I pay for “24 hour access” and yet this location does not seem to understand what “24 hours” means. Putting a sign outside saying “no access permitted” for whatever reason, negates the validity of “24 hour access”. They need to choose between the customers who pay for 24 hours, and those who rent the facility for other reasons. With the current business model, they are “double dipping”. This is a textbook example of false advertising, especially since they don’t tell you about this when you sign up. I also don’t see why this is necessary, since the group who rents the faculty for “assembly” reasons, is certainly not using the weights and fitness machines. There is no reason to lock us out.

Im giving this YMCA 5 Stars based on the facilities, employees, and the professionalism and care by the managers that handled the incident of harassment by the church group members towards my wife when she went to work out on Sunday. I still thinks its worth mentioning that this isnt an isolated incident and I hope it gets corrected, because the YMCA I know does not support that kind of behavior and discrimination.

I go here because they have nice equipment. Ive been a member for roughly 2 years and the last year of that membership Ive dealt with some of the rudest most arrogant staff Ive had at any gym, even management seems to think theyre doing you a favor. Occasionally Ill have a kind respectful employee but 7/10 times they act like theyre doing you a favor. If youre looking for a gym to build friendships and relationships at keep looking but if you can look past the rude staff then youve found a great place to lose weight

Not a friendly family center. I have been a member for a year. The head trainer Cathy, has been out of her office 10 times all together since I have been there. I have seen kids run a muck, playing on equipment and no parent supervision. The day I take my son, which I am a certified personal trainer through NASM, she comes out and explains to me I cannot have my son there. This fitness center does not care about your health and well being or your childrens health. I have canceled my membership and will be blacklisting this gym from Military members.

We attended a dual outdoor swim meet this weekend (November 7/8) and were told on Sunday the building was not open for restroom use. The building had multiple facilities that could have been open to limit close proximity. All families and swimmers totaling over 100 people were limited to use the single person restrooms on the pool deck with no attendants available to clean the facility. We were screened upon entering the pool deck, but this was absolutely unnecessary and not safe during the current COVID-19 situation. Unfortunately the host team got the brunt of the blow and had to monitor restroom use, it was disappointing that the YMCA didn’t accommodate for the amount of families that were in attendance for this sporting event.

Attended a swim meet at the facility. Decent overall with plenty of parking and helpful staff. Plus they had free coffee in the lounge. Which was good since I had to be there by 6:50AM for three days straight. Outdoor pool is good, plus it had chillers for the swimmers. Important when the pool temps could spike due to the hot weather. Recommend.

This location is really nice. This was my first time going as a member and the staff was friendly and helpful with showing me where the pool is. The pool is perfect for toddlers. My 1 year old and 3 year old definitely loved playing in the water and definitely didn’t want to leave. My most memorable part of our visit, was the childcare staff letting me take my boys to the play area outside. I think it’s used for the kids in stay and play but I was nervous they would say since my kids weren’t staying in there we couldn’t let them play. They were so nice about it and my sons had a blast! I can’t wait to go back!

Excellent place to get in shape the water classes are great for those of us who have sustained back injuries using the water helps with the stress and its much easier to walk taking the aquatic aerobics class is also a great way to workout without over stressing the body. And a slow walk on the treadmill is helpful its a bit pricey especially if youre Retired but in the end youll get excellent service and classes taught by certified instructors. So if you looking to shape up or just keep your mobility the Y is the place that can help with that.

It is still expensive even with Open Doors....there isnt an option to pause your membership with no penalties and then you apparently need to go in face to face to cancel it. Plus, if you cant afford it, you will still owe on that month forever...so hard for people on limited income just trying to excercise at a place that offers childcare during that time. This location just needs better staff training and more flexibility on payment options. All members need to be treated with respect, no matter how much money they make. On a side note, I didnt notice a bunch of teenagers just aimlessly wondering the halls here like at the rec.

Friendly staff. The location is nice, but sometimes the family restrooms arent kept up very well (some showers barely work). The gym is nice. My son was part of the after school program and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we didnt find they were working with our son on his homework. We decided to switch to Joonbi Taekwondo. My only other complaint would be with their swim lesson program. Whenever they cancel a class, they give you a $5 voucher to sing up for another swim class on the last day of class. It would be nice if they either credited or refunded the money instead of forcing you to sign up again!

Very friendly staff. The facility is generally very well maintained. The child care is great - your Y membership allows for 2 hours of free childcare per day. There is a nursing room for breastfeeding mothers; however, many members use this as a change room for the pool so when you go to use it there are people in it, then when they leave the nursing chair is wet. There is usually free coffee and tea in the lobby.

