Lived here for almost 3 years and not surprised to see the low rating. The desk staff is great and we love our actual unit, which is what has kept us happy living here. The leasing office and UDR as a company has gone downhill in the last 3 years and doesn’t seem to care about you as a resident. We’ve raised an issue at least 5 times over the past year with no resolution which will most likely result in us moving. As much as we love our space, our neighbors that live here, and the staff that we interact with on a day to day basis, it’s unfortunate that the overarching company is unprofessional and unhelpful. There was a fire over a month ago on the roof and the space is still not fixed. Hopefully this poor management has been a result of a tough year and we will see improvement soon, as we really enjoyed our first 2 years living here.

I loved living here. I was in a studio and it was the perfect size. The location is amazing, I walked everywhere. I never heard any neighbors. If you are facing 14th street it could be noisy but thats expected when living in the city. This was a great building, I always knew where my packages were. The amenities are great. I only left to get roommates and cut cost.

We love the building, and the location is hard to beat. We own a car because we are spoiled with access to a secure parking garage but one truly doesnt need one in this neighborhood, super walkable, close to a ton of shopping, restaurants, cool bars, etc. The management has recently changed, and all of our interactions have been more than pleasant. They seem to really care about the residents, and the few issues that weve had have been fixed quickly.

My roommate and I toured the community, and Corey was our leasing agent. He was very friendly and new exactly what we were looking for. There is a true community feel at the View 14. The location is perfect to night life and metro station. The views from the roof top terrace was stunning! After the tour ended Tatiana the Sales Manager asked how the tour went and carried on a friendly conversation. This UDR community is a must if you are in the market for an apartment in Shaw/Howard University

I have always preferred small buildings or one/two unit townhouses in the past, eschewing big new shiny apartment buildings. I didnt want to pay a premium for a bunch of amenities that I would likely never use. But finding myself needing to move earlier than I planned, I decided to take a look at View 14. All the staff are great and make you feel welcome.I find myself using all the amenities regularly. The fitness center has been great, as I start to get back in shape. I telework often, and having meeting space is great for bringing in clients. Having a party room is great for entertaining guests with kids (my apartment is most definitely NOT child-proofed). The rooftop decks are great for grilling. Im debating throwing out my own printer since I print rarely, and can just use the business center. FedEx, UPS, and USPS all pick up. They have secure package delivery. I can send out my dry cleaning from here. Even things like free coffee every morning I find to be a very welcome useful perk. The maintenance staff are quick to respond to service requests. The concierge are super friendly and helpful. The apartment itself is spacious enough (I live alone), and well laid out. I cook often, so a good kitchen is key. The balcony is small, but enough space for two to sit for a cup of coffee. The location is great, with a Street Market across the street, and just a couple blocks from the Metro. Its easy walking to Dupont, Adams Morgan, Logan Circle, U Street. All in all, I am loving my new apartment. Its even comparably priced to what I was paying for my previous, tiny apartment.

Photograph Everything - Move-out was an ordeal... Management charged me ~$130 for a plastic crisper drawer which I did not break. I know it was damaged after I left, but since it was not noted on the move-in report and they never completed a move-out report, they pinned the damage on me. I tried to argue with them, but they threatened me with calling a collections agency. I figured it wasnt worth the hit to my credit for such a small amount. Take pictures of everything, or better yet, find another building with honest staff.

ProsMaintenance is great, walls and windows very sound proof. Great common space. Concierge.ConsVery deceptive pricing. Utilities for an average apartment is at least $200/month as all these additional fees (admin, trash, etc) are added. They will raise your rates each year more than 10%.
