Matt R was extremely helpful. Despite being very busy he still took the time to assess if my pool was a candidate for a retro-fit autocover. Unfortunately, my pool is not a good candidate, but Matt proved that he is not just looking to sell services. He truly wants what is best for the customer.

I live in the southeast and consulted with Matt merely on design concept after reviewing his posting on installing inground pools in high water tables. Matt was extremely responsive to my questions and even followed up to ask how our project was going. Matts recommendations were directly consistent with my pool companys recommendations. Having such a large investment I just wanted a second opinion to ensure we were going in the right direction. Thanks to Matt for offering his advise even considering I was not a paying customer. Its hard to find this type of service now days!

We purchased a house with an in Ground pool that needed a liner replacement. As soon as we closed (Feb 5) I called to schedule as we wanted to be able to use our new pool this year. I was told we would receive a call/email from accounting to arrange payment for the new liner. I have called MULTIPLE times. They never answer the phone or return calls. I’ve wasted 2 months and now risk not being able to have the liner replaced in time for summer. I understand being busy, but hire more people or simply tell us when we called the first time that they’re not able to accommodate us. I’ve worked in customer service for 15 years and never encountered this poor quality.2 months of not reaching out to us is UNACCEPTABLE. And how are they so busy that the phone ALWAYS goes to voicemail.

Penguin Pools built our pool 12 years ago. We’ve loved every minute of our summers with a pool. They’ve done a great job with repairs, and for the past few years cleaning and maintenance. I would highly recommend them for your pool installation and cleaning and maintenance. Since having them do our chemical balance, we’ve had very few balancing problems. So worth my time and money to have them clean and maintain my pool every summer.

Matt is one of the kindest people you will meet, He truly has a good heart and is willing to go way above and beyond. It is a rare trait. He is honest and hard working to make sure you have a good pool experience. You will not be disappointed.

Two years ago we provided a great review regarding Penguin Pools. Two years later our opinion has NOT changed. Matt, Angela, and the service staff are fantastic and a pleasure to work with. They respond to all our needs, answer all of questions and truly seem to enjoy what they do. We have had a number of neighbors from our subdivision that are interested in a pool ask us about our experience and we insist that they contact Matt at Penguin Pools.

The worst decision ever! Beginning was very nice and friendly then when problems and issues started their top quality service and customer care went down hill. The list is very long. Matt totally flipped after the problems started, his personality changed after he got his money for the build. From the 2nd year after building our pool onwards we got a leak, which they were reluctant to service. Pay them more!!! Its back again. Unbelievable is this that all the expensive equipment they installed have failed once in the last 5 years already. That means either their brand is not top quality or their skills to install or maintain them is sub par or both. They love to blame everything on their customers and never own up to the fact that they screwed up. Act of god is the one phrase they love and use the most to avoid the blame. From year 3 we started to see wrinkles in the pool liner, guess what was their reason - you the customer. We have a salt water pool with UV light conditioner and autocover. At the moment I will never recommend them even to my enemy. They just care about payments and not their responsibility. I have records of emails and phone calls with voice messages and texts left unanswered. Never do business with them.

Called them three times. Left messages. No one bothers to call back.

I’ve been trying to speak to someone there for a little over a week now to get some quotes for different items I need for my in-ground pool (including the purchase/install of a heater). I couldn’t get an answer from ANY of the departments listed in their automated phone service. I pressed 3 for “service” more times than I would have liked and left several messages hoping anyone would call me back. I even pressed 2 for “new construction”, and 1 for “billing”, just to see if anyone picks up the phone, and no one EVER did. What a bummer Penguin Pools. The number given to other customers who rated them 1 Star is the number I’ve been calling, so how can anyone try to resolve issues if no one answers the phone or returns customers’ calls? Good thing I am not a current customer because if I had any issues with my pool or service, there is no one there to even talk to.

The folks I worked with at Penguin Pools, specifically Matt, were nothing short of great. I am a pool owner and came to Matt with a problem and over the winter we exchanged several emails. He provided guidance, suggestions and ultimately sent a service person over to assist us - all without quoting service trip fees or anything else. Crazy, right?Its rare to find a company that genuinely wants to help people, and thats who they are. Given that I am not an existing customer, nor did they install my pool, and yet they still provided that level of service speaks volumes. Penguin is responsive and reasonably priced. The staff is professional and they’ve been helpful and patient in teaching us how to care for our pool. They’re also mosquito spraying for us this year which we’re excited to use as our outside can be very buggy in summer. We’d recommend them to anyone interested in building or maintaining a pool and the landscaping around it!

