Very smooth start to my rental and the online platform is really user friendly. Building is brand new, clean and well-lit. Large loading area backs up right next to elevator allowing for easy access to my unit upstairs. I’ve been to other storage buildings in the area and this one is by far the best for unloading.

Everyone Ive dealt with at Extra Space Storage have been extremely courteous and helpful. They took the time to clearly understand my storage needs and concerns and immediately came up with the best possible solutions. Access to the storage units is simple, easy and efficient and costs are very reasonable - the most impressive factor is the courtesy and willingness to help that is exhibited by Extra Space Storage personnel.

We had a great experience at ExtraSpace. The staff was friendly and informative and had exactly what we were looking for. The manager - I believe his name is Keon - was incredibly helpful. The customer service stood out as excellent and we are pleased to find such a convenient storage option in the neighborhood.

The space itself is well maintained and they take security very seriously. The smaller of the units are above the larger units, which requires a ladder to access and therefore limits the things you can store there to whatever you can carry up a ladder. I had to upgrade immediately upon move in as I could not access the space for what I needed. There was a significant price increase during the couple of months I rented there, and when I decided to vacate I needed to call multiple times to get them to update their system, even though I had spoken with staff in person and checked out online. They stil managed to bill me on time though, of course. Overall not a terrible experience, but I will definitely look elsewhere before renting with them again if I need storage space in the future.

I have been with Extra Space Storage for a year and always received great customer service but today, after the excellent experience I encountered, I had to write a review! I lost the keys to my lock and needed to get into my unit. I called and inquired about cutting the lock and getting a new one. From the moment Steven answered the phone, he was helpful. I wascoming from out of town and wasn’t sure if I would make it to the store on time. Steven offered to stay later than 6, if needed to. I did get there before 6, and when I walked in, Steven was able to assist and cut my lock off! He also updated some personal information on my account. He also helped with showing how to use the new lock! Steven was excellent and I had to share how great he was and how much I appreciate him taking the time! Thank you Extra Space for having such an excellent employee!

I had an amazing experience while renting a locker and moving my items in. I recommend going in person first to see the unit before you select anything. The attendee was very informative and helpful. I recommend this facility to anyone looking for storage space.

Great staff. Tiara and Robert were exceptional. I picked out a unit and was satisfied and left. Then received a phone call from the young lady saying she had put me in a unit closer to the elevator and with a tiny bit more space. Then when I returned Robert came out to the parking lot (just after closing) and provided a more convenient keycode, as well as the new unit number.I very rarely experience customer service that good in DC. Give them raises, please!

There was an issue with not receiving payment reminder emails. I called the 2nd Avenue NE location to discuss, and Steven, who was filling in, was able to quickly, and professionally provide a great resolution. It was nice to do business with him. While I will miss Tiara who was amazing, Steven was awesome and would be a nice addition to this location.

My unit was broken into a month ago. The robbers came in from the poorly-secured roof of the storage unit which is just a thin wire mesh. As you can see in the pictures it is very easy for people to climb it and break their way in. Once inside, they took their time going through all of my things, stealing my personal information.Response from the on-site team/mgmt: I was questioned about the validity of my claim and was asked to send pictures and videos before they checked on it. The follow-up was poor - I was never called back, I always had to initiate the follow-ups. It took them several days to fox the wire mesh. I asked for metal bars as reinforcement to the wire mesh, to which I never received a straight answer on. A month later and the owner of the building and Extra Space Storage mgmt are still debating what to do. This makes me feel like the security of my unit and that of my neighbors is not their priority. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for years, I know it’s a high-crime area in DC which is why they need to take this more seriously. I asked for possible solutions to my issue as I’m not in the country to handle it on myself, their response was: “you can get movers and move your things out at your expense.” They wouldn’t even move me to a more secure unit.I purchased insurance through their insurance partner: Beecher Carlson. I’ve called them twice in the past month to start a claim and have not heard back once. I followed up again today for the third time and their response was that they were not able to find the location of my storage unit in connection to my information. However, I never received a call to resolve the issue. This has been another disappointing experience. I would look into using another insurance company.I had a good move-in experience and wrote a positive review, however, I do not feel it is deserved anymore.

