Love the water aerobics, swimming pool, and group classes, like Zumba and yoga. Must register online or call for group classes. Friendly, helpful staff. Senior citizens and family-centered.
I attended this facility to have physical therapy performed my Marcus. Amazing! He is patient, calm, attentive, and thorough. He does a technical called needling, amazing! Cant say enough good thinks about him.
Sparkling clean, state of art equipment, great staff...upbeat happy environment...I love this gym
My first time at this YMCA was a few years back after they had suffered a pretty bad fire. The only part that I had the opportunity to see back then was the basketball court and it was in good shape.I wanted to check on joining this YMCA for the times of the year I am in town and came in today. I was given a tour by Natasha who was very helpful and thorough with her tour. This YMCA boasts racketball courts, a basketball court (with multiple activities on the courts), spacious and modern locker rooms, a weight room, a cardio room, a cycling and rowing room, an exercise class room, and a yoga classroom. That is a lot of stuff and I may still be forgetting something.I was mostly interested in the weight lifting area and the cardio area. The areas are small compared to local gyms and I can see it getting really cramped if you come around 4pm-7pm. That is not the time I was there today, but I imagine it gets busy around those times. The free weights and machines are fairly new and they are in good shape. There isnt a ton of variety, but you can hit all the body parts just fine. The cardio section had treadmills, rowing machines, bikes, a Jacobs Ladder, a stair stepper, and some other machines. There is a 30 minute limit on machines during busy hours, but I was told that it is rarely, if ever, enforced because there is no need.I asked about membership rates and they are rather high for someone who mainly wants a large selection of weight machines and cardio machines, but if you wanted access to all the other rooms, classes, and activities then it seems super fair. They apparently have an app to sign up for classes and that probably comes in super useful for most members.Overall, this is a really nice location with a lot going for it. I definitely look forward to using it when I am in town.
The staff is friendly and the whole place is very clean. Ive been a Y member in 4 states and this is the best one so far.
We went here for our daughters first swim lesson. Bingham is a very nice instructor and the facility is very clean and inviting.
Worst y Ive been to in the states... closer to a planet fitness
Great facility, lots of activities, and childcare. Also an indoor pool.
Great place to spend the day with the family. They offer swimming, racquetball, basketballs and all your exercising needs. Theres a great steam room, sauna and hot tub available as well.Only a $10 guest fee to visit and pretty inexpensive membership for long term residents. They offer plenty of free and paid class which include things like yoga and spin.
Nice people, and every exercise machine you could want. Plus classes
Love the Y! Great classes and the staff goes above and beyond
They do a great job keeping all safe
Very nice facility with good equipment, nice locker rooms, pool, and exercise classes.
Showed up from out of town and they treated me like family.
We had basketball tryouts here. Looks to be a nice place.
Beautiful state of the art Facility.
Im editing because they mostly made right the fees. I probably will be keeping my membership on hold until one can go without a reservation. I know their strict covid restrictions are probably for the best for everyone, but being a bus rider and extremely shy, sharing a lap lane isnt going to be on my want to do list.
So many ways to work out.
Me and my family come here all the time, the staff is friendly. The equipment is nice and up to date, the pool is wonderful as well as the hot tub. They have a lot of great services they provide for families and children like summer camp, the childrens area for you to do your workout and swim lessons, also many more. Go check em out
Great staff and facility.
Clean n nice
Great place. Very friendly people.
Absolutely wonderful! So many things to do, I could spend all day here... Just pack a lunch and get ready to get fit and have fun! Family pool, lap pool, hot tub (18+), weights, strength machines, new models of treadmills and ellipticals, basketball courts, steam room, sauna, lockers... I mean thats like 7 hours of fun, easy--just pack a lunch!
Mona starts my day out right M-F
This is a very nice and new YMCA that has great equipment and overall great amenities. However, a gym this size really should have a towel service and lock provided for the lockers. There’s also no indoor track which is unfortunate. Steam room and sauna are a nice touch.
