Rented a car, with our debit card as per Dave Ramsey/dollar rent a car. The staff (at 1;00 am) never heard of Ramsey. But none the less the process both of rental and return was smooth. Will use again in the future.

When I was walking to pick up the car I was assigned a worker got in it and drove it off with no explanation. When I finally got a car the next day I started getting alerts for an oil change and service required for the transmission (transmission was having obvious problems) and parking brake. Not to mention hidden fees and the way they siphon off more money from you if you dare bring it back with less than a full tank, itll be $10 a gallon for them to do it.

Horrible rental service. They have hidden fees and charges. Their cars have scratches and dents and try to put them on you. I was told an amount for a rental 3 times by the representative. When I get my bill, totally different amount. When I call customer service they pretty much told me it is what it is. When I asked for a supervisor, I was put on hold for 30 minutes just for the representative to come back on the line and tell me that one isnt available, and one will call back within 48 hours. Smh. Unbelievable. Never again!!! Stay away from Dollar!!

Me and my family rented a car to get from Bradley International airport to Boston Logan airport. Upon arrival at Bradley, they did not have a car readily available that fit all 6 of us like we thought. They did find a car last minute and we had no choice but to take it if we wanted to get home to Boston safely. When we all got into the car, we smelled marijuana masked with perfume. Because we were all tired and in a rush to get back before our reservation time was over, we had to continue on the road. We were charged $400 for a smoking fee that was NOT us. Our family doesn’t smoke. The company was not helpful over the phone and the supervisor had such a nonchalant tone because the blame is still put on us for something we did not do. It is not our fault that we were in a rush to get to Boston and did not have time to go back to the representative who gave us the vehicle. The company should fully inspect every vehicle themselves right before rental and not leave it up to the renters. This is unacceptable and the rest of my family will be submitting a claim. If this is not handled properly and accordingly, we will take matters into our own hands. These are false accusations and defamation. Again, drug testing will show that we’re not lying. How are we going to get out of customs from international with weed in our possession? Makes no sense. Wish I can give negative stars.

Never go here. Literally the worst experience I have had renting a car. I rent pretty often not only did this place not have the car we booked they were extremely rude with handling my license situation. It is technically expired but since I am military allows me to still drive which caused much confusion on them. And they would not let me pay the taxes upfront and charge a ridiculous 500 dollar deposit which is not advertised anywhere.

The person who received the car today with hat and glasses at 11 AM, I think he or someone from the team there stole my iPad, %100 sure it was taken, it was in the side of the back seat, I came back after 10 minutes of delivering the car to the guy with hat and glasses and I asked him that I need to see the car because I forgot my laptop and he was so rude and disrespectful in his response to me just by asking him a question which is very weird and a flag for me.Positive:The manager was kind and he helped me with my return to solve a mistake was done by their team for Orlando location. The representative from Orlando was kind and helpful and he treated us very well and give us a good offer.

When i rented a car here they said the car comes with a ezpass type reader. They totally misrepresented themselves. They bill you $15.00 every time you go through a toll plus the toll cost. So a $1.75 toll becomes $16.75. This has become the most expensive rental ever. This is a terrible practice that Dollar is doing. I suggest you go elsewhere or be aware of the scam.

We recently visited MA for a family wedding and rented a minivan from Dollar via Orbitz. When we booked the Rental on Orbitz, we paid in full. Upon arrival at Dollar which is merging with Hertz, during the processing of the car we were asked for the Driver’s License for the driver as well as the card used at booking (thinking this is routine). 2 days into our trip, we woke up to a completely flat tire. We contacted CS and 4 hours later, was sent a tow truck to pick up the car and 30 minutes later a LYFT was sent for us to go back to Dollar @ Bradley International to replace the car. While there, the lady that did the initial processing, never made eye contact while Veronica who was our new agent constantly apologized for our experience. We dropped off the car a day later and noticed we were charged by Dollar. So we were charged by Orbitz and when that lady asked for our card, charged again! This place is a joke and have us now wasting time disputing charges…. Where is the 0 for this place of business??? I guess the star is for Veronica who tried to rectify things

The worst experience i have ever encountered with any company. Me and my family got falsely accused of smoking within the vehicle when the vehicle already had a smell to it. The fact that they gave me and my family a vehicle like that without cleaning it beforehand shows me that i got scammed. They charge me $400 extra and upon disputing they claim that once the vehicle has been returned they cant do nothing about it. I will never use this company again as they scam people out of their money and this location seems to be very sketchy anyways. Please use another company so you dont go through the hassle me and my family are going to get our money back. They dont value customers they value our money.

