Best deal for a barbershop in DC! I usually go to Lina or Try and they do a fantastic job. Normally youd have to pay double for same quality of haircut in DC. Ive since moved from the neighborhood to Arlington and still come back every month for a haircut.

(Slightly embarrassing) but until this week, my mother gave me basic hair cuts all my life until I decided to try Tenleytowns Barbershop. I was totally nervous because I hadnt been to a barber since I was a small child and didnt know how to ask for what I wanted. I was immediately greeting with a warm welcome from the entire shops staff and sat down for a trim. Try was so friendly and talked me through my options (and also complimented my moms previous work, so nice!). He was friendly while also giving me what turned out to be a fantastic haircut that I am so happy with! I would recommend this place to anyone and have already referred multiple of my close friends! You cant go wrong with any of their staff, the whole staff is so well trained, talented and friendly. The prices are also very reasonable! I will definitely be making this my regular barbershop for as long as I am here! 10/10!

I have been seeing Try (pronounced Tree) for the past two years since moving to DC. I get a tight fade and he truly and consistently gives me the best haircuts that I’ve ever had. The shop itself is clean and tidy and all the barbers/stylists take COVID precautions very seriously (double masks, gloves, plastic barriers, sanitizer, etc.). This is a great business with great people and I would recommend anyone to get their hair cut there. I’m regularly asked and compliments by friends on my haircut and they ask where I go thinking that it’s some high-end salon and I’m always glad to tell them that it’s a small barbershop in Tenleytown. If you’re relocating to the AU/Tenleytown area and looking for a shop look no further than here.

I dont normally write reviews, but I had to for this. Hands down one of the best experiences and haircuts I have ever had in my life!Walked in and was greeted instantly by all the friendly employees. Zero wait time. The barber listened carefully to exactly how I wanted my hair cut and delivered flawlessly. The attention to detail was surgical and stunning. I then received one of the best shaves and hot towel face massages I have ever had. Fantastic ambiance and I left more relaxed than I have been in a long time. To top it off, I was handed a cold bottled water on my way out for free as it was an extremely hot day outside. This whole experience for a price that is way lower than all the surrounding barbershops in the area.This will be my #1 barbershop from here on out. Could not be any happier with my experience and will be spreading the word to all my friends.

This place was amazing! All the people there were really nice and friendly. They take walk ins, so I walked in and instantly was put in a chair. No wait time! Try asked me from the start what I was looking for and I gave him a general description. I also had pictures of the type of cut I was looking for which helped a lot! He was super nice and with great confidence said that he can do that. Throughout the process, he made some tweaks to it and explained to me why he was doing so. And in the end, the result was AMAZING! I will definitely be coming back for my next haircut here when the time comes. (It wasnt a bad price either!)

This has been my favorite barber shop for the last few years. Everyone on the staff does a good job and they are the nicest people.

Love Lena and her team. Somehow my son and I always wander in when theres a party... and Lena is always feeding everyone! But were there to get the haircuts... To note, as a woman with short hair, I also get a trim there regularly as well. Highly recommended.

The waits are never long as they’re very efficient.Edit: I want to add that this barbershop takes Covid very seriously. Masks required, appointment only so the store is basically empty, and the barbers wear face shields in addition to masks and gloves. You should feel safe to come here!

Gone there a few times now, they usually do a decent job on haircuts. I had one barber (Peter), who paid extraordinary attention to detail and i was especially pleased with me haircut.

Ive had a lot of good haircuts. I will say Peter gave me one of the best skin fades I have ever had. He took his time and knew what he was doing. Ill definetly be back when I need another cut.Also the other barbers do great work. I saw them cut other peoples hair and Id give them 5 stars as well. I am new to the area so I just walked in one day. I suggest bringing cash there is a $2 surcharge on credit. Id also make an appointment I had to wait about 20 minutes or so. It was worth the wait though.

A great barbershop! I was able to walk in mid-morning and didnt have to wait at all. The barber who cut my hair was very knowledgeable -- I told him my usual cut, and he noticed that I usually wear glasses (even though I wasnt at the time) and suggested some tweaks to the style to make it work better with glasses. The cut itself was great, and the barber took his time to make sure everything was right, and even offered to even up my shave for no extra charge. For $20 plus tip, I couldnt be happier with the service.

