Very impressed by how absolutely predatory a rental car agency can be!Budget has insider knowledge of how to pump 10.5 extra gallons into a tank I returned completely full. The world absolutely needs to know this trick!In all honesty, whatever fuel service you choose when renting with them, just know they will pull some magic trick out of their sleeve to squeeze an extra $ out of your pocket.If $150 is a meaningful amount of money to you as it is to me...I recommend literally any other option. A waste of time and money that I can never get back because they will never answer your calls.
The rental car qwas extremely dirty. There was hair all over the inside, something spilled in the cup holder and the car looked like it hadnt been wiped down or sanitized at all.
I WAS VERY DISSAPPOINTED TO FIND THAT THE AGENT LIED TO ME REGARDING THE FUEL COSTS. SHE SAID THAT THE PRICE WAS THE SAME NO MATTER IF I RECEIVED THE FUEL IN TOWN OR AT BUDGET, SO I AGREED TO HAVE THE TANK FILLED AT BUDGET. WHEN I GOT TO TOWN, I SAW THAT THE GAS WAS OVER $1.00 LESS EXPENSIVE IN TOWN. I FEEL THAT I WAS LIED TO IN ORDER FOR HER TO MAKE A BETTER COMMISSION OR WHATEVER. I DIDNT APPRECIATE BEING LIED TO. ALSO, I WAS CHARGED FOR A TOTALLY FULL TANK WHICH MEANS ABOUT 17 OR 18 GALLONS OF GAS AND YOU KNOW DARN WELL THAT THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE WOULD DRAIN ALL THE GAS OUT OF THE TANK. IM A SENIOR CITIZEN ON A FIXED INCOME AND REALLY COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT MUCH FOR THE GAS, BESIDES WHAT YOU CHARGED FOR THE CAR. THE LAST TIME I RENTED A CAR, I PAID LESS THAN $50/DAY AND THIS TIME I PAID OVER $100/DAY. THAT WAS HORRIBLE. IM VERY DISSAPPOINTED WITH YOUR COMPANY.
Our flight was delayed and we did not arrive until 2AM. i had read that the rental office closes at 1 and was worried about how to get our car and how we were going to get to our hotel. The staff waited for us and got us into our car and on the way. they were very helpful and i was very appreciative.
When I returned the vehicle, they tried to charge me $990 over the amount on my reservation agreement(originally $598 for a 5 day rental). It said it was for time and mileage however my rental had unlimited miles. It took 15 minutes to get corrected and ultimately I was charged $300 in hidden fees that were not included in my reservation agreement. I ended up paying $1000 for a rental that originally said it would be around $600. The car was pleasant to drive but I am in no way happy with the overall transaction!
We were given a dirty car, the tires were mismatched, 2 ok, two with wear threads. We could get no satisfaction at the local branches. We had to make an unplanned trip back to the airport to get a different car.
Wanted to extend a rental for 1 wk. Cost too high, over 2 times original cost of the 1st week, so I returned & rented again.Vehicle was not washed they did wash it but when I opened back seat used water bottles and only a 1/4 tank of gasTina at the desk came out and gave me another Vehicle. It was washed cleaned out and a full tank of gas. Inside of windows dirty as well as the sideview mirrors. I decided to just get on my way. If it wasnt for Tina at the desk the star rating would be 0.
I was asked to wait for the car. The staff person took 15 to bring it out. He drove it up, got out with a rude attitude, and kept walking, ignoring my question about moving the seat. The car was dirty inside (had foot marks on the passenger windshield). The extremely unfriendly attitude prevailed upon returning the car.
So according to online we were all done take shuttle to your facility then see a huge line. Find out there is no preferred check in and we have to wait. Staff was not helpful and if you asked anything basically got told to shut up and stay in line until its your turn. We waited in this line to get a car for 2 hours!!!!!!
Ive been renting from Budget/Avis Windsor Licks, CT since March 2021 every week and the employees are always friendly and welcoming. Diane, front desk clerk at Avis, is the one that usually helps me and her courtesy and world class customer service is the number one reason I continued renting. She always make sure Im I am satisfied with my rentals.
THE SUV WE RECEIVED HAD 60,000 MILES ON IT, A LITTLE HIGH FOR A RENTAL CAR. WHEN WE WERE DIVING BACK TO THE AIRPORT WE STOPPED FOR GAS ABOUT 1 MILE FROM THE BUDGET LOT. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, CALLED BUDGET, THEY SAID IF WE LEFT THE CAR IT WOULD STILL BE OUR REPSONSIBILY IF ANYTHING HAPPENED. THE CARS WOULD NOT EVEN TURNOVER AND WE HAD A PLANE TO CATCH. WE CALLED A UBER AND WERE DRIVEN TO THE AIRPORT. HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THE CAR SINCE THEN.
I will never rent from here again. We rented a Jeep Gladiator from Budget at Bradley International Airport in CT- right away, horrible pot smell in vehicle, was filthy and the running boards were missing making it difficult to get in and out. I was willing to overlook these issues.. We were 20 minutes late in returning the vehicle, due to the fact that the return section is marked as Avis car return- not Budget. Rental for a day is $87.99- They charged an extra $66 for an additional hour. I waited about a 1/2 hour to speak with an employee after noticing the charge and mentioned we were 20 min late due to poor communication and signs not clearly marked. We also waited for about 10 min for them to check in the vehicle. She said they dont charge by minutes so the additional hour is $66. They were unwilling to remove the charge. Horrible customer service. There are many rental places available, you would think Budget would understand the value of good customer service and word of mouth with positive feedback. All who read this, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, Ive had wonderful experiences with Enterprise..
