The shuttle from airport to location was fast and the lady working the preferred counter think it was Tamar was amazing and very helpful. Location was very busy due to events in town this weekend. Took a few minutes to get the car brought up since they were cleaning it and then just stop at the gate and good to go.
Everything went smooth. This was the first time I did the reservation through the app, and it worked really well, I just had to search the car myself and checked when leaving the parking lot. no need to stay in the cashier line. awesome experience.
We had the most terrible pick up experience. I used AVIS rather than a low cost provider expecting better service - I called ahead of time (after trying the online option) to get the rental added to my WIZARD number. I also tried to register online to expedite the rental pick up. Long story short, I waited about 75 minutes (in line) to pick up my car - the staff, while pleasant enough, were inadequately trained and there didnt seem to be any management presence on site - it was chaos. I have seriously thought about not ever using AVIS again because of this experience - I have used other providers and have never had such a bad experience. I expect more from AVIS.
This was much better than the awful Budget rental I made in July. The line was long at the Hartford airport, but it moved quickly thanks to the three ladies working behind the counter. I was pleased with the car I received and checked out quickly. The car worked fine for the time I rented it and the return was very easy. Its amazing how different renting a car can be from the same company in different places.
It took a little bit longer at the counter when we picked up the car. But the car was great no problems with it. And the check in when we got back I was quick and easy.
After securing a rental from Avis we received numerous emails. Each email detailed a different vehicle. We selected a Kia Sorento and were denied from exiting the lot by the attendant. After showing her the email with the reservation to include the correct license plate she told us that we would have to return the car and take a Toyota. After some argument between us she refused to open the gate and insisted there was nothing that could be done. She never picked up the phone to offer us any assistance. Upon returning to customer service there was a line of ten people so we just took the Toyota, from one of the many emails, which reeked of smoke and air freshener. Ill stick with Hertz next time.
The condition of the vehicle was extremely unsafe. The tires were bald with steel exposed in the tires. I felt very vulnerable in driving the car and limited my travel out of fear that the tire would blow while driving on I-91. This could very well lead to an accident. The steering wheel vibrated when exceeding 45mph on 1-91 which prompted to look at the tires. I am perplexed how Avis would allow for this vehicle to be on the road. I think Avis should value the safety and well-being of the customers more than what I was shown. The ironic thing is the Avis Representative had convinced me to upgrade to the car that she provided me. I can only wonder how bad was the vehicle I would have been given if I had not paid extra. Avis should take actions to make this right, there is no way I should have to pay for the rental and a future rental should be on Avis to win my business back.
An extremely friendly staff. I must have interacted with at least 5 different employees. All of them were overwhelmingly courteous and professional. Very friendly and very easy to deal with.
I rented a Mid-Size SUV which I found at the time of check out was much smaller than other rental car companys that I normally do business with, so I opted to get a larger vehicle. I later realized the tired were bald on the vehicle, the USB charger in the truck didnt work which almost left me stranded as my GPS was dying on my phone (mind you the vehicle didnt have its own GPS...which I do understand is no fault of AVIS) However, it was a huge inconvenience to stop on the side of the road at some random store to charge my phone. The change oil light kept coming on, however, when I let the customer service rep know, she said, oh thats nothing we just ignore that light. Well, I can see ignoring it with a vehicle thats operating well, but, a vehicle with bald tires and a USB not working, makes me wonder when the last time the oil was changed. The part that really frustrated me the most was when I returned the vehicle and let the agent know all the complaints I had, she said she could only take $12 off total because I had such a good rate and I couldve taken the vehicle back to an AVIS location to get a new vehicle. This was not acceptable or how I am used to being treated at other rental car companys. With that said, I will more than likely not return to Avis for any rental car needs in the future.
I had originally booked my car to be picked up later in the evening and discovered the Avis counter at Bradley Airport closed at midnight. I was able to amend my reservation with no trouble to the next morning. When it was time to actually take the flight, I arrived earlier than anticipated. I went to the Avis counter and was able to obtain my car that night instead of having to wait until the next morning. I call that 5 star service. I have been renting cars from Avis for almost 40 years when I travel, and will continue to do so.
Lets just say they were challenged. I will give benefit of the doubt. Covid has caused great labor shortages. The heat was also unbearable in the office. Not sure if the AC was down. They gave my car away as a preferred member and tried to downgrade me after I prepaid in full. They finally found a car for me after an hour. Hope things get better for this location. The rep at the counter was nice. I felt for her as there were many unhappy people in that office that day.
The car I had was a Honda CRV. It was not cleaned properly and not checked properly mechanically. prior to be rented to me. The car reeked of Smoke. The fron wind shield and all windows in side were not cleaned. When the sun came thru the window, I could not even see the Hiway. I has to pull in a station, get windex wiped and clea as best I could the Wind shoud. The Oil service light was on when I got it indicating it needed to be changed. The car slips when stopped almost stalling. With the outrageous prices you are now charging, I would expect at least a clean vehicle. This is my second instance with this location once under Budget and now Avis. I come to CT often, but this is the last time I will utilize this location. The iside reps were fine, its the vehicle maintenance and cleaning that is sub par

I am unhappy because I selected the option to prepay for the car rental. The actual charge was $170 but I prepaid $340. The prepay is non-refundable. Apparently, this is a trick the company uses to maximize profits. I was very happy with the service. However, I was very disappointed that Avis resorts to this method to fool people into paying twice what they actually should. Yes, I should have read the agreement closely and the company gets my money. But in the future, I will try to avoid using Avis due to this policy.