The place offers some great haircuts with top notch prices to boot. I got my ideal haircut and a shave on the back of my neck for only 20 bucks(just be aware that theres a two dollar fee for using a card). Everyone here is super friendly, definitely my go to spot

This is a new place not far from the Tenley metro in summer 2017. I highly recommend them! Ive been getting my hair cut there all summer long, and theyve done a great job each time. I like that they take their time with each customer and make sure the cut is exactly what you want. It is great customer service compared to what you often get at a big box place. So definitely check them out next time you need a cut.

5 STAR barbershop. My normal barber is on vacation so I went to Arcade barbershop in Chevy Chase and had the worst haircut EVER. So went to Tenleytowns Barber to fix my hair. Cody spent almost an hour fixing it and it turned out really great. I am very grateful as I am headed to the beach for the weekend. Thank you Cody!

About 2 years ago I found out about Lina online where I read review after review from her clients in DC citing that they were going to miss her and travel all the way to her Germantown Barbershop location to get their haircuts. I had to see for myself. I love Lina. Now that she opened up a new location in Tenlytown I find I am the one who gets to drive 45 minutes to go see her. I get a perfect haircut every time. She is a wonderful woman and a beautiful soul. Go see Lina.

Showed him an exact picture of my last haircut which I asked for and he cut it way too short and it looks terrible, wouldn’t recommend. Very friendly, but this is more of a chain haircut place vibe instead of a barbershop if that’s what your looking for, there wasn’t any music or conversation only a muted TV.

Great new barbershop in Tenleytown! The owner / head stylist, Lina, has cut my hair for 10+ years (including when she worked at another salon), and shes wonderful. Excellent cuts, very good service, really nice new decor, and extremely reasonable prices - - only $20 for a top-notch haircut! I also bring my two kids, boy and girl (ages 6 and 3) here, and they love it here and also get good haircuts. A short walk from the Tenleytown metro, or plenty of street parking nearby. Highly, highly recommended!

We were optimistic that a new small business had opened in the neighborhood. My husband has been here twice; the first time was fine. Today, during his second visit, I sat in the waiting area while Tu cut his hair. Tu immediately asked whether he had had head surgery (mystifying-but what if he had? What a thing to say) and generally had a running critical commentary about my spouses hair. The very basic mens cut took 40 minutes. He did not listen to my husbands requests re: length and my husband left livid about the whole experience. The shop was not busy but both employees were very vocal about how disappointed they were about the lack of customers. Its so disappointing that a new neighborhood business could be so insensitive and impersonal. Well take our business elsewhere.

If you want a cheap and nasty haircut with a lot of attitude then this is the place to come. My hair was not cut in the way I asked. Hairdresser was very rude..

I’ve never written a bad review before but this was the worst haircut I’ve gotten in a long time. The guy did the opposite of what I asked for and then argued with me about why he did it that way while making a half-assed attempt at fixing it. I will never be back.

Lina was at my old Barbershop in Dupont Circle so I was pleased to see she opened her own shop walking distance to my house (parking in Dupont is difficult). The first time I had a great cut from Cody and today Lina did the honors and I love it. I will keep coming back! p.s., I think having CNN or ESPN on the TV might be better for the customers (not as bad as Diegos music :-).

I followed Lina from her old place (Diegos) to her business in Germantown, and now back to her new business in Tenleytown. Shes been giving me the best haircuts of my life for a while now.Tenleytown Barbershop is brand new, clean, and very reasonably priced. Youd be remiss to go to a factory like Hair Cuttery or a sweatshop like Diegos when you have this option available.

I just got an excellent haircut at this place. Id been looking for a good barber cause my hair is curly/wavy and I guess in this mainly caucasian neighbourhood they dont get much of my kind of hair. The CutnEdge place by Vanness butchered my hair and the staff was so stone faced you could tell they just wanted customers in and out.You could tell the guy at Tenleytown Barbershop knew his stuff and was able to give me a great cut and great friendly conversation. Go in and give these guys a try, same $20 cost like everywhere else.Update: ABORT!!! The guy no longer works there and I tried this other dude which butchered my head. I looked like I came in and ask for the crackhead special! I think the lady may be able to cut decently but if u see the well dressed dude....RUN FOR THE HILLS! Do not let him near your head. B**ch tried to convince me that if I look straight on it looks ok.

I highly recommend Tenleytown Barbershop. Lina is great at what she does; the service is great and she listens to what the customer wants, so that youre happy when you leave. I knew Lina from having lived in Dupont Circle and going to Diegos for years -- and was glad to hear she had opened her own place in my new neighborhood (once my wife and I moved to Tenleytown). The location is very convenient, just a block north of Tenleytown Metro (on the redline) on Wisconsin Avenue.
