Ive been very, very pleased with Spanish Tutor DC. My tutor, Deborah, is just great. Shes very knowledgeable and has a talent for explaining subtleties of the language. This school also offers a great resource: podcasts in Spanish, covering many topics at different proficiency levels. Ive found the podcasts and supporting materials (transcripts, exercises with answer keys) to be incredibly helpful. I highly recommend this school.
I´ve have been taking private lessons with Deborah for almost a year and have been very pleased with my progress. I´ve been trying different ways to learn Spanish for years and the private lessons have been the most effective. I´ve finally made it to the intermediate level! Having the classes over Zoom works well and allows for schedule flexibility. I highly recommend Spanish Tutor DC.
Spanish Tutor DC has been a great way to improve my conversational abilities and grammar skills. I have interacted with and been taught by a few instructors; each one has been excellent. Classes with very small student class sizes are structured to get you engaged and conversing. If you cant attend class one week, you can join a different class on a different day that week. That experience serves to broaden your conversation skills by interacting with a different group of students. There is a solid methodology behind the sequence of developing grammar, writing, and reading skills. I have been taking classes for over a year. I started with in-person classes before the pandemic, and then we switched to online. The online classes have been just as engaging and useful. I continue to re-enroll, and it has significantly improved my Spanish speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities.
Spanish Tutor DC was great with me! Very professional. The whole process went very well. They understood my needs, assigned me a great tutor, Jorge from Peru, and provided good options for payment. They also have a campus web page with very good content that you can access for free to practice your Spanish. In general, disfrute de las clases y creo que hice un buen progreso y espero volver pronto a mis clases despues del verano.
Spanish Tutor has been a great place to improve my conversational Spanish! My teacher, Deborah, is so patient and knowledgeable. I have already improved so much and and will definitely continue taking classes for the foreseeable future.
Santiago is an expert tutor who has created a team of super effective Spanish language instruction based on Santiagos methodology. I do 1-on-1 classes and Ive never learned faster in my life. If youre looking to improve your Spanish for whatever reason, there is no better option--either in DC or anywhere in the US.
Ive been taking classes through Spanish Tutor DC with Deborah for about 6 months and Ive had a great experience. First I took a group class, then one on one sessions. Deborah is really organized, clear, and consistent, which is really helpful for me in learning a new language. She does a lot of repetition too which has helped me actually learn things long term. Ive enjoyed working with her online during COVID and shes always flexible if I need to move things around. I would recommend Deborah and Spanish Tutor to learners of all levels (I was/am a beginner)!
As a heritage speaker, I was looking for customized tutoring to help me with my limited vocabulary and grammar. After researching options in the DMV, Spanish Tutor DC was the quickest to respond and the most transparent in its offerings. I opted for one-on-one tutoring and they have been flexible during COVID-19. In a few short months my skill level in understanding and speaking has expanded greatly, and I thank Santiago and Roberto for their commitment to ensuring students know the whats, and more importantly, the whys of Spanish grammar.
Spanish Tutor DC is a great place to improve Spanish skills. The discussion-based classes are challenging yet enjoyable. It really helps you practice and improve verbal communication skills. My teacher Richard is very passionate and attentive, and always makes sure the class is engaging. I love that Spanish Tutor DC has very flexible schedule and tuition is reasonably priced. I am planning to sign up for more classes!
I found the Spanish Tutor DC podcast a few weeks, and fell in love with it. I started listening to the podcast and doing the exercises in the guides. The guide the comes with each of the podcast has a ton of information, it includes the transcript of the entire podcast and a lot of exercises. Santiago explains the grammar and the usage so well. I signed up with the online class this week, and I went through a phone interview with Santiago, so that I could be placed at the right level. I am very happy that the level selected for me was perfect to my ability. My teacher Sonia is a native of Barcelona, and she has a lovely style using effective methods to engage the students in the online setting. I got a lot of opportunities to speak, to do some reading and discussions with Sonia and students in the class. The class size is small. We had 3 students total this week, and normally this class has one other student. The class size is normally limited to 7-8.
Such a great resource to learn Spanish. My teacher, Deborah, was amazing and I will most certainly be taking more classes in the future. The small class size was appreciated and the outside resources provided (book recommendations, podcasts to listen to, apps worth downloading etc.) were a big help to use when not in class. Id recommend Spanish Tutor DC to anyone, from the most basic beginner to the most advanced.
