Real Nice! First time there felt real welcoming. Everyone starts somewhere, and this might be my place to start! Clean, accessible machines and wonderful sauna. 5 Stars for sure. πͺπ½ππΌββοΈ
I had to edit my review and remove a couple of stars. This place is clean, great safe location, staff is friendly but opening the gym on time is a deal breaker. I went on Saturday morning at 8 because I had a full day ahead of me and wanted a workout and sauna to start my day. No one was there to open the gym and other patrons were standing outside waiting for staff. Please get it together. This is what my gym membership pays for so please hold up your end of the bargain. Otherwise, I love this place!
This gym was great for what I needed. I am in the Army, so when I come home to Winston-Salem I usually get a guest pass & go to La Fitness to workout for a day while Iβm in town. In my experience the gym is clean, there is plenty of equipment to use which is great for me and the manager Fiola is very nice, welcoming and professional! I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone I know!
I have been a member at LA fitness for a few months now and itβs by far the best gym in the triad! Being obsessed with fitness, the environment matters so much. The cleanliness, the friendly staff, the quality of the equipment is always perfect. Specifically Ms.Fjola at the front desk who always greets with a smile and consistency available to assist me when I have a question! If youβre considering this location I 100% say you wonβt regret continuing or starting your fitness journey here!
I liked LA fitness but decided to end my membership to join a gym with an Olympic sized pool. Cancelling has been a massive hassle. I went in person twice to end my membership and was told both times that I needed to come back later. After ending by mail and getting a confirmation email I continued to be charged monthly. The Y is about $12 more and has much better facilities and transparent policies. I should have just gone there first.
Just joined today, but so far so good everyone nice and friendly,The General Manager. Giezi. was very helpful nice and professional!
I want to give a shout out about my personal trainer, Talya. As an older woman with various health challenges, she listens to my feedback and has worked with me to strengthen my body and build muscle and stamina. I look forward to my workouts with Talya. She challenges me but waited till my body was ready to go to a higher weight or a more challenging workout. I just love her and LA Fitness is blessed to have her as a personal trainer on their staff.
I am new to the Winston Salem area, I am also older. The staff was beyond helpful, welcoming and kind. Giezi, the general manager made me feel like family. It was a shot in the dark picking a gym to start going to but I am sure glad I picked this one. 10-10
I like this gym. Good number and variety of equipment. Good center area for calisthenics training and stretching. I do wish they had more squat racks and deadlift platforms.
The gym and equipment isnβt the worst Iβve been at/ used. My biggest complaint is directed towards Gieze, one of the managers I believe. He goes out of his way to flirt with every single female that walks through the doors. Iβve talked to several patrons that have mentioned how uncomfortable they are when he is around because he will not let them focus on their workout because he insists on chatting. I feel bad for the women that have no other gym to go to because I would not enjoy having to plan my workouts around times where he is not in the building. Again, I have no real complaints about the facility as a whole, I just wish the staff realized how certain employees make their patrons feel.
Its gym. Clean. Decent staff. Always enough cardio machines. When its busy, there can be a little bit of a wait for all the lifting machines or benches. But thats pretty standard for all gyms.
I recently moved to Winston-Salem, and I was looking for a gym to work out at. When I called LA Fitness, I spoke with a Giezi who works there. He was very patient and understanding and answered all of my questions. We set up an appointment to meet, and he even texted me to keep me updated to respect my time, which I genuinely appreciated. When I stopped by LA Fitness, he was extremely welcoming, kind and authentic at the same time. Ive been to other gyms in different states (I move around), and you sometimes meet people who just want to sell you a gym membership or treat you just like another customer. Giezi was the complete opposite. I was going to check out several different gyms to see what theyre like, but after talking with him, I decided to sign up. He was okay with me checking out other places, and told me I could get a refund in a few days if I changed my mind. However, I decided to stick with LA Fitness because of his service. Ever since, he continues to welcome me and other customers into the gym, which reassured me my experience with him was not a one time thing, but he was consistently genuine and welcoming. The gym is clean, and the equipment also seems brand new. Definitely enjoy the spacious gym and the vibe.I highly encourage you to meet with Giezi if youre trying to find a gym, and if you have ANY questions. Gieizi is a really great human being, and the reactions I see of many members interacting with him genuinely show that.
