I had a ford brought in with a boatload of problems and they returned it to me within the next 3 days. The car has never sounded better, ran smoother, or been so quiet in my entire time driving it. Gary was a fantastic helper and very frequent with updates on the car. He was also very welcoming and honest with me about my car. 10/10 Service. Also the prices were outstandingly reasonable!!!

I found a screw lodged in my tire as I was getting out of work today. Ive never used Midas before, but they were open another 30 minutes so I drove over and asked if they could help me out. Knowing they were closing soon, I didt expect Gary to say that they could squeeze me in. Great customer service! Honest, hard-working guys. My tire is fixed and it took all of 15 minutes to get it done. You have no idea how much I appreciate your service today! A+!! Definitely going back for future needs!

In 2019, I went to this particular midas to get my gas line changed. Having gone here for over 10 years and being on a first name basis with the owner, it was my go to place. Little did I know that would change once I met the new owner. First, he wanted to run a diagnostic. Which he was going to charge me over 80 dollars to run. Okay, well he if is going charge me 80 plus dollars for a diagnostic. I wondered to myself, how much is he going to charge me for the job. So I ask him. He quoted me at over 800 dollars with a smug voice. He told me he it was a very difficult and delicate task to do. I didnt like his attitude, his arrogance or his inflated price. I told him I didnt want my vehicle work done there and walked out. Then, I made a phone call to another shop. I brought it in and they got it fixed by the next day. Paid 215 dollars. Stay away from this Midas.

I have a company/fleet vehicle that can be a bit of a slow process in terms of getting work approved and completed. Gary, who I believe is the service manager, is wonderful. He is patient, straight forward, and he lets me know the time/process involved in getting work done. He doesnt seem bothered with the extra work he has to put in regarding paperwork and hone calls for my fleet vehicle. 10/10 will continue to take my car there. Great service!

Ran into and issue with a cam sensor on a Saturday afternoon, far from home. This Midas location happened to be the only open mechanic shop near us at that time. We were able to get the car there and both of the mechanics and Gary, behind the counter, were very sympathetic to our troubles and did all they could to help us out. Gary especially was very helpful and personable during our time there. Highly recommend bringing your car to Midas!

I took my car to Midas in Valparaiso. I had brakes done on my car. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Gary explained everything, and his staff was nice too.

We were driving by Indiana with A/C problems and George was extremely helpful. He took care of us without an appointment and was very professional. Would definitely recommend this location.

Had a transmission fluid change. Techs relayed information to manager that my fill tube was broken. Manager said nothing to me and the car was driven an hour home while spitting out an unknown amount of fluid. Gary, do your job next time and pay attention, if you can afford it. Dont just drive my car up and say your good to go knowing it was unsafe. So much for the midas courtesy check? Worthless.

The managers are very pleasant and informative on what parts I needed and why. They always make sure Im well taken care of while I wait for my car. I highly recommend this place for the work and service.

I dropped my car off at 11 am, and the manager said they would be able to look at it in the early afternoon. I called back at 2 pm to see if it was looked at yet, and he said that he would be able to call me at 3 pm to let me know what they thought needed to be fixed. I called back at 3:15 pm, and he said they would not have time to look at it today since they close at 4 pm. Poor communication- never called when he said he would & wasted a Saturday where I could have gotten it fixed somewhere else. He asked if I was bringing it back on Monday, and I told him most likely not. As others have mentioned, choose somewhere else to take your vehicle in Valpo. I should have read the Google reviews before taking it there.

Took 3 hours to change my front brakes. They took almost an hour waiting once the first tire was off. Another customer came in complaining about a job they did on his car while i was waiting. For the time spent and money spent, definitely not worth it. Find someone else.

Prices to darn high you need a good job

This Midas location provided exceptional service. We were having several issues with our vehicle & were addressing one by one. The technicians at Midas were able to isolate all remaining problems during this visit. This gave us the confidence to feel that were now covered for the winter months ahead. The services provided required several days of work, and having a loaner car available for our use was very much appreciated. I will definitely recommend this team to anyone who needs service or advice.

