24 HR Fitness has decided that the pool will be closed every Friday from 5am to 6:30am for maintenance. This is not in the contract that I signed and it is not even posted. I think it is discriminating against people who have to work from 8 to 5 and need to be able to get their workout in before work. This gym claims this is when the pool is the slowest but speaking from experience using it for over 8 years that is not the case. All lanes are usually in use at that time. I feel they should close it sometime during the hours of 8 to 5, because the people who can use the gym at this time probably dont work and can adjust their free time to make it to the pool anytime during that time frame. This gym also tends to have an opening person that cant seem to make it at 5 am on many occasions and you cant get in the gym till somewhere after 5:30 am, thereby another day I am not able to take advantage of my membership and get in a workout.

I came in for a trial as Im looking for a gym to supplement my family gym membership. Not only were masks enforced, but I watched as staff went around and cleaned even after others had cleaned after themselves. David and Jonathan were absolutely wonderful, David being kind enough to work with my schedule and not push me to come in was great. Jonathan showed me around of the floor while David was in a meeting and it was refreshing to know he cared not just about the gym quotas and sharing facts, but my goals, my current fitness game set and how I felt 24 would benefit me not just how can a sale be made.I would definitely work out here again!

If youre looking for a gym to workout in with little to no attention to the gym floor then this is the gym for you. The pros: it has a lot of great workout equipment and the facility has a pool and a basketball court. The cons: the weights are never stacked properly, the benches are missing weights 80% of the time, 90% of the time the cleaning supplies (to wipe down workout equipment ect.) are nonexistent. Personally, I expect a lot more from a high end gym.

Update: NO MORE DEADLIFTING ALLOWED!!!Corporate came in today and laid down the law. Standard bench bars which have the best grip are no longer allowed to be used for deadlifting. You are no longer allowed to deadlift outside of their warped platforms. You can only deadlift on these platforms with the Eleiko bars which have little to no knurling and these are the same bars the get bent permanently. Also, only the Eleiko bars are allowed in the platform area. You cannot bring your own bar to deadlift (liability). It’s sad to see this gym decline to the depths of Planet Fitness. I had put my confidence in this gym and recommended it to dozens of people since I started here years ago. But now those days are over. This gym is slowing becoming a class and treadmill gym.DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. Save your money and go elsewhere. Retro Fitness, Backbone Barbell, Orlando Barbell, and Crunch Fitness are some far greater alternatives.——Edit finished——Since January up to now, Mondays thru Wednesdays of every week are incredibly packed from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Stay away during these times if you hope to have a timely workout. The powerlifting station was designed for 4 people to work there, but that is clearly not enough for a gym that constantly tries to quadruple their clientele. During peak hours, each platform usually has 1-2 people on it now; one person squatting and the other person deadlifting off the back of the platform. (Staff doesn’t like for us to deadlift off the main rubber floor). But on peak hours of Mon-Wed, at least 12 people are trying to use this area at once, which means the bumper plates are completely exhausted. This is because people are getting away with deadlifting outside of the platforms by creating their own lifting area on the side.R.I.P. for the trainers who want their clients to use this area during these hours.95% of the barbells are taken to the powerlifting stations for squats and deadlifts, leaving the 5 benches on the other side of the gym without more than 2 barbells! This gym needs their corporate offices to buy more barbells, expand the powerlifting area twice over and double up the bumper plate rack. For a lack of space, the TRX ropes cage area should be removed, or 25% of aerobic machines removed for the TRX ropes cage to take that place instead. Whenever I see people lined up at the squat cages at the other side of the gym, even on a Thursday, I ask some of them, “why not go to the powerlifting area?” The answer is always the same, it’s full and unusable.I can’t wrap my head around why half the gym is populated in grossly underused aerobic machines, which is a huge waste of space. This isn’t the 80s and 90s anymore, people love to lift weights, and squatting, deadlifting, clean and jerks, etc. is the foundation of this new age of the gym goer’s population that 24hr Fitness fails to take into consideration. Unfortunately, this is the most equipped 24hr Fitness location in and around Greater Orlando. The Lake Mary, Kirkman, Apopka, Hunter’s Creek, and Downtown locations all have only one or two platforms for squatting/deadlifting/etc. and they reside on the second of their buildings, so absolutely NO deadlifting outside the platforms will ever be tolerated.