I have had a great experience with Spanish Tutor. The minute I walk into class I feel happy and challenged. The interactive set up of the class really helps you practice and learn. We watch fun learning videos and discuss our weekends in Spanish. I travel a lot so have ended up taking many make up classes but I have had a pleasant experience with every teacher. The diversity of the teachers is refreshing. I have had one teacher from Peru and another from Chile, and they are both great! I have taken over 15 classes and I plan to continue with Spanish Tutor for a while also because it is reasonably priced. If youre looking for a hands on Spanish learning experience then Spanish Tutor is the right place for you.
Spanish Tutor DC is a wonderful language school dedicated to their students. I have been doing private tutoring for almost a year and Ive seen a great improvement with my Spanish. I recently took a DELE exam and passed. The tutors work with you based on your goals- which I love!
I would highly recommend Spanish Tutor DC to anyone looking to improve their Spanish skills. The small class sizes, high quality instructors, and discussion-focused coursework all make for a great learning environment, and the tuition is reasonably priced. Richard was my first teacher and he is excellent - patient, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. I will be signing up for more classes.
I took classes with Spanish Tutor DC for about a year before moving away from DC. It is by far the best Spanish program in the DC area. The teachers are all native speakers who are very personable and each bring their own twist to the class. The teachers dont speak english during class, so its easy to really improve your Spanish quickly. My teacher was Juan-Luis and he was awesome. Most classes included a grammar lesson, a reading lesson, and a conversational period where we would talk about current events, history, our lives, and anything that was interesting at the time. Juan-Luis always made sure the class was engaging, fun, and funny. The two hour sessions go by so fast.I highly recommend Spanish Tutor DC. They make you really want to learn Spanish and work to become a better speaker, reader, and writer. Its also affordable and in a great spot right above the Farragut North metro stop.
Really loved my experience (been going on and off for a year)Three things that make this company a success and one that I am willing to go out of my way to review:Flexibility, Price, HelpfulnessFlexibility- The program and teachers understand that many of us are working professionals. Therefore, there isnt a lot of pressure and they provide ample opportunity for make-up sessions! It wont be the exact same class you missed, but it does help build your skillset. Also, they offer a ton of class timings and options to work with your schedule! Plus, they are conveniently located next to the metro.Price- At about $19/hr for a small group class, its one of the more reasonable rates around here. Pretty affordable.Helpfulness- Ive had 2 different teachers and loved them both. Awesome teachers, make learning in the evening enjoyable (never thought Id say that!) We laugh, we practice our Spanish, and sometimes share food. Theyll help teach you and provide the resources for success, but its also about how much time and effort youre willing to put in.Would HIGHLY Recommend.
Spanish Tutor DC was a great way for me to maintain and improve my Spanish skills even with a busy schedule. I loved the flexibility of weekly group classes and the central location. My auditory skills probably improved the most, followed by speaking, reading and writing. Classes attract a variety of interesting people and instructors are fun, passionate and experienced.
I fell in love with Salsa & Batchata. However, I knew no word in Spanish. I found Spanish Tutor D.C. on line and decided to try – they had a wide variety of the schedule and the cost was very reasonable. Furthermore, I found out that it is more than a class – we had a great time with truly wonderful people and experienced different methods of teaching. I used to look forward to my Spanish Tutor D.C. evenings!Besides, the management was very understandable of my request to return the tuition for the remaining classes when I had to leave the program in the middle of the course, just because I had to change the location and leave the country. I was very impressed by their support and efficient reaction to my situation.I would highly recommend Spanish Tutor D.C. to anyone who is in need or simply interested in Spanish. You will get the results while having some fun!
I have always loved the Spanish language and I wanted to become conversational in it, but never committed. I finally searched online for community college courses, and came across Spanish Tutor DC. The price was far better than any other option and seemed more conversational. I signed up for a course as a beginner (I had limited Spanish in high school and college) and Im still taking courses over a year later. My classes have been small enough to get individualized attention, but with enough students that we can have spontaneous and interesting conversation. The class is held in a room with one table where we sit and talk, rather than having an instructor at the front of a room. Ive met a lot of fun and interesting people from all over the world. And, of course, my Spanish has improved immensely. There is homework each week (grammar exercises, writing tasks, and articles to read) that often drive our conversation, but it is low stress and if you miss a class you can make it up. I cant imagine a better (or more engaging) format for becoming conversational in Spanish.
