Wonderful experience for my four year olds (Riley) first visit. We were greeting upon arrival, waiting area was clean and comfortable. Her appointment was scheduled at 12 pm and we were taken back before that time. Everything was wonderful, staff was very friendly, ( and kid friendly:) ) even though Riley was scared, and we weren’t able to her teeth cleaned the hygienist was excellent in calming her down, and showing her everything. The dentist was great also. Even down to the last stop at billing everyone was very friendly. Overall a very good first experience and we can’t wait to come back!

Its been 8 years since I went to the dentist, so I was a little unsettled going in. Katie did a FANTASTIC job making me feel welcomed and comfortable! Shenandoah Family Dentistry is always professional and proficient. I have had no complaints thus far. One is not left waiting in the reception area wondering what’s going on. There is always a friendly staff to greet you or check in with you. Katie is the hygienist I see often and she makes one feel comfortable and important. My family recently switched to Shenandoah Family Dentistry and we couldnt be happier. Today was my first appointment, and to be honest, I was pretty nervous. The staff put me at ease, which meant a lot to me. Moreover, I was a happy camper and left their office with a bright smile on my face...for two reasons: 1.) Obviously it was a dental cleaning so my mouth was feeling fresh and my teeth sparkling like a new chandelier! 2.) They were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely patient with me!Furthermore, if youre looking for a dentist in the area, I highly recommend checking out Shenandoah Family Dentistry; ask for Marissa! If you want a positive experience, Im sure any of the staff members would be able to provide it; however, Marissa was the perfect hygienist for me because she was sociable, funny, knowledgeable, friendly, witty, accommodating and just an absolute delight. The same goes for Dr. Pell! They didnt rush through the cleaning and/or the exam, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was just a great dental experience.

For years I have avoided the dentist office out of fear and anxiety. Dr Pell and everyone at Shenandoah Family Dentistry are amazing, and extremely patient. They truly understand my concerns. They are the best! Thanks Marissa you did an amazing job, painless teeth and gum cleaning.

The dentists were great, they were informative and thorough. The office atmosphere is nice and beautiful. The only issue that I had with them is their billing structure is really difficult to deal with. They want a $75 new patient deposit, which if you have a family of 4 that is $300. Yes it gets used for the services, but it still is tying up your money for that time frame. The other issue is with regards to dental insurance, I have dental insurance but yet they charged me for the full visit and then after the fact I need to request a reimbursement or they will hold the money till my next appointment. Again, if you multiply that by a family, it gets really expensive. Every other dentist I have been to estimates the insurance portion and then charges you the balance. So now I had a great appointment with them and was considering moving my family there but my appointment now holds up my $75 deposit, and $160 for the full visit, now I wait till the insurance payment comes through and then I need to go back and ask for my money back. And I just dont know if I can justify tying up $300 to set up my whole family to get a dental cleaning when I know my insurance would actually pay for it in full. And then I would need to pay for each of those appointment and wait to get my money back. I really appreciate their dentists and staff but really cant justify the expense.

After a while of not going to the dentist, katie showed me the importance of keeping up with my dental hygiene. She was very professional & informative. I could tell she knew what she was talking about, and she made the experience for me very well! Definitely the best experience Ive had at the dentist, & I look forward to getting my dental hygiene back on track with Katies advice as well as her 10/10 very professional service. I highly recommend this dentist office!

