My 3 star rating is actually a 2.5 rounded up. Regardless, when looking for places to live, this was marketed as a quiet, laid back community. Little did I know, this wasnt the case. Almost every weekend my floors have rattled due to the music played by neighbors. I have a dryer that burns my clothes (have requested it to be fixed several times... to no avail), and catch a contact high when walking up the stairs to my apartment. If you have kids, appreciate your clothing, or like a peaceful nights sleep, this may not be the place for you. Stay safe!
Just moved in here 01/01/2019 and we love our neighbors, and love the inside of the apartment. Yea, we get the occasional cockroach or earwig, but that’s almost every apartment complex in Wilmington; we live near tons of water. At first, we loved the area in and around Holton Place Condos, but then we payed attention more to the surrounding community. We live in one of the first buildings, and even super close to the road there has been a few break-ins recently. I honestly wouldn’t advise someone not to move here per say, but definitely be cautious. We like it here, and it was more peaceful at the beginning of the year, but there has been some stuff going down. It seems like the dangerousness of some parts Market street is creeping in.
Since John Psilos took over as HOA president 4 or 5 years ago this place looks like a slum. Theres no lawn maintenance at all. He paid $50,000 to put in water meters then didnt use them. He paid to replace the decks only to have them replaced again a few months later by a different company without getting any money back from the first place. There is a retaining wall behind one of the buildings that badly needs repair but he hasnt done it. There are massive vines growing behind two of the buildings but he wont get those cut down either even though it was done once a year before he took over. The last property manager resigned because he wouldnt let her keep up the maintenance on the property. The dues increased to $185.00 per month per condo at the last meeting. There are 188 condos so that means he gets $34,780 per month yet the place is run-down. Something doesnt add up here. I would never buy or rent in this place. Its being run into the ground. There are many other things going on but they are too numerous to name here. Before this guy came along, Holton Place was being maintained pretty nicely.
Very nice area I would love to live there myself
Friendly, safe community. Close to everything.
Crime ridden element. Sketchy tenants.
I love it it has a pool
