. My fence has been broken since April and only getting worse. The entire fence is rotting and leaning like it’s about to fall. Instead of replacing it, they remain the old rotted boards and use a stick to holdup the falling fence. Also, the foundation is cracked and there was a 1/4”-1/2” gap between the bottom of the wall and the floor. I ended up repairing that without the help of maintenance because bugs/dirt/leaves were constantly getting into my bedroom, closet, and dining room. I would not recommend living here if you can avoid it.
Management is very unresponsive and has done a horrible job of maintenence and upkeep since changing owners a few years ago. The hot tub is always closed in the winter now which is the only time we need it! The grounds and not kept well and street lamps and light fixtures will fall and never be repaired. With this much rent we expect better... It is a nice complex, just very old and terribly managed. Maintenance work is sub par and breaks again. Phone calls and emails go completely ignored. Many roaches and black widows.
I love it here! The apartments are very nice, the location is amazing. The kitchen is huge, there is so much natural light in my house as well, which I adore. The backyard is perfect for my dog, I also love that my backyard has trees. Its a very nice complex. Everyone that lives here is sweet & neighborly. Ive seen a lot of people on here complain about bugs & maintenance taking too long, but the way I see it is there are a ton of bushes, trees & grass everywhere & those are the homes of little creatures like cockroaches, spiders & snails. Its unavoidable they come hand in hand. Theyre all outside, I only see a bug in my house once in awhile. I did have a spider problem in my yard front & back but they came & took care of it within the week. The maintenance does take a little while to take care of non emergency repairs or issues but thats only because this complex is huge. There are so many units & ive only seen about 2-3 guys working at a time. So theyre working their butts off & I appreciate them. So I can wait an extra few days. The only thing that kept me from giving this place 5 stars is the fact that they still have swamp cooling. Its been a little bit too hot in my house for my liking. & I do believe that for luxury apartments there should definitely have refrigerated air. But Ive heard that theyve upgraded quite a bit within the last year or so. So Im hoping that will be the next step! But I am very happy & proud to say Mesa Del Oso is my home.
I was enjoying it here, but here it is mid- May after weeks of hot weather and still waiting for our air to be turned on. It is seriously affecting my pets and still nothing. This should have been done a month ago, period. Not to mention, only one pool is open. We pay a significant rent here for the amenities, that arent available. So disappointed.UPDATE - The 2nd NEVER opened. Also, I have now moved out 2 months ago and I am STILL waiting for my deposit. I am constantly getting a run around as to why I have not received it.
PLEASE READ - DO NOT COME HERE!This place looks great from the outside, & the model unit they let you see first is completely different from the actual unit you will be living in.The moment you walk into the actual home/apartment it all falls apart. Everything is made extremely cheap, and falling apart because of how old everything is. The ceilings leak, the doors and windows dont close completely, there is terrible patch work everywhere on the walls, and beware the very thin cabinet shelves that will not hold anything except maybe cheap plastic-wear, and it doesnt help that it takes weeks to get any sort of repairs done, and even when they come to fix anything, its quick, shady patchwork that isnt going to hold up very long.Next, the cockroaches are the worst Ive seen in my entire life! You cant even walk around your own home without worrying your going to step on about a thousand of them, not to mention they end up in the beds and on the counter tops! Seriously EVERYWHERE!Finally, the place was already overpriced in my opinion, but the beginning of this year (2016) a new management place Greystar took over, and everything else went downhill. They raised the already outrageous prices to live at this hell hole, and every time you talk to someone in the main office they are rude and dont seem to care.Bottom line, find someone else to live. This place is disgusting and a waste of good hard earned money.
Unless you like living with thousands of cockroaches, Overpriced rent, & slow/unprofessional/uncaring maintenance, Id strongly suggest finding elsewhere to live.First off, Roaches are EVERYWHERE, this isnt a simple bug problem, its an infestation - they are in the walls, cabinets, floors & they will end up in all your furniture & literally falling on top of you on a daily basis!Second, Rent is absolutely absurd for these aged units that are falling apart & swarming with bugs - & they even have the audacity to raise your rent even higher if you renew, (which I obviously didnt) even when youre a model tenant! Quite & always on time with payments. Finally, Their maintenance crew is super shady....I could do better job than them. VERY rude & unprofessional! While I was out of a town one weekend - They were supposed to be updating my roof. They ended leaving tons of trash on my roof when they were done, causing my drain to become clogged. We got a massive rain storm that weekend & since they water had nowhere to go it sat on my roof - eventually the weight & crappy roof job caused several huge leaks in one bedroom and the living room! I came home to a flooded house, furniture & electronics also drenched.
August 19, 2018. Management has some gall advertising 2 pools and spas The 2nd pool was never opened this whole summer and has never had a working Jacuzzi. The main pool by the office is frequently closed and has a jacuzzi with one jet that sort of works. All the residents now have to squash into one pool, then management claims there is vandalism so they have an excuse to close it again. How do they show new residents the property and deliberately avoid showing the 2nd pool? New residents beware!
Customer service was awesome and fast. Tuan the maintenance guy was very nice and professional. A+++ . Very Friendly staff
The maintenance and office staff are awesome! Love the location and the private backyard is great so my dog and a place to hang out when Im at work.