5 years ago, my health was in bad shape and for the first time in my life, I had cavities-- and not just a few, but ten! I went to a local in-network dentist. The experience was terrible, and I left feeling so much distrust for the practice that I did the worst thing someone in my situation could have done and decided simply to ignore the problem. Recently, the cavities started causing pain, so I set up an appointment with SFD, since my husband recently saw them for an emergency crown and raved about the experience (well, as much as someone can rave about an emergency dental procedure).I walk into the place and realize that no, this is NOT the same place my husband had visited. Google photos left me confused, and I had actually set up an appointment with the terrible practice! I didnt want to just walk out on them, so I went ahead with it. The hygienist was great, but the dentist was awful and wouldn’t even tell me where the cavities were. When I asked, he simply said all over. He didnt show me the xrays; I was just supposed to take his word. I was in and out in half an hour, with maybe two minutes with the dentist, who used those two minutes to wait in the doorway and give condescending responses to my questions. I was given a quote for the fillings (a modest $300 for ten fillings) and sent on my way. The minute I got back in the car, I made an appointment with the ACTUAL SFD.Originally the wait was a month out, but they were able to get me in earlier due to a cancellation. They have you fill out some online paperwork beforehand, and I was surprised at the detail of the questions. One even asked if I would want sunglasses or a blanket during my exam! I thought it was nice that they were going into such detail, though I guessed they probably wouldnt give my responses much thought.When I got to the practice, I was brought back almost immediately. Katie was wonderful-- she clearly had read my paperwork and had even done research on the practice I was coming from. At my request, the practice had sent them the 18 xrays theyd taken, but Katie had to redo some because they were such poor quality. (She did not charge me for them.) She also took photos between the teeth. Then, Dr. V came in to examine my teeth, look over the photos and xrays, etc. He confirmed that I had ten cavities, and he and Katie made sure I understood exactly where they were and what the filling procedure would entail. Then Katie did my cleaning, which honestly felt kind of like a spa treatment rather than the usual torture. The entire 90 minutes, she never left the room. I didnt feel like a diseased mouth to get in and out of the office but instead a whole person to help and interact with. Think of your favorite hairdresser whom you trust to cut your hair however she sees fit because you know she will communicate with you about every step she takes and that she genuinely has your best interest at heart. Now imagine that that person is using needles and drills in your mouth. Thats how I feel about this dental practice.I scheduled my fillings for the following Monday and Tuesday, since my first visit was on a Thursday. Dr. V made me feel comfortable and safe and was NEVER condescending the way, well, every dentist Ive seen before has been.Its true that SFD is more expensive than other dentists in the area; theyre not in my network, so I knew that by visiting them Id be paying more out of pocket. Specifically, Im paying four times as much to visit them, and theyre worth every penny. Unlike the in-network offices I’ve visited, SFD is visibly clean, with professional, friendly employees and higher quality tech. I think in-network practices are able to offer such steep discounts because they rush through procedures and aren’t as up-to-date. I have known people who have died from complications of subpar dental work, so I’m happy to budget to invest in great dentistry. In just a few days, SFD has changed me from someone who has literal nightmares about dental work to someone who is actually looking forward to her cleaning in six months.

Katie had amazing patience with my 7 year old who was super apprehensive about getting X-rays. She told him every step that she was going to take to help ease his fears. She was always very encouraging to my 3 year old who was a champ today!

Im a person who suffers from many health issues. I have exstream anxiety. When it comes to medical and dental appointments. But since the beginning I started going to Shenandoah Family Practice Ive not had one panic attack. Or become overwhelmed with anxiety. This place is well staffed by professionals who care and listen. They always explain and walk you through procedures you maybe there for. The lights covered with art work on the ceiling above the dentist Chair relax me. Dr. Pell makes you feel like old friends. All of his dental hygienist all top notch!I had Becky on my most recent visit. She is a hoot! I hope I have her again. As for the Billing people and The Receptionist there. They are people who treat you like a person not just another number. Thank you to everyone there.

Ive been going to Dr. Pell for several years and am always pleased with my experience. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to get an appointment the day after I called in about needing a filling to be replaced! Dr. Pell is very knowledgeable and doesnt pressure patients to get unnecessary dental work.

Before moving to Winchester, I did a lot of research of dentists in the area - those both in and out of network - and I have good insurance. Ive had plenty of dental work done in my lifetime so I didnt want a chain (made that mistake a decade ago). All the dentists who were in-network for my GEHA Dental, had 2.5 stars or worse, 1 star reviews. I called Shenandoah Family Dentistry (SFD) and they said they were pretty much out of network for everyone. And back then, they had 300+ 5-star Google reviews which is AMAZING!Ive easily had $20k+ of dental work in my lifetime so yes, I want an office that has top of the line equipment, no long waits for appointments, and dentists & staff who treat you like a human being. I met with Dr. Arcos for my dental emergency and shortly after, met with Melissa for my treatment plan review. One bonus I like with them is their texting system. I HATE leaving voicemails so I appreciate even if they cant necessary call me back right away, the texting is an option. Its worked well for me these past 4 months. Melissa has been GREAT to work with when it comes to my treatment plan and so patient with me with questions.Shelby at the front desk is always pleasant to speak with, and I cant remember all the names of the hygienists/techs Ive seen since my first January appt. I think I had Jessie for todays fitting/second impression? Dr. V has been doing my impressions and both Dr. Arcos and V have been great to work with - friendly and professional. I cant speak to them charging more than other people that other folks have mentioned in their reviews because Ive dealt with enough bad services in my past, I didnt want to take a chance from the beginning.So do you want them fixing someone elses mistakes in your mouth by spending more money or get it right the first time by SFD? SFD is worth it...both the out-of-network costs (for me personally) and this 5-star review.