How would it be possible to leave a zero star review, as this location merits that?Rude service, being saddled with a vehicle that was not what I booked (and at 11 p.m. being told that if I didnt like it I could go somewhere else. Where at 11 p.m. with all my luggage at a location not at the airport could I go?) I took the vehicle and drove to my hotel. Imagine my consternation the next morning actually seeing the inside and outside of the vehicle. It looked like someone had taken it off road. Mud caked everywhere, and tracked inside. Vehicle was filthy. No attempt to make customer ready, and a big glob of something that I can only hope was just ketchup on the steering wheel. I was forced to go out of my way back to the rental location, wait again in line and get another vehicle. I was late for my meeting as a result. Reached out to customer service three times and they did not bother to even extend the courtesy of responding.

A joke! The car smelled like mold and cigarettes, we get 40 minutes down the highway and the transmission blew!!! Could have killed us, the car broke down. Then the customer service continued to redirect our call to someone else who we would be on hold for 30 minutes to talk with; only to get redirected again! Outraged. They are not offering any remorse, only that we find our way back an hour long drive to get another car from the rental location

I have a car reserved for the week. I called throughout the day today to communicate that because of a flight delay, Id pick the car up tomorrow. No one picks up the phone, the voicemail box is full, and the automated message encourages you to visit the website to communicate any changes. The website has you type in your confirmation number, then tells you it cant process your request. To summarize, all routes to customer service are dead ends.

I booked a car through Priceline and I paid for it.I went to pick up my car at Orlando international airport and the dollar representative there told me that I had to give them a $300 deposit on my credit card and it would be returned when I returned the car.So I returned the car it was nothing wrong with it the fuel tank was full and Dollar rental car said I signed up for their insurance which is a total lie. Anyway Dollar rental car beat me for $350 be very careful renting cars from them.

Waited in line with only one employee and a waiting line of no less than 12 at any time. After renting through Expedia with Dollar, they tried to charge us twice, then denied refund! Needed Expedia to get results. Also, directed us to our rental car, but there was no such car! Had to get another one.Avoid this business at all costs!!!

Stay away if you dont want to be ripped off! It was my first rental with Dollar and it will be my last! The car was sticky and dirty. I picked up the vehicle late at night and I could not find anyone to talk to once I got to the car. The other thing was tolls!!! They charge $59 dollars for processing fees for a $5.00 toll. Im sorry to have rented from them. I will be going somewhere else even if it costs me more up-front.

Rented a Tahoe thru Hotwire. When I got to the Dollar rental place at the Vegas airport they told me the Tahoe would be an upgrade and theyll give it to me for an extra $50/day. I showed them proof of my online rental agreement stating Chevy Tahoe, but they told me I would have to take it up with Hotwire.I think it would be their responsibility to take it up with Hotwire - they are allowing Hotwire to book their vehicles at very low prices and then doing the bait and switch tactic.My guess is they are using this tactic to rent their vehicles - I overheard several conversations like my own. The line for Dollar was also about 60 people long vs the other rental companies with one or two people in line.I will never use Dollar rental again.

Rented a car through their website and when we went to pick it up the process was easy and fast! The staff is friendly and helpful. Only reason I’m not giving them five stars is because I had to call several times in order for someone to pick up. Other than that the rental was great and dropping it off was just as easy. The shuttle bus drivers are also kind and helpful.

Deposit was more than car rental it’s self $500 deposit and we used a credit card not a debit. Then when we got to the spot to get our car they didn’t have any cars available we had to wait for them to bring cats from another location! I’ll never rent from them again simple.

Cancelled right after i booked and coundntt talk to a person. I have rentals for that week with exotic rentals for 800 plus a day. Tried to make sure they would have the mustang in stock and not boned when we arrive. I Reserved a large SUV online, called twice before pick up day to confirm reservation and was assured of the availability of the vehicle. On the pick up day no large SUV were available I had to settle for a smaller one.I returned the car in the evening and in the morning I realized that I forgot my very expensive glasses in the car, so I called customer service as I was heading to where I dropped the car the night before, they said someone already rented the car and I asked if they found my glass when they cleaned the car he said they didn’t find anything in it. I don’t recommend this company to anyone.