The sales manager geizi Reyas?? I donβt know but he offered to train me and is not a certificate trainer, he offered to film my workouts and kept staring at me and tried to take the saleFrom someone else, he is constantly leaving with other women or following them around and never actually sailing anything, he made me so uncomfortable and the other manager who is tall and white ignored me when I tried to tell them .. this man keeps harassing women
So glad water aerobics is back on schedule. Not happy the showers are not open. What is the difference in 3 of us using the shower by the pool tonight, back to back (which we did), than being able to be in the shower where you can get undressed and have a real shower?
As a prospective member and current guest, I am impressed by the facility, but VERY disappointed in the lack of mask enforcement. In particular, one of the staff members, I want to say his name is Gieze(pronounced like Jesse?) refuses to wear his mask properly, does not enforce the requirements, is very unprofessional towards female members, spends more time chatting with his rich βbuddyβ that parks his Maserati in the HANDICAP space out front, and basically gives the impression that the place is a glorified frat-house. Itβs a shame because I really would consider a membership otherwise.
Loved the gym and most of the staff members are great. The general manager Giezi is very unprofessional and I will not be coming back as long as he is working there. Heβs known to hit on every female that goes there and apparently multiple complaints have been filed on him and nothing has happened. I have told him no multiple times and he doesnβt get it. I have had to come at 5 am or 8 pm to work out to avoid seeing him which isnβt fair. I should be able to go to the gym and work out when I want to without being harassed.
Its unfortunate that this is the best equipped gym in the area. The communication is extremely poor, though Im constantly emailed to join or return to the gym even though Ive been a member for almost a year. They close early without much notice, unless you happened to be there in the last 2 days (sometimes less) or in todays case, every water fountain is out of order.Another member and myself asked a few employees about this and were told its out of their hands and nothing they could do. Apparently, there isnt an actual manager there to take care of members and problems. She then suggested, to one of the training/membership sales people, that they could notify members so that they could prepare or they could offer members a bottle of water for the inconvenience. Which would be the right thing to do, especially being next door to Walmart. The employee then suggested that we could pay $1.75-$2.00 for a 20oz bottle of water. She then said she didnt want to pay for overpriced faucet water when there should be a source of clean water provided for members. She was then offered a dollar, as if the problem was that she couldnt afford it.As a former retail manager, customer service representative and employee of LA Fitness, I find this to be disrespectful and unfortunately, typical of LA Fitness locations. If another decent gym opens in the area, I suspect that quite a few members, myself included, would leave.
Same gym, same characters, what do you expect?!? Microcosm of highschool with more testosterone and insecurities. Good place to go be around people and ignore them all while giving them your undivided attention.
The gym overall looked good but donβt enforce people wearing masks on cardio equipment or down on floor, didnβt see many people wiping down machines, wonβt go there again, if it werenβt for that I would have joined.
Nice, clean, great machines.
Where should I start? I describe this place as a βjudgement zone.β Rude employees snotty customers. Pay less and get more at planet fitness aka βjudgement free zone.β
Great gymβ¦lots of machines to choose from.
Is the best gym πͺ
I love LA Fitness but the one in Winston Salem NEEDS to me updated.
Great equipment. A bit too busy after 5.
Clean and well ventilated.
Very friendly staff and a very clean facility. Good equipment, a pool AND a basketball court.
Very pleased with the cleanliness.
The facility itself is fine and all that good stuff but the customer service and trainers do not genuinely care about us. They do everything for a check and just want us to spend our money on unnecessary training sessions. Itβs definitely not worth the amount of money you will end up investing overtime.