We put our membership on hold, I don’t see paying for a Membership if I can’t use it the staff was very rude. And address me as they needed my money..as I told them why would I pay for something I can’t use..I have always found the staff here rude and very unprofessional,, this is a small Y no reason to have your high horse attitude, been to many very large YMCA and was ran very well.. without the attitude
Best in town
I love the Nir Family YMCA. Great facilities though weights area and pool can get a bit crowded. I love the steam, sauna, and spa pool. Very good spinning instructors.
Like most gyms in Wilmington, they get packed majority of the day. I have always enjoyed the Y due to its multiple choices in one facility. The one area that looks like they only put it there because they had to was the weight room. The machines are stacked on top of each other making it hard to workout when busy. Also as the area is about as large as two living rooms and it gets packed feeling when 10 people are in there.
Stopped in here for a quick shower after camping at the beach. Staff (didnt get names) went out of their way to welcome and accommodate us. Facilities were very clean and we left happy. Thanks guys for the hospitality.
Just wish there was more parking. I really appreciate the childcare provided free for members. My toddler is going through a major seperation anxiety phase and the staff handles it really well. Love the pool and splash pad. Every class Ive tried has been top notch. Overall this facility is amazing.
Newly renovated and well kept location. Steam and Sauna rooms well maintained. A rare commodity in ILM health clubs.Enjoyed!
Beautiful facility! Helpful staff. The locker rooms, showers and all equipment are so clean. The steam room is AMAZING! I love this Y👍🏼
The new YMCA is really nice. Just be careful with what time you go. 5-7 PM is like a overgrown juice bar for men who think they are hulk. Literally a bunch if people standing around waiting in line to simply use a machine to work out. Mornings and later in the night are great times to go however. Cool place and has a pool, sauna, steam room, and a hot tub.
Nice building but they have too much equipment shoved into a small weight room. Staff very uncooperative, not well trained, will not return phone calls. Very self entitled staff but do not want to take responsibility.Kids play in the weight room unattended, sit on the equipment playing on their phones.
Nice and fancy but no free towels... they will sell you one for 5 dollars... yeah ok. No vent on the chlorine bomb of a hot tub
Hard to work out giving 24 hours notice
Don’t try to visit there from another state! As a traveling nurse they are the ONLY YMCA IN OVER 20 states that have tried to bully me out of money! You should be ashamed at first saying it’s about Covid when it was obviously about $! I pay my current $46/month and you want me to pay twice!? I’ll never give you a dime and I’ll be sure to share this at all the gyms I visit in the area!
Love the ymca summer soccer program. Staff is amazing. My son has been going every summer for 6 years. Prices are very reasonable.
Newly renovated and looks really good. The staff are personable and helpful! Its very clean and has a variety of classes from exercise, yoga, dance and more!
Friendly welcoming staff. Facility is well maintained. Great place to learn & play pickleball.
It’s nice! Good classes and personal training!! It’s just a little pricey!
My child attends aftercare and summer care. Katie and the crew is awesome. You cant go wrong there. They are fair and they really care about the kids.
LOVE the preschool program! Ms Cheryl is so patient, and you can tell she enjoys the kids. My granddaughter is learning a lot, and looks forward to going.
Awesome ymca time to open up everything Democrat blown out of proportion virus
The fire of two years ago has not been repaired. Split into 3 locations, portable shower rooms at the one pool. Hope it gets better
My family really enjoys the indoor family pool. Courteous staff. Very clean facility.
Ok so to be clear: this place burned down. As of March 2018 there is just a lap pool and spa with temporary locker rooms portables installed. I wish this had been more clear. If you want to exercise, you have to drive up the street about 6 minutes.
Its a great place to do your exercise routine, its clean and has good equipment!
Great place and Lee Spooner is awesome. He runs a great soccer program.
Stopped by to see the newly renovated YMCA and ask about membership.
So far worst experience ever for customer service. First time client and I had to literally ask several times about everything. There was no tour given, no explanation of how childcare works nothing. I signed up online and came in. I basic stood there for several moments in front of someone. Il change my review if I notice any difference. I felt like I was bothering them when it’s there job to help.Facility is nice. But what’s a nice facility if you don’t know where anything else or anything about it.