Update 2/6/2020 today I walked into my favorite workout the cycle room. I encountered two 24 gym staff trainers one local and the other out of town. One was teaching the other how to do a cycle class. I come in and they gave an unfriendly look. The room was obviously open to the Public. I felt some unwelcome I took a chair and pull up a YouTube cycle class so I wont disturb them. I dont care how good of trainer you are, you will never successful if you dont know how to provide basic customer service and make your clients welcome. After, they finished they did not have he audacity to plug the TV back so other people can work out. This place needs some training on how to make people feel welcome.I really have want to like this 24 hours fitness location. However, it seem the virtual classes does not any sounds the volume is off orIt is broken. Adjusting the valúen control from the tv does not work. So I normally dont leave reviews but Im EXTREMEMLY disappointed i was not able to workout and wasted my time with 24 Hour Fitness. This is a members only 24 Hour gym! Be aware! And I just ate a crap load of energy and pre Workout. Soooo Im wayyyy not in the mood to just be sitting around. So not cool. Please advertise this! It’s barely above room temp and tastes pretty gross. The cleaning people don’t seem to care if they’re in your way while you’re busy with weight in your hands, even during busy hours, and I’ve seen hairballs, layered dust on surfaces and the bathrooms usually stink too. The equipment is almost always open and if its not, it opens up within a few minutes. I come to work out, not to talk, not to make friends, just to workout. Thats the only perspective I have and from that perspective, I say its a great facility and a great experience. Ive never had a problem with staff or any of the other members. Every once in a while, somebody will sit on a piece of equipment for 10 minutes looking at their phone, but not often.

The loud and obnoxious voice of a woman screams at us from behind. She walks fast and talks fast towards us. I didnt catch her name because her crooked smile and look of disgust distracted me. She rushed to tell us she opened the store as her body language pointed us to the door. Her complaint was that we did not sign in and we didnt give ID. When I asked her why the yound man didnt say this at the front. She gave us the Oh hes new My initial thought was is this not the norm for him being at the front desk. Really? Upon our entrance of the facility there were 4 employees with their backs turned standing behing the front desk having a conversation it. My boyfriend and I waited patiently for one of the employees to finish their conversation and acknowledge that they now had customers. After a while an employee finally asked if they could help us with anything. We proceeded to tell them our needs, we handed them our IDs and he pointed us to a computer. A while after waiting for them to help everyone else who came into the door until they came back to assist us. Alex is a very unpleasant customer service associate. Each reply he gave us was very rude. They would not permit my African American boyfriend to use his 3 Day Pass that was supposed to be honored after filling out the application on the website. While engaging in conversation with Alex we received many rude remarks and also saying that he cant do anything unless we want to buy a membership at this gym. We chose this place because it had a pool, a pretty big gym, a basketball court, and of course it was 24 hours. It was very, very pricey for what its worth. We were first approached by a guy named, Daniel. He seemed pretty nice to us...at first. We told him how we cant afford to pay over $215 a month and he was fine with that, so he lowered down the price and it was still expensive so me & my wife decided to take our names off so itll be cheaper and well let our kids go to the gym, it ended up to be around $140. The boss of Daniel said he will give my wife and I a free month and he was actually a really really nice man. So we bought it, because we decided to see how the gym was just in case we want to stay there. My daughter was doing the fingerprint ID thing, and the woman who helped her seemed like she didnt even care about her job, she wasnt even that nice (I think her name was Michellee or something). Skip to 2 weeks later (today), my wife comes to take her and the kids to the gym so they can swim and workout, AND THE WOMEN DIDNT EVEN LET HER! About last week a nice young person gave us a piece of paper saying that that piece of paper could be how we get in instead of a whole process. The women (Michellee) said we needed an ID, but very strange how we didnt need an ID after we showed them the paper the whole week before. So my wife had to sit in front of the door, very frustrated. She waited to talk to Daniel about this problem, and he was being nice to her by telling the very rude women that we had a month pass, and she didnt even look at him when he was trying to talk to her and after she says, Were not letting you come next time without your ID. I came by 30 min. later wanting to talk to Daniel, who I think is the manager?, and then going to the gym after, but I couldnt because of this lady said I needed an ID to come in even though I had the piece of paper guaranteeing that we only need that to come in. So I said that its time for us to move to a new gym by them end of the month, and she replied with an I dont care. That was very rude so me and my family all left, we are planning to call the gym tomorrow to talk to them. :)

