I’m not from DC but i really needed a haircut. My ends were dry and so i went to go cut off the split ends, the stylist then asked me if i wanted anything else done to my hair and i said why not! let me just get a few layers. the lady ended up cutting my hair so bad like i can’t even explain the layering that she did on my hair. she legitimately cut EVERYWHERE and it’s so uneven. if you want to get a basic haircut this place is decent and safe but please do not get any layering because it’ll come out so bad
I got the exact haircut that I asked for. Amazing job! Tina was efficient and professional and did a fantastic job! I highly recommend this place! Oh, and the price was very reasonable.
I needed a trim on my medium length hair and was nervous to try to find someone who would do exactly what I wanted at exactly the length I wanted, but Tina did it for me and it relieved my anxiety! She was right on time and did a great job in a short amount of time. Id recommend her highly.
Terrible service and terrible scheduling. Save yourself time and money. They did my sons haircut but I could of done it better
Great haircut, efficient but thorough. Reasonably priced for the city ($30 for men’s cut as of March 2021). Location is clean and masks are enforced. This has become my go to spot for haircuts.
Fantastic place to get your hair cut with great value. I have lived in DC 4 years now, and this is by fair the best place I have gotten my hair cut. The staff was very professional, and the store was very clean. The price is also amazing for the quality of haircut I got. There is very little frill associated with how the store appears, but dont let that deter you from going here to get you hair cut. This will definitely be my go to spot from now on.
Justin does an amazing job cutting my hair! Very stylish
I recently moved to DC and had been searching for a stylist who was used to giving first-time haircuts to people. H St. Hair had lots of great reviews, so I booked. Tina did a great job with my hair! I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she cut it beautifully. They are taking COVID seriously, and everyone must wear a mask and gloves. This is one of the best deals I’ve gotten — and I’m so pleased with the outcome. I’ll definitely be back!
Walked in on a whim for a haircut. Mistake! Worst cut I ever received. Never going back. Even if it was free.
Clean and friendly establishment. Quality haircut. Would absolutely recommend.
Ivy is truely wonderful and does a great job at cutting hair. Being in the military I have to get my hair cut about every two weeks and H st. Hair is my go to place. I highly suggest if you are in the NE and looking for a good place to get a hair cut every time, go to H St. Hair.
Most affordable and talented hair place in the D.C. area. Also they’re one of the only Korean hair stylists in D.C.
Had a bad hair cut and Sammy fixed it for me! I had gone to a different salon, asked for layers, and the girl did layers on only one side. But I couldnt tell until I left and straightened my hair later, since she blow dried my hair to be curly. Thankfully a friend recommended Sammy, and now my hair is 1000000x better. Sammy made sure to even everything out as best as she could, and then immediately double checked my hair to make sure it was even on all sides.
Excellent haircuts every time. I’ve been doing here for years and have never been disappointed.
Tina is very skilled and did a great job with my hair. My only complaint is that I was charged $35 even though the price online was $25. Still a great value regardless.
Good service, consistently good quality haircuts.
Got a great cut by Tina. In and out in 20 minutes. Love it.
When you call and ask about a not-so-common service and price, are quoted, but upon arrival almost immediately are told a different price, thats Poor customer service...
I see Tina and she is a perfectionist! H St. Hair has always been very clean and has taken excellent precautions with COVID.
Ive had five different stylists and have never had a bad haircut. Very friendly and thorough
I love this place. Ive been getting my hair cut here for a few years. Their prices are right and their people are nice. Highly recommended!
Affordable, fast, and accommodating staff. Walk-ins accepted and you can pay for your tip on a card. I showed the stylist a picture, asked for a low skin fade, and told her to cut less than 1/2 inch on top. She did exactly what I asked for. Ask for Ivy.
This is a great hair salon in our neighborhood. I’ve had my haircut here a few times and I’m definitely happy with their work. I always schedule my appointments ahead of time but never had a hard time getting one at the last minute.
