We just bought 4 new rugs from Gonsenhauser’s (just 2 of them are pictured. Their take it “on approval” process makes getting the right rugs totally risk free. Take the rug home, try it in your house and then either bring it back or pay for it. The store personnel are really knowledgeable, very helpful and not the least bit pushy. We worked with Kimberly Pregmon and she is absolutely awesome...great color sense. We went in with a sofa cushion, a pillow and some pictures on our iPad and found a living room and foyer rug in no time. Thanks, Kimberly. It was a pleasure working with you!

I hate to be sold. I even made it clear when I walked in that, I might get overwhelmed... I knew there where tons of choices and like paint, I can only look at so many before they all look the same. Kimberly came to my aid with the assistance of a young man and they made fast work of the process. She was respectful of my time and didnt waste any of it getting to the heart of the matter. I purchased a painful looking rug from Wayfair that was 9 x 12 and turned out to be too thick, too big and too orange. That helped her figure out the size i needed. I wanted a grey and orange, low pile, possibly antique-looking, size to be determined rug. Kimberly has an Amazing Kreskin like ability to locate any rug in the building. She got me and what I was looking for, but showed me a few other possibilities and BOOM!!! I got this black/grey beauty. Then she pulled me over to the close out, or whatever its called, section and I grabbed a smaller cream colored ditty for the living room!! My favorite part was when she said Just take em home. If you dont like them, bring em back. Youre not really gonna know if you like them til you see them in your house. Whaaaat?!?!?! Mind. Blown. I love my rugs! Their tent sale is the best deal ANYWHERE. Their rugs are always high quality, but at the tent sale its really a steal. Im very picky when it comes to textiles, and I found two rugs that I love within 10 minutes of looking. I was very specific too I want 6x7 gray woven. The owner suggested using the back side of a rug because I wanted the woven look... genius!

We used them to clean a larger area rug and it turned out great! We even bought a new large carpet when we picked the cleaned one up. The savings were amazing! Trinity was very patient and walked us around the store each time we visited. She gave us many options for when we return to buy more.

Just got a quote to clean my 7.5 x 10.5 rug which has no stain and one tiny dog urine spot. I almost fell out of my chair... How can you charge $321. to clean this rug with a straight face?? Geez, I bought the rug online at Overstock for $300. Yall are smoking crack!

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I cannot say enough nice things about my experience with Mark and his team. They were accommodating at every step of the process. We ended up purchasing 4 beautiful rugs that look wonderful in our new home. Marks team of consultants and rug turners brought out 13 different samples to our home for us to consider. They were patient and gracious with their time, showing us each rug (moving tables, couches, beds, etc. each time so we could see the rugs with our furniture!) and allowing us the opportunity to determine if we liked how it sat in the room. One of the best things is the ability to take home a rug before having to make a decision on purchasing it so you can see how it looks in your home. We picked out a rug that we thought we really liked but after getting it home, not so much. Fortunately all we had to do was roll it back up and take it back which we then picked another rug to test drive and bring home. No return paperwork, no having to pay for shipping like would have had to do if ordered online from some other store. I have been working with Tabitha to find a new living room rug and the experience could not have been more pleasant. The whole staff is so friendly and eager to flip rug after rug so I can see them all. They will deliver several rugs to your house so you can see how they look in your room, or you can pick up and return rugs to make your choice. We werent sure whether an 8 X 10 or a 9 X 12 would be better. Tabitha brought out several in both sizes and it made all of the difference!! The room really needed a 9 X12 and seeing it on the floor helped tremendously. They have all price ranges and even their sale rugs are great. Now comes the hard part, deciding which of the fabulous rugs to buy. I love them all!Stop by even just to look. They are such a welcoming store.

Dont let the size of the store front fool you - this place is HUGE. To say they have a large selection of rugs to choose from is an understatement. And Diane was so helpful! She was extremely knowledgeable. When we told her we were on a budget, she did not try to pressure us into a more expensive rug than what we were looking for. They let us have a trial run with the rug at our house to make sure that it would work out with our setup/furniture, etc. Would definitely recommend this place!

Just got a place in Virginia Beach and needed to have a very heavy rug cut and bound onsite. Was lucky enough to Google carpet repair/binding and Mark Gonsenhausers Rug & Carpet Store popped up. I placed a call to them and was put in touch with Alex. He was excellent and worked right with us to get the job done on our timetable. He sent Manuel and Antonio to do the job. They went above and beyond to do exactly what we wanted. They perfectly cut our carpet and bound it onsite. They were very skilled, happy people, and a pleasure to have in our home. This experience wasnt that great I called them and they told a man would come out to measure to see how much everything was gonna cost and that it will be a fifty dollar fee for him to come and he came and took the fee but I havent heard back for the man they put me in contract with and it has been three weeks to get the price so this experience has not been good and never again would I shop here.