Driving cross country from Denver to New York, we had to make an unexpected pit stop due to some unusual noises and the brakes going out. We were able to coast our way off the highway and drive slowly to this Midas. They took off the tire and wheel to show us that the parts had disintegrated and the tire was being held on by a pin.. A PIN!!! We were fortunately still alive, but worried about losing a day or two of our travel schedule, they understood our concern and we were in and out in 4 hours. They worked with us on price as well. Definitely expected everything to be double what we paid. The service was excellent all around. They were all so friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this Midas location.

They worked fast and had good customer service. 10/10 would recommend. My car is running so much better! The price was pretty cheap compared to other companies. Im going to come here whenever I need my car worked on. They really did a good job.

Made the appointment for first thing Saturday morning was told that there was nothing else scheduled for the day so they would have it back to me that day. hadnt heard anything by noon after dropping it off at 9:00 a.m. called the shop was told that there was a part that they didnt have that wouldnt come in till Monday.I can understand that sometimes Parts run out you cant get them right away ask them to take a look at my blower in the car as its obviously got something stuck in the fan they said they would take care of it. tells me everything will be done by 9:00 or 10:00 on Monday morning. Monday morning rolls around 9 past 10 goes past, numerals round I get a phone call saying that the part is expected at 1:30 they will get to it is soon as the part arrives and Ill be able to pick it up by 3:00.3:00 rolls around no word I call it 4:30 Im told itll be done in a half an hour. 5:00 rolls around now Im being told it wont be done until 6:00 which is when they close. 15 minutes later I get a call stating that its done. I get to the shop in 5 minutes only to find out its not done they still have work to do on it. they bleed the brakes they put the wheels back on they take it for a test drive and theyre still something wrong so they bring it right back into the shop. Im never told what else was wrong that they had to bring it back in, and Im told that they cant get to the blower claiming it takes about an hour to do it so they offer me half off labor if I come back to have them do it.very unlikely that Im coming back to have them do it even at half the labor cost when this was asked to be done Saturday theyve had the car for 48 hours didnt do anything while they were waiting on the part except wait on the part. this was probably one of the worst experiences Ive ever had at this shop it usually is pretty good apparently not anymore Im very unhappy with this.Addendum: the tires they put on they did not have fixed the TPMS stems correctly...had one fix at a different shop because I was told that we couldnt add air to the low tire because of it immediately took it to the same Valpo location the following day because another tire had leaked, they supposedly fix that saying that for some reason it was leaking out of the stem took their word on it drove to Lafayette found out as we were turning around to return home that the tire was flat and leaking from the stem again same tire.I do not recommend this location any longer as a fairly apparent that theres no one that seems to really know what the hell theyre doing, and the two managers have spoken to thus far have promised me things that werent delivered.

Great customer service! I cant say enough nice things about Midas Valparaiso. I spoke with Chris and I must say I was extremely happy with their service. At no cost to me they patched the small hole in my Oil Pan Gasket which was causing a strong odor to come thru my vents. Also, my last experience with them was top notch. Thanks again!

Decent mechanics there know their stuff, but some jobs are overpriced for what they offer to other shops.

Did my brake inspection. Taking tires off, they stripped two luge nuts and blamed Toyota put them on too tight. He stated, Toyota is responsible and they will replace it for free. Toyota charged me $100 for replacement. If, I cant be there, to see them working on my car. I will not patronage them.

It was my first time going into this business yesterday and I’m NEVER stepping foot back in there. I have primarily came in because my heat shield was creating a scraping noise and my passenger brake pad was going bad. That is ALL I needed to be done. I was told I needed WAY more things fixed than expected, which almost ran me a $1,900 bill. I explained to Paul, the manager, that I’ll have whatever needs to be fixed at the maximum cost of $1,300. All of my brake pads and rotors were fixed, as well as my front calipers. I have a crack on my DRIVER’S side of the tire rim and I explained I have another mechanic fixing it for me this week.. but I left with a spare tire on the LEFT REAR instead. Moreover, I came in at 9:45 am and was told my car would be finished by 12. 12 pm came around and I had to ASK for an ETA on my vehicle being finished and then he said now it won’t be til 1. One of the workers drove me home down the street til my vehicle was actually finished. 1 pm came by so I contacted Paul back to get an update. He said it was just about done and I was going to be picked up in my vehicle in a “few minutes.” I ended up waiting for another hour. Overall, they definitely overcharged me for things that ENTIRELY didn’t need to be fixed immediately. All they care about is upping their sales rather than fixing customers’ main car issues and I felt scammed. Save your money and time for a smaller business who’ll be more honest with you and not overcharge you. This situation has unfortunately led me to contact the Better Business Bureau.