I took my kids (8 and 10) for a hair cut and they were great with both of them! I ended up having a haircut for myself. Affordable prices and great hair cuts for all.
They have their COVID protocols down. One person at a time, mandatory mask, mandatory gloves, appointment only. They also gave me a really great hair cut after months of neglect, highly highly recommend.
The best haircut Ive ever gotten. I walked in without an appointment and immediately was in a chair to get my haircut. Jessica did an amazing job, mixing her expertise with my input. I will be returning. A little more than I usually pay for a haircut ($35 at H street hair) but worth it.
They were so fast to fit me in and get me out. And its cheaper than everywhere around here too. I got a mens haircut for $25. ✌ Great experience, will definitely go back.
Weve been to several places in DC and this is by far the most professional, most kind, and affordable place in town. Weve taken our 3-year-old son here for over a year now and each time they are patient and understanding of his wiggles (and sometimes protests...) and the best part -- its $15!! We would pay twice that much for the kind of service they provide! By FAR the best place around .You will not be disappointed!!!
Great service and attention to detail! Really took the time to understand the cut and trim I wanted.!!
Despite having a functional link to make appointments online, I was informed that they dont keep appointments on weekends. I got a confirmation email this morning, but when I showed up at the scheduled time they told me to wait behind 4 other people and two parents with children to get a haircut. I left.
I went to H St. Hair on a whim and it was an awesome haircut experience - I was in an out quickly, the cut was super affordable and I got my favorite haircut to date. Looking forward to the next time.
Great place for kids hair cuts! They have a red car for kids to sit in and they are fast!
Theres a lot of places in DC where they overcharge you despite the poor customer service and bad skills. This place is an absolute exception. The ladys here have skills, and know how to make you look good without breaking your pocket. I got referred by a co worker and since then Ive been going to Tina. Highly recommend getting an appointment with Tina, she is absolutely amazing and her attention to detail and dedication towards providing excellent service is simply superb. No one in DC will give you a service like this for just $25
I found this place on the web because it was reasonably priced and had high ratings. I was very happy with the service I got. JC did a great job and made me look and feel great. I recommend that you make an appointment as I did, because the place was extremely busy with constant walk-ins.
I went in the evening, around 6pm. It was quite busy but the atmosphere was chill. The lady who cut my hair, Sunny (sorry, I dont know the correct spelling), did a fantastic job. I explained how I wanted my long hair cut & she exceeded my expectations. 😊
Weve been taking our son here since he was 3. They are great with kids and you can just walk in when needed. Its great and very convenient.
Easily the best haircut Ive ever had! My friend raved about Moons service and attention to detail.I never got to ask my hairdresser for her name, but I think she may be the owner. Their peaceful atmosphere and amazing service makes this a must if you are looking for a salon you can trust in the D.C. area.
Racially profiled... was told they dont have experience with African American hair and my hair is curly and fine /wavy texture
The stylists were amazing with my toddler who has been on a haircut strike, And we left with a great cut!
I love the personal touch! All of the stylists are simply the nicest people youll meet. I hadnt been there for about six months but they remembered my name anyway.
Justin is excellent.
I had a difficult time communicating with my stylist (perhaps I should have been more forceful), and he didnt give me the chance to review the cut on the back of my head (which wouldnt have been as big of a deal if it was closer to the picture of the style I showed him on my phone from a previous haircut). I was also overcharged $10 and was unable to raise my concerns for the apparent price increase due to the communication barrier.Everyone seems nice there, but Im going to have to start going somewhere else where I can be sure Im not going to pay $40 for a simple mens haircut that may or may not turn out well.
Recently moved to Washington and found this place based on reviews. I have now been back three times. Jinny is always smiling and does a great job with my hair. I never have to go home and fix my haircut like other places. Jinny takes the time to get it right. Affordable mens cut and take cash for the tip.
Some of the best haircuts I have received - certainly THE best i’ve seen in DC at their price point. Highly recommend for men who don’t want to spend a lot but want something better than the cheap chains.