I did not like being moved into a car, other than the type I had selected; particularly when the exact car I has selected was parked next to the one given to me. The car given to me was obviously older and not as spacious as the one I had ordered.
Workers at the pick up location (Hartford Bradley Airport) were not very friendly. They acted irritated that they had to work that day. Getting customers in and out quickly was not a priority to them.
Do to covid the car was not clean and one of the back seat was broken. staff did change vehicle- it was ok . Budget and Avis all was have great vehicles. Just not now
When I arrived there was no line, just one person being helped. It was 15-20 minutes before I was waited on. No big deal. When the employee was finished checking me in, and she was very friendly another 25 minutes had gone by. I went out to the car I was assigned, opened the passengers door and sent my backpack on the floor. The smell of cigarette smoke was so strong, I picked my bag up and closed the door. Im very sensitive to smoke, the smell alone makes it hard for me to breathe. I walked back in and stated that I would not be able to use the car they provided due to the smoke smell. The employee was working with someone else. So I waited again. She told another employee 15 minutes later, I would need another car. That employee started looking for another car. She went out to the car, came back in and told me she had 3 others smell the car, and there was no smell. She was told again by the first employee to get me another car. When I opened the door for the next car provided, it smelled of fragrance, so strong I had to drive with the windows open. When I reached my destination, the car had to be locked up with my belongings. When I returned to the car 6 hours later and opened the door, the smell in the car was of a fragranced ashtray and all of my belongings smelled like the car. When you say no smoking in the car, I was under the belief that the cars would not smell of smokers. I will not use your company again, nor will my husband. This is the first time this has ever happened with your company or any others I have used. I hope you will correct the problem for others who may rent from you, who like myself do not smoke, nor can breath around smoke or the smell left over.
I am so unhappy. I picked up the vehicle two days ago… the vehicle was dirty inside and out. Scratches dents and markings. I was advised by another customer in the parking lot, while recording a video of it, that she had the same issue with her rental and she was advised to let the security guard know on the way out so that he/she can make a record of it. So thats what I did but thevery next day the tire pressure light came on. At this point I had only driven from the airport to my hotel. I called budget and after numerous tries couldn’t get anyone! Tried all phone prompts and nothing routed to a live person. So I ended up finding a gas station and putting air in the tire so the indicator would go off. I also have to return the car tomorrow and may be an hour late due to a company meeting and I can’t even get anyone on the line to tell me if I will be charged an extra day. For all the trouble that I have received and the lack of integrity that this location has shown, I am bracing myself for the hardship and curveballs that Ill have to endure when I get to the counter tomorrow. If I wanted to switch the car I wouldn’t have been able to, if I had a major malfunction with the car, I wouldn’t have been able to reach roadside! For any issue with their vehicle, there’s no one available to help. I tried ALL PHONE PROMPTS/OPTIONS and THAT alone doesnt make me feel safe. Nevertheless, I wont be using this location again. The convenience is too much of an inconvenience and risk.
After 14 calls, no one could answer my question. I rented a vehicle for 4 days in one location, but had an emergency so I had to return the car to another state. Before making my decision to return the car to another location, I called Budget Customer Service 14 times. No one could answer a simple question, how much will it cost me to return the vehicle to another airport location. I was hoping to modify or edit my reservations, but no one could assist me. One representative stated they couldnt find my card on file to make changes(mind you, Im a fastbreak member for over 4 years) and I reserved my car using the same card on file. Another rep stated I will have to wait until I get to the other location for the balance. That is unacceptable, especially since they can charge you $1 or $1000.00, but no one can inform me ahead of time. Needless to say, I took a chance hoping if would be the same amount or equal to a quote from Hertz for one day. Budget charged me 3 times the amount of Hertz on top of my original reservation. Complete lack of respect for loyal customer. Never again!
From ordering the car online, to ease of pick up, to simple and quick return the entire process was easy and perfect. The vehicle I was given was in perfect off the lot condition and a definite bang for my buck. Would highly recommend and will use them again for any of my rental needs.