At first I really liked this office, but after awhile I got annoyed at the constant asking about extra services. do you want flouride extra charge...do you want a tongue cancer screening extra charge.Then a barage of please rate us on facebook and google. I had to wait over a week to get a tooth filed down from a filling after I told the dentist its too high on one side and its uncomfortable to bite down or chew. They told me its policy to wait a week..a few days maybe but not over a week.Also billing is awful and so is getting your records. Please do better for your patients in future.

Katie quickly put me at ease on both issues. She exercised appropriate safety measures throughout my procedure, plus, for the first time ever, she conducted “gag-free” X-rays. The office is always super clean which is another plus.The front desk and billing however should take some tips from these nice folks I mentioned above . They lady (older for sure )who called me about my account nearly had me in tears on the phone because of her tone. I gave them my correct info and it Must have been entered incorrectly and she was quick to get hostile with me over billing issues that weren’t my fault. With that said the Great out weight the bad and I keep coming because of the wonderful care I receive in the chair. That’s Dr.B,Tanya and KATIE you are what keeps me showing up.

I have been seeing Dr Pell since he started his practice, replacing Dr Gordon. I have not had any issues in 21 years with him. Today I went for a checkup and xrays. The young Lady that cleaned my teeth did an amazing job and was very pleasant.

I agree that the people and service are great here. However, you may pay more than you bargained for... a lot more. During my cleaning I had the insurance specialist come out and speak to me personally. After getting quotes for subsequent work, I agreed to have some fillings replaced and paid the amount quoted - a few hundred dollars. But months later I get an additional bill for several thousand dollars! Oops, the insurance specialist was wrong and I got, not only drilled, but screwed. So be careful with accuracy of the quotes you get.

Shenandoah Family Dentistry is a first rate operation. Dr. Pell is technically advanced, has superb patient interactions and pays close attention to the work of his staff (to the point of teaching them even as he proceeds). I would recommend this practice without reservation.

I wouldnt recommend Shenandoah Family Dentistry to anyone, they are extremely pushy for their services and are over priced ( not competitive ) with other local dentists in the area.They arent fairly priced, they charge double what insurance covers. Bottom line is that I went there for a teeth whitening treatment, was pushed into 2 other procedures before the whitening, with a verbal guarantee from Dr. Pell that I would extremely satisfied with the whitening results. The results werent even close to what I was expecting.

I had an cleaning appointment today with Becky. She is an amazing dental hygienist. I always have a good experience when she does my cleaning. She does a very thorough job. After the cleaning, Dr. Bohrer followed up and as always he is very professional and also takes the time to ask about my family. Very good experience with Shenandoah Family Dentistry & Dr. Pell. He has been my dentist now for quite a few years. I find him to be very professional, respectful, polite and caring. The staff is always professional and polite as well. He and staff are very good in calming your nerves and making you feel more at ease during any procedure. They have state of the art dentistry and a lovely facility. While I have insurance I know there are those who do not and they offer a program for those uninsured to help with their dental needs. I was impressed by that. They reach out to the community with events. I have never had any issues here and would recommend Shenandoah Family Dentistry.

Great experience with great care and consideration for the patients there as the staff took precautionary measures making sure the office was clean and sanitary during the visit. I personally had Katie for my appointment along with Dr. Pell and they were both friendly and made me feel right at home striking up some pleasant conversation.

Such a great experience at this office! Bohrer and Tanya are such a great team and were very nice and reassuring. Had my first deep cleaning with Marissa last week and couldnt have been any better. Her main focus was my comfort the entire time. It was a lengthy visit because of the type of cleaning but she was so friendly and upbeat the entire time. The visit flew by so fast. I am not as scared to go back for the other half of the cleaning next week. I cant thank Shenandoah Family Dentistry enough!! I will tell everyone about this office. I never thought I would find a dentist that I could stay with long term. So glad I found this office!! Even my husband wants to go after I told him how my visits have gone.