Avis was on point we were in and out the door within 10 minutes. We received a fairly by new Toyota Tundra which was cool to drive around town. Check out was a breeze they just scan the UPC and we were out the door.
The shuttle was prompt and the driver was very helpful (both arriving and departing). Additionally, the staffer that checked in our van was incredible - helped us get our bags out and on to the shuttle plus the process was super quick. Finally, the van was there and had the car seats in it. All in all, an excellent experience
Typical Avis used preferred app so thank goodness I didnt have to go to the counter. Vehicle I picked up only had 3/4 of a tank of gas and like always half cleaned. I just rolled with it I have learned you have to lower your expectations with Avis.
While there was a bit of a wait in Hartford because of few staff, it was a pleasant experience and the agent clarified everything. I was a little concerned about dropping off in Portland, but there were no worries.That a Chevy Trax is classified as a mid-size SUV is a bit of a stretch. Cargo space was tight for two of us and thankfully, we had the manual in the glove box to find out how to lower the back seats.Staff at both ends of the transaction were pleasant and efficient.

I have been using this particular location Bradley, CT for 7 years now, I can say they go beyond their responsibilities to help customers, last Friday my flight got delay and arrived at 12:30 AM and the Bradley, CT location closes at midnight, the shuttle was waiting for us at the airport and the office was also waiting for us to close, they dont leave you stranded, I always use AVIS and no other location treat you like this one; they are polite and helpful from the drivers to the office staff.In another visit to Bradley I left my cellular in the rented car, somebody from the field contact the shuttle driver that was taking me to the airport by radio and he went back to get my cellular, they are AMAZING!!!
The counter staff in Hartford really saved me when my flights were cancelled. I appreciate them taking the time to find the best rate and helping me when I was in a bind. Kudos.
The car was immaculate, new, and a pleasure to drive. It was easy to make the reservation and to pick up the car when I arrived at Bradley. The Avis employees were all a pleasure to interact with. It was also very easy to return the vehicle and get on my way via their shuttle to the airport.

The attendants were SUPER friendly and helpful - even though our flight was delayed and we arrived after hours. The shuttle was at the airport waiting for us and the attendants gave us helpful information about where we could get food at 1:30 am and how to get to our next destination.
I called prior to returning my rental and was told there would be no penalties for returning it a day earlier. When I got to Avis I was told because I prepaid I wouldnt get a refund for day rental. Had I known that I wouldnt have returned the vehicle!! Besides having a Corporate account with Avis I would expect some leeway in regards to prepaying!! Im make sure to let other coworkers know about my experience!!
Reserved by phone, was told no hold fees with proof of return flight out from Bradley airport, got to rental agency and they required a $250 hold. Was more than the rental. Woman at counter said they dont use the return flight policy there. I should take it up with who I talked to .... on YOUR phone line. Didnt really care about resolving the issue. Manager was even less help than the rude woman at the counter
Always seem to have card which is nice but also usually packed with people, it would be odd to not have to wait in line here but they do a good job of processing you through and getting g you on your way.
The first cars tailgate was broken so I moved to another car. That one smelled badly of cigarette smoke. I didnt have far to go so I just kept it instead of switching to a 3rd car. I told the attendant as I was leaving about the smell and I wasnt offered another car or any remedy. I asked him to note the smell so I wasnt charged and he wrote it on my receipt instead of putting it in the computer. Poor service!
When I went to pick up the car they gave me a car that had the check tire pressure on. They offered to put the air in the tires which they did but the gauge still showed the message. I asked for another car and they didnt walk me out and show me the car. They told me to go around the side of the building and gave me the parking space number and told me it was a Nissan. I got the Nissan and got up to the gate and was told it was the wrong car so I had to bring it back. The nightmare got worse when the seatbelt was stuck and I could not unlock it. I blew the horn but nobody came. I had to keep fighting the seat belt until I got it unlocked. They gave me another car and on the way home the maintenance oil and filter light came on. I had to drive back to the airport to get another car. A complete nightmare. The only apology I received was from the individual from roadside assistance that I spoke with when I called. Nobody at the rental location even apologized or showed concern for my experience. They were just frustrated that they had to get me another car. If I could give a score less than one I would but that is not an option