First there were only 2 people working and 1 training. There was a whole line of people waiting. It took about an 1 hour to finally get to the desk. They did all my paperwork slowly then had to start over because the car they put in my papers was not there. They re did the paper work and I go out to the car and turn it on and tire pressure light is on, so i had to go back in and wait some more. They got someone to check it and then they said I had to get a different car. I get the paper work go turn the car on and the check tire pressure is on in this one as well. So I have to go back in and wait again, they finally give me a car that had no lights on but in the end it took over 2 hours for me to leave which made me late to the rehearsal for a wedding I was in. It was a horrible experience and will never rent budget again!

The car I was given smelled like someone smoked in it. The car also had torn seats and burn marks and melted dash probably from cigarettes. I told the help and at least didnt get charged for it.
I returned the rental on June 18th to Newark NJ airport. No one was there to check us in. We were told to leave the keys in the car and were all set. Today is June 23rd and my credit card was charged another $250 hold. Now theres a total of $500 on hold. I called Budget and was told my rental agreement continues to show as open meaning in their system, I still have their rental. On budget.com, it shows me a receipt with the return mileage. Worse experience ever.
Service was slow with only one employee working at pickup/check in. There was no one available for turning in the car upon return and I missed the shuttle to the airport. I finally was able to find someone to turn in the car by wandering around all the car lanes but they didnt provide me a paper or emailed receipt. The worker said I would have one before the next shuttle arrived and that did not happen despite asking again for one. Waiting for them to try and charge me for not bringing the car back with a full tank. This was not a good overall experience.

This rental was for business, for 6 days. The people at this location were great but the kia soul I was in was in horrible shape, the key fob stopped working after 1 day. The car was scratched, dented, the interior was terribly dirty, the vehicle smelled of old stale smoke. It ran rough had nearly 70,000 miles on it, and was not at all what I was used to budget having. Not at all their typical quality.
We truly had a horrible experience with our rental from Budget. The Very day we signed the paperwork, upon going to the beach for vacation, the car all but broke down. The tire pressure light came on first and then the engine light. We spent 5 hours of our Sunday morning trying to get a new rental car. We went through Road Side assistance and Budget and no one new how to handle our situation. We were even told by the Budget agent to go get the oil changed or put oil in it, but it may effect our agreement if something happens to the car- like the engine going out completely. It was by far the worst experience we have had in renting a car. The car was dirty when we picked it up, it had smudge marks all over the GPS screen that was not wiped down, nor anything else.
Pre-paid for a specific class of car. Class not available at pick up, lower tier car provided. E-receipt show at $165 adjustment to the bill to overcharge me for providing the lower class of car. I was offered a higher class of car, with additional charges, the lower tier was never explained. On hold with customer service for 90 minutes. Agent at first resisted helping me, finally offered me a future discounted rental. Thank you for educating me that pre-paying for a rental is a bad and foolish idea.
Trying to get in touch with customer service is impossible. Waited over 6 hours on hold and once I finally got through I got hung up on. I was told originally that all charges were already prepaid as I thought. Then I end up with $150 charge at the end. Not very happy and cant talk to anybody about it. You will be able to see more in detail on this as I will post everything on every social media possible tomorrow evening if I dont hear from somebody before that.
First off budget was only supposed to freeze $200 for my deposit instead $250 was taken. I was 1.5 hours late returning the car and I even called but I was charged almost $150. This rental was so over priced to begin with and now more money was taken from me which is not fair at all. Its crazy how companies can just take what they want from our accounts and there is nothing we can do about it. I will never rent from BUDGET ever again. I will stick with ENTERPRISE from now on..