Instead, management tries to charge me TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS for a one day pass! What a joke this place is. I wanted to use the 3 day trial that I saw online (because Ive never been a member of a gym and I wanted to try the classes) but one of the sales managers gave me some excuse/line on why I couldnt use it and tried to push me to get the 12 month membership. I signed up against my better judgement. Needless to say, I immediately called when I got home and changed it to the month to month membership.I signed up solely for the group fitness classes as I enjoy those the most and have always taken them at other fitness studios (not the gym). This is one of the worst experiences. The instructors dont show up sometimes, their headsets are never working, one of them always talks about how tired she is, and now they have canceled one of the early morning classes all together.Overall not a great experience and its definitely not what Im used to. The only reason Im giving it 3 stars is because it is very nice inside and the ladies working at the front desk are very nice.**UPDATE: Still no 5:45 AM Tues/Thurs BODYPUMP class added back. My girlfriend and I were debating on which gym to sign up for and decided to check on the new 24 hr Fitness nearby. We had no intentions of signing up, but wanted to check it out. After waiting for 1 hr which I overlooked that day, they showed us around and at the end we told them we weren’t thinking of signing up that day as we also liked other options. The sales rep, beware of him, his name is Philip, went on to offer us a “great” deal if we signed up that day where he lowered our initiation fees and gave us 12 one hour sessions of personal training for half the price if we signed up at that moment. We were hesitant and he kept pressuring us how it was only a deal if we signed up on that day, but he saw we weren’t budging and offered us to lower the initiation fees all the way to $10 for each. So at the end of the day, 2 signups and 12 sessions of personal training for about $400, we thought, that it was a “great” deal and proceeded to sign up the long like 10-20 page contract.Boy were we wrong, the next month, I unexpectedly get billed $600, the other half of the personal training and all the remaining initiation fees. We were never told this, Philip explicitly said it was whatever we paid on that day and then all we had to worry about were the monthly fees. When I approach management about this situation, they pretty much insinuated that I was lying and heard wrong. In my opinion they were trained to handle this exact situation, I spoke to one manager first and then another one and they responded the same way, to the point of using the exact same words which was fishy. When I question them about the lies of the “great” deal, they responded by saying I did get a deal because personal training is usually a little more expensive. But even that doesn’t change the fact about not being told about the second part of the payments. It doesn’t make sense to me to lower my payment at the start just to have to pay the rest NEXT month unless you are trying to fool people into signing. Because by the time you get billed that second time everything is non-refundable.One last thing is that management is extremely young, employees and managers are all basically the same age and friends and I could see how they did not like when I pointed out the lies of Philip, which is probably a close friend. As I was leaving, I asked about where I could go to write a complaint, they told me online but pretty much told me it is a waste of time as the complaint eventually ends up with them. Very disappointed, as it is a great gym in my opinion, but by thinking about short term success they lose out on potential long term customers which isn’t the best way to do business.

Used to love this gym! Member for about a yr and a half now. Signed three people up even over that time. All to be ruined by pig employees that harassed my GF that just signed up. She walked in around 3am to be asked by the front desk “is that guy you come with your BF?” “Cause you’re hot”. Then she says that they followed her around at the point she felt uncomfortable! I will be canceling as soon as I get time to. ITS A GYM! Very minimal conversation should be had with members. 24 maybe thought it was a bar DT.

This location as well as Lake Mary will no longer be 24 hours. I usually workout here around 2am due to my job schedule. The only reason why I signed up for this gym was due to it being 24 hours. So are they going to change their name now lol. I‘ve cancelled my membership to find another 24 hour gym.

Most of the staff are rude and lazy the all hang out in front of the entrance, you would think they would be cleaning or doing something more productive. The mens room always smells like urine. They constantly bill me different dates that I didnt agree on. I also over heard the staff make sexual comments to one another when women pass buy more then once and one occasion it was my daughter.

It amazes me the idiotic response people give one star to this gym bc maybe the gym employees are doing their job by asking you to sign in or one person rubbed you the wrong way that works for the gym... This is a multimillion dollar facility that costs a measly 40 a month come on people.... The cleanliness alone is worth the five stars. Im done.

I was visiting a friend in town who was attending a personal training session for a half hour. The front desk attendant was rude from the moment she opened her mouth. Long story short, she essentially said I wasnt welcome to sit in lobby to wait for him unless I was paying for a $25 day pass. After reading several similar reviews, Im surprised anyone frequents this facility with such lousy customer service representatives. In 22 years of gym memberships, I have never dealt with such attitude. Good luck with business, 24 Fitness.

They sneak an annual membership fee randomly for $50 each person on your account. No other gym does this. Also if you play basketball don’t bother, they rarely have enough to play full court and when you do half of them are “meh” so you get 2 games in and people leave at 8:15 and you’re left standing around bored and wasting your time hoping more people show up. The downtown location is dark on half the court and rarely has enough to run full also. I gave them a chance to refund my $50 and they didn’t so now they’ll lose my $35 a month forever. Great business decision lol. Wife canceled already so they lost both of us. Such potential so much disappointment.