What a rip off. My husband went in for what should’ve been a (approximately) $30 oil change. They asked if he wanted a new engine air filter and he asked how much it would be. They said $39 with parts and labor. He assumed that they meant $39 total for the oil change and an engine air filter. Nope, it was $68 total for an oil change and the air filter. He’s not one to complain, so he didn’t say anything. So we paid $39 for a part you can get on amazon for $10 or for $15 at Auto Zone and install yourself in 5 minutes. Do not agree to anything extra from this company. It’s a scam!

Very very pleased with my experience with the gentleman here at Midas Valparaiso. Had an emergency and called em up and Deano squeezed me in a little before they closed. He was professional and very easy to talk to. Josh did the work for me and he was very nice and did a great job. Glad to have found a good local shop. Thank you very much fellas.

Too expensive for basic services.

My husband came here for oil change. He was informed that both brakes and his front calibers were destroyed. My husband informed them that his back brakes were just replaced a few months prior and then they went back and said that was an error. They then informed my husband that it would cost 850 for front brakes and calibers. When we declined, the employee yelled out the window at my husband that he would regret his choice. When he went to another store, we were notified that the calibers were not in fact destroyed. So they attempted to falsely take advantage of us. Will be reporting to the better business bureau.

I recently went to Midas after bad experiences with other car care providers. I dealt with Deano and he was great. He was no nonsense straight to the point and let me know what I needed and didnt need. He accommodated to my work schedule and was true to his word. I was promised a set price and everything to be done on the same day. Even though they close at 6 p.m. knowing I needed my car back that day they stayed till after 7p.m. to complete the job. Never once was I feeling pressured into getting stuff I didnt need. I cant say enough about how great these guys were and how hard they worked to satisfy a customer. So I would like to say thank you to Deano and his team and you have gained a loyal customer thanks to the way you treated me and the service that was promised and delivered upon.

Best experience I have had with a local shop. Luis the service manager was great and welcomed me warmly while multitasking with phones ringing and other customers coming in. The technicians working on my car were very polite and seemed to know what they were doing. They kept me informed on what exactly they thought was wrong with my vehicle and got me in and out promptly. I always went to Jiffy Lube but I think Ive found my new favorite shop in town! Blew a tire on my mustang on my way to Valpo to do some shopping. I was able to quickly get a hold of Deano there. They didnt have any of my tires in stock so they gave me a loaner car for the evening and had my tire in building the next day. Mounted balanced and aligned and I was back on the road. Deano gave me great customer service and I will be going back again.

Used to be a great place to go since Oil N Go became to expensive. My mom is elderly and knows nothing about cars but has been going here for 2 years now and using a $19.99 coupon for an oil change.She informed me today they told her they have new ownership and this is the last time they can accept that coupon....even though they have coupons right on Midas website.Not sure if this new girl working was trying to take her extra money or if they really have new ownership. Very gruff and rude. Wont be back.

Husband went in for a small fix to the muffler and the guy cut off his converter telling him it was bad . Upon further investigation and seeing the converter it was perfectly good . Watch out for these people, tried to pull a quick one ! Never will go there again !! Beware!

I have taken my cars to John for years now and have always been very pleased with the work performed. I think what I like most about this shop is that John clearly takes pride in his business and it shows in the cleanliness of the facility, transactions and work ethic. Its difficult to find a quality auto repair place that you dont feel taken advantage of...and from my experience you will not have such feelings at this Midas.