I have been renting here for about three months now. On only my second visit that I came, the lock got stuck and had to be drilled off. The employee was super nice but she could not get it which resulted in me having to be there for three hours. She also was the only person on shift and had to help me and multiple others while answering the phone. The next day I had to wait for a employee from a different store to come and take the lock off. The employee informed me that I would be able to come back the next day and cut the zip tie off. Unfortunately they put a red hard lock on there that I didn’t approve of, that I am not able to get off because the office is not open yet. I work two jobs and this is super frustrating, inconvenient, and just all-around bad service. THE EMPLOYEES ARE AMAZING, but I will be pulling my unit as soon as possible due to these inconveniences. They had to give me a brand new unit just so I can put my bags that I brought the day that the lock get stuck. So now I’m stuck with the 2 units. One of which I cannot even get into because they put in unauthorized lock on there without my permission. DO NOT GO HERE! Go to any other location, they are not staffed here.

I only have move in experience, but it was so smooth and so amazing. That’s because of the two attendees at the front desk who explain everything to you every step of the way, very transparent, and they help you with whatever you need. I got a great rate and my unit is super clean and climate controlled. Couldn’t be happier. A massive garage made moving in very easy because we could park right next to the elevator and there were plenty of dollies to use.

Customer service is good, but overall organization of the headquarters could be better. Immediate online rentals do not always coordinate with the location of the rental itself

Extra Space Storage is by far the best storage facility in the DMV. They make the reservation process extremely user friendly, as everything can be done online. They even give you a personal call once you’ve reserved to confirm all details and welcome you to the community. My favorite part is the secure access and the complimentary lock. The facility is spotless, easy to navigate, well lit, ventilated, and has elevator access. The location is right next to a Walmart which is great if you need any last minute supplies. As a bonus they offer three drive up loading spaces and up to 4 carts to assist with move in. Which really helped speed up the process. Very satisfied with my experience and will recommend to friends and family.

The storage place was easy to get to, the loading area was spacious and right next to the elevator with moving carts easily accessible. I have been storing with Extra Space for a very long time, Actually my entire family uses them to store our company merchandise all over the U.S. I have been shopping for a location for our new DC Market. I came across Extra Space on 2nd St NE which would be mins from our new location and I also saw availability at the Blair rd location, During my research at both locations, I came across reviews that mention the name of my old storage lady in silver spring, her name was Teairra, it was like a light bulb went off and I knew I had finally found the perfect location. When Teairra assist me at the former location she was an absolute delight. She was extremely polite and helpful. She gave valuable advice on getting my company merchandise packed and moved swiftly to the facility. She gave me so many Ideas that saved me lots of time. I truly appreciated her going above and beyond the call of duty. Not only did she provide superb customer service beyond expectation, but I was having a really rough day and she was so patient and some how made this rough patch a smooth process. I now store at the 2nd St NE location and have a better peace of mind knowing I have a storage Rep like Teairra. Thank You Extra Space for this unique young women

Nice setup, overhead cover for un/loading, innovative model with the attic type storage units which are super affordable for The District if you dont have anything too heavy. Helpfully and friendly staff. Web site makes becoming a new renter very easy. Note you cant get Chalupas after you stop by anymore because the Taco Bell on the corner shuttered. Also mind the traffic cam around the corner, which will increase your cost of storage significantly if you need to make a donation to Muriels Slush Fund every time you stop by.

I walked in trying to find a unit. The agents of the office were very punctual with the rental steps. I told them I needed to move in today and it was off from there. Even offered to show me actual units before my decision. If you’re moving extra space is the way. If you are lucky you live near extra space on 2nd st.