I called them very nice staff answers to all questions and very helpful. I will be joining them asap! They also offer a great family plan and good prices
On my second membership try after stopping a while, mostly go to swim after a major back injury left me disabled. My main gripe is way the pool is divided into 3 dual lanes only, not everyone wants only to do laps. If the took out one of the dividers then numerous people would be able to mill about. The way they have it now only 6 people can go in which stinks at peak hours.I was there one day with just one other lady, we were both swimming in the outer lanes. I swam to the end then flipped around to do a backstroke to the other side. Halfway across I bashed my head into some knucklehead guy who had jumped into my lane and started swimming without my knowledge ignoring the empty middle lane ?! I stopped and just stood there as he swam past totally ignoring me. I should have made him go into the other lane but chose just to leave and not make an issue about it. Anyway, It would work better if they had two lanes and two boxed shape areas I think, that way more people would be able to swim at peak hours. Plus the staff seem misinformed on numerous things, mainly and conveniently on how to sign up my elderly mom who is supposed to get in for free...but they knew how to swipe my Vi$a. So far Iβm not impressed by this second attempt πΆ
I really liked going to this gym when I lived in the area. Itβs clean, good amenities for the price, and itβs in the middle of winston. It can get βcrowdedβ but thereβs usually always something open in a few minutes and thatβs mainly the weight selection. The only other gym with this many amenities is in Kernersville or the Y so this is really the best one around. The people working there are friendly. I never did the training with them, a friend does and she seems to like it. I never really had anything to complain about that could actively be changed. It was really clean and like I said youβre not going to have that many amenities for that great of a price at a lot of other gyms. They donβt have bumper plates.
This is a nice gym with good hours and all the equipment I need, however dont bother with the free fitness assessment you get when you sign up if you dont want a personal trainer (which I had no intention to get since my friend got screwed in a personal training contract). I was told a trainer would assess my routine and give me advice, but all they did was ask me if I had any questions and said it looked like I knew what I was doing and that was it.
Great fitness center. Super clean. Nice and friendly staff. Family oriented! What more could you want, I say? πVolleyball ππ
Dimitry and Michael were extremely helpful in touring the facility and getting my workout set up. Great job guys. Thanks
The thing I like the most about this gym is the space and what all is offered. Upstairs you have treadmills, stair-climbers, elliptical machines, and downstairs is where the machines, free weights, weight racks, and even an open area for Personal training. The pool is a great break of old fashioned cardio burning of running, and the sauna is great for recovering after working out. When I signed up, I was eligible for a free fitness assessment with a personal trainer. Dimitry was great. I had a hectic schedule and he was always accommodating. During the training, he paid close attention to my form, pushed me during the training, and ran over a quick summary of goals Id had in mind for fitness, wellness, and nutrition (all while laughing and having a good time). While I decided not to add on personal training, I can still tell when someone appreciates their job, and wants whats best for their client (potential client) as well.Im very excited to be a new member here, and look forward to utilizing all that LA Fitness has to offer.
Great place to work out or group fitness classes. Aqua Fit classes are great. Recent issues with consistent classes or it would have been a 5. Bring back Saturday Aqua Fit.BTW facilitates are kept clean. Cleaning crew are superb!
Great Gym
LA Fitness is a great place! I was pleased by the cleanliness of the entire facility, from the main areas to the locker rooms. Staff is friendly and when Iβve gone (from 6-7am) it hasnβt been too crowded. They have a wide variety of equipment available, and a good number of each type of machine. Definitely will be coming on a regular basis now!
They have everything you need for cardio, free weights, classes, basketball, swimming, etc. My biggest complaint with this gym is the squat racks. There are only three, and sometimes in the morning, they are packed the entire time. An additional rack would be awesome. Otherwise, its a standard gym with all the standard gym amenities.
Used a guest pass to swim at pool. Pool water was cloudy and very warm. Felt like I was swimming in a Petri dish. Will not go back.
This gym has turned out to be the typical chain, operated by corporate (down to the AC levels) in California that builds a gym and then doesnt invest in it. It was nice when it opened but now smells, has lost quality workout instructors, has broken equipment that doesnt get fixed, etc. I finally went in to cancel and theres only one person that can cancel your membership who works M-F 9-5 with 1-2 for lunch. You cant do it over the phone or email or even leave her a signed note. You have to mail in your request to headquarters. When you dont have a good product to keep your members, I guess the only option is to make it as hard as humanly possible to cancel.
Nice clean gym. I just joined not long ago. I told them I wasnt a gym person. I just have to learn to do the weighs on my own for strength is all. Like the fact they have a pool because Im more into pool fitness but after checking schedule its 9 or 6 which are bad times for me.