My wife booked a car through the website. Because she has booked with a debit card before and was able to get the car, she had no idea that she would need a credit card once we got there. In fact, we made the reservation using the debit car. Of course, that left us stranded once we got there. So the first complaint comes from the fact that the website allows you to purchase the rental with a debit card, but then does not accept it once you show up. Disable that ability and you will avoid confusion. And we know its not just us because a driver told us that it happens about once a week and nobody does anything to fix the constant problem.To be fair, there was something in small print or the confirmation email that specifically says to bring a credit card, I will give them that. But then I tried to call to cancel the car and maybe get some of our money back (after all, it would be a free car for someone to use and reserve, and Im fully okay with a late cancellation fee). Nobody in corporate or customer service works on weekends. There isnt even a cancellation option in the website. So we had to pay full price for a car we didnt use. I even put in a request as soon as it happened, but of course they offered no sort of refund.

This Dollar / Thrifty location was very nice. Staff were helpful and even arranged a shuttle to my hotel for me after drop off. The car was ok except it was not equipped with cruise control or backup camera. I had reserved a mid-size from Thrifty and was surprised the Elantra lacked these basic features.

Omar works at the Thrifty counter and was so nice when I arrived 45 minutes late due to a weather delay. It was 1:45 am and he had the car pulled around to the front, had cleaned off the snow, and had it warmed up—engine on and heater blasting. He was friendly too! I always get great service at the BDL Dollar/Thrifty location. Omar’s service was above and beyond!

The man at the office was very helpful. The driver from the airport to the rental facility was equally as helpful! As a young woman by myself I was nervous, but everyone was respectful and made me feel very comfortable. I had no issues and the car was spotless and brand new! I had a weird experience where I rented the car on a different website, but they didnt use my reservation from that website, and I didnt pick up on it until I brought the car back. I wasnt impressed with the way this was handled, but the people at the website were amazing.Also, for some reason the address isnt listed on the Google maps entry. Its 580 Spring St, Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Tried editing the address on the Google maps entry, but it didnt give an option to add the address. Hopefully the business owners pick up on this and update the entry.

They have very nice, and polite workers there, the cars are amazing, and they give you no headache, they make sure the cars are thoroughly cleaned, so they are spotless for the next user. There is really no waiting for you to get your rental. The shuttle is very convenient, and it is fast. It is a very short drive because how close it is to the airport. I would recommend it to anyone, who needs a car rental place.

Very Deceptive checkout practices!! I had already bought and paid for the car rental ahead of time thru Hotwire.com. At checkout, the counter agent simply asked if I wanted the insurance rider, whether standard or premium. Not even mentioning that None was an option. Then when I go to check the car back, I was just expecting to pay for local taxes and fees, but they wanted to charge an extra $200 dollars! I basically had to stand there and make a total scene and hold up the shuttle bus until they removed the charges I never wanted. Oh, I also hated the car! I rented Chevy Impala, now I realize why I never have and never will own a GM car!

Be aware, this particular location does not come out to inspect the car with you. Husband asked her to come out for inspection and she said we dont do that anymore. There was a crack in the windshield that was hidden by the inspection sticker. When we returned the car, they charged us $155 for the windshield. Funny thing is they honed in on that exact spot as soon as we got back, like they were expecting it to be cracked. AND DO NOT under any circumstances pull the lever on the toll transponder, it will activate it for the daily rate. Even if you dont go over a toll road. We just got a bill for $47, 2 weeks after our rental was returned. I will never recommend this company to anyone. The car was filthy and covered with bugs, there was only one employee working on a Tuesday morning, the selection was low and we had plans and couldnt waste any more time. It cost us $567 for a $365 prepaid rental.

I couldnt be more happy with this location. I have been back and forth to Connecticut 5 times in the last 3 months and every time I have used Thrifty. Great prices, great people and great cars. My last time there my flight landed at 1230am and was worried they would be closed. They had the shuttle waiting for me and left as soon as I stepped on!!!!! Excellent customer service!! The car was great. No problems there. And the service was even better! I had booked a hotel room near the airport so I could fly out in the morning without any problems. I have rented at this location a dozen times and I love it! It’s casual amd just what I need after a long flight. Everyone is friendly, the cars are average, but always clean and working, and the technician always helps me connect my blue tooth. Super patient and nice from the shuttle driver to management. Shuttle bus took about 10 minutes to arrive at the airport. Arrived at the counter to a line about 10 people deep that almost entirely filled the waiting area. Took 17 minutes to get to the counter. Staff was very friendly and apologetic, which is what saved the experience. As with all rental car agencies, I always recommend taking pictures of your car before you leave the lot and when you return to protect yourself. My car had lots of scratches and dings that werent noted.