I feel this way because when I receive the rental I was expecting a specific car and was given something different and also the car was super dirty inside it look like it was not clean ...cup holders filty,seat were with rice and crums and also stain up ...I did not feel comfortable in it the way I was given this car had to clean it up my self in the inside...specially with this covid I think this car was given to me and was not clean nor sanitized before given it to the next person...I was very unsatisfied this time with avis...
Really didnt care for the Rav4 because of the steering. Wouldve preferred the Camry. Staff was very pleasant & fast.
It is 2021 and everyone has a cell phone in their pocket and plenty of digital payment options. So why do I ALWAYS have to wait in a 45 min LINE! Build an app and automate this process. Renting cars needs to be streamlined. Quit wasting my time!

Car smelled badly of smoke, brakes didnt feel right (rotors were definitely warped), and I had to stop and pay to put air in one of the tires (It was more than 10 psi lower than it should have been). Also when I picked up the car the process was extremely lengthy (and I already had a pre-paid reservation) - it took about 30 minutes to get the car & there was only 1 customer ahead of me. The staff did not impress me as being friendly at all and this indicates to me that Avis likely doesnt treat them well. The drop off experience was not as bad & was relatively easy - the staff there were much better to deal with.

I reserved and paid in advance for a passenger ban since I was picking up 10 at Bradley. There was no van when I arrived and the agent said to make do with a 8 passenger Suburban. 5 hours later you offered me a defective van that had a leaking tire. Finally a proper van arrived. The manager was worthless in trying to resolve this issue.

The woman at the check in counter when I came to get my vehicle was very pleasant and helpfulShe solved a problem which occurred regarding the type of vehicle I had reserved quickly and was very nice about it. I was out of the check in swiftly and with a smile on my face.
Van was in excellent conditions. Costumer service was very poor. Associate stated that we had to take the car for a review/inspection to the lady in charge of the gate since they sit all day and do nothing. Once we got there, the lady was upset (as we imagine). So we were on a limbo with 2 employees venting to us why the other one should work 😳. Manager came and gave us his card (he looked embarrassed....poor guy).
I run a business, and rent cars and trucks probably 6 to 10 times per year from Enterprise. Enterprise has no availability due to covid lack of vehicles in area so I tried your company. When called in I was told there was plenty of vehicle at Hartford branch. Upon arrival 15 mins later after call there was o available vehicle. 6 passenger van so I agreed to rent but wasnt allowed because I use a personal or business visa debit. So I was turned away and told to go to airport Avis. Not wanting to miss out on any vehicles I I booked one over phone. Drovre to airport to pick up jeep rented. When I got there Check in was rude. I was told I cant rent jeep after deposit was taken. Service was loud and embarrassing. I explained I have plenty of money in debit account to cover cost of vehicle God forbid something unforseen happen. Also stated Ill purchase any insurances need to cover vehicle and or including my own auto cover. The Manager said he would allow a ONE time rental. Then was told I had to clean vehicle and fill up at local gas station when returning. Provide gas receipt. Which I did. However when I first got in jeep, it wasnt clean! So I ended up cleaning your vehicle twice. Not a good experience.

I can’t get them to pick up the phone. This is really frustrating. Literally no one at Avis, anywhere will pick up the phone. Not using Avis again.Jasmine, I tried that number, as well. Just a recorded message which keeps promising to respond—which never happens. You seriously can’t tell me that this Avis location was so very busy at that time of night, that they could not answer the phone. Not buying it.

Great place as a rental car 🚗. Organization is very good, customer service nice, the pick up was fast and furious, I recommend be clear on what you need : Insurence, gas, hour of drop off, etcetera. Your pocket talk by yourself, the front desk sell and you buy, be smart and be conscious of what you really need. Good place for rent a car.
Be prepared to wait and for them to not have the car you booked. Cars were overbooked. They found one for me, but the employees were using it as a personal shuttled. They then forgot that I needed it and parked it around back, leaving me to wait 30 minutes until I said something.
Not happy with customer service and extra fees, I returned the car with .4 gallons less gas than I received it and was charged 23 plus dollars. My rental cost way more than the 132 dollar originally agreed upon, and it was returned in less than 24 hours. Also I was forced to cancel my original prepaid reservation when all that needed to be done was amend the driver info to match my card. Nothing but a big hassle for way to much money, Ill be using enterprise in the future because they have always treated me very well!!!!

I reserved my car at Hartford downtown two months ago. When I went to there, I found 5 people in front of me, waiting for their vehicles. And I realized that there was no a single car available. Even worse, I was asked to bring my Corporate bage to get my car. Ive never been asked it last 15 years. I had to go back my home to get it for 1 hour. Once I came back, the lady said still no car available. I had to call Avis call center to get my car from Bradley Airport one. No one at Hartford downtown one helped to do it but said that no car available.

