5 stars for being the only gym around. Walls are short but the setters do a pretty good job of adding traversing sections to the routes. Gym has the 90s grunge and edgy climber feel with Metallica and nirvana routinely on the stereo. Its a sweat shop during summer which is good for my gut and bad for my sends. Very reasonable prices for everything. Charles is very nice, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I wish there was a facebook group for people who climb here so i can get in touch with new partners, and more planned climbing nights throughout the week. Anyways, i love this gym and will stop rambling now. Climb here.
Check out this dirtbags paradise! This hidden gem features top rope and bouldering routes with new routes added regularly. Membership, day passes. and a punch card are available to fit your needs.Features: Gear shop and rentals available. A plethora of cold drinks for cheap. Kids can sign up for after school clinics. & Members have access to a small gym space.Love this spot, I have a membership which offers the best value and have regularly used the gym for the past couple of months.
Surprisingly amazing shoe rentals, chalk bag rentals, and the walls are like none Ive ever seen anywhere else. The wall texture has realistic rock like curvature and coarseness. Staff was also fantastic.
It has been a long time since Ive climbed. Nice place to get back at it. Clearly marked sets.
My family came here to climb for the first time and had an amazing evening! We booked the family time slot with 4 kids age 5-10 and was asked immediately after leaving when we are going back for round 2. A must for anyone looking for something fun to do! Special thanks to staff Alexis! She was extremely helpful and even cheered them all on.
Great simple gym with everything you need to train, friendly staff.
The staff is always helpful and friendly and created that atmosphere throughout. I went alone for a change and quickly joined a fun group on the boulder problems. Nice route setting 👌 (V5 and below at least 😉)
Highly recommended for any climbers in the area
My family met here yesterday for my sons birthday. My girlfriend and I have both received the Moderna vaccines (both doses) and even though we do not have to carry those cards we did yesterday just in case as the vaccines are still somewhat new and scarce. The lady at the sign-in desk was nice and asked us to put masks on. We did without argument and then I approached her and explained we we vaccinated and although we don’t have to show any proof I would do so for her piece of mind. She responded with “yeah, I still need you to wear a mask. It’s something we make everyone do.”Meanwhile, all customers enter through the same door, get water from the same cooler or refrigerator, and climb on the same holds without any of these being cleaned or sanitized in between uses. I also noticed several people go in and out of the restrooms with no employee entering after to clean. For a business that is so worried about covid or covid restrictions that it doesn’t care if you have been vaccinated, the rest of their operations were inconsistent and contradictory. The only reason we stayed was this was an activity for our son’s birthday. We will not return.
Friendly staff and welcoming community. Its been a long time since Ive been climbing so I was nervous getting back in a gym. Staff and fellow climbers were all really encouraging. Will be returning!
First time there I loved it. This will be my new hangout LOL. Staff is very friendly and welcoming
The staff was really helpful to us newbies. They were friendly, kind, patient and encourage us. I am afraid of heights and I reach the top with their help. I will definitely be returning..
Great people and great climbing! Kind of like the Cheers of climbing gyms, where everyone is welcome and everyone knows your name.
Really neat walls and a wide variety of routes, difficulties and holds. It looks somewhat sketchy from the outside and it doesnt have the polished appearance of some climbing gyms, but this place is great for anyone who wants to get on the climbing wall and hone their skills. The floors are very well-padded and all the ropes looked brand new. Since the walls are only 20 feet high, they dont offer lead climbing but there are lots of top ropes set up so youre likely to find an open route even when its busy.
Friendly and helpful staff. (And friendly and helpful gym members too!)Nice variety of both bouldering and top rope route difficulty levels throughout the space.VERY reasonable pricing on day passes and rental gear! The facility is located in a warehouse type building which can get hot at times, so prepare accordingly. There are additional aspects of the gym that give it that “a little rough around the edges” feel, but I think it adds to the charm of the place.
Just completed our top rop/belay class and it was awesome. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Very laid back atmosphere. We are looking forward to enjoying our membership.
Started coming here to start getting over my fear of heights and it was worth it. Everyone there was nice. The different routes were labeled accurately and fun challenges. Great price for single day visits.
These guys put in a lot of work to set interesting routes, and fit a variety of wall styles into their space. Bouldering routes and top rope for all levels, as well as a back room with barbell/dumbbell gear make this an excellent 1 stop shop for fun fitness.
So fun! Theres finally a rock gym in town and it doesnt disappoint. Lots of fun, varied routes for both beginners, intermediates and advanced climbers and boulderers. The employees are so nice and will always give you advice on a route, gear, or local climbing spots.
Very cute gym. Me and my wife decided to stretch after long drive from DC to Wilmington. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The routes and bouldering problems are well thought out with fun and challenging moves.
Took my son here and the staff was great and he has a blast. Its a fairly small place and hard to find but worth it. We will be returning soon.
Great gym for the rock climbing enthusiast in Wilmington
A great place to learn climbing. One of the instructors worked with my daughter while I did the belay class. Good time for both of us. Has bouldering too.
While its a small gym, they have maximized the spaces potential. Love WRG, great & helpful staff. You easily can find me here 2/3 times a week.
I’m so glad Wilmington has a gym! It’s all you need, quaint, affordable, with a friendly staff & a good diversity of difficulty in the routes. Check it out!
My boy loved this!
Much needed in the area! The bouldering is great, and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help out! Check this place out! Great for all ages!
We have been going since they opened. Staff is awesome! My family has a great time climbing in the gym!
I had a great time here! The instructors are really educated and helpful and its a great price!
This place is amazing! My son just went here for a friends birthday, and it was so much fun!
We recently celebrated our sons 8th birthday at Wilmington Rock Gym. The kids had the best time and were talking about it for days. Haley and Meredith were wonderful wrangling the group of rowdy 8 year old boys. They got to play games and rock climb. What more could you ask for. Afterwards there is a separate room for pizza and cake. I would highly recommend this business for a party for all ages. Hope to go back soon.
I love the 5:30 to 8:30 hours, now I can climb again!! Great place, friendly staff
This was my first time rock climbing and I had alot of fun, even though my arms are sore.
Staff is mellow and friendly and the music is pretty damn solid as well!
Friendly place to go, fun for the whole family.
The only bad thing is the smell😉
Loads of fun and a nice staff
Best and only rock gym in Wilmington!
Great and helpful staff.
