I couldn’t believe we hadn’t been here after living in the community for more than a decade. Now that my youngest daughter is a snake enthusiast we had to go. I have never seen such well cared for animals, clean cages, and knowledgeable staff. Mr. McCarthy was even outside welcoming us as we entered and saying farewell as we left. They even have a wonderful gift shop. You can tell that this is a labor of love and they are doing this for all the right reasons. Olivia was a fantastic guide as well!

This is a must visit when in the area. Great people who care for these animals. Better than visiting a zoo.

Wow!! My family had a wonderful time getting up close and learning all about the animals. Lisa was a fabulous guide, and took time to answer questions. Everyone I met was passionate about these animals and their mission. We never felt rushed and we got to meet every animal in the park. I loved hearing the stories about how they were rescued, and how they got their names. Seeing the way the animals respond to the guides leads me to believe they are well cared for. The place was very clean, and the animals looked very healthy. So much better than visiting a zoo!! We will definitely go back on future trips!

Great, informed tour guide. The animals were amazing and beautiful. We were able to observe them running around, talking, slithering, and even eating. The bathrooms were very well kept.

Upon a random search of fun outdoor things to do on google, I stumbled upon this place which is set in far west wpb in a neighborhood with a dirt road. Certainly not something I’d expect to see in over developed sofla these days. You more or less enter a backyard through a large fence into this other realm filled with a vast array of animal as you would never think to see around these parts. While it’s very reminiscent and feels like something you would see in a Netflix documentary, you can get the feel that the care takers really care for the animals. Most are rescued from careless owners, etc. It is a wild experience and worth a visit.

Such an awesome experience! We really enjoyed our visit. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and grounds were all kept. The animal enclosures looked like they were nicely maintained. Definitely an experience I would do again.

We visited the center yesterday snd took a noon tour. The Wildlife Sanctuary is fantastic! All of the various species of animals were fantastic. The methods of care for the various species was spectacular AND our guide, LISA was terrific. Lisa was informative, caring, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her work and she cared about all of us as well! Most up close and personal encounters with amazing animals including tigers, jaguars, parrots, turtles, birds and reptiles. Very engaging and knowledgeable guide and well maintained place!

Went with my friends and family and had a great time! They take great care of their animals here at the Sanctuary! Our tour guide was very well-informed, nice, and funny (male in his 20s, so sorry I cant remember his name)! The animals are beautiful and you can tell they are relaxed and happy. The tour lasts almost 2 hours and the price is well worth it since your money goes towards taking care of the animals! Make sure you get something at the gift shop to support them! Would definitely recommend!

This was me & my families 1st time visiting...the bathrooms were clean..I like that they had hand sanitizer all around. Our tour guide was Lisa, she was very pleasant & very informative regarding the animals.. She made the tour entertaining by interacting with some of the animals. It was cool being able to hold a few of the animals 😊 The animals appear to be well taken care of. We enjoyed it & they make you feel welcomed. We definitely contributed by buying a few of the beautiful necklaces they have in the gift shop.I recommend...

This is an excellent activity for the entire family (subject to certain age restrictions for children). Tour guides are highly knowledgeable relevant to the care and background of the various animals that are presented on the tour. The grounds are very clean, and Covid protocol is strictly observed. All animal are well fed and seem to enjoy the opportunity to observe the tourists as much as tourists enjoy watching the animals. This is a great change of pace and is an opportunity to see and learn about some endangered species. Allow plenty of time and enjoy the tour followed by a stop in the gift shop. Bring your own food, water and sunscreen, and youre good to go.

Incredible! The place is immaculate and you can tell they love the animals and the animals live them. Groups are small and you are with in 4 feet of the animals.

We went a few years ago and had a great tour. Small group, about 10 of us. Got close to all the animals, held sulcata tortoises, snakes, petted a funny fox. Would highly recommed. Guide knew so much about the animals as individuals.

Highly recommend this place. We have gone there twice and had a great experience each time. The staff is very knowledgeable and very close to the animals, they know their story and you can tell that all animals know the people who work there too. You get very close to the animals, and you are able to hold many animals.