Good
Great gym. One of the best I have been to. They have many classes that accommodate all levels of fitness. The gym is equipped with a pool, 3 racket ball courts, a basketball court, and sauna. They offer help from trainers for a cost and they are very knowledgeable. Overall great gym.
Ive been going for a few years -- mainly because they have a pool and I swim laps. Not a very friendly staff and very high turnover. Manager seems a bit aloof when I have asked questions and concerns. Locker rooms arent usually that clean. But on the plus side, they have a lot of machines good layout and many options such as racquetball court, swimming pool and fitness classes.
I love the aqua aerobics classes. Nice pool dedicated to the classes. Good instructors who observe and correct form. Clean and safe locker rooms and showers. Participants are friendly. Great cardio and strengthening while having a good time
Clean facility with friendly staff, good quantity of machines and free weights. Basketball, and racket ball courts. A cycling room. A lap pool where water aerobics/ exercise classes happen. One of the best facilities I have seen for novice thru expert health conscious persons.
I like the classes they offer. The pool, sauna and top tub are another bonus.
Brandon was the Guy who signed me and my wife up a made everything very clear there is no hidden anything and the kids club theres what my son wanted to go to instead of YMCA and everything seems good the weights and everything arose put in a place its not too busy parking isnt that big of an issue and right next door is a good clean eating spot called clean eats
There is a old man that works as a trainer there named Muhaiminu Thomas. Stay away. He doesnt know what he is doing.
They do not have trial passes. I paid for a visitors pass and I am glad I did. The front desk guy was not rude, but certainly was not friendly or helpful. I have been to multiple LA fitnesses throughout FL and PA. This one is a disservice to the name. The equipment is limited in comparison to most of their gyms and they really have NO where to dead lift or snatch Go somewhere else if you want to actually go to the gym...This gym is the new planet fitness...if you seen the memes you know what I mean
A full gym with pool, jacuzzi and sauna. They also have racquetball and basketball courts. Of course, they have everything else you would expect: weights, machines, classes and trainers. They are priced very reasonably given all they offer.
Nice gym to work out at, BUT stay clear of the personal training. Stuck in an expensive contract. Promises were made but not kept. Hassles all around. Trainers are flaky. Management is not receptive or sympathetic. If I had it to do all over again, I surely wouldnt. Turnover is high. New fitness manager assigned me another trainer after my trainer left abruptly...giving this a shot as I dont really have a choice and will update this post accordingly.
Nice Gym but Major Pain if you cancel. Only the Manager can cancel. She is never there. Complete BS policy. Unprofessional and out of touch. Join another gym
This place is very clean and comfortable to exercise. With the inside daycare is very convenient for family members. So far I havent have any trouble.
I came to L.A. fitness as a guest with my co-worker in order to, you guessed it, workout. Unfortunately, there was no warm welcome. Instead of providing a welcoming experience, I was asked to wait for about 5 minutes to get a manager. When he was available, he asked me to follow him to his desk. I was asked what I deem inappropriate questions such as where do you work? and how many times a week I workout, whether or not I had a membership elsewhere. This was before even stepping foot onto the weight room. After this I stated I already have a gym membership elsewhere, and that since I hadnt worked out yet, I didnt know if the gym would have all the equipment I needed. This was met with an even more questionable reaction by laughing at my comments. I was then asked what would it take for you to make the switch here?. I once again stated that I didnt know since I hadnt even gotten to workout. I was finally told looks like youre just here to hang out for a bit then and was told to go ahead. I was baffled by how dismissive a manager can be of a potential customer.Onto my actual workout experience, this gym did not have enough machines for their clientele in their weight room. There are 3 benches, unfortunately they dont have weights on the machine itself. Instead, you have to walk to the nearest rack to add weight plates. This is annoying when working with a buddy and having to travel back and forth. There are 3 squat racks, but only 1 with a platform around it. Therefore, if youre attempting to deadlift, you might not have a great amount of options, unless you want to risk damaging the gyms floors since there are no bumper plates available.I was there to workout, and was considering joining, however due to the very unwelcoming treatment I experienced, I will keep my current membership at Golds Gym instead. I would advice management to revisit sales approach, or attempt to change policies regarding guests, as currently it is costing potential business.TL;DR: Would not recommend if you want to lift weights, staff is surprisingly unwelcoming.
