I am a retired Physical Therapist and I have just joined. After several decades of living in the Hampton Roads area and belonging to several fitness facilities this is the best one that I have belonged to .Silver sneakers program for seniors covers my membership. The fitness area is extremely clean and I feel very safe there during this pandemic.Excellent choices of strength training equipment, cardio, and classes as well as the personal training program (which is extremely affordable).Very friendly staff throughout the whole facility, clean locker rooms, beautiful pools.I highly suggest this facility, especially the Personal Training program led by Tom Purcell .

Self defense classes every Tuesday & Thursday from 6p to 7p. All are invited, your self-defense is your responsibility

Very frustrated with canceling my membership. They say 30 days to cancel and I got charged on the 30th day for another month and they would not refund all or even part of my money for the month. Will never join again and will never recommend it to anyone.

I dont think my child enjoyed his time here at all. There are many other summer camp programs in the area with better safety standards & quality instructors.

Excellent family center. The indoor and outdoor pool areas are wonderful for the family, and the in door basketball court and gym are always clean.

Ample parking. Modern layout. Top quality programming. Community outreach & A+ activities. A true Gem for the Hampton Roads community.

The JCC is pretty good as a community convention/exercise center, but as a Jewish institution, it unfortunately falls rather flat. There is very little accommodation for the Orthodox and Modern Orthodox Jewish community, and it’s educational aspect is subpar in most areas of Jewish history and culture, with the possible exemption of Holocaust studies. The institution’s unwillingness to accommodate its more religious members has led to an unfortunate schism in the local Jewish community over the past few decades, resulting in an ever-growing cultural divide that was entirely preventable. This is not to say that the JCC has not done positive things, but our community has so much potential, and it makes me both sad and hopeful to think how much better we could be. Hopefully things will improve, and there has certainly been an added sense of unity in the community ever since COVID, so there is room to keep hoping.

Great Personal trainers with most having 10 plus years experience with a wide variety of degrees. For just a little over $1 per day, you cant beat this value. No Commitment month to month memberships. FREE WEEK passes to any local. You will not find a better value than the JCC and they want you to use their facility. Open everyday except for 3 days out of the year. Get a PT and set your GOALS for FREE. All abilities work out here. From the kids getting ready for sports, college and professional athletes to our seniors. We have the Silver Sneaker membership with great classes that go along. You can reach out to our Wellness & Membership Director on his personal cell phone. You cant find that kind of personal service anywhere. JCC has state of the art equipment that they update and add new pieces annually. No extra up charge. This is a place worth seeing.

Friendliest and most blessed gym Ive ever gone too. Ive not ever experienced such a great daycare where I feel safe to have my kids and go work out at the same time. During the covid pandemic my son always asked to continue to go back to the gym. We love this place. Thank you

JFit located here offers a variety of group fitness classes as well as top workout equipment to get your lifting and cardio in. The place is kept clean and floor staff is available to guide you and or answer your work out questions!!

Very clean and nice! Locker services and has a small restaurant inside near the gym. All employees have been extremely friendly. I use it for child care while working out. The ladies in the child care are great! Doesn’t seem like many people use the service but they have a ton of toys and a jungle gym inside. The gym is really nice with all the equipment you’ll need. Trainers are friendly and actually speak to you unless some places. Haven’t used the outdoor stuff but the water park looks great! Hear they will have massage service soon too!!

Ive been here twice after being recommended this place by my mother and so far I LOVE IT! My kids love it as well. VERY, VERY CLEAN! Extremely updated. Has lots of cool things inside you dont find at a rec center. I love the wet bathing suit dryer I think that is so nice to have. Very spacious womens locker room with big huge body mirrors, and get this they even have 2 hair dryers plugged in in front of two vanity mirrors if you wanted to do your hair or makeup! Along with cotton swabs and q-tips. They definitely make you feel like youre at a luxury place, no lie. Also, I was helped by Leah(spellcheck) and another young man at the front counter with dreads. I forgot his name but both of these employees were EXCEPTIONAL! Awesome customer service and they made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Very helpful and friendly. Other staff was polite, too. I couldnt leave a more positive review for this place and I will be spreading the word. Me and my kids love the Jewish community center!!

This is a wonderful place. Beautiful, peaceful, clean and friendly. I love their pools for my family and my kiddos. Great slides outside and fun entry pool. Inside is even a play area for younger kids during the winter. Great work out room and all classes are included in membership. Ive loved all of the ones Ive tried. They also offer very interesting programs, some Jewish focused, others not.

