Walk in roulette!!! I’ve been going to Puglisi for 5 years and I have kept coming back even after I moved out of Foggy Bottom. Most barbers do a very good job but today my barber barely took any hair off the top. I normally ask for a #2 buzz around the sides and cut the top short but I barely feel like I got a haircut. I could feel that I wouldn’t like it but I feel really guilty saying or repeating what I want done. So I paid and left and will probably go somewhere else for another hair cut today.
This is the most authentic barber shop in DC. Its been around forever. The barbers are excellent, friendly, chatty if you wish, and fun. The only thing lacking is the striped barber pole outside!
Wonderful place with excellent barbers. Highly recommend it for everyone.
Even tho it was cash only, it was one of few times that I walked out a barber shop happy with my haircut
Puglisi is my place for a good hair cut. Abel does a great job. Abel pays attention to details on your cut to make sure you leave happy. You do not need to make an appointment to get a cut. My money is well spend at puglisi. 5 stars
Best barbershop in DC, Nino is a legend with the scissors.
These guys will take good care of you, will keep coming back!
Great hair cutters, really do a nice job.
We’ve been going to Jose for 8 years. He’s a gentleman and a great barber.
These guys do a great job!
Quick haircut and quick service but the barber listened to nothing I said and basically cut off all my hair. The clippers looked dirty and he didnt try to spark up a conversation once. They also only take cash and did not let me know this before the haircut.
Abel always gives a great haircut and all the guys are really great. Best haircut in DC.
Great place for mens haircut. They dont do appointments, but the wait is reasonable. I took my 7 year old boy too, and I found out that they dont have childrens prices. Their prices are fair so I may even bring him back again. Expect a pretty traditional barber shop premises, with experienced hairdressers who know what they are doing.
LOVE this joint so much. If youre getting a standard office dude haircut, this is your spot. Nice, funny guys who run the shop, and theyre super efficient and do a nice, neat job. If youre looking for a sick fade, this probably isnt your spot. BTW -- CASH ONLY.
Lol. Shouldve listened to the reviews. Here on work for the past month and a half. Finally broke and got a hair cut, shouldve just stuck it out another two weeks or so. Barber cut my hair the way he wanted, didnt do at all what I had asked for. Spent the majority of the cut on the back of my head...which I will never see. Definitely not worth the $32 and tip, I understand DC is expensive but this was no where near worth that. Couldve got a better cut from Great Clips at home. If youre ever in the Clt, NC area look up @Support.The.C so you dont have to go through the same experience while being away from home. The guys there are actually passionate about their work, listen to you and WANT feedback. Puglisi Hair Cuts is convenient, thats it.
Barbers here are very friendly and welcoming. Not your typical loud barbershop. Highly recommend coming to get your hair cut here.
Im a student from Dubai that studies at the U.S. I have never experienced any other barber shops other than the ones back home. I was so nervous to try a new barber, due to the fact he doesnt know my hair preferences. But unfortunately, I had to have a haircut because I was invited to a thanksgiving event and I didnt want to look bad. After reading the reviews about the shop it made me feel a bit relieved and not stressed out. When I arrived to the shop, i met the best barber Jose (the magical hand ) which gave me the best haircut ever, even better than the one back home, I became certain that this barber is one of a kind and is just PERFECT.
Unfortunately unimpressed. Heard good things about it, 35 dollars later, I am surprised. Convenient location. Cash only.
I had Jose (The Magic Fingers) do my hair and it was wonderful! I am in DC for an internship on the Hill, and my hair is my personal trademark. Jose did a great job. I will definitely be returning.PLEASE NOTE: All haircuts are $26. Cash only.
Best men’s haircut in the city
These guys are awesome. I was having a hard time finding a new barbershop since I moved from DC to Alexandria, but I found this place near work and now I just get my hair cut over lunch. Big upgrade. Its a barebones, unassuming place full of barbers who know their stuff and can give you a great cut quickly, for a fair price.
Outstanding service, at a great cost. Very friendly and casual atmosphere. I gave a short description of what I wanted and got the best haircut Ive had in months. Cash and drop-in only.
Great local place for a haircut. They seem to have been in business for years and have multiple customers that come Ina and are treated like family. The prices are very reasonable for the city and for the quality (including the usually good conversation with your barber). They are cash only, but are very kind if you forget and will wait for you to walk to a nearby ATM.