I am honestly very disappointed in this place. I had signed up and got the free trainers consultation. I went and it was very informative. But then I got peer pressured into buying the training program. I told them Iβm a single mom and I donβt really have the money or the time. And I think the manager could tell I was feeling pressured so he offered me a 30 day trial to see if I liked it. I finally just said fine and did it. I used it maybe twice like I knew I would and so I told them I wanted to cancel. Was told I would get an email to fill out paperwork to cancel it. Days went by and I didnβt receive anything but a phone call saying my card was declined. Which made no sense since I had already paid my monthly payment. So then I knew it was my training plan which I told them I wanted to cancel. So then I call them and ask whatβs going on. The lady said she had no idea and didnβt see anything there. I told her also that Iβve been trying to cancel and no one was helping me. She said she will dig into it and call me back in a couple days. A WEEK goes by. I hear NOTHING. I then go into the facility on Wednesday. Tell them everything and that I just want it cancel and refunded like I was promised. At first I was told they donβt do that and they have no idea what I was talking about. Usually itβs only 3 days. I was so mad! Then the manager says no sheβs right I was there. Was said itβs a difficult process to cancel because no one cancels. So they would need the upper management to cancel it for me. And I asked about my refund. They said once they get him in they can do it. And theyβll call me Friday. Itβs been 2 WEEKS and Iβve heard once again NOTHING. Iβve come to the point where Iβve been scammed out of my money that I didnβt want to spend in the first place that couldβve helped me out with my son. So if youβve read all this. In my opinion. DO NOT BUY THE TRAINING PROGRAM. Iβm so very disappointed in LA Fitness.
The equipment is in good condition. LA Fitness has a fairly large selection of equipment, but are missing some of the more unusual things such as a weight cart or climbing rope. The only problem I have run into with the facility is repair time. Equipment that breaks stays down for weeks at a time. The same is true for the lockers and facilities.
Do not bother with this place- you can do better.
Love the place. Clean and very modern facility. Updated machines. So convenient, just in and out facility. Great for me and my family!
This gym has a strong selection of equipment, friendly staff, and good hours. It can be overly crowded on weekdays 5-7, especially in the free weights area, but they have multiples of the most popular machines. It is fairy well maintained, but can be dirty when busy. Trainers are knowledgable and supportive.Patrons here do not tend to carry towels or wipe down machines consistently. The crowd is mostly 20-30 year-olds in good condition. There is a mix of serious weight lifters and casual people chatting and looking at their cell phones. The mens locker room can be crowded, especially in the morning.Does not offer locker rental. Has a small lap pool and sauna area.
Nice staff, good machines, clean...However they really shouldnβt advertise having WiFi when it seldom ever actually works. Wish Iβd known this before joining.
Huge place with great weight room. The newness of this place hasnt worn off yet.
Great gym. Spacious and quality equipment. Staff is great!
Great gym with clean working equipment. Low monthly fees and access to other LA fitness gyms across the US. They just added WiFi so now its even better to listen to music without hogging up my cell phone data. Pool, basketball courts, fitness classes... what more do you need? One complaint... it can get very crowded after work.
Silver sneakers accpted an they have a perfect place for water walking aerobics or swimming. Very clean.
Everything is here including awesome staff (hey there Edward!).
One of the fitness trainers name Zee shes amazing and you do receive results.
Clean facilities, nice staff. A huge plus for me is the kids club. I can take my son there while I work out.
Basically a meat market meant for 20 somethings.. I wanted to start swimming but the pool is tiny and surrounded by windows. When I came in on guest pass, I wasnt shown around the place.. The dude pointed to stuff and quickly blew me off. Ymca here I come!
Great gym it is not to crowded and there are a lot of extra machines the locker rooms are nice and its just the right place for gym rats and gym pixies
Best gym in the neighborhood. Something for everyone! They even have daycare from 9-12pm and 4-8pm. It seems like everyone I work with is a member. Tons of amenities like sauna, swimming pool, racquet ball, cycling, Zumba classes and others. The price is economical and they even have a basketball court. Im in love π. If youβre not sure where to start in reshaping your body......they got you! Personal trainers at your disposal.