Matt and the Penguin crew did a great job on our in-ground pool. We had it installed at the end of 2014 for use in 2015. We went back and forth in our decision making process for about a year and Matt was very understanding. He also discussed each option with us and the cost/benefits of each. We opted for an automatic cover, which really was a great decision - very little time cleaning and lots of time spent in the pool. I would recommend anyone installing an in-ground pool to add an automatic cover. We are very happy with our purchase.

Matt took care of me when I needed work done in a hurry. i sold my house with an in ground pool and a week before the closing one of the return pipes sprung a leak. Matt came out to my house personally to oversee the repair and save my home sale. He did such a good job that the new owner has hired Penguin Pools to open his pool this year.Thanks Matt!

Penguin pools put in a new pool for us early this summer (2013). They did a great job working with us on the pool dig planning and our many rounds of changes to make sure we were happy with what we were getting. Matt was very professional when working with us and was always available to answer all our questions. The build process was very quick and the team was polite and hard working. They were responsive when the solar cover delivered was smaller than we needed and had it replaced right away. The training on the pool equipment was also great since this was our first pool. Their team also did our fence which went very quickly and looks great. Were very happy with everything about our pool, decking and fence. I would use them again if I was putting in a pool.

Matt and the TEAM at Penguin Pools have been a pleasure to work with and wonderful with answering questions and providing support after the work is done. In 2013 they replaced our liner and installed a new heater, everything was perfect and they truly made this project a pleasant experience. This year they replaced our chlorinator with a salt chlorine system. They provided all of the start-up products and guidance on how to use the system. Writing this review a year and a half after the installation of an in-ground pool, and into the second season of service with Penguin Pools. Overall, its been a great experience working with Matt and the rest of the crew during initial planning and through the decision-making process and problem resolution on-the-fly during construction. Service and maintenance related interactions afterwards were managed exceptionally well too. Very professional, courteous, and honest owner and company. Highly recommended!

I got a pool liner installed by matt at Penguin Pools. We moved in to a new house and this is my first pool. I saw all good comments for Penguin Pools, so I went with them. They never once called before coming over, nor did they knock on the door when they got here to do any of the work. I am not happy with the fit of the liner in some areas, all of the work seemed fast and sloppy. I had to call back to have them remove a bunch of wrinkles in the liner right by the stairs (highly visible). When he came to get them out, he asked me if I had a toilet plunger he could use to get the wrinkles out.... They put back on a stained skimmer inlet cover with the old rusty screws. It just seemed like a cheap thing to do when you are spending a good amount of money with a company. And to top it off, he misquoted me on water, costing me $500 over the quoted price. If you measured the dimensions of the pool for the liner, how are you off on the volume by 12,000 gallons!? I did not write a review at the time because I just thought that was the way it is in that business, but I go through Mark at Integrity Pools now. He has been a professional thus far, and I highly recommend his services-

We purchased our home in 2010 and the in-ground pool was severely damaged, a disaster! Penguin pools did the repairs and made the pool look like new. The initial cleanup and removal of the destroyed liner and stagnant water was a big job. We are glad we didnt have to do it ourselves. When they installed the new liner, pump and LED light they also recommended and installed the salt generator. WOW! What a smart decision and a great job done! Penguin Pool now closes my pool every year in the fall. Its nice knowing its done right. They have our business for life. This is our first in-ground pool and we couldnt be happier!

Overall they did a good job on the pool. Automatic pool cover was put on upside down which caused it to not work properly, but was quickly repaired when it was realized what was done wrong. Anytime we have a question he is prompt in answering. Wish he would let us know when he is coming over, sometimes he would just show up. With any large project like this there is always something that does not go right, but any problems were always quickly resolved. Overall we are pleased and would recommend them.

I highly recommend Matt and Penguin Pools. I had been in contact with Matt for a few YEARS while making my decision to install a pool and he answered DOZENS of emails and phone calls from me with questions! Matt was called to close my pool for the winter.We agreed to a time.The crew of Matts had all pipes blown, antifreeze added where needed and drained the sand filter.Covered the pool.The time from beginning to end was less then an hour.Awesome!!

