My 9 month old husky had diarrhea and vomiting every hour. I called them at 1:00am and took her to the clinic. The staff and vet were very helpful, they checked for everything and did the diagnostic. After confirming nothing major, they gave her fluid for rehydration and medication. She was back home at 6:00am and then recovered back in couple days. I am very thankful for the staff here for there quick response and taking care of pup.
Our 4 year old German Shepherd got bloat so we called VCA at 9pm and they said to bring her in immediately. The surgeon was there, they stabilized her and took her into surgery right away. They successfully saved her life without damage to the stomach. They were excellent with follow up right after and the surgeon called us early the next morning. The staff all seem to be very caring and give good quality care.
I took my 3-month-old puppy because some insect bit her, she was very swollen in her face and I got to the hospital I told her I have an emergency with my dog they passed her quickly and they gave her medicine they helped me after 2 hours they gave her much better Thanks
I can’t even tell you if this place is good or not because I couldn’t even get in the door. After a lengthy wait on the phone I finally spoke to a technician and he suggested I bring my dog in so I head over and was placed on a 45 min hold just waiting to check him in. So after the 45 minute wait with no answer I went home. Maybe it was a bad day but it was a horrible experience
VCA Tustin saved my dog’s life! Took him in to the hospital the end of December as he ate the stuffing inside a new toy. (PSA-DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG UNSUPERVISED WITH A STUFFED TOY!) Anyways he had to have stomach surgery to remove the stuffing. Bronson stayed at the VCA for 3 weeks as he had several complications after his surgery because of his age (12) and previous medical conditions. VCA Tustin staff was so amazing, they not only gave my dog world class treatment and care, but they were also very sweet to me. I called everyday multiple times throughout the day and night and everyone from the phone staff to the vet techs to the doctors were amazing. They never made me feel like I was bugging them and always answered all my questions. The techs even orchestrated several facetime calls with my dog. I could truly tell when I spoke to everyone on the phone that they all really cared about my Bronson. Honesty, my dog wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for this great group at VCA Tustin. I am truly indebted to this team and am in complete amazement of their skill and compassion. Dr. McDooling was brilliant with Bronson. She is his Internist and was his primary doctor while he was there. All the doctors are amazing as well…Drs. Supance, Collins, Munchel, Fatourechi, Durtschi, Shepherd and Uyeno. You really cannot go wrong with any of them. I highly recommend! The Vet Techs were phenomenal as well. I spoke mostly with…Jenny, Amber, Lisa, Gabby, Kamie, Janelle, Emma and Karen. They were all so caring and sweet. Even the phone staff, Daniella and Ellie were so thoughtful and compassionate. I cannot rave enough about this group! Thank you THANK YOU again everyone at VCA Tustin, without you I wouldn’t have my Bronson back home with me.
I could give you a list of reasons not to go here but Ill just give you one. I understand that times are different during Covid but grocery store clerks are on the front line and are more friendly, compassionate, and human than this place. I went in with my very sick cat. I knew he was going to need to be euthanized. I told them I really needed to use the restroom so I could focus on my last minutes with my cat. The restroom is not open to the public. We can wait while you go down to stater brothers to use theres.. This was said to me while Im on the phone arranging to go in and euthanize my cat. I dont think I need to say how heartless and disgusting that statement was to someone who is about to lose part of their family.
Most useless animal hospital ever, if your pet is indire need of medical attention, youre better off learning what to do from Google then visiting this god awful place. Waited over 4 hours and my dog received no medical attention or treatment the worst pet care hospital Ive ever been to In the last 25 years.
Where should I start at. My 15 year old pitbull Zeus out of no where collapsed on me and began heavy panting and gasping for air. I had to give my dog mouth to mouth and rushed him to his regular vet office which is a hospital also. He was foaming out the mouth with his tongue out and to me I thought he was having a stroke or a heart attack and with my EMS training I gave him mouth to mouth. We arrived to his vet/hospital and they took him to the back and did what they could do. About 3hrs later the Dr comes out to talk to us and told us that Zeus was stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction. I was with my family and told them that I didnt see any bees and that dont make any sense. But the Dr was firm and said he sees this all the time on dogs. So then we took him home. About a week later goes by this happened again where he was gasping for air as if he was choking and was displaying signs again as if he was about to die. This happened inside the house so I knew there was no way a bee came inside the house but I still took my dog back to the same vet/ hospital because they were atleast able to get him stable by giving him oxygen and relaxing him. After this happened the Dr had no answers. I turned to Facebook and joined dog illness groups, medical advice groups for dogs and had to do my own research. After talking to so many people on Facebook I diagnosed my own dog. He had laryngeal paralysis. Basically his airway collapses and hes struggling to breath. Some dogs die from this. So for about 2 months I tried home remedies trying to keep him cool. Trying to keep him relaxed but he kept on having episodes. So the next step was surgery which is called a tie back surgery to the airway. I live in San Diego and every vet location was around $5000-6200. I was referred by someone on Facebook to contact this location in tustin which is about 45mins-1hr from San Diego. They charged me way less. I think I paid maybe 3500-4000. I mean yes its expensive but nothing compared to the quotes I was getting. So when I called to get my dog in my regular vet was saying the dog is too old for the surgery and that this surgery would put him into shock and we could die and he was telling us to maybe consider putting him down. When we took him in for the consultation the Dr assured us that he was pretty healthy for the most part and that he will do fine. Within 2 days we brought him back and they did the surgery. The nurses contacted us every step of the way and actually sent us pictures and video chat of us and our dog. We were so nervous to drive home without our dog but the staff made us confident enough that he was in good hands. With this major surgery he had to stay the night in ICU and the next day we picked him up. Fast forward 1 year and 6 months later he is breathing fine and doing well besides being a old dog he is getting weak but we saved him some time to spare with us. And this wouldnt of been possible without the vet surgeon Diane craig. The scar is not visible anymore and his fur grew back and all. The only negative thing I have to say is when we were done and calling for meds after or questions it was hard to get a Dr to respond back to you. If there was 1 thing I would say is for a little bit more after care information. But other then that if you need a surgery for your pet this is a good place. I know I had a great experience that dont mean others couldnt of had a bad experience. But my dog is still here with me next to my side. I believe they have payment options like financing and etc. If you have a Facebook i would highly suggest to join DOG HEALTH ISSUES on Facebook. Sometimes talking to others you may be able to find cures or medication to get without breaking the bank and joining the group is just for advice doesnt mean someone may be wrong or right. Hope this post helps anyone debating on going here or not.