I went to check this place out and consider beginning a membership and the first impression was good. Everything seemed good quality and in order. All the machines in the gym are electronic. While an employee was showing me the gym, she told me that there are 3 complimentsry orientation lessons with the membership (that are kind of essential being everything is electronic, plus you need to put your info in a kiosk to give you an exercise plan or something like that). Im the type of person that asks many questions to make sure that I dont waste my time, so I asked if I had to make an appointment for those lessons or if I could just walk in the first day and ask the person at the desk to assist me. She told me I could just walk in and ask the person at the desk. Well a week later I went to start the free week and the first day was enough to never go back again. After I lost a good 30 minutes signing up, I went in the gym and waited a few minutes to be able to talk to someone, while waiting at the empty desk. Finally someone asked what I need and I explain that Im new and need the orientation lesson, I also said that I was told I could just ask and have someone available to give me this lesson. Her answer was just do you want to schedule it? I said, cant I do it now? And she again, do you want to schedule it? With no explanation or apology for the miscommunication they have between employees. Quickly the conversation became an argument and the employee doesnt apologize once, she insisted with cold blood that I have to schedule the lesson because she is busy and implying she cant lose time with me. She gets angry at me for being upset that I went there and lost hours for their mistakes and said if I had something to say I would have to go to her supervisor which I did it and the supervisor was super nice and professional. That employee at the desk was definitely unprofessional, unapologetic and rude that made me quickly reevaluate my willingness to be part of that environment. There was no way for me to start doing anything that day without anyone explaining to me how to use the machines or any type of orientation. So I started the free week and immediately started losing days and lost at least 3 important hours of my day with nothing to show. I immediately went to the Rec Center and they were more than friendly and professional, 1/3 of the price and the machines are all new, actually this October they are replacing them all again. Now Im a member at the Rec Center and happy to save money and be in a great friendly place.

Very rude front desk attendants and disorganized. This Y really isnt worth the price per month, it is a very small location...the gym is similar to a mini Planet Fitness (although Ive been told they have more weight lifting things at PF) and the pool outside is for swim leagues, not members! You wont get quality customer service here, which is very important to most. I am looking forward to One Life opening close by b/c I heard they have a large childcare, pool, tanning beds, classes, saunas etc for $29 a month, for everyone. That just seems like a better deal now :/

I used to work out at Planet Fitness but needed a place that had daycare for my 7 year old while I worked out. A friend of mine suggested the Y because he is a long time employee at another location so I decided to give it a shot. My daughter and I both fell in love instantly. Its really good for those rainy days when you just want to get out and be active. My oldest daughter (17) comes down for the summer and we added to our family plan in literally 5 seconds. Now shes in love with it too (which is saying a lot for a 17 year old girl) . I had no idea what I was missing but I do know my whole family will be members for life. This is quickly becoming our home away from home.

This facility is not about improving or maintaining its equipment. The weight lifting equipment is always out of order, cable machine wires are fraying all over, and they drag due to the lack of maintenance. This facility has been told bu myself and others many of times, but rather than improve or maintain the equipment, they put it off until it breaks. This facility is not ideal for those attempting to lift heavy weights. This facility needs better up to date equipment.Plus there is three different size carabiners and not enough for every machine.Seems like every time I come one or more of the machines appears to not work or lacks maintenance. Today the hid sled is not working properly. When i first started here all the machines were maintained and lubricated. Now everything lately has been slowly falling apart and is degrading. With the money people spend here you would figure they would reinvest in the weight lifting equipment and not just the aerobics stuff. Have the aerobic machines are always empty anyways.Hip sled up one day down the next with a sign of OUT OF ORDER. The next day its back in order and still broke the same as the day prior to it going out of order.Like they always say the staff is a direct representation of the management and the gym itself.I can tell you not all YMCAs are like this. The saratoga Springs one was amazing and up to date.If you want to build muscle and lift weights this isnt the gym for you. Lack of equipment, variety of machines, and machines that are in working order are not here.

2017 SUMMER CAMP was AWFUL for three reasons:(1) Overcrowded gym. It was so loud that I could not hear a teacher when I was dropping off my child. Kids were staying in that gym all day (!!!) with only an hour break for swimming, an hour for a game room, and an afternoon outdoor play.(2) Kids that went there. Some kept splashing water in my childs face for an hour while the group was in the pool. Others refused to play with my child saying Go away! My child is accepted well in all kinds of social groups. So, it was our first negative experience of that kind. AND(3) Teachers. I talked to the teacher about what happened a day earlier. It seemed that the teacher understood me and was willing to work on the issues. However, when I came back, my child again was by itself. Moreover, another teacher was all smiles and did not even ask what happened, when my child told her that he/she is not coming back after 2 days of camp. So, RUN AWAY! Does not worth $245 ($50 registration + $195 tuition) plus frustration.

The Princess Anne Family YMCA of Virginia Beach, Virginia is a great YMCA that gave me a great workout experience, and exceeded my expectations. Heres why I liked the Princess Anne Family YMCA:Princess Anne Family YMCA has such a large variety of equipment for whatever type of exercise you might be looking for. For example it doesnt matter if youre into cardio, weightlifting, swimming, spinning, running, or cross-fit because theres something for everyone. Not only does the Princess Anne Family YMCA have a variety of equipment, but its also the newest equipment on the market. This is not only the latest and greatest equipment, but its also laid out perfectly throughout the Princess Anne Family YMCA. I have been to several other YMCAs, but none compare to the Princess Anne Family YMCA. No other training facilities or gyms can compete with the Princess Anne Family YMCAs equipment, equipment cleanliness, employee professionalism, facility cleanliness, or overall facility as a whole. Also all employees at the Princess Anne Family YMCA are prompt, professional, courteous, and tactful. Every employee at Princess Anne Family YMCA went above and beyond for me. Princess Anne Family YMCA of Virginia Beach has a welcoming atmosphere that leaves the customer wanting to come back time and time again. The overall cleanliness of the Princess Anne Family YMCA is above average from other YMCAs I have been to as well. Finally, the Princess Anne Family YMCA is easy to find, and also has accessible parking.