ALEXIS DOES NOT SKIP A BEAT! This was by far the most amazing thing I have ever done. Not only is the sanctuary very clean and spacious, but our guide Alexis was so knowledgeable and friendly to our group that included a variety of ages. I especially appreciated that she took the time to tell the group about the animals back stories and explained how they ended up at the Sanctuary. All of the animals were very healthy and happy. You can tell that the owner and staff care deeply about the animals and their environment. Every year when I go to Florida this will be forever on my to do again list!

We went here as a spur of the moment idea without realizing you needed a reservation, they did their beat and fit us in the same day, beautiful sanctuary, a lot of animals and our guide Jess did her best to go to the animals when they were awake! Mostly big cat which is what we wanted! Absolutely amazing time!

Lisa was our tour guide. The place is an amazing display of variation in the world of animals. We were granted a ton of information of each animal on display and the mini-shows Lisa did with the animals shows how well the sanctuary takes care of each animal individually. Great experience and will definitely be back as soon as we can be. 10/10 experience.

This was so much fun for our group! We were looking for something to do in the area and decided it was worth the little trip out for a private tour. Our guide, Lisa, took us through everything and she was so engaging and informative! The two-hour guided tour was filled with many wonderful animals, most all of which have intriguing stories. Guide Ashley was very informative and exceedingly amusing. All of the animals are obviously well cared for. I have brought many out-of-town guests and it never disappoints.

A really good sanctuary. i mostly love it for the reptiles and birds of prey. Takes great care of their animals, staff is very educated and dedicated to the well being of their animals. And they have awesome animals that they work with such as big cats, grey foxes, snakes, crocodilians, lizards, birds of prey. If anyone says that they abuse their animals (Cough 911animal abuse), tell them to go to hell. They even have mojave rattlesnakes, cape cobras, bushmasters, and many awesome animals. If you are ever in the west palm beach area or live in florida, this place will leave a very good impression and passion for wildlife.

Great opportunities to get up close with rare animals. They had one of the best Venomous snake collections I have ever seen. Animals look very healthy and well fed. Definitely recommend coming here!

What a fantastic experience. Lets start with the pristine condition of the animals, their cages and the 8 acres of grounds. The pride that is put into this wildlife sanctuary is evident. There is a diverse group of animals on exhibit, all so well fed and cared for. The tour is very informative and their knowledge of the animals is extensive. You are able to get so close to the animals, unlike any other facility. McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-see, nothing comes close.

Had a lot of fun at this place! Its clean, the animals were happy, healthy and loved, and the staff was knowledgeable and fun! You need a reservation for a tour because they dont really aim to make money. Its a non-profit organization which focuses on the well-being of the animals (rehabilitation, research). This is a great place to learn about animals and their mission reflects kindness and respect towards animals. Thank you, guys! Special mention to Jessica, our tour guide. She was just wonderful! The tour was so much fun! Huge variety of animals, from various big cats to Gila Monsters, monkeys, and birds. The staff was well informed and able to answer almost every question my tour group could think of.

We visited McCarthy’s upon my niece’s recommendation. The experience far exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide Alexis was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Her love for these animals was very evident.

Third year in a row going to this sanctuary. The enclosures are clean and the animals are well taken care of. Until people stop keeping exotics as pets, aces like this will be necessary. Fortunately, McCarthys is a really nice one. Kids love it because of interaction with the animals.

Lisa provided us with an interesting and entertaining tour through the facility. This place has some of the most critically endangered wildlife in the world, such as the Amur leopard and the Snow Leopard which hold wild populations between 500 to a few thousands. This place takes amazing care of their animals and it’s clear that everyone that works there is passionate for this work. Highly recommend taking some time to go check out!

A MUST SEE. At first I thought the animals should of had bigger areas BUT these animals were keep as pets-some in cages so small they could hardly move. They were Not use to the wild -so that being said, they are in a good place w/all their needs cared for by loving people &workers.Go visit. If U cant toletate the hot weather- try visiting in the winter months.