It was very late at night once the flight got in The young man was polite n very friendly. However the car was newer n I wasnt shown even how to turn the headlights on. Once I went after him to help me he was helpful. I would rent from them again. They need to give an overview of new cars.. LOL. Not all of us have one at home.

ZERO STAR If I can. I reserved a car through Expedia. When I pick up the car, the Thrifty agent asked for my credit card and drivers license.Two days after I returned the car, there is a 30.74$charge on my bill. I called the costumer service and they told me that it is for the fuel purchase option. The agent never asked me about if I need this service when I picked up the car.The customer service told me I signed the rental agreement with fuel purses option. To be honest, I can not remember if I signed anything on a E-signature device or not. But I clearly remember I never sign on a hard copy of the rental agreement. I have no chance to review the rental agreement. The agent told me that the rental agreement is paperless and will be send to my email which I never received until I called the customer service about the 30.74$ charge.1. Add fuel purchase option without asking me.2. When I sign on the E-signature device, agent did not tell me that is for the rental agreement. IF I did sign on it. (I cant remember clearly if I sign or not. Someone ask for you credit card for deposit and ask you sign on the device.That is usually for the credit card authorization, right?).3. Agent told me rental agreement is paperless and will be send to my email. I never receive the agreement until I found the 30.74$ charge and ask the agreement from the customer service.***UPDATESince I book the car rental through Expedia and pay the rental and insurance through Expedia when I made the reservation. I did not expect any further service except I chose on Expedia. I think the business is all about me and Expedia and that is why I did not even pay too much attention when I did not receive the agreement through Email. They are trying to dig every penny from you.

Dont get sucked in by the cheap rates advertised online. Once you get there, they start adding charges. And after you return the car and leave, they still add additional charges. While driving through New England, we purposely avoided all toll roads and saw some great towns because of it. After about a month after the car is returned, we are charged for a toll that we never crossed (the toll plus a $15 processing fee). And they offer no proof that the car ever passed through a toll. Very shady indeed.

After arriving during mid-day on a Saturday, my wife and I waited nearly an hour in line while one person was working the computer. It was not that they were under-staffed, other employees came and went, some would stand behind the sole woman working the counter and watched her work. I came to find out that these employees were indeed trained to work their system but for some reason decided to ignore the lengthening line.Upon finally getting up to the counter, the woman tried to add $500 worth of insurance to the bill, which l asked them to remove and I assume they did. I suppose that is my fault for agreeing to the extra insurance.Another problem was with the car itself, I had reserved a compact. Thrifty gave us a Chevrolet Spark, which is, according to Wikipedia, a member of the smallest of the subcompact size. The woman working the counter insisted that this was a compact and would not give us the larger vehicle.Frustrated and angry we left the counter only to arrive at the car and discover that the tire pressure monitoring system was reading a low tire resulting in yet more time wasted at the counter and further delaying us.Do not rent through them. They do not have their act together and during our time waiting in line had time to hear multiple complaints from other patrons. Dont make the same mistake we did, rent from a different company.

Dollar has a policy of charging $15 adminstrative fees for each individual toll charge accrued during your rental period. Therefore, on a recent trip where I unknowingly found myself on a highway (which was the only reasonable route to my destination) where there were camera tolls but no physical toll booths available to pay with cash, I received a bill in the mail (which arrived over a month after the listed notice date and just two days before the due date) charging me a total of $31.60 for an original toll value of $1.60. I recommend avoiding Dollar Rent a Car if possible.

Tried to speak with anyone local while waiting for a shuttle, couldnt get connected. The corporate office person had such a thick Philadelphia accent that she was impossible to understand. The van, which came after 2-3 of the other vans already passed was staffed by a nice guy, but the loud old time music that was blaring in the van was very annoying.Good thing though is that they were the cheapest car rental.

A little quirky if you are trying to drop off a car, and get a rental. Parking for your vehicle is offsite. They are happy to shuttle you to the offsite parking. Odd since they have plenty of space at the rental facility itself. Otherwise, the cars I have rented for long trips have been good. Good counter and shuttle driver service.

I have been renting from Thrifty for years and am a member of their Blue Chip Program but they never, ever have the car I reserve and they want to upgrade me to a car that uses more gas. I just rented from them in April 2016 and I had to wait an hour while they found me a compact . Even my Blue Chip profile states that I want a compact. If I wasnt a member of Blue Chip, Id rent from someone else.Jeffrey (at the counter) was very patient with me and was wonderful.