Driver seat didnt work so I couldnt drive the car at all. The key was broken so the only way to get in and out was manually and to lock the car you had to hit the lock button inside the driver door and then close it for all the doors to lock. The car was filthily inside and out and this rental was way too expensive. We are posting reviews to google and other consumer websites later today regarding our experience.

When I picked up my rental, the smell of deodorizer was overpowering. I thought, maybe its a Covid thing. I drove with the windows open, hoping to air it out. But when it aired out, I realized that the deodorizer was a mask over cigarette smoke. A minor problem was that the backup camera was partly obscured. But what really got me was that after I turned the car in, I went to the counter and asked for a discount, and was told that that would not be possible since I prepaid.

The actual people at the location were great I experienced horrible customer service via the phone and online. Impossible to reach online. Phone numbers and menu choices that went nowhere. The customer service on the phone was no help at all. He could not connect me directly to the location that I rented the car from. The number he gave ne was the same number I called to reach him. Just pitiful.Stay away!

In the airport the bus take too much time to pick up the customers, it takes about hour and half to gt a bus.
Budget did a great job at providing me a rental car. I wanted a 4wheel drive since I was going to the northeast for the weekend and they gave me the exact car posted on the website. Good rate too.
I had a pleasant experience with Sharon, She was efficient and attentive and despite covid she was ready and prompt to serve me with a smile. I was a little reluctant to rent from Budget after reading the reviews but Im so glad I chose to try it myself, and not let what the other viewers say impact me. Not only because they were the most affordable at the time but I felt as though the woman who had worked and served me really took pride in her job and was very informational and helpful. I was hoping to get a vehicle with a DVD player, she said she couldnt guarantee it but did let me choose between two vehicles, a suburban and a Tahoe, It worked out that the suburban did indeed have 2 DVDs. I was very excited. Another thing Sharen did was called me after I left and let me know if I had the ability to return the vehicle a couple hours early it would save me an additional 80$. which I did end up doing. So I picked up at 9 am, and returned at 9 am instead of the 12 oclock I originally requested. From start to finish it was a great experience and I will certainly go back. The only thing I will say to help anyone who does choose this place at the Hartford location is because of Covid they are linked with AVIS so to get inside you will go through the AVIS entrance for trucks or cars ( you will see spikes but thats only for closing hours, they will not pop your tires) I didnt know this until I asked Sharen and she had explained it, I ended up parking in the dirt across the street because I couldnt find the entrance initially. It was quite fine that you parked there to if you rather, several other people did the same. Lastly, the returning was just as easy. You simply pull in the return lot and a gentleman will ask you a couple questions and your all set. A huge thank you to budget for your high quality and professionalism.

The check engine light came on a few days into my rental. When I called I was told to return the car. I was directed to a location close to where I was staying. Service there was terrible. I got a dirty car with only 1/4 tank of gas. Also, the 2nd car was significantly lower quality than the original car I chose. I had to demand a credit for fuel. Upon returning the vehicle, I went inside to discuss the situation and was told that there was nothing they could do.

I had a car reserved for months. I received an email stating that my car will most likely not be available for that time and so do I want to look at other choices. I cancelled and went somewhere else. I guess having a reservation at Budget means nothing. Never again.
The vehicle had a smelling pungent odor. I almost threw up when I got into the vehicle. The vehicle needs maintenance done on its brakes and wheels.
Ease of making and paying for rental, employees and shuttle were very nice. Only issue is our rental smelled like cigarettes but we used febreeze and it helped

Danny at the front office was super helpful and so the rest of their staff. The car we got was clean and drop off was a breeze.
Car was not in a covered area-had to walk in a downpour that wasnt pleasant especially when loading luggage--also brought the car back full and was charged for gas- that was removed after I talked to customer service--lastly to reach customer service is way too long and didnt get call backs a couple of times-so it took an unacceptable amount of time (days) to rectify the problem.

