I absolutely love the service at McGhee’s Auto Service! Everybody there is so nice, welcoming, and very professional. Sam was very fast when he replaced my wheel bearing. He’s super sweet and was very thorough with my car. He told me other things that my car would need fixing on in the future. They were honest about what I needed done and trustworthy. Nice set of men we have here. I will definitely be back!!!

Me and my family member were stranded (out of Gas) in the 90+ degree hot summer last week, and this wonderful gentleman came out of the bank and proceeded to take me to get gas and returned me safely back to my car. This was my first time here and it was a good one in my opinion. The people here give the impression that they are knowledgeable and their prices are better than any dealership.

I took my SUV to McGhees Auto Service to have my brakes checked. I can not emphasize how professional and accommodating they were to me. They explained what needed to be done to my Hyundai and gave me an estimate of the cost. They completed the work in the time frame given. Poor service. I took my car there to get an estimate. They left all my center pieces off my car, an over charge me. They stated $80.00 to check it out. When I arrived they charge me $103.32. I asked an he stated he quoted me the wrong price. I will never return there. Take my advice dont go there.

Helped solve a problem for our nephew that is deployed at a nearby military base. They kept us well informed on repairs and even stayed a bit late on the Friday of Labor Day weekend for pickup.

Jim McGhee was excellent!! I needed my car ready for inspection and it was a fast and simple service.

Was told my car was in great shape, however, unless I paid $100 bucks to get a stabilizer link replaced that was causing my car to make noise (that never made sense), and $48 bucks labor! to replace a tag light, my inspection would not pass. The problem persisted and no explanation could make sense why the problem persists. Such a shame for ripping off people.

I went to McGees auto repair shop, to figure out what was wrong with my car. After a few days go by an employee call me and told me they fix my car with our consent and charge a very high price with out them telling what it was gonna cost. They fixed my car when all I wanted was for them to tell me what was wrong.

Was not pleased with this business. Their prices are too high and their staff are rude.I was cursed at by the man at the desk after asking for warranty information concerning their work. They did not keep me informed on my trucks status but I had to keep calling them. They changed the oil without being asked and then chastised me for putting the wrong oil in my truck. I have owned the truck for 20 years and know what type of oil it uses but not according to their front desk man. I checked with the state of Maryland and this business is in FORFEITURE status. They have not provided relevant paperwork for 16 years. I will be calling the state.

It was an absolute positive experience dealing with McGhees. My check engine light came on last week. I called a garage in Waldorf to schedule an appointment. I explained I could not leave my car overnight as they insisted I needed to do. The lady gave me appointment for the following week and told me to bring something to do because Id be there for a while. She also tried to give me a hard time about keeping up with servicing my car (which I have kept up with). I was truly turned off and annoyed. I then decided to call McGhees. They scheduled me for first thing the next morning. I then called back the other place and canceled. When I got to McGhees my check engine light was off so they couldnt do the diagnostic. They told me to stop by if it came back on. Well, it came back on today. I stopped by unannounced and no appointment. I was immediately helped. The diagnostic was completed and two mechanics looked over the issue. They even filled my windshield wiper fluid and put a little oil where my hood latches. I was ensured it was safe to drive my car and my light was reset. They couldnt find a leaking hose. When I asked how much I owed (knowing a diagnostic costs anywhere between $75 - $100) I was told I owed nothing! I couldnt believe it. I did tip which he didnt want to take but I pushed the money in to his hand! If you need any work on your vehicle I highly recommend McGhees!

First time in 30+ years I trusted someone other than the dealership with my cars. Tried McGhees Auto since they are conveniently next door to my workplace. It is a quality car repair shop with knowledgeable, reliable and personable mechanics. They provided fair grading and pricing for a Maryland state inspection. I greatly appreciate their quick work (so far, an oil change and headlight replacement) that seems to accommodate my schedule more than theirs. They go above and beyond even picking up/dropping off my car and finding the OEM part number for me to save money on a new headlight assembly on-line, who does that. Definitely will consider and recommend them for future maintenance and repairs.