Great service. I took my car in a few months ago after a local tire company installed a tire but didnt balance it. I suspected issues with the brakes but turned out a tierod and a couple of engine mounts needed replacement. Wow....just wow...BEST SERVICE Ive had in YEARS! went for an oil change with my family and when I say the way they interacted with not just myself but even my 7 month old daughter with me...the service desk rep Rachel was phenomenal even going as far as sanitizing her toy she dropped. Free coffee hot chocolate and water while waiting and a tv to watch. Fast service was in and out in less than an HR without an appointment I called while at Walmart 5 min away because Walmart had an almost 2 hr wait...and they got us in right away plus this location seems to be VERY family oriented. Hands down will be back for plenty of more work! 💯

They stripped the bolt on my oil tank and didnt tell me. Charged labor to change the air filter .after I was paying for an oil change.I wont go back there

This is the second time that Ive had this problem with this place. The first time I was assured that this would never happen again, but it happened again. Both times I was simply told to take the car to the dealer, and as stated by the manager previously we are a full service auto repair center, you should never have been told to take your car to the dealer. Not only did I initially sign a paper saying I would be charged $0.00, and he told me I wouldnt be charged, he told me that he had to charge me the diagnostic fee. Although they DID NOT diagnose anything. They simply handed me a service newsletter that talked about the drivers side power window when I was concerned about a passenger side power lock not working. I asked about the discrepancy and they said its all related. The only way its related is those two things are part of a car. Anyway they didnt diagnose anything and they didnt even let me repair it with them. Had it been a diagnosis I would know whats wrong with it. ANYWAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. Im tired of paying diagnostic fees for people who dont even care. Also, they told me it could be a power window on the other side of the car. Which has nothing to do with the passenger side door lock (lol confirmed with the dealership). Point of the matter, if they wouldve known what was wrong with the car, they wouldve fixed it or told me what the heck it was rather then handing me some bs and hope that I wont read it. Im really sick of the dishonesty here.

Great place. Repeat Customer. John was friendly and prompt. He had me inspected, diagnosed, repaired, and on my way in no time. Had hub assembly and exhaust gasket replaced and an oil change.

John the owner was very friendly and imformative. I was given a free estimate and then was able to make an informed decision about the necessary repairs. Prices were dair and the work impeccable.

Front desk guy is awesome!

I have spent several dollars that is close to 1500.00 or more in repairs supposedly made. Service engine is still on even a day after I brought it home and work on my car was horrible that the tires I keep replacing are still wearing only on the inside of my tires causing me problems and more money. To John that was thought to be a nice person just shrugged his shoulders with no care. Added the radiator fan needed to be replaced. it seems that a simple oil change to be my first visit turned out to be a single mom with little income a nightmare and in short no car.

I just came back from Midas, he gave me a quote for the parts that was actually $120 over the actually price of the parts. I call the local auto parts and they gave me a much lower quote on parts (thats when I figure out that he was charging me $120 more) When I confronted him he told me I am running a business here, so he offer a discount of $50 and I said $60. In the beginning he was really nice and after I confronted him he has really rude. He finish the job and I ask him to test drive the car before paying and he said what you want me to do, just leave me your credit card. If you go to him, make sure you check the prices in the local auto parts before you pay him anything or say yes to the service. That was my mistake!!!!

Thought I needed at a minimum a new muffler and maybe more. Ended up just a small repair for a lot less than expected. Didnt try to sell me more than I needed.

Do not go here if you’re a woman. They will try and take advantage of your little knowledge about cars and upsell you. I took my car here because I had a nail in my tire hoping to get it removed and patched. The nail was right in the middle of the tread. They tried telling me that they couldn’t repair it, and that I would need to buy a whole new tire. The whole thing was staged. The guy looked at my car for about 3 minutes, came in to the office and told the man at the desk, “come look at this”. Not even a minute later, he comes back in and says, “I hate to say this but it’s in a spot that we can’t fix, you’ll need a new tire.” I left, took my car to Levin across town, they fixed it in 20 minutes. I told them what happened here and they laughed and said it was the easiest fix.Long story short, they’re scammers.

Jon does an excellent job managing and overseeing the work at Midas. I took my car in after having recent brake trouble to find out that all four brakes, and rear drums, needed replacing. Jon took me through the car and showed me exactly what was wrong and explained the issues to me. He did not oversell or pursue alternatives to create more profit. In fact, if I stated that I did not want something or declined any recommendation he dropped that subject and we moved on. I never felt pressured or that I was being swindled as I have at other shops before. Very personable and highly recommend the service. Not many people left who exhibit the decorum exhibited by Jon and Valparaiso Midas.