I like the equipment, wish there was a punching bag. Zumba class was really good. I hate the management and employees. Theres no communication, no factual information and only guesses which waste your time and gas multiple times. If its a 24 hr gym how am I not allowed to use my guest pass at 1 am? I signed up my bf to come with me 2nd day, they said he cant come because its too late? Come in the 3rd and last day, get told his ID isnt valid. They couldnt have mentioned ANYTHING the previous 2 days??? Stupid stuff. I dont think its worth the hassle.

Updated 7/5/18The management listened to our complaints and they have changed up the schedule! The classes are now full of variety and awesome! With great classes and the nice cardio and weight equipment, it is the perfect gym combo!I am updating my original review from a year ago. Same complaint though. The gym itself is nice. The equipment and variety of machines is great. It is as clean as a gym can be. If you dont care about classes, this is a great gym choice. If you want classes this is not the best choice because there is no choice. Your choice for classes is either zumba or weight lifting. (aka body pump) There are 16 zumba classes and 8 body pump classes a week. You might find a random piyo or insanity class in there but its tough. Even if you do find a non-zumba class that you like dont get too attached. They go through instructors and classes quickly so one week it is kick boxing, the next it is replaced with Zumba.

Update July 16, 2019 (roughly 8 months since original review).Sadly, Im downgrading my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. Heres why:This gym has gone steadily downhill since it opened. Just bad management. Ive asked 5 times in the last 5 months for them to keep paper towel dispensers full. They routinely run out. Which means equipment doesnt get wiped down by members. And if you dont bring your own towel (few do, including me), then you cant wipe yourself down either. So its a health, cleanliness/sanitation issue. There is probably no simpler task than keeping paper towel dispensers full. And if they cant do the simplest task right, you have to wonder about everything else.Four of the five times Ive said something, its been to a trainer or front desk person...because no manager was on duty! His/her office door was closed, lights off. Incredible that a million dollar facility with dozens and dozens of customers and almost a dozen staff members is operating without a manager on duty at 8:30 in the morning. Its not only paper towels and lack of accountability and supervision (which is a BIG deal). Its also equipment breakdown/lack of maintenance (a few years ago I was a member of Golds Gym - every DAY they had an equipment maintenance person making his rounds - everything worked, all the time, unless it was being worked on).And ultimately, its value. In my original review (below), I was very happy with the value. Not nearly so much anymore. In fact, Id quit tomorrow if there was another gym nearby that had what I need. Im to the point of feeling disgruntled about my $50/month membership fee.Im pretty easy to please. Keep the place clean, equipment operational, necessary items stocked, lights on. I dont need or want anything else. But they cant manage to do even the fundamentals right anymore. Like I said, its sad. Theyre good at taking your money, not so good at upholding their end of the deal.End of updated review. It’s big, mostly clean and well-stocked with equipment. I work out in the mornings and it’s never too crowded. Desk staff greets you at the entrance when you arrive, and wishes you a good day when you leave. Small touch, but appreciated. Floor staff (trainers) have never said a word to me in almost a year. I’m in there 3-5 times a week. I find that strange because every member is a potential client. They have a 4-station olympic lifting platform with plenty of plates. And a 6-station TRX area. Free weight section is very good. I’d like to see them get another power rack, but it’s not a critical need. They have cardio equipment for days. Which is the norm at most large health clubs. The sauna is fantastic. Great way to end a workout. The mens bathroom is large and clean most of the time (need better consistency here). Plenty of lockers.Four issues I’d like to see addressed:1) They need better water pressure in the water fountains. They finally fixed the worst one, so now it’s the best. Hopefully they’ll fix the rest. 2) They make a “team clean” announcement every hour or so, asking staff to re-rack weights, organize and clean up. I’ve never seen staff respond to that call to action. It’s a great idea, but there’s no follow through. 3) Far too many members don’t re-rack their own weights or wipe down equipment when they’re done. This is disrespectful to fellow members. The perps are almost always the younger folks. They’re too busy posting selfies to instagram, i guess. This is primarily the fault of parents, not staff. But I’d like to see the club do more to police this behavior. 4) Keep the bathroom clean, all the time. It’s important.Bottom line: I’ve worked out at dozens and dozens of health clubs over the years. At this price point, this is one of the best. They do the most important things right. So the value is there.