I dont do online reviews, but for these guys I make an exception. I drive an hour each way to get to them and am willing to pay the deductible on their service as opposed to the dealers free service. Their pricing structure is competitive with others, often better. But honestly, you cant buy trust. These guys have earned mine.They dont try to force a repair on you if you dont need it and the work they do has always been top notch. Who ever heard of a dealer advising against a repair? Well these guys did. Cant tell you how many OTHER shops have wanted to do extra work on my car that wouldve cost me a bundle...mine is a performance rally car so the parts and labor are always crazy expensive.Theyre also careful about not getting you into heavy diagnosis fees, attempting to locate the problem as quickly and accurately as possible without tearing the car apart and charging you a ton (like other shops have). Ive found service on things as simple as an oil change can be hit or miss with a dealer. Not these guys...they pay attention to details and theyre very friendly chaps too. Waldorf isnt exactly a tourist attraction, but this shop is worth the drive.Update : been across the country now and still havent found a better mechanic. Ive never missed a mechanic before, but these guys are phenomenal people.

I am extremely picky when it comes to my vehicles and typically nobody touches them but me, but when some lady crashed into my car I had to choose somewhere to have the repairs done on Geicos dime. I got a good vibe from this place when I had a couple of my vehicles inspections done here in the past, so I had them do the repairs from the accident. They did a great job, they communicated with me really well throughout the process, the customer service was above and beyond, and they even called a couple of weeks after the truck left the shop to make sure everything was still going well with the truck. This place is the real deal and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

They are also very honest, and their prices are realistic and affordable. They have helped me in many jams, and gave me the best prices on things like synthetic oil changes, tires, and general maintenance. The mechanics there are definitely top notch, and have shown some of the best expertise in automotive maintenance that I have ever encountered. I will never go to another auto service shop in Southern Maryland. McGhees is where its at!

Just had my car serviced at McGhees Auto Service in Waldrof, MD again. They do an excellent job, I got an oil and filter change, rotate and balance tires, buffed my headlights, replaced wiper blades and replaced battery. All at a reasonable price. The personnel at McGhees are very friendly and helpful. If I have a question about my car, they usually have an answer for me. I really trust McGhees, good people.

I have been in the automotive/sales and a owner of a repair shop. By far the experience that the mechanics and owner have exceed 150 plus years together. They are very knowledgeable and do great work that a lot of shops wont even touch. They are old school and new schooled, great combination. When I was in Auto Parts sales, I went to every shop in southern Md every week and I will tell you by far they are top notch ! You want your car fix right, this is where you need to go. As i was reading some of the comments i noticed some of the people what to price shop, no shop can give you a price without looking at it and calling around and getting prices etc. So as far as the few 1 star reveiws, that is just wrong on your behalf... I found this place on Google because the reviews were very good. I had an estimate for front brakes and rotors from another company for $900. I went to this place today, and they told me that my brakes were fine, and all I needed to do was change the rotors.They gave me two choices. They can file the ones I had,but it would last about three to four months,or change it completely. The price the quoted me was very reasonable. Its so hard to find trustworthy mechanics these days,but I found one!!!. McGhees Auto Service!!! You should get ****** You deserve 6 stars!Mr McGhee,the owner was very nice. What a disappointment!!! I had the timing belt, water pump and components replaced. FOUR days, ONLY FOUR, after getting my vehicle back the car died. the worst part being I was visiting a friend in Baltimore. However I was willing to rate them highly and disregard one persons discrimination of my lifestyle because sometimes things happen, parts fail etc.They working team was great, the receptionist was very nice and helpful to as so much provide me with a ride to my rental car provider near the mall. The mechanic I was able to speak with on several occasions was very nice. He even took me to the car showed me the issue, and explained the process which I was the reason I had taken the car into a shop at all. I thank both of them for their STRONG customer service.The one person whom I had reoccurring issues with was consistently rude, with a bullies demeanor when we spoke. He questioned my knowledge of vehicle maintenance and belittled every answer I provided of the vehicles history and issue.When the car was returned, I hadnt even got home when there was an issue with the passenger side. I had investigated and found a bolt missing from the brake system and has etched a groove to the inner wall of the rim. The car has been since been placed back into responsibility of the McGhee repair shop. My car was taken to a dealership for diagnosis when it was revealed the damage caused, and in addition to the timing belt, there was extensive damage relating back to the timing belt failure. The vehicle has been in their possession for 2 WEEKS and has jot even been looked at plus the shop is now not answering any of my phone calls.