Do not rent here! This place will try to scam you. I got a Tollway charge in the mail 2 weeks later saying that I used a toll in New Jersey. Odd since I never left the state of Connecticut and I didnt receive any other Toll charges except that one. How did I get to New Jersey without driving on any toll ways? Stay away from this scam place!When I tried to send in a charge dispute, the online form said I could not submit at this time.

I left my daily planner under the driver seat of my rental car. There is no way to get in contact with this particular location. You have to call the general customer service 800 number and they tell me they do not even know if this location is open today or closed possibly due to weather. It was recommended that I drive there to find out!!! When I asked for the name of the customer service representative she hung up on me. The WORST rental car company Ive ever encountered!! I waited for 35 minutes for their shuttle that NEVER came to pick me up from the airport. The ENTERPRISE driver took pity on me and brought me to Thrifty. No way to contact them, automatically sent to a call center in India. Now on my return flight, they are CLOSED!! I have to wait until they open at 5am. NEVER AGAIN! Also, they had no card to choose from. They literally had one mid size SUV, thats it!

This was a Terrible Experience. Initially, I was a customer willing to pay and use this rental service. Terry was rude and unprofessional. She didnt even say hi when I said hi. I asked her how is she doing and she said Dollar or Thrifty? I asked for pricing and an explanation of charges and she wouldnt give me the details. Then she swiped my card and claimed it wasnt working, even though I used it about 5 minutes prior. When I had to use a different card, she swiped the card without telling me charge. My bank contacted me with a fraud alert. I showed respect to her and others but I do admit that I was VERY dissapointed and I was treated poorly.Even when I asked for a particular rental she claimed that they didnt have the keys. There are so many other bad aspects that are affecting my life that I am not able to include all of it now. I respectfully left and told them to take care and have a good weekend. I told her to cancel the reservation. Then I find out through Travelocity that she didnt cancel it and in the system it stated that I had the vehicle so Travelocity had to tell them to cancel it.I do not plan on giving my business to them if possible. I am going to use a different rental service to make this urgent trip this weekend I hope that no one else has such a frustrating experience.Sincerely.

Was told I accepted and paid to have tolls covered. One month later got $44 dollar bill stating I didnt accept. GPS was garbage and lost signal constantly. Avoid this place like the plague. By the time all the upsell and fees are done you are better fit renting from a more established place.

Awful. Similar experience to other reviews. To have the shuttle driver zoom off after making eye contact with us just moments after returning our car and walking toward him was infuriating. Inexcusably bad customer service.

Customer Service sucked had reservation for the wild card. Agent and office atmosphere was not welcoming light where off and just uncomfortable vibes. Agent didnt communicate well with, didnt ask us if we needed the Ez- pass which we did and didnt give us the option about the car. So agent had to call the credit card company for authorization twice, claimed it was and update to the system.Agent ended up giving us a Toyota Yaris super small, had an attitude when we asked her what is this.Cancel reservation with them and went to another rental cat company. Less than 5 minutes with the other rental car company we were driving away..

Absolutely appalling. The worst customer service of my life. On drop off desk person would only speak to my husband, total misogynist. Then on return I was accused of not paying even though I had my Amex proof. I was also told there was no escalation process, no phone number to call, no text allowed and no email address. My car was held hostage so I double paid and had to have Amex reverse the charges. I also had an empty tank of gas that was not empty when I dropped it off. I would not leave a car here again for any reason. Ever. They are cheap and you get what you pay for. Nothing but a horror show.

We signed up for a corporate account for our business and the airport locations refuse to honor the contract. Phone calls were made to correct the charges and could not ever get connected to the correct department and multiple times we were hung up on. Sent email and fax to corporate and never got a response either. Nightmare!!!!!!! Bad business practices and shady customer service reps. Never again. Signed up with Avis and has been a wonderful experience. Dollar never again.

Never again. Was told in person at counter they would be open at 4:30 do I could return my car and make a 6:00am flight. They were closed when I got there and didnt open until 5:00. Pick up from the airport was atrocious. After watching 5-6 each Hertz, Enterprise, and Avis shuttles passed us by at the airport after waiting about twenty minutes curb side, a shuttle finally pulled up. Apparently they only run one.

I received almost a brand new Corolla ... Everything went smoothly without incidents ..Only 2 issues : The Easy Pass ( I think didn´t work at GWB )When returning the car at JFK very early 4 am, we had to wait around 20 minutes with the cold outside to see somebody to deliver the car .Otherwise, everything as expected .Will rent a car again with DOLLAR