In August of 2016, I took three handmade rugs to the store to be cleaned. I had purchased these rugs when I was completing some military service in Pakistan so they were very important to me. About 4 weeks later I went to pick them up and 2 of the 3 were cleaned satisfactory. However the 3rd one, which was 4’ x 6’, had extensive color run across 80% of the rug. I paid almost 175 dollars for this rug to be cleaned by itself, since my dog had an accident on it and urine extraction was fairly expensive. When I questioned the young lady on the floor she was helpful but unsure what to do. She promised to talk to Alex and call me 2 days later. No call so I called back 5 days later. Alex was busy but he would call me back. 2 more days pass and no call so I tried again and was told Alex was busy but he would return my call promptly. After I explained that was yet to be done, the sales lady promised me she would take care of it. Alex did return the call this time and I explained my concerns of the color run across the rug. He said, “well you signed the waiver about that when you dropped it off right?” I explained that I did sign a waiver after it was explained that the color run was improbable and if it did occur it would only be minor and where my dog urinated. Having said this I was unhappy and Alex agreed to talk to the owner Mark regarding my concerns. Today after nearly 4 weeks, me placing 5 more calls to the store, I finally talked to Alex again. He advised that he talked to the owner and I signed the waiver so there was nothing they would do but and I quote “there is an old Persian dude in New York that can fix the color run but in will cost in the hundreds, I mean hundreds.” I asked why avoid my calls, keep my rug for an additional month, just to say there’s nothing to be done and then try to sell me an additional service? He advised, “I’m just a manger and I don’t have that authority.” At the end of the day the rug is damaged and if I’m to believe the store, color run only occurs where a dog pees and 80% of the rug has color run which is impossible. I’m no rug expert, nor is that the point. The lack of customer service was appalling and they kept stringing me along only to try to sell me more at the end. It’s a nice store, with a lot of merchandise and they cleaned two of my rugs fine. If you want to take the chance on them cleaning your heirlooms in the future, good luck. Please remember if there is any problems with their work they will not fix their errors, delay responses and maybe even try and upsell you like they did me. BUYER BEWARE!

Bought a new rug today and it was a great experience. I hate shopping for big ticket items like this, but our salesperson Bonnie made it a pleasant and easy experience. They had a great selection and several options to meet our needs. Cant wait for my new couch to be delivered so I can put it all together!

In summary, Id consider buying a rug from this place but will definitely go elsewhere for my next carpeting project.Heres the story of my experience:Im happy with the installer for our stair runner, but the customer service on the sales side was quite disappointing. Kim helped me pick out several samples after I described my stair and showed her pictures. I was particularly concerned about the landing and bottom steps that were wider than the rest, but she assured me that the carpet could be cut and bound at any width I chose after the installer came to measure, so if I wanted, for example, only 5 of wood to show on each side of the runner, that wouldnt be a problem.First, after I decided on a sample and she had given me a price, she told me it had been discontinued earlier in the year. (When I went back to pick samples again, I noticed it was still on the rack.) So I picked a different color that was available. Then she told me she calculated the price wrong and it was actually about double what she first quoted me... I was a little frustrated at this point, but wanted to get my project done so proceeded to order.She said shed give me a call within the next 2 weeks when the product came in. I heard absolutely nothing for 4 weeks. I ended up reaching out to her. Based on my discussion with the installer, I was expecting that he would bring out the carpet to cut for the landing and then take it back to get the edges serged, but she said it was all ready to be installed, so I assumed they were able to prepare the carpet based on the measurements Ed had done the first time he was at my house.Ed came to my house with the carpet on Saturday, but there was nothing cut for the landing, and the width was not even close to what we had measured for and discussed. He was surprised too.When he talked to Kim that day, she said this particular carpet only comes as a roll runner in one width and she knew nothing about a landing. What?! That is complete B.S. She saw pictures of my stair and I specifically discussed the width concerns with her. Why would she even show me that carpet if thats the case, much less sell it to me if she knew the product couldnt do what I wanted? (Plus she had received the measurements from Ed, which makes me question how exactly she calculated my price? Ed had taken photos also, which I presume were shared with Kim along with his measurements.)The installer did a great job making it look as good as possible under the circumstances, but its not what I was expecting it to be based on my interactions with Kim, and I feel like I got a bit ripped off by her.

Mark Gonsenhauser has a large selection of traditional and transitional rugs in every size imaginable. Tabitha King was a great help in selecting a rug that suited my needs, and the stores approval policy meant that I could take three (or more) rugs home to try without committing. I recently asked a friend and local interior decorator where to take my hall runners that needed cleaning. While she knew me and how frugal I can be, she recommended I take them to a carpet store 45 minutes away from my house. She said Id be happy. The runners had been in a highly trafficked area of our house for 8 years with our 2 cats and 2 kids. Their staff was very careful to explain the risks that stains may become more evident after cleaning. That did not happen. I was completely satisfied. It was worth the trip!

Ms. Samareh quickly located products we defined as our needs and suggested we take home for free trial the 9x13 rug that we selected. Ms Lorie Armstrong was helpful and efficient when she arranged for cleaning, repairing, and appraisal of rugs we had carried to the store with us. Mark Gonsenhausers Rug Store SAVED MY RUG!!! No thanks to my cat Charlie, Lori and her team had to work extremely hard to remove the cat urine odor and stain from my dining room rug. But they got it done! While it wasnt a rug that I purchased at Gonsenhausers, if Charlie decides to make his mark again I will definitely be going there for a new one. Mark Gonsenhauser and his team at the Rug & Carpet Superstore represent all that is good in human nature. I was a recent victim of a Turkish rug selling scam. Thankfully, Mr. Gonsenhauser alerted me to this fact in time for me to stop payment on a check and avoid a significant financial impact. But that was not the end of things. His team then assisted me in preparing the rug for shipment back to the (shady) company, arranged for shipping, and tracked the return process through to completion.