Avis is a rip off! If I could give them no stars I would.The price! Are you joking ? I booked a car for $319, which is already pricey for 3 1/2 days and once I was at the rental spot, after flying across the country the final price $632! Not to mention the car also smelled like cigarettes so bad we had to drive with the windows down for the first half of our drive.The other car rentals were all sold out so I could not switch to another rental and was stuck at the airport so I had no choice. I paid twice the amount than my anticipated price and felt like I had no other choice.I will NEVER use Avis again and I do not suggest anyone using them unless you want an over priced car that reeks of cigarettes.
Got the runaround when trying to reserve a car for my cousin and prepaid with my credit card. Couldnt change existing reservation so had to make a new one and pay a thousand dollars more than the original prepaid amount. Will never rent from Avis again and warn friends and family about the inefficient policies when it comes to renting a car from them.

Car wasnt cleaned very well. There were obvious greasy marks and stains. Good thing they left clorox wipes or this would be a 1 star review. In todays times, apparent cleanliness is key. We are too far into the pandemic to slack on this feature.
The car was a Chevy Malibu that had a large scratch on the rear panel. Also, the whole time I had it, there was a message on the dash that said an oil change was due. Finally, I was told that if I exceeded the 24 hour rental period by a minute, i would be charged an additional $70.
This review shout out to the old lady that helped me on June 1st. She was patient and didn’t urge me to do anything beyond my plan, like purchasing something else. The place is kind of misleading cause I’m renting from budget but they switch to the Avis location. Basically there’s only this lady alone and a young man. But she helped me and it was smooth and clear.
Avis Car Rental completely disgusted with this place not only did I fall cracked both arms elbows split wide open on BLACK ICE I was told that all fees were going to be waived as well as an upgrade go to return the car and get charged at extra $200 tell the guy what the lady said as you can see the video he did not care terrible service very unprofessional uncompassionate charge his card what it said as the receipt when rented and then said they needed another card for a hold but nothing would be charged on that card which was my bosss card and charge $200 on top of what we had already paid and lost my job because of it dont rent from here. You will be taken advantage of and treated poorly!!!!!!
Rented a SUV here last week. It reeked of cigarettes. Miles away from the renewal I realized that the seatbelts of the passenger seats were disabled.After wasting two hours going back and switching the car, all they would do for me was update my rental agreement to the time I actually got a functioning carAfter reviewing my receipt I see I was charged a extra 150$ for the the extra time!?Overall dirty car and bad experienceUpdate: not worth emailing them, 3 days later and still no response
Car was a little smelly and worn and we found an unused Magnum condom in the seat back pocket (good for whoever had the car before us!) Otherwise no real problems at all.

Yet again, for the second time at the same location, we were charged for fuel when bringing back a vehicle actually overfull. Again, both times we were over charged, the attendant was “unable to print a receipt” and they gave me an emailed receipt. Having to catch a flight, I didn’t see the extra charge until I was through security. I am strongly considering filing a complaint with the BBB. As you can tell by my rental history, or lack thereof, I’ve started going elsewhere for my vehicle rental needs. Again, I try to give Avis another chance, and the same fraud happens again. Some might say “it’s just 10 bucks, don’t worry about it!” However, if this happens to 1% of your rentals and people don’t worry about it, that’s hundreds of thousands of not millions in fraudulent overcharges. Feel free to contact me to make things right or keep doing what you’re doing and complaints will stack up at the BBB and social media for everyone to see.

I live across the street from avis, my car broke down & needed a car immediately. Looked online quickly & just walked into Avis. I was quoted almost $900 for 3 days, but when looking online it was $220. So I asked why?!!! She informed me you have to reserve a car NOT just walk in. This is totally rediculous! I rent cars in Az for $30 a day! Its absurd for the price difference to begin with but to try & charge $900 for 3 days!!!

The car had issues and it had less than 20k miles on the odometer. The tires were not balanced which caused the steering wheel to shake on the highway. The passenger mirror had the cover removed and there was a dent in the driver door. Because it was a short trip, it was not worth returning the car for a different one.

Went here to pick up a budget rental. Terrible experience. We showed up around 9pm and there was absolutely where to park or any way to get in. The woman was rude and added on a ton of charges without saying anything and that turned into a huge head ache.
Horrible experience!! I just returned a car with full gas tank and they charged me $40 for gas even after the attendant said it would be taken care of. Plus, now I’m trying to contact them, and I’m unable to reach anyone! Such a rip off!!

Extremely overpriced & not the best customer service...the phone directory people knew nothing smfh...clerk @ the front desk didnt want to listen to me & sue to her not listening, my credit was charged twice, so now I have to wait until the money is put back in my credit card...I will NEVER rent from Avis(this was a last resort & I regret every bit of it)