Amazing experience at this spot. Top class ladies with manners, willing to gesture and write on paper since they knew Im deaf. Definitely paid off my bucks, and will pay this spot a visit again! Thank you! ❤️
Generally reasonable wait time, and will also schedule appointments if you have a tight timeline.
I love going there always do a great job on my hair they do all hair there is a stylist named Posh she does the best high lights Ive ever had and the prices are reasonable. Its a cash only salon.
Great value, friendly staff. No complaints, and she took her time to get it right. My first time there last week and Ill be back for sure. Also, good for kids - they have a car chair, and they were great with our 2 yr old.
Tina did an amazing job with my out of control hair! I usually have to come home and restyle it myself but she perfectly dried my hair in big loose curls. I had the wash, cut, and blow out for $65. It was an extra $5 since it was a big job but very reasonably priced.
Great prices for a mens cut and very good quality stylists. Nice that they do walk-ins too. Definitely recommend.
I got a bad haircut from Hair Cuttery and they fixed it right up! Nice fade, good advice, at the right price. Thank you!
Good place to get a cut. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff, sat down, and she immediately got to work.Although its on a busy street, the inside is quiet and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff may or may not take a bit longer than youre accustomed to because they are VERY thorough. They do have a large array of clippers to get whatever they need sone and are very professional. The only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars is price though I also recognize that some people might disagree with me. A guy who paid as I was getting my cut paid $25 (as did I.) Some of you might think that its no big deal while others may consider that to be pricey. I do realize that I might consider that high because: Im a poor college student, Im a man and not used to paying much for haircuts because my taste is simple and what I want is easy, I usually just go to a chain for a simple cut and not a salon, and because I dont live in D.C. so I am not used to D.C. prices. Everything is more expensive in D.C. so that also probably factored into my surprise regarding the price.Besides my thoughts on the cost (which you may or may not agree with) I had a pleasant experience and if you dont mind dropping at least $25 on your hair, this is definitely a good place to go.
GREAT SERVICE, Very experienced.SUPER Pleased
Really solid haircuts at a great price. Korean hair salon in the middle of DC - haven’t had a bad haircut yet. Would recommend for after work walk-ins.
If a haircut is just a haircut to you, youll feel comfortable here. No pretension, no too cool for school stylists, and no insanely elevated prices. No worries if you call last minute, theyll fit you in. My new go to spot.
Im usually picky about where I go and try to always go back to the same stylist when I can. But I was traveling in DC before heading to a wedding in NY and I needed to get cleaned up. I chose to go here because of proximity to my friends house, good Yelp reviews, and they could take me right away as a walk-in. I was greeted by a bunch of nice older Korean ladies and sat immediately. For me haircuts are like massages. I really enjoy them. So it was to my delight that my stylist seemed not to want to ever stop cutting my hair, polishing every detail, and even trimming my beard, replicating the exact pattern I showed her in an earlier photograph of myself. All-in-all $35 which I consider a great deal. I would return for every cut if I lived here 👍👍👍
This place was recommended by a friend so I decided to check them out. The staff was really friendly and the lady who cut my hair did a great job without spending a lot of time doing it. They allow appointments as well as walk ins. Ill be going back for sure.
Fast, easy to walk-in. Cut for my toddler was great.
Tina is so sweet and good at listening to my words!!!
This place was super quick. I showed a picture and was in and out just like that.
They are creative and fun! I had a great experience.
They ruined my hair. They don’t know how to add layers in different types of hair. The guy used Asian way of layering and it made me hair shorter and look thinner. Completely mismanaged look. I am amazed that if they dot know how to manage a certain hair type then why go ahead and say yes they can? And I had read the reviews that made a huge difference in my decision to go. I am not sure if the reviews are real.
The owner this shop and her stylist are knowledgable in the latest treads and understand hair and how to get the right cut and style for you and your life style. My boyfriend and I have both get our hair styled at the same time. I plan on continuing to use Sepia service in future and am grateful to find a shop that is not a cookie cutter approach to a Hair Salon.