Excellent they are professional and friendly.I had my beard trimming and hair cut by Abel he is gentle and humble. Not much of waiting, I do recommend it strongly.بالنسبة للاخوة العرب عموماوالخليجيين خصوصا اللي يهمهم تضبيط الشنبات والدقن انصح بهذا الصالون.I think the location is not accurate just turn to the right of the coffee shop close the bus station.
Im from Houston Texas, on vacation to DC. I was told this place is great...My haircut is truly great.. awsome place!
If you are looking for a great place to get a trim in DC, this would be the place to go - they are excellent at what they do and are very friendly.I always get my haircut by Jose - who is awesome and knows exactly whats he needs to do. All I have to say is The Usual and he does it perfect. I actually drive 30 miles even though there are so many barber shops near my place. Have been coming here for the last 13 years and plan to do so in the future!
This barber shop was a great find. We were visiting from out of town and needed a quick haircut. Jose was my guy. My young son had another older gentleman (did not catch his name). Both men were incredibly friendly. The quality of both of our cuts was outstanding. In all sincerity this was probably the best haircut I have had in years. Very happy I found this place.
I went here because of the good online reviews, and because it was a classic barbershop. What more can I say, Jose is the man and knows exactly what he his doing. I have had the same barber for 15 years, which is a tall order for any new barber to take on. Jose was meticulous. He understood everything I wanted and made it happen. Its hard to notice a difference between him and my previous barber! I really dont know how he did it. These guys know how to give a haircut. Dont bother with any other place in DC. It really doesnt get any better than this.
Friendly service, convenient location, and good haircuts. Took off a star because there is one barber in there whom I would not recommend.
My SO has gone to the same barber for 28 years, never changing his style. Now that hes growing out his beard, he had to try a new place. Jose knocked it out of the park, even giving him tips on how to maintain his new look. Id say they have a new regular customer.
Its a nice group of guys, but I wouldnt recommend coming here if you need to look sharp. I came in for a simple trim, explained what I wanted, and my hair ended up being so poorly cut that I had to go to another barber the next day to have it fixed. I know some people are happy with them, but I wont be back.
I’ve gone to this place for a year, but I’m done with this place. They get annoyed if you request a specific barber. And they get very annoyed if you ask them to cut your hair shorter after they “finish”. They’re still polite but you can tell that they’re annoyed. It seems like they want the haircut to be over when they think it’s over, not when the customer is happy. There’s 2 barbers I really like at this place, but the other 3 never cut my hair good. It’s not worth the price in my opinion. And the prices have gone up.
Great environment. Great barbers. David and Abel are the best in the city!!
Inconsistent haircuts, very dependent on the barber. The men here are very nice and interesting, but they just give you a cut they think works. This is NOT the place to ask for something trendy or stylish.3 stars because Ive had some excellent cuts from here in the past, and also some of the worst I can remember. I always try to give general directions to the barber but the last 3 or 4 cuts Ive gotten have all been as if they were just doing their own thing. Walked in with one style, walked out with a completely different one.I dont go here anymore because I cant deal with the inconsistency. Ill go back if I find nothing better.
This place is fantastic. Didnt have to wait at all, got a great haircut, solid price of 22 plus tip. As for the barbershop, its the best Ive seen in DC.
Long wait and high price, but for a good haircut. The mens haircut is now $32.
Ive been going to Abel for over a decade. He does a great job. This is one of the last true barbershops in the city.
I wanted to get a skin fade and ended up with an embarrassingly bad haircut. I told the guy I didn’t like it and he didn’t seem to care. He charged me and told me “just wait a week and it’ll look better” I’m not even joking
Felt like a regular. This is my go to place in D.C. The staff are very friendly amd walk ins are welcomed. Haircuts are $30. No hot shave or razor line ups.
Jose gave me a beautiful beard cut and style. Very clean friendly professional busy barbers. Will be back next month for more. Definitely a repeat customer A+++
I noticed this place hasnt received a review in a while. In short, it still is a great place for a mans haircut. Every barber knows what hes doing and I always leave happy with my hair, which I havent been able to say for anywhere else in the city. Just make sure you bring cash, because they dont take credit cards
4 1/2 stars. Great cut, $30 with tip. Wouldve liked a bit more conversation though.