I have been taking private Spanish lessons with Spanish Tutor DC for several years. I have had instructors from all over the world. My Spanish has improved tremendously. I have progressed from an absolute beginner to being able to read Spanish literature and have real conversations. All of the instructors are skilled, friendly, and make my class the highlight of my week.
Want to learn Spanish, improve your Spanish, master the Spanish language? Want to have fun doing so? This is the place. I highly recommend Spanish Tutor DC. The instructors are top notch, professional, and entertaining. What are you waiting for? Sign up today.
I started at Spanish Tutor DC after a well-known language learning center was not offering more group classes, and the cost of their private sessions was too high for me. Ive now been there for almost 2 years. Classes are typically between 3-6, but the instructors facilitate dialogue between all students, not letting a single person dominate the conversation. The schedule is flexible; classes are easily rescheduled. The instructors continue to be fantastic, pushing you to learn, but in an enjoyable way. Its a perfect mix of real life conversation practice, exercises, reading news articles, etc. I dont like to sound like a 4 year old with a terrible accent (well, maybe a 8 year old now), but at least Im having fun doing it. Most importantly, my Spanish has improved tremendously.
I am currently taking group lessons with Spanish Tutor DC. There are seven of us in the classroom, all from different professions, Spanish language backgrounds and reasons for taking the course. I was worried that I wouldnt be comfortable learning in this environment yet it turned out quite the opposite! We have bonded as a group and encourage each other to continue taking the courses and practicing. The professor recognizes each persons varying abilities and learning pace, and plans the lessons accordingly. And so long as you continue through the levels continuously, you get to stick with the same professor and classmates! I wasnt sure when I started that I would continue with Spanish Tutor DC to reach fluency, but have been convinced over the first course that this is the way forward for me. If youre interested in learning Spanish, Id highly recommend considering Spanish Tutor DC!
Ive been taking Spanish for just under a year through Spanish Tutor DC and Ive LOVED the experience. I started as an absolute beginner, never having taken Spanish classes in my life. The teachers put me at ease very quickly but also pushed me to learn and speak from the beginning- not an easy task to balance. The format of the classes was great, theres a real focus on conversation, everythings in Spanish and we learn through a variety of mediums. Spanish conversation, however, is always to the fore. My teacher Juan Luis Salazar was fantastic, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a great teacher.I always look forward to the classes and interacting with new friends in class. Theres a real diversity of people there which made the experience all the more fun. In addition, they are very flexible with allowing you to take make up classes if you give them notice.I had to take a break due to work commitments but Im signing up again this week and loking forward to being back. Cant recommend it highly enough!
Excellent classes, excellent instructor. Cant say enough about these folks. Highly recommended if you want to learn in a conversational and interactive manner.
I have taken foreign language courses with Spanish Tutor DC on and off for more than ten years in Spanish and more recently in French. My experience with Spanish Tutor DC has been extraordinary and includes both group and private classes. The intensive private lessons work best for me at the earlier stage of language development. A weekly one-on-one session with Spanish Tutor DC over the course of approximately two years, brought my Spanish speaking ability from an Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 1+ to a level 2+ based on an Oral Proficiency Interview conducted by an independent agency. A group class in Spanish allows me to maintain and improve the level of proficiency already gained, while participating in a low-stress convivial conversation group conducted 100% in Spanish.I currently enjoy private French lessons with Spanish Tutor DC and am very impressed by the patience and care that my instructor exhibits. He places particular emphasis on pronunciation, one of my weaker abilities in French. The fact that I can chose the text that I prepare for each lesson is appealing to me, since it insures my interest and buy-in for the matter to be discussed. In both Spanish and French my experience with Spanish Tutor DC has been entirely positive and I recommend their classes to students wishing to acquire, improve, or maintain foreign language proficiency.
I took Spanish for three years through Spanish Tutor and loved the experience. I progressed from intermediate to advanced (or maybe advanced intermediate) during that time. I learned a lot and had a great deal of fun. The format of the classes -- reading an article, writing a synopsis, and discussing it -- gave us an opportunity not only to learn more Spanish, but also to learn the views and experiences of the classmates. I looked forward to the classes and interacting with mis amigos in the class (in Spanish, of course) and the maestro (Juan-Luis Panizo) was what made the classes so enjoyable. I was sad to leave the class, and only left because I moved out of state!