I got charged 1,081 for 2 weeks on a rental car when I returned the carhow I have no idea tried to call customer service and was placed on hold for 45 mins and still havent recieved and money back will not rent from again if I could give 0 stars I would.

Went there to drop the car after 12 in the night and the staff was very helpful even that late in the night. They are courteous and there for the help if you need it. I wasnt getting Uber back to my home so they said they have shuttle to airport and I can get local taxi from there. They called the shuttle and asked them to pick us up. Very grateful.

I was charged for an additional day, when in fact I picked up my vehicle 12 hours LATER than I was originally scheduled to due to a flight delay (which means it was essentially a day less not an additional day. I have tried to reach out to get this resolved and fixed, but have not been successful.

As soon as I first stepped into my car rental it reeked of marijuana. There was a dent on the rear passenger side. I reported it to the counter and they at first said nothing and looked at me like that was normal. I asked that these items be noted and they waved me off saying that they would do so. It was late at night and I was on a long flight so I just left expecting those items would be noted. The next day I noticed that the cars insides were covered in grease. I found pubic hair in one of the door caddy shelves (I have photographs.) I was later pulled over by a police because the tags were expired. Luckily the officer understood the situation. The smell is nauseating and might be more than marijuana. The car is uncomfortable and legally undrivable. I called customer service and I was scolded for driving without tags. I have had to take time away from a business trip to deal with this. I want a full refund.
Check in and drop off procedures went smooth. I have Fast Break and the car was waiting and warmed up when we got there. I had requested an intermediate SUV and was upgraded to a standard SUV at no charge.When dropping off the car we were told the bus would be there within 5 minutes and we had to wait 15. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I was charged extra for gas even though we had filled the car up at a station 2 miles from the airport. The attendant didnt want to see the receipt for the gas station and he said that his machine was out of paper so couldnt give me a receipt. I went online and downloaded my receipt and found out they had charged me $26 for gas. Disputing this was painful at best but fortunately they refunded the charge.I had the same thing happen at the Denver Airport location a couple of months earlier. Both times it was a small enough charge that it didnt raise big red flags and I probably wouldnt have noticed it if I didnt know what I was looking for. if Budget is doing this frequently (I noticed several other reviewers had the same experience) they are making a lot of extra money. Beginning to wonder if this is a scam that Budget is running nationwide. DEFINITELY check your receipt for unusual charges.I have been a Fast Break customer for a long time but am rethinking using Budget as my car rental company of choice due to this issue.
My entire rental experience, from the reservation to return was so smooth! I needed a car on short notice and then had to adjust the arrangements. No problem at all with a great website that was easy to use. And in person each and very Budget employee went out of their way to extend fantastic customer service. I have to especially commend the Budget Van Driver who drove to/from Bradley Airport (Floyd Levee). His positive attititude was outstanding!

I continue to be impressed with the level of service I get from budget. This was my first time renting at this particular location and the employee who helped us was outstanding. There was apparently a glitch in my fast-break account (dashes in my drivers license #) and he offered to fix the problem. The car we received was a hybrid and he provided a ton of info about it. He made everything so easy. Car was in perfect condition. Return process quick and easy. Their prices are great ... So they are definitely my go-to rental company.
I had to make 3 reservations at 3 different locations in order to pick up 1 rental car. If I didn’t have someone able to drive me over CT in order to get a car, I would have been stranded. I will never use your service again.
My car was returned with a FULL gas tank early in the morning without a representative to verify with. After checking my credit card statement a gas charge of $112.58 was fraudulently added to my rental. This crooked practice of adding on bogus charges after drop off is dishonest, deceitful and highly upsetting. This is not the first time this shady business has happened to me which is the reason I left the gas receipt on the seat in hopes to avoid this heinous situation. I have better things to do with my valuable time than double check their accounting and then jump through hoops to prove the horrendous added charges are FALSE!This practice is untrustworthy and unscrupulous!! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and never renting from Budget again!!
First time with budget and I will NEVER step foot in there again! My husband had a reservation set for a car and already PAID for it. I go in there and they are already trying to convince me to do All the different insurances etc. I said no thank you, and they asked for a credit card. I live in Michigan and was visiting MA where my family is. I did not have a credit card but I had my debit card with money on it. They refused the debit card and insisted a credit card. I Asked if they could get my husbands credit card over the phone and they said no and refused to give me a car when it was ALREADY PAID FOR!!!!!! They made me walk down a busy street with my luggage and Carry on bag in 12 degree weather to Alamo! Thank god for Alamo, They were awesome and it took me 15 minutes to be in a rental w/ no issues!! I will never go to budget again and I will continue to use Alamo!