Friendly staff. The service is ok if all you want is a quick and easy haircut and you dont care about the specifics, but if youre looking for something trendy and stylized this is the wrong place for you. Prices are fine for what you get.
Great haircut. I go and wait for Bill, he is great, quick, and friendly. Never changed the place since I found it 3 years ago!
Fantastic service! Old school barber shop, only deals in cash, $28 haircut. Super fantastic professional haircut!
Paid 22 plus tip, and the barber was a pro! There was a little bit of a line on the Saturday that we went in. But the barber was quick and was able to fix the disaster created by a different salon. So, if you want your hair cut right the first time, come to this place!
Great place for a haircut. Needed to get cleaned up for the Marine Corps Marathon. Walked in. Jose took good care of me.
This review is specific to a single barber at Puglisis - not the entire shop. Ive been to Puglisis several times and have always had a great experience, except for today.I just got a haircut around 4pm on 12/1 with an old guy in the back of the barber shop. Easily the worst haircut Ive ever had. Out of respect, I did not vocalize how disappointed I was as he clearly is oblivious to how terrible he is at cutting hair. I did not get his name, but hes likely in his 70s, gray hair, very weak voice, and very slow motor skills. Something seemed off - I dont blame him, but rather Puglisis for hiring him and letting him butcher customers hair.I thought the bald guy in the front (who has cut my hair before and did a great job) was the owner, but hes not (on the way out I asked him and he said no).I should have waited the extra 30 minutes for the bald guy, or one of the others, but I never thought this guy would have been so horrible.
I felt like I was in the hands of a very competent barber and left feeling like I looked my best. An overheard reference to phone calls back home to Italy (rebuffed when there was a football, i.e., soccer, game going on) gave the place an added aura of authenticity.
A little pricey, but it’s probably the nicest hair cut I’ve ever gotten.
Jose is objectively the best barber Ive seen in all my travels across three continents.
$32 before tip for a standard haircut is too steep for me so I don’t think I’ll be a regular but there was no wait, quick, and the barber knew what he was doing.
Great place to get a haircut; one of the best Ive gotten.
My wife told me to go several years ago and Ive never been anywhere else. Great service and always pleased. Gratzie!
Low-key, great cuts, and a great price. Bring cash, and dont bother with an appointment. Just walk in and have a seat along the wall.
The Price has gone up, now its 24 a cut. A bit steep for me, so might not be a regular, but it will always be a top choice if looking for a place near by to get my cut done.Worth the price.
Honestly, one of the best haircuts Ive had in a long time. Its $26 cash only.
Great service
Great multilingual barber shop that is popular with business men from World Bank/IMF, lobbyists, and GW students. Main focus is haircuts - this is not a gentleman’s spa, it is a barber shop and it is very good at that.
Their new location is excellent!
Great cut! $26 for a standard cut, and they do a good job.
Been in town on business. Great find & highly recommended.
Very nice and skillful guys and reasonably priced for the area.
Finally found a real mens barbershop with no frou-frou stylists or Cosmo in the waiting area! The only mags are Sports Illustrated and Playboy along with the daily paper. They do a real good job of cutting your hair, even use a straight razor for shaving your neck.3 barbers and low prices, great friendly service. Located next to TGI Fridays on 21st st.
Love this place - Jose did an amazing job!
Excellent haircuts. No nonsense
Excellent barbers. Always go here to get my hair cut.
$22 bucks a cut. Friendly, down to earth guys, who seemed to be on personal relations with half the people who walked in. Ive been to two other barbershops in the city and I think Ive found my favorite.
Been coming here for years. Jose is the man.
Wanted an undercut and a trim, barber completely disregarded what i asked for and did what he wanted, took two inches off my hair and left me with a pseudo buzz cut, charged me $28
Not a great haircut but not terrible, it grows back, and charged me $28 that $10 more than a cut in NYC.
Best haircut Ive gotten in DC by far
Was nice people but the cut wasnt the best unfortunately, and was quite pricey!
Best in DC; hands down.
The only place I go for haircuts now. They only take cash.
Good people very reliable
Good haircut
Great haircut, great people
The worst experience I ever had, they charge too much money, and they dont know how to cut hair
Expensive, but good hair cuts.
Great cut!
Awesome