Went to Mcgees for a MD State inspection.. I knew what was wrong with the car cause I am a mechanic, needed two front tires and front bellows done.. the tires which I changed myself were done.. but I needed the actual inspection paper.. after dropping the car off, I expected a turnaround of about a day or less depending on their shop traffic.. 10 hours later, no car, so I call to check the progress.. when I was informed that a stud on my tires (yes 1 on each front tire) studs had broke off due to the person repairing it..ok no harm no foul.. Ill receive it the next day, until I go to actually go to pick it up.. knowing there was nothing wrong with the tire studs previously because I had not more than 5 hours before changed them myself (unbeknownst to the mechanic). THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE NEGLIGENCE THAT THEY HAD DONE... So on top of being charged the $200 something for the bellows and inspection.. they ended up charging me over $300+ because of their own employees mistakes.. after telling them about their plunder and how there was no way it was previously damaged.. the service clerk got an attitude with me saying You shouldve been here when they took it off and put it on.. needless to say Ill never recommend theifs to anyone.. my word of advice.. Stay Away..

I have been having my cars serviced by Jim McGee for 20yrs +They have always been able to answer my questions and get the job done right and in a timely manner .They are courteous and professional .

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Would be zero stars if I was able to rate that low! When I called ahead of time to get an estimate for a power steering pump replacement, he would not give it to me and insisted to see the car to make sure that was the problem. All the other shops I called gave me and estimate over the phone. So I asked how much it would be to check the car out and he said nothing. Left the car over night with the shop and the next day I get a phone call that I also need a line replacement, no big deal until he tells me the total price for everything! I drove to the shop to get a cost breakdown, and the two parts that he wanted to replace are 2 to almost 3 times the price of the parts from AutoZone. I asked where the parts were from and was told Carquest, so I asked if I could just get my own parts and pay them for labor. I was told I would be charged extra for that, and then the manager/owner stated how would you like it if I went into your bank account and took half of your money away? How can a shop that has morals, request to charge $125 for a power steering pump and $58 for the line, when the parts are $45 and $19 at AutoZone and $60 and $30 at Carquest where the parts were that they wanted to buy were coming from???? Thats double what they were going to pay for the parts!!!! Then I wanted my car back to take it somewhere else, and he wanted to originally charge me $108 for looking at the car, over an hour of labor. When I questioned how much time was spent looking at the car, he said 30 minutes. Do not believe the other reviews online for this repair shop, they are all fake!!! Go down the street to one of the other dozen shops. I paid less than half of what McGhees wanted at another shop and the work was completed quicker than it took McGhees to even look at my car! I will NEVER take my car to this shop again, even if everyone else is closed, I would rather walk!!! AVOID THIS SHOP!!!!

McGhees fixed my 2000 Pontiac Grand- Prix, they are a very honest business and they were very upfront about what was going on. I am grateful for this shop because Im a woman and ive been taken advantage of at 2 other body shops, im so glad my friend referred me to McGhees. I highly recommend this shop. I want especially the single ladies to know you can trust McGhees they gave me a good vibe so i thought to myself hey ok let me just try them im so satisfied. My daughter and I will now have our car on the road im going to refer my girlfriends as well its about time we have a shop that dont take advantage of us, im very happy I trust this shop
