Five stars are far too little to express just how impressed I am with this business. This is by far the best haircut I have ever received. My stylist was so kind, funny, and experienced. I cannot stress it enough–come to Charles, and you wont be disappointed. (Make sure to press B1 on the elevator inside the building!) Charles has a new regular, and I cannot wait to come back.

Sheba is absolutely amazing. I always leave so happy with my haircut. Incredible value, she charges half of what a nice salon does and it’s as good if not better of a haircut. I come out of my way just for her to cut my hair.

Great haircut at a pretty good price for DC. Make sure you call ahead to get availability as theyre pretty popular. The shop is inside of the large building with Bank of America in it. Go through the front entrance through the lobby to the elevators and press B1. Cant miss it. Will definitely be back again!

Great place for a haircut. To get there, from K St, enter the building labeled 1800 K, take the elevator to level B1, and youll see the sign for the shop. Its cash only, but theres an ATM in the Bank of America at street level in the same building.

Without a doubt Francesco is the best barber in DC. His cuts are always to perfection. His attention to detail and technical skills with scissors and the buzzer are top notch. Francesco is the best barber Ive been to since I was a kid. He doesnt hand out bubble gum after a hair cut, but his ability to turn my mop into a killer cut puts him on par with old Tom Brown God rest his soul. I would recommend this shop to anyone!

This has been my go-to barber for over a year now and I’m so glad they’re back. It’s reassuring that, even with the current COVID-19 pandemic, the staff here have taken thoughtful precautions to protect the health and safety of their customers and employees alike.All employees and customers are required to wear protective face coverings and must keep them on at all times. Customers will have their temperature taken before entering the shop and customers that are early for their appointment are asked to wait just outside the door while the barbers finish their current appointments. There is ample hand sanitizer available and they even have an air purifier.With all these precautions in place, the staff is still friendly and welcoming. If you haven’t been to see them in a while, I encourage you to visit. They miss us as much as we miss them!

Super easy to make an appointment and Francesco was great to talk to and get a cut from. Definitely recommend if you’re in need of a quick, high quality, and inexpensive cut. I have been getting my haircut from Bathsheeba for over 9 years and I could not recommend her more highly. While I first went to see her out of convenience to my work, I have not worked near her shop for over 7 years but I go out of my way to get my haircut from her. She really is one of the best barbers I have ever been to and I will continue to see her as long as she is cutting hair.

Came to town for a conference and needed a haircut ... bad. Found this place on Google and went there because of the good reviews. Very glad i did! I walked in and the lady asked if I had an appointment. I said, No. She said, No problem! I sat down and had one of the fastest, best haircuts Ive had in a long time! Im always nervous going to new places because you never know what youre going to look like when the cut is done. She knew exactly how to cut my hair, and did a great job. Good, light-hearted conversation, and none of the other negative stuff that i read posted here. A little spendy for a haircut, but youre in DC... so expect things to be a little more expensive. No credit cards either. Other than that, great experience, and I highly recommend! If my travels bring me back this way, I will definitely stop in again!

Went here today as me and my wife are on honeymoon and my hair was too long in this heat. An absolutely fantastic experience. Walked in and got seated straight away. My hair was cut perfectly for a reasonable price in my opinion. And then to top it off they braided my wifes hair for her as shes been struggling in the heat free of charge. Wonderful customer service and excellent work!

Ive been going to Bathsheba and the Charles Barber Shop for about seven years now. Like most in DC, Im an implant from Oklahoma. Not only has Bathsheba been giving me great cuts all these years, but shes practically an east coast mother for me at this point. I have a bit of a wonky shaped head that is hard to cut properly. And every time I walk out happy. I travel a lot for work and always have to come back to the Charles to get whatever cut I got elsewhere fixed. It took me probably 18 months to find a good barber in DC, so glad I found this shop! I should note, that I have used The other barber in the shop a few times as well. She is also excellent.I read a one star post below and I should note that that guy has no idea what hes talking about. The bulk of the clientele is white, and Im white. There isnt a sniff of racism against whites going on. Nor have I ever heard either of them bring up politics. Ask any regular customer in the shop if you go.