I was very pleased with the result of this haircut, which remedied to a desaster made by another barber shop nearby. Tania was very friendly and worked in a very precise way. The cost of $25 was absolutely justified.
I had JC today - and I have to say that I couldn’t be happier with my hair cut! First of all - one of the best hair washings I’ve had at a salon in a long time! Strong hands! And the fact that he listened to me when I said a trim was great!! Will definitely be going back! Thanks JC!
Really great haircuts with a short wait. Nice employees.
Gave me a great hair cut, very precise and wasnt too expensive.
Always get a nice haircut here (thanks Won!) and theyre a friendly group. Get in on a weekday to avoid the rush!
I was on vacation around dc area and figured I would get a haircut before I go back home.I am absolutely glad that I made that decision. Moon was super friendly and did a fantastice job cutting my hair. He styled it really well too. This was the first time since coming to the States (I have beem here for 4 years) that I was actually happy with the haircut! Price was reasonable too. I had a womans short haircut and I paid 45 dollars and I thought it was well worth the price. Thanks Moon!
Tina has been cutting my hair for two or three years now. Always great. I just got married and now she cuts my wifes hair too!
Theyre terrific. Good haircut at a reasonable price.
Like all salons it depends on who cuts your hair. But overall the quality is good.
Love this place. Tina knows how to cut a Jewfro -- hard to find. She did my wedding haircut, I trust her completely. And its a bargain.
Im bald so my only experience here is with childrens haircuts. Theyre very patients with my kids and always the best they can under the circumstances. Its a little pricey but worth it!
Amazing service, my hair is silky smooth
Nice and good place to go to cut your hair. I have gone three times and I have always been very happy for both the cut and the attention.
Wow! If you are looking for a hip 1940s-1950s tapered mens cut Tina is the one shes really talented uses comb over scissor and clippers, Im thrilled I found her !!
Not much of an atmosphere but GREAT hair cuts for the price.
Ive been coming here for over 3 years now. Love this place!
Great haircut by Justin
I love this place. Tina is the best!
Nothing good to say. I saw the great reviews so I decided to give this place a try but here is how my experience went. It started with the most painful hair/ scalp wash between the water going from steaming hot to freezing cold and her nails and what felt like rings snagging my hair, it just hurt. But I didnt say anything then. I kept a hopeful mind after that, thinking that perhaps the girl washing my hair didnt know what she was doing but hoping the haircut would be better. The haircut experience was awful. I have long hair and I just wanted straight across the back and layers in the front, simple right? She cut front angles on one side SO much shorter (like 3 inches shorter) than the other side, she didnt seem to notice and started blowing my hair dry. I exclaimed that this didnt look good, and she insisted that she cut more off that same short side! I asked to please just stop (fyi- she hardly spoke English), and finally she stopped. My hair would have looked better if I had cut it myself or let me niece do it. Then she insisted that she continue to blow my hair dry and then fix it once it was dry. She burned my scalp twice with the hair dryer so I asked her to just please stop. She then passed me off to her colleague to finish/ fix my hair who when I came to her said oh my! and said she would do her best to fix it. She wasnt able to even it out since one side was so much shorter.. and then they charged me full price saying they discounted it for the mistake because normally with my hair length they would have charged a lot more. I will NEVER go back.
Nice people and very meticulous hair cuts
After waiting for well over 30 minutes as a walk-in the stylist took a walk-in who had left a few minutes after I initially sat down. She claimed he had been waiting longer than me even though he had left the salon.
They don’t check google reservations, but they are great people who cut hair very well.
Great quality, good price. Make appointments otherwise be prepared to wait
Great value with excellent service
Great prices and service!
I would not recommend. I left with a worse haircut than when I started.
Great cut for $25
They refused my service never going there again 🤯
Appropriately priced and swift
James do not understand what I said and do not understand what is a undercut.
Affordable hair cut.
This was the worst haircut of my life.
Always a solid trim thats a par above
My hair cutting person was a smoker, so that is something I noticed.
Best deal in town!