Lived here with my sister for a year (back in 2015) .A previous review said that this place is definitely not handicapped friendly and theyre right. I myself am not handicapped, but my sister, whom I lived with is. But I have almost fallen a few times at night from the lack of lighting. They also dont even care to do anything about it. Theyd rather spend money on new dumpsters, flashy signs and the pool. They also extended their small parking lot by the leasing office, but the staff kept continuously parking right in front of our home, making it more difficult for my sister to get easier access to the condo. Weve had to ask them multiple times to park somewhere else. The place is also pretty old, which doesnt bother me too much, but the roaches and black widows are definitely taking over.
Horrible management. Different management companies and mangers monthly who have no idea whats going on. Fought with 3 different management groups about getting a fence fixed for 2 months. Rude employees and considering this is one of the most expensive apartment complexes in town, youd think they would treat their residents a little better. We could get the same square footage and finishes for $200-300/month cheaper at other places in town.
Dont let the model unit, or the phrases upgraded unit and remodeled fool you, this place is 36 years old and it shows. Underneath the new paint everything is rotting and bugs are hiding. Mold in the shower? Recaulked! Fence dilapidated? Theyll re-nail the 3 worst boards and call it good as new! Black widow infested. Rude and unsympathetic management under constant turnover with no ethics or professionalism.Reported an infestation of spiders everywhere inside and out, no matter how much we clean or spray. Complaint was not taken seriously and when I escalated, the manager told me they had done everything we can by sending their contracted discount bug spray guy (Flints Pest Control- also wouldnt recommend) to us 3 times. I was treated like a liar, and felt mocked when manager finally sat down to talk with me. I was asked why I had cleaned and killed the bugs, instead of documenting and saving all of them for proof. After 18 months of being an ideal tenant, both quiet an timely with rent, this is how I have been treated. Have notified BBB, City of ABQ and Channel 4, since I cant seem to get any real help from the people running this place.Keep yourself and your family safe and STAY AWAY or you may find yourself living in fear in your own home, trapped by insects and an unbreakable lease equally! This is the worst place I have EVER lived, and that is saying something, considering some of the questionable student housing I occupied in college!
My aunt actually lives here not me. But I wonder why they wont fix the bubble compresser in their hot tub. And why there not opening the 2nd pool. But seems like a ok place to live.
There are a lot of cockroaches and the upgrades are cheap paint over cabinets that are cracked from water damage. Mold smelling in the units.
The new clubhouse and pool are great. My kids love it.
Very high crime rate. Theft at multiple units throughout the complex. Poor lighting throughout the property
I really do hope this place has improved, but I lived here for 2 years, and it was a nightmare. I constantly had maintenance issues, the rent was really high, and the area is not safe. We had lots of problems with people breaking in to the garage doors. If it isnt maintenance problems, then take a look at all of the roaches and other bug problems they have throughout the community. The pools wernt well maintained, and overall, everything looked like it was falling apart. Whats deceiving about this place is from the road it looks really modern and nice, but once you start living there, watch out. Again, this was my experience from a few years ago. I hope they have turned things around.
Wait way too long for repairs to be made. I do not blame the property manager, but Grey Star. Grey Star did a nice job giving the place curb appeal, but has not taken care of the apartments.
Hello, I have lived here for almost two years. Yes the company that owned the property before ingnored it and charged a large amount and was sold on facilitys that are crap. But was recently sold to another company. It has been rought but only because they are actually trying to get work done and repair units that were negletted for so long. They are making huge progress especially with Im asuming the small budget they have. Twon I probbly misspelled his name he was brought in from another complex he is great gets the work done with great quality and he is very nice and cleans up after himself very well and takes pride in his work witch is always hard to find when it comes to properties in Albuquerque . Martine is another matenence worker who is great as well. This complex has much potential and is showing progress. Grey star the company that owns this complex just needs to raise there budget to speed up the progress people dont see the potianal and understand what it takes. I am patient but they need to start some type of reward program or lower the rent partially while renovating the property I dont pay what I pay to be in this eviorment. It is getting allot better but like I said Grey star can be doing better. All the office staff are great and doing there best but there pencil pushing board needs to give them the tools to suceed. If it wasnt for the office staff and some of the matence team I would of reported this property to the better tenant accocoiation. Ignore the missspelling and grammar done on my phone while eating .
NEW OWNERS = GRAYSTAR STAFF RUDE AND SO FAR SINCE NOVEMBER THEY HAVE HAD A DIFFERENCT MANAGER EVERY MONTH ....... GRAYSTAR TOOK OVER IN NOVEMBER, AND EVERYTHING WENT HORRIBLE, I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH ORIGINAL STAFF AND WHEN IT WAS VIRTU PROPERTIES, NOW graystar if over pricing the of the apartments it went from 1059 to 1,200. - I WILL SPREAD THE WORD - DO NOT LIVE AT MESA DEL OSO APARTMENT, LIKED IT BETTER WHEN THEY WERE CALLED CONDOS.
Cidney is amazing!! She makes all the difference!! Love my home!!
Sarah is a gem! The whole staff is professional and kind and made my move exceptional.
Worst apartment complex in the entire state they lie to their tenants about the swamp coolers its 85° at 10 at night and mr. John Evans I will be joining that lawsuit I will see you at your apartment tomorrow and I hope that news channel 7 does interview you Id like to say some things myself
Service sucks run down and staff is very rude. Trying to get them to fix something is next to impossible.
New improvements are amazing.!
Nice backyards