I cannot say enough good things about McCarthy’s! This is literally my all-time favorite place. If you are an animal person, you HAVE to go.All of the tour guides are incredible. You can see that they really love and care about these animals by the way the animals respond to them. The enclosures are always clean and well-kept and all of the animals look healthy and happy. You’ll have the opportunity to be up close with many animals and have hands on encounters with many others. For the price, you cannot beat it!!!On top of their awesome tours, I also called when I found a parakeet that could not fly wandering around an elementary school campus. No questions asked, they agreed to take the bird and stayed a few minutes late to ensure that I could drop the parakeet off to them.I have been to McCarthy’s a couple of times and love it so much that I actually celebrated my 24th and 25th birthday here and am planning to celebrate my 26th birthday here as well.

Upon arrival we were surprised on how clean the property was the tour was amazing and very informative and the animals all looked happy the enclosures were all in new condition and clean and if you’re lucky enough to get the tour guide Laura she has all the information on all the animals highly recommend this place for family and Kids. Ask for Laura if possible she was amazing!

Hidden gem! Small groups for a 2 hour tour, lots of opportunities to be closer to many of these animals than youd ever have a chance to otherwise! Guides are knowledgeable and very pleasant, and the cost of admission goes to maintain the park! Love this place!

This place is amazing! The tours are smallgroups which allow you to get very close to the animal enclosures. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable about the animals in general and share the backstory of the big cats. So much better than a zoo or safari and what a wonderful cause to support.

It’s very hard to excite teenagers especially teenager boys and a husband. But this place had my boys and husband very impressed. They talked about this place for hours after visiting.

This was our third visit to McCarthys and was as fabulous as the first. The guides are engaging, and the animals are in the best of health and condition. This is the most up close and personal big cat experience that I know without needing your running shoes. Excellent.

We booked this largely based on other reviews we saw and were not disappointed! This was a two hour tour and our guide was WONDERFUL! It is hard to keep people engaged for two hours but she really did a great job explaining how these animals came to the sanctuary (which was some really interesting stories BTW)As a note I do work in animal rescue myself (although not with these types of big cat / venomous snakes animals!) and I thought all their enclosures appeared to be clean and the animals appeared to be in good care. It was nice to see these animals have a forever home and have the educational component as well.I would highly recommend a visit here!

I took my three littles during Spring Break and the Covid protocols were on point! We had a small group filled with little kids as well. Lisa was amazing and she answered all of the questions and really engaged the audience from tiny tot to grandparents. A perfect activity for a cloudy Saturday!

Small groups on the tour made it very personable. There is a room with snakes but totally optional. There are lots of big cats that you would not be able to see at other places.We really appreciated the level of a respect shown toward the animals.

Amazing Family Activity! I Usually Opt Out Of Family Bonding Time But This Time I Decided To Go Since This Was The First Thing We Could All Agree On Doing Without Arguing. Lisa Was Beyond Amazing! She Was Lively And Knowledgeable And Made The Tour Very Fun! Bring Some Loose Quarters To Feed The Critters In The Pond While You Wait For Your Tour To Start! Me And My Siblings Saw Some Catfish, Gator, And Tons Of Turtles In The Pond So Its Fun To Watch Them All Race Towards The Food, We Got Their 30 Min Early So That Killed Some Time And Was Quite Enjoyable. You Get To Touch Some Cool Animals Along The Way Like Some Snakes, Baby Gators, Turtles, Salamanders, And Even A Kinkajou! Only Thing I Would Say Is If Youre Florida Grown Like Us Youve Probably Touched Most Of These Animals Before (Besides The Kinkajou ) Anyways But Its Nice And Refreshing To Enjoy A Walk Outside And Learn About Animals And Support In Their Conservation. I Did See Another Tour Get To Touch What Looked Like To Me Some Sorta Fox So I Think Different Guides Handle Different Animals So You Might Get To Touch Different Exotic Animals On Your Trip Here. This Sanctuary Is All Donation Based Which Means They Dont Get State Help So Just Keep That In Mind And Dont Forget To Tip Your Guide! Thank You Lisa For Making Family Bonding Day A Little More Bearable! It Was Fun And I Hope The Sanctuary Flourishes!

We had an amazing time at McCarthys! Our tour guide was so informative and fun. Its so wonderful to see all different types of exotic animals. The sanctuary is so clean and so beautiful. You can easily see the love that the employees have for their animals.

Love this place!! I have been there several times will go many more!!!! This is now a “must do” for anyone visiting us from out of town. A friend of ours in a wheelchair got around wonderfully and everyone was so accommodating!