I have been a member for years - Open hours were posted and when I went to the facility, it was closed. My efforts to obtain an answer failed. VERY inconvenient

Rating this from a fitness center perspective: When you walk in, youre supposed to tell a security guard where you plan on going prior to going in the facility. Once in, I didnt experience a super friendly front desk attendant. In fact, she seemed a bit dismissive, I was using a discount pass for the place and she had no interest to talk to me anymore than completely necessary. I asked about the personal training sessions ( the discount pass supposedly includes 2!) and she said to talk to them back there and thats where you pay for it. What? I reminded her of the pass I was using and this meant nothing to the girl.About the building, half of the first floor is actually a school and obviously, off limits to fitness patrons. There is a small walk- up café that is completely shut down on weekends and open until 2p weekdays. The lobby itself feels like a business office, not necessarily where Id want to walk in with loud colored fitness apparel or swim cover ups!The indoor pool area is smaller and was a bit strong smelling in chlorine, perhaps due to the lower ceilings. The outside pool area looked fairly large and comparable to a Y facility. The shower rooms housed a compact sauna as well as a steam room. I have heard mixed reviews on the cleanliness of steam rooms in general, and according to another review, this one evidently doesnt always work ( just something to be mindful of.)The exercise studios are upstairs, there are 2 of them. The person who showed me the rooms actually told me the wrong room numbers, that was interesting since they do work there (?). Neither seemed different than your basic setup, a bit outdated in décor. What really stood out was, the overpowering smell of Fabuloso cleanser in the workout area upstairs. If youve ever used this cleanser, youd be able to spot that flowery smell anywhere. I thought to the bleach commercials, where the spokeswoman is talking down about flower scented cleansers and says, If you want clean, use (bleach)! I would think there is some germicide that should be used, and perhaps is, in addition to the Fabuloso.Thats the whole place, fitness wise. I got the impression they didnt want discount folks in there and first impressions say a lot. If you live nearby, hey check it out.. there be different workers on staff, an energetic front desk person that would also tell you about yhe 7 day pass you can use to check out the facility, it wasnt even offered and my pass was only for 1 person.

I love the accommodations here. Perfect for the entire family. Childcare is provided and the life love the pool(indoor and outdoor) and water play area. The fitness classes are great and everyone is friendly.

Haven’t had good experiences unfortunately. Bathrooms are real clean and everything looks great. There is only one squat/bench rack. The other is a smith machine. A few free weight machines but generally cable machines and an abundance of cardio equipment. My main issue is the gym scheduling. There are always events going on in the gym preventing people from playing basketball and a schedule is supposed to provide some alleviation from the constant pain of the gym being full. It was open gym from 5:30 to close tonight. I got there to the gym being full of people playing pickleball. I ask the employee behind the desk how come the entire gym is full when pickleball has hours in the morning. His reply was that “i don’t know why they are there either”. Why am I paying money for gym access when people will not adhere to the schedule? I understand going 15min over but when I ask the people playing, they expressed they intended to stay until closing? Someone can take over the gym for FOUR hours when they are not even supposed to be there? Sooo....why is the schedule posted again? I’ve only been a member for a little more than a week but if it continues like it has, I’m going to cancel my membership.

I absolutely love this place!!! I mostly come here for my swim team, but I will say that this is a building made with love. The place is also kept nice and tidy despite the numerous amount of people that conjugate in this establishment. Definitely recommend.

Great Community Center! Very clean and well maintained along with a awesome staff. Excited to hear Veritas Collegiate Academy and JCC have partnered up. Best facilities and school, you cant beat that!

Great Fitness area with lots to offer. Classes are small and friendly. The staff in the fitness center are helpfull, my best experiences have been early mornings . Everyone is very attentive and even recieved help from members. My evening experiences have not been as good. Staffing seemed preocupied and not involved with cetain members. Overall a great place.

Phenomenal facilities and superb customer service. Outdoor pool, indoor pool workout Area Basketball Court, putt putt and so much more. I feel privileged to be a member there!

Instructors are very good. The facility is clean, staff is friendly and eager to help. It has an activity for everyone, young and older. I am impressed with the level of care. I believe you can experience an improvement in overall wellbeing.

The BEST place to work out. Very clean and staff is awesome. The only criticism is that their hours on the weekend is very limited.

This is a horrible place with horrible people. I signed a contract a year ago not expecting then to lose my job and be hospitalized. I cant afford to pay my bills, put gas in my car, or buy my baby a crib because I get $60 taken out of my account every single month. I have explained this to them and they do not care, the only thing these people care about is trapping you in a contract so you have to give them money every month. All you are is a bag of money to these people they dont care about you or your health. STAY FAR FAR AWAY do not think because they claim to be a church they will have any mercy on you if something happens to you, your contract and money is MUCH more important than you being a person to these people.

Facility is kept clean and orderly. Staff has always been kind and respectful to me and my family. Workout area can get packed at times, but nothing a little patience cant solve.Outside pool is primarily geared towards kids, but the lifeguards are very friendly.