Great staff, huge selection of classes and programs, nice equipment, lots of things to do.
I LOVE THE YMCA. Great sense of community. Tons of classes to choose from. Always clean. Friendly staff!
Recently renovated YMCA with a bright modern interior, brand new changing rooms, newly renovated pool etc. Friendly staff, and reasonably priced membership.
Clean and tons of classes and equipment. Pleasantly surprised
Love it
Love the Y
Clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly.
Love the YMCA.. great facility. Great people
No good
Pool is great but the locker room is gross.
New facility, great services and programs.
My son with special needs was neglected at this camp. Spoke with camp director about my concerns and nothing was solved. Would not recommend this camp for small children or children with special needs.
I made my first visit to the new YMCA. It unfortunately has some of the old issues from the last YMCA on Kerr and Market. I have taken away 2 stars for 2 major issues at this YMCA. First, this is a first class facility and as such should have first class amenities. A YMCA this large should have towel service. With 3 people working the front desk no reason to not have them working a laundry and folding in between other duties. Second - An issue that has come from the old Wilmington YMCA is male patrons entering the sauna and steam rooms with full PT gear on. This has already created a stench in these rooms. And its hard to get rid of. The only thing these rooms should smell of is the added methanol smell some YMCAs use or nothing at all. Second - patrons should be dousing themselves in the shower before entering. If you want to sweat more in your PT gear get more exercise. Don’t use steam room and sauna for this. Lastly - dropping of weights on the 2nd floor. This drives me insane. The YMCA needs big signs for DO NOT DROP THE WEIGHTS. PLEASE. Lastly the staff is very friendly and the gym has a lot of potential but needs work and or new management to nip this problems in the butt.I would also add the hours for Sunday are a bit archaic - I get that this is a church going community, I love that, I embrace that, but many want to get their days started early in the morning on Sundays and that means being able to work out early - an 8am opening would be fantastic, 10am would be fine, but 1pm is a bit outdated. The gym, raquetball and other areas look top notch, it also looks like the areas for child care are nice as well. I hope this YMCA can thrive and address some of the minor issues and take their wellness center up to a 5 star experience.UPDATE:On Sunday August 18, 2019 I was at the NIR YMCA and as I came in inquired about the closing time. I was told they were open until 7pm. I stopped my workout at 6:45PM and left myself time to shower and get out of the YMCA. At 6:50PM - Alan - YMCA staff comes into the showers saying theyre closed. I knew damn well it wasnt 7:00PM yet. I finish up and myself and a few other men were in the locker at 6:55PM and Alan proceeds to go over to the fire alarm in the Mens Locker Room and set it off. It was so loud it was painful to the ears - myself and the other members were furious to say the least as we were not malingering on purpose. I walked outside to find the Wilmington Fire Dept waiting. I told the driver of the fire truck what had happened and that Alan intentionally set off the alarm to drive guests out. I also called Wilmington 911 and explained to them the situation for their records.Personally, if I was the director of this YMCA - Id fire Alan without question. This is absurd. I realize you close at 7pm and its routine to allow members to dress at most YMCAs if it takes a few extra minutes.Ive never seen this in my 44 years, at any YMCA. The level of unprofessionalism is breathtaking.
Great place to spend family time
New facility looks great! May be crowded in January as most gyms will be.
Clean, so many options for fitness, great staff
Just there for youth soccer games. Very impressed with area and staff.
Clean facitily with vending machine pools basketball court soccer field etc.
Horrible... i just cant deal will all this people going there. specially swim teams... they there all the time.... taking all lanes... they change schedule how they want... add parties, etc.. I cant fallow they changes like that... When I got to swim I want to swim! not adjust to there schedule and search for changes like on there facebook, etc.. I dont have time for this... Team couch was rude to me when I asked him about schedule... because they was there longer then it was scheduled!!!! like this is ridiculous... I canceled my membership and I will never be back

They were so busy. Nice but short staffed for new facility.
They even have a machine to dry your bathing suit
Comprehensive,clean and comfortable