I found this place several months ago looking around online, and it has become the only place I get my haircut in DC. Bathsheba is great at cutting my hair and always knows best what to do with it. Shes also a great conversationalist, and we chat for the whole half hour I spend there. Highly recommended.

Cutting hair for over 40 years and has some amazing stories (asking about Neil Armstrong). Will absolutely be back.

Avoid at all costs. I didnt get a haircut or a shave because they told me they dont do shaves, and then proceeded to ask me what number I want for a haircut. Thats usually a sign of inexperience! Poor customer service all around. You should be able to cut what the customer wants, not what you want to give them because its easier.

Bathsheba gives an excellent haircut at a reasonable price. You can make a reservation or drop in. The shop is in the basement - go into the lobby, tell the guard where you are going, and head down for a very good haircut.

I had a hard time figuring out where the shop was a was a little frustrated when I eventually found it. Once I got there the staff greeted me warmly and a wonderful beautician named Anna invited me to her hair for a haircut. In the past I had bad experiences with women barbers but I was desperate. She is now my permanent barber. I just moved to D.C. and have tried many barbers, but she had great prices and was professional. The best haircut Ive had in a while. Love this place.

The shop is centrally located and one block from the Farragut West metro. Batsheba has always been professional and friendly, and she does a great haircut. Cash only. I call a day or two in advance to book an appointment and she can always find a time slot that fits my schedule. EDIT: The Barber Shop is in the basement of 1800 K St - the office building on the corner. Enter the lobby and take the elevator down to B1. Ask the Security Guard for directions if you need to - they’re always polite as well.

You would never guess it by looking at the place, which is inside a building that, at the time of writing, is inside an under construction building, but this is a gem of a place. Ultimately, this evaluation is based on the quality of the haircut and beard trim. Throughout my haircut, I was somewhat cringing because the secondary hairdresser didnt look like she knew what she was doing. Not really delicate or communicative, I elected to just bite my tongue and never go back.Best haircut Ive ever had. Length was perfect, she knew how to style it so as not to highlight my large forehead. The beard trim and lining was perfect, no kinks or uneven length anywhere. Theres a reason this place is a 4.9 after almost 50 reviews.

Sheba has been cutting my hair for nearly 20 years and in DC, mostly downtown, since the Johnson administration. You dont last that long, on K Street, fer chrissakes, without being good, and shes the best. She will talk to you about anything you want -- or nothing at all. She has some pretty great stories, but you can stay quiet and all shell do is give you a great haircut.Tony Apple? This has been my favorite barber shop since discovering it about a year ago. Regardless of which barber happens to do your haircut, you can be sure about the level of professionalism and expertise.

These are very nice people at this shop; but all of their haircuts start at $30. I got a quick buzz cut that would only have cost me $17 where I normally go in Arlington (Willys). They tend to spend a bit more time with people at Willys; and, for $13 less. ill go to Willys instead of Charles Barber Shop for future buzz cuts.

I flew in from Portland last year and promptly had my hair mangled by two barbers up town, straight to the buzzer they went. Louie patiently figured out the style I wanted - which is difficult since I hardly know - and then took his time to cut it right. These guys are old school professional and I heartedly recommend them.

I have been going to Batsheba (the shop owner) for over 4 years, and have only experienced kindness and high quality haircuts.If you dont want to talk about where you work, where you live, or what your parents do, then go to somebody less personable who doesnt care about their customers and just wants to take your money. That isnt Batsheba. Shell engage you in conversation, and is understanding of people with different view points.But most importantly, she is excellent at her job. She doesnt just cut your hair, she gives you tips on how to maintain it depending on the season and how she cuts it, and she always remembers what she did the last time and asks if you want it the same way.Ive never written a Google review before, but comments like Tonys below have no place in the review thread for this shop.

Worst haircut Ive ever had. Just moved to DC, went by all the good reviews on Google for this place. Ended up being expensive, slow, and BAD. A $25 haircut should not take over half an hour, and should not end up with me fixing it myself an hour later. Literally half my head had numerous strands that I didnt notice till I got home, showered and tried to comb it. Absolutely awful.
