Today at 11am was my first time using this barber shop and I will be returning. Tiffany was absolutely amazing, super sweet, friendly, and kind. She listened, paid attention to detail, and went the extra mile to make sure she had a happy customer. Wish I was going here all along! ⚫️🔵⚫️

Ive been going to Dukes ever since I moved to the area over a year ago. Service is great, haircuts are even better, and very affordable. Everyone that works there has been super friendly. I couldnt have picked a better barbershop.

A great guys and boys only atmosphere and woodsy styled shop with some very pleasant female barbers. They charge the same Senior price of $14 as Supercuts but here they have someone answering the phone so your barber doesnt have to.

They are following the coronavitis protocol. You need a mask that loops behind your ears. The ladies all do a great job.

I left Dukes and the service was exceptional,the staff was amazing..... Krystel did such a great job..... Then played me in a game of pool after..... She lost...baaaad lol.... Im a DJ and would be proud to rock this cut on stage anyway! Now Im scheduled every two weeks to get cut and designed .....love you girls.... Positive Vibes Only!!! Would give a better rating if they were actually open during store hours. Im not the only one to experience this as other reviews of also said theyve showed up and the place is randomly closed.

I have been searching for the best place for a haircut and Dukes Barbershop is absolutely that place! Guys if you are looking for a place where you can be a guy and look like a gentleman when you leave you have to go to Dukes! Great customer service and facility! Great knowledge and skill by the staff! Thank you to Sarah today for making me look my best and taking the time to do her best!! I will absolutely be back and I would highly recommend Dukes Barbershop to every guy I know!

Nice place

All these people writing bad reviews have no idea what they’re talking about. This shop is the ONLY shop in Hampton roads that has done exactly what my boyfriend was asking for. Sarah was extremely professional, she took her time, she asked questions and listened to what we were saying. I am a cosmetologist but I can not fade. I just never learned how. She listened to everything I was explaining to her and knew exactly what I was trying to say. She was a huge help and finding this shop is a huge relief honestly. This is also the cleanest shop I have ever seen. These women actually know what they’re doing. They don’t just pretend. Sarah was awesome and so professional and friendly. She was also very respectful. We will be driving up there from Newport News every two weeks. It’s 100% worth it.

This place is decent...when it’s open. When Duke’s is open, I receive a decent haircut at a reasonable price. But they have changed hours recently and they are randomly closed during the week on occasion. The also do not update their outgoing voicemail with store hours around holidays, so it’s a crapshoot if they are open. Just this past week I drove over on my one day off when they open at 9am...they were “open”, but another customer and I were told inexplicably that they wouldn’t have a barber in until 10am. It’s a twenty minute drive for me one way to this place, and I wasn’t even given an apology or explanation. A coupon or some kind of olive branch would have been a good faith gesture on their part, it oh well. I will NOT be patronizing this business in the future.

I found Sarah awhile ago and ever since then I’ve always gone to her. She’s the nicest person. She’s the only hair stylist that actually does what I ask to be done instead of “well this will look better” or “are you sure?” No matter when I need an appointment, where I am, or how booked she and/or the shop is, she ALWAYS finds a way to squeeze me in. 10/10 if you’re ever looking for an amazing, friendly, kind, girl to cut your hair I recommend Sarah.

I had got my haircut at other places and it was never what I wanted. A friend of mine told me about this place and I found out that a lady whocut myhair a long timeago works there. Iasked her about it andshe told me where it is and I went and got my haircut doneby Krystel for the first time in a long time. The shop is very nice and it was a great experience, I cant waitto go back again!

My husband and I stopped by Duke’s this morning and he got his haircut. Katie did a fantastic job and the front desk staff was very pleasant. We will definitely be going back. Thank you all for such a great experience!