This was, hands down, my worst experience renting a car. I cannot recommend this place to anyone.While trying to pick up my car, the woman behind the desk was less than helpful and obviously in a hurry to end her shift. I was asking specific questions about the cars features, and was ready to upgrade if needed. She brushed me off entirely. So I got a car that really didnt work for me.Secondly, the car needed its oil changed (the alert kept going off) and the cruise control wasnt working properly (which was a feature I had specifically inquired about because I was going to be traveling a long distance).Thirdly, I got stuck in traffic on my way to drop the car off. I tried calling all the numbers I had access to, and kept getting routed to their call center. The call center kept giving me new numbers that would wind up routing back to them. This made me an extra hour late because I had to keep pulling over to write down new numbers, dial, talk to them on the phone, etc.In the end, I was 2 hours late to drop off the car and they charged me an extra $50 for it! The entire daily rate for the car was only around $30! And I would have only been an hour late had their phone systems been setup correctly, and their staff at all knowledgeable.This experience put a huge damper on my trip. I will never rent from Budget again and I suggest you pay a tad more to rent elsewhere,too.
I always use budget best prices best deals, coupon and discount codes on lineI just flew from Orlando to Hartford ct and was picked up in a shuttle bus to budget. And what a good time I had. The driver Courtney Williams was very pleasant and ensured where were going even checking for our fast break number for easy car pick up access. He made the travelers on the shuttle laugh and even kept being social with all of us. He was charismatic and helpful and put customers at ease. We enjoyed our CT trip and was ready to return our rental and look who we have here upon our return to check the car in was no other than good ole COURTNEY WILLIAMS!!! How about that he’s the shuttle driver and the check in guy? What else does this great guy do?We greeted each other as if we were old friends. Having him is a asset. Chatted with me and my husband and once again had something funny to say. Outside of the car being cheap a great baby shower and a trip to secret market in Springfield, Courtney made the trip memoriable. Give him a raise! I’ll be back budget!!!
Car broke down 1/2 hour after pickup and now you are still charging me
It all went smooth. The person at the register who checked us in was super helpful and friendly. Would appreciate if budget considers to make it cheaper and stand up to its name.

Perhaps my worst rental experience ever. First car they tried to give us was dirty grimy and smoky. They changed us to a small SUV which was an upgrade, but assured us we would not be charged for the upgrade. They did. We also declined additional insurance coverages (as I travel fairly frequently and I know what my insurance and my credit card company will cover) But they charged us anyway. It literally more than doubled our expense. Very poor business practice you can jump on the shuttle I’ll get the door
Started with getting a great deal on line. After landing at the airport, everyone was great. From the woman who drove the shuttle, the reps in the office, to the young lady walking by who rushed over in the rain to lift my suitcase onto the newly rented car, all were fantastic representatives for Budget.
Front window was very dirty on the inside, tire pressure light came on shortly after leaving rental area. One of the tires had 57 pounds of pressure. When dropping car off at Bradley Airport we drove to Budget only to find a sign that said go to Avis which we had already past. Not the best experience.
Horrible customer service and insane charges.. I will nevsr use this company again nor will I tell people to use it..absolutely horrible
Reliable rental at Bradley (BDL) Airport, Windsor Locks, CT. Ive used Budget several times, most recently for 12 days in Oct 2019. I have never had trouble with any of the rentals. The only minus for me is I cant guarantee a specific type of vehicle. I visit an elderly relative so need an SUV. I have never been stranded, but when I arrive late at night selection is limited. it may be because I book through Costco travel, not sure. When I take red-eye and arrive in the morning, get a better selection. They have a free shuttle to and from the airport. I book based on price so most often Budget wins out. I will use them again.