They tried to charge my account for an extra month even though I had canceled my membership. They never even called to apologize or anything. I was able to block them. I talked to the teller at my bank and she said there is something wrong with a business if they try to charge you multiple times a day for 30$. Then I called there and they lied and said that corporate handles all the billing even though Ive heard them call people at the front desk asking about that months payment. Do not get a membership here! Its a scam. Theyll try to get you hooked on a personal training program that you cant refund if the trainer leaves or you dont like the service.
Reached out to the closest LA Fitness office to get help with a customer service billing issue; sales rep answered the phone and put me on hold to get a customer service rep to assist me. When he returned he informed me that he had no idea how to get customer service on the phone and told me he would have someone call me back. After not getting calls back previously for the same issue from LA Fitness through their main customer service line I decided to stop trying.
Paid a lot for personal trainer put a lot on the papers I singed that they had to offer got a print out on a list of eating chicken tuna and potato βnutrition planβ Thatβs about all you pay for
Enjoy coming to this gym. It can be overcrowded at times but overall pretty good
Clean and has well maintained equipment
Updated gym with plenty of amenities such as a pool, hot tub, sauna and basket ball court
Good equipment, not too many gym rats. Crowded after 6 pm of course, but, usually not bad
Good choice of machines and classes. Some classes get crowded and need to be reserved through the app that doesnt always work. Big number of cardio machines available
Love LA fitness HOWEVER there are many times in which it is not open in the morning on time which ruins my day. I get there at 5 am and wait till 5:30 am and it still has not opened.
I just took a body works class (8:30am- Douglasville GA) and I left because the instructor embarrassed me in class because I did a modification for walking lunges. I broke my ankle (in three places) last year and its a miracle that I can even take a class. I just got back into working out and to have an instructor do this was disheartening. Ive never ever had any instructor do this. This is very unprofessional, and I will never go back to her class. Please teach your instructors to be mindful of people that are unable to do certain workouts and not call them out in class.
New and well equipped gym with weights, cardio, racquetball courts, pool, sauna, hot tub, etc. My wife and I got a combined membership for about $50/mo (I forget the exact price).
Great facilities, excellent trainers. Everything you need including a great sauna.
It has everything you would need in a gym and it doesnt seem overcrowded it gives the space you would need.
Great place, nice equipment, clean, massage table is a Dream Come True and Staff is Wonderful!!!
Clean and well-maintained. Very easy to get in and out for a quick workout.
Very clean, well kept, plenty of equipment, plenty of workout classes, friendly environment, and a great membership price.
I think its great it just needs a steam room
I loved it
Dont bother with the Personal Training at LA Fitness in Winston-Salem. The trainers come and go so frequently that there is no continuity. My wife and I had been working with a particular personal trainer and he was recently promoted to Master Trainer and we can no longer work out with him unless we want to PAY MORE!?!? We are already paying $360.00 per month and now they want more money from us. We asked for another trainer that we had used and they said - sorry, he got promoted too! We discussed this with the manager who said that there is nothing he can do. The idea that the managers are managing anything is a joke. They just say that this is βup to corporateβ. We have been there since November of 2015 and they wouldnβt grandfather us in with the trainers we had been using for the last 8 months!?. If you are looking for a Personal Trainer - DONT BOTHER with LA Fitness! Its like trying to order a filet mignon at McDonalds ---- you are at the wrong place!
Very clean. Employees are awesome.
I watch the fight almost break out in the freeway area over the incline bench because they only have one here for the entire gym I travel the United States and have been to many LA fitnesses and this is the first place Ive seen with only one incline bench for the entire gym and on my first visit I lost a fight almost break out over who was actually going to be able to use it next
Most unhygienic bathrooms in the continental US. Smells like Katrina in there. They hang car air fresheners in the stalls. Also they close down when rain is in the forecast. Winston needs a lifetime fitness.
Clean And good selection
Great atmosphere and variety of classes and great location!
Love the atmosphere. Awesome trainers
When are you guys going to get wi-fi? You might be the last company in America not providing it as a service to its customers. Every gym Ive been a member of in the past 7 years has had wi-fi. Thanks for your consideration.
Great facility and staff is wonderful