I do not recommend this company for any type of service. Our pool was installed 10 yrs ago and we had constant problems with the automatic cover. Matt and his crew came out several times and we had to replace several covers and parts. Nothing ever fixed the problem. This year we found out from a different pool company and expert contractor that our pool is 2 3/4 inches off center. We have tried several times to work with Matt regarding this issue and there has been absolutely no response, or willingness to rectify their mistake. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Matt and his staff are pros from start to finish on building projects. Communication was key for the team. After built, great service and communication as well. I would only refer Penguin Pools to family and friends.

I rate Penguin a 1 because one cannot rate lower and post a rating.I will start by saying that I grew up with a pool and understand what it means to own and maintain a pool. We built a pool with Penguin in 2014 (completed in August so the pool is less than 4yrs old) and simply put there has not been a year where the pool did not leak, including the build year. Additionally, there has been the need for other non-routine maintenance each year.I had Penguin try and resolve the leaks initially, but eventually they referred me to another pool service company because they could not resolve their issue. So in order to keep the pool operational I continually need to refill the pool from my well. Each repair has only temporarily stopped the leaking and sure enough the pool is leaking again this year, right after opening. We have had to patch the liner in multiple spots including the lights, the stairs, the skimmer and the deep end wall. I also discovered last night that the shallow skimmer is cracked in multiple places. We have had other issues as well (pool cover, control panel, salt water chlorinator etc.), but nothing as fundamentally troubling as a pool leak. The pool is less than 4yrs old and I have dealt with an extraordinary number of issues.Matt (the owner) is not responsive to service for his existing customers, usually it takes multiple calls and vmail before any response, and when you get a response there is never a commitment on when service will be done, just a vague we got you on our list and being told that builds for new customers takes priority to existing customers minor issue. I was told most recently that you only have a minor leak (is there such a thing as a minor leak?) and we are busy with a new build, what do you want me to do? Well Matt, if you are a pool builder with integrity that stands by the quality of your work I would have hoped that you would take seriously the fact that the pool you built has continual issues. Maybe if you discover the root cause of this issue you will improve future builds? I shared with Matt directly my disappointment and asked for help. He offered nothing other than to have me continue to wait at the back of the line and he would probably get to me next week sometime (again no specific commitment). Well I am sick of the issues with the pool and not being treated well as a customer. I am also tired of marking the liner and measuring the leaks, doing evaporation tests, calling for service, waiting for service, refilling my pool etc. I believe that your pool build was fundamentally flawed and you are taking zero responsibility for it and making no effort to try to fix the issue.Pools should be a source of fun and relaxation, so I implore anyone who reads this to think twice before choosing Penguin.Buyer beware.

Our pool was just finished and I could not be happier. Matt and his crew did a fantastic job. I had a vision of what I wanted when we drew up the plans a few months ago. I am now able to stare out my back door at that exact picture. He did everything he promised and more. This company is very easy to work with. If I was going to build a pool in southern Wisconsin, it would be foolish to use any other company. Thank you Penguin pools.

When we first started looking to put in a pool, we were warned to be very careful of which company we chose, as there were some bad companies with people who had some really bad expiriences out there. From day one, after meeting with Matt, we knew we had the right guy/s for our expirience. Matt took the time to explain everything very clearly and honestly. He made sure everything was exactly what we wanted, and stayed within budget. Dave and his crew were absolutely outstanding as well. I have recommended Penguin Pools to everyone and anyone. Penguin Pools sent a very nice service guy who did half the job, were unresponsive when trying to trying to get them back to finish the job. Would Not Recommend.

Buyers remorse does not even come close to expressing our feelings. We bought an older home which needed a pool to be opened. Yes, it was in need of more than a standard opening, however, we were charged a ridiculous $6,000 for horrible communication, spotty attendance by the crew and they even brought in help from other parts of the state that ripped on the work his own employer and co-Workers did. The kicker... something as simple as putting bumpers on the ladders to protect against damage to the liner was overlooked and now we are facing a nearly $4,000 bill for a new liner. They are sure quite communicative when calling about a padded and unapproved bill, but now its crickets with this liner issue. We were promised a lot and in return were left with broken promises and kids without a pool to swim in. If you want a half dozen people coming to your pool for an hour or so at a time, and when they do come, openly trash the other employees work and leave you with an empty wallet and hard feelings, this is who you want to call! I wish I heeded the advice I had from other neighbors when asking for referrals. It also says a lot about a business asking their peers about their reputation.