Two stars only for the women being extremely friendly. Im in town avoiding the Florida hurricane and needed a barber to do my beard. I just feel like this was more of a hair salon experience then a typical barber experience. $23 JUST FOR MY BEARD and my beard would have looked much better if I just used a $10 set of Walmart clippers and done it myself. I have been to some of the best barbers in the country and paid less for the best service and cut or beard trim you can get. I wasnt expecting that kind of service, but expected a decent result. If youre looking for someplace with nice people to get your kids haircut before school, or an old guy that doesnt really care, Id possibly recommend this place. If youve ever been to a legit barber before and expect that experience and result,,,, this is NOT the place for you. I just spent $28 after tip, and Im sitting in the parking lot writing this review and contemplating going to another barbershop right now to have it done correctly.

My haircut at Dukes Barber Shop was wonderful! I was given a warm welcome as I walked in and the wait wasnt long at all. My barber/stylist was a young girl, she did a wonderful job on my haircut and Ive always had a tough time trying to find the right person the cut my hair and she did such a wonderful job. She was great at keeping a conversation going with me. If youre looking for a great person to cut your hair I would recommend the young girl that cut my hair! Sorry the other two comments were not very nice but I would at least give it another chance and maybe see a different person that works there instead? I will be back to get another great haircut!

Might seem minor, but its things like this that communicate to the public that youre an unreliable establishment and we would be better off finding another go-to we can depend on. Such an easy thing to get right...

Au contraire. Jacques gives the best haircut I have had in a long time. This is the place Ive been looking for. Of course, I take a classic mens cut, no frills. $14.00.In the Day the barber used to finish the job with a straight razor trim of the back of the neck. I dont think Ive seen this for ?30 years? I dont miss it.

This is the local shop where my excellent hair goddess moved to from sport clips. Mia is fantastic at hair, even makes me look good.

I paid $21 for a simple buzz cut and shave with electric razors and was told it cost EXTRA for a straight-edge razor. The guy got my sideburns way uneven and excused himself by saying it wasnt all that easy. Got cut up a little by the electric equipment, so I should probably be glad I didnt pay extra to get cut even worse by a straight-edge.

I just went there and the girl cutting my hair was so nice and friendly and she gave the best haircut i’ve ever gotten!

I called at 1245 asking for availability and was told all day. Show up at 1p and they’re closed for the lunch hour with no mention of it during the phone call.

Ok, I usually do not write reviews for places. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt but this time was too bad to be that courteous. I am new to the area and wanted a good haircut and a straight shave. The man I had barely spoke to me the entire time. I came out with my left side burn gone and the right side there but uneven. What the heck! Then when it came down to the shave and I thought ok maybe this will be better I didnt realize I could ever be so wrong. He didnt prepare the razor at all and didnt prepare my face properly. I was so cut up that I left the shop still bleeding. Not only was my barber terrible but the rest of the staff looked absolutely miserable there. I didnt even want to give this place the poor/fair rating because I feel that was giving this place to high of a rating that it didnt deserve. Im sorry if anyone that works there has to read this post but you should seriously consider if its worthwhile for you to stay in business. Since another reviewer seemed to have the same experience I did.

Worst customer service in the world. Came in 20 min before closing a refused to give me a hair cut. Told me i could come in the next day and saidwe wilp be open all day tomorrow got there today and there closed. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever.

Well, I first Id like to say some of the negative comments are completely irrelevant and unessisary. We dont care about how privileged and special you think you are when it comes to comparing Dukes to the best barber shops in the country. Thats a bit steep and probably not true anyways. Im sorry, I would choose Dukes over any of the annoying franchise hair-cuttery establishments and dirty rundown barbershops that are suffocating the Hampton Roads area. Which these places dont even offer the straight razor services. Ive been to them all and had my haircut by any and all, and I can tell you Ive never been been more satisfied. Sarah did an amazing job. She can fade better than most male barbers. She was even considerate to fix my bad haircut I had received two weeks prior. The struggle was real and now I can say Ive found a barshop that is nothing like the rest in the area. Clean, vintage, modernized, boutique barbershop, friendly, razor services, punch card-10th haircut service is free, walk ins and appt. Hours do seem to vary, but they are willing to work with you if you ask. Great place.

Okay haircuts. Business hours seem sporadic and unreliable though. Staff are friendly, though. If there were a mainstream hair Cuttery nearby, they would be out of business sadly. Only go here because it is the closest to my home.