If you love your furry kid(s) never ever go there I had a horrific experience. I only got a heartache, headache tons of stress and I am only left with a very high bills. Yes I also think one star is too much.
3-4 weeks ago we brought our sick cat in, after much deliberation we had decided to euthanize the cat. We paid for the procedure, the cremation and then paid 62 dollars for us to get a paw print memento so our family would have something to remember him by. We were told to expect the print in 2-3 weeks. After 3 weeks we had not received word or the paw print, so we called VCA. It took 4 days and multiple calls to find out that they screwed up on the paper work and we would not be receiving the paw print. My family is devastated and, honestly, this review is the only way I feel like I can do any good for them which is just so hard for me to accept. The facility is trying to make amends by returning the cost of the cremation and paw print, but that wont stop the pain that my family and I are going through. If you need to euthanize a loved pet, I cannot suggest you go elsewhere strongly enough. At least we have pictures of our cat to remember him by...
Joke place! No emergency dr I can’t believe they call them self an emergency vet!
Waited more than 7 hours for a response. We understand that more critical cases come in but the lack of communication is horrible and stressful to bothe the animal and the owners. Find another hospital.
I would never take my dog back to this place very rude and all they wanted was my money don’t take your animals to this place
We took our dog here yesterday night. The staff were all empathetic, professional, and responsive. They allowed us to spend our last moments with him outside while they waited for a room to open up for his euthanization. Everyone (the receptionist, technicians, and doctor) helped us with the decision. He was in good hands at the end and for that my mom and I are very grateful.
They helped my cat she had lymphoma of the stomach. All thru her care they were compassionate and kind from the Drs to the staff. I am thankful for the work they did at the Tustin VCA.
I had an awful experience with the internal medicine vet at VCA in Tustin. When I spoke to her on the phone after she spent a whopping 2minutes examining my dog, she was dismissive, rude and nasty to me. They quoted me a price for an endoscopy that was $1700 more than at a place across the street. When I asked if she could match that price or give me some sort of price break considering I had lost my job (I said I could pay up to $3,400 upfront) she made several rude comments to me. First she said you know you need to get this done. Youre just upset you cant afford it. VERBATIM!!!! What kind of unprofessional demeanor is that?! I kept trying to ask questions and she would over talk me and not allow me to finish asking about alternatives (since I could not afford their $4800 endoscopy). She point blank LAUGHED and said You wouldnt walk into any other establishment and ask for a discount would you? I explained I accept she wont give any sort of payment plan or price break but wanted information on what I should do seeing as $4800 is outrageous price for an endoscopy. I said youre being rude and nasty how could you laugh when someone is clearly crying asking for an alternative to your overpriced endoscopy. She got very angry when I called her out and said I wont continue to speak to you if youre calling me rude and tried to pass me off on a manager when ALL I wanted was a recommendation/alternative since their endoscopy price was WAY TOO HIGH. She lacked professionalism, and more importantly compassion. As soon as she realized I wasnt shelling out $4800 for an endoscopy she could not care less about me or my dog. I urge you: PLEASE Go to a difference specialist who will actually care about your pets NOT ONLY their bottom line. Theres a specialist across the street AVIN where they will be getting the endoscopy for $3100. I already scheduled the appointment. Please do NOT support this VCA!!!
Dr. Mcdooling will never return your calls. They did a procedure on my dog she got extremely sick throwing up diarrhea in her poop and thank god my normal vet helped her heal. She never explained side affects of the procedure also took 3 and a half weeks for results and 3 phone calls.
I truly cannot say enough about the care that my “baby” received at OC Veterinary Specialists! My 11 yo mini dachshund was attacked by a coyote and spent 6 nights in ICU. The doctors and technicians who took care of him were so patient with all of my phone calls. They never made me feel like my calls were bothering them, and I called many times a day to see how he was doing. They were empathetic and kind each time I talked to them. They made me feel like they truly cared about my puppy. They took pictures and sent them to me since I could not go see him due to Covid-19. Without a doubt they saved his life! His stay there was very expensive as he had major injuries, 2 surgeries and was there for 6 nights. I do not know how their prices compare to those of other hospitals, but I do know that their attentiveness and care toward my “baby” made the cost at least a little easier to take. Thank you to everyone that helped care for my boy and for you patience with me!
They provided me with good plans for how to address my pet’s emergency. However, it didn’t feel like they truly cared for my pet. I am aware that at the end of the day it is a business, but it did not feel like a place that knows it’s handling lives. At least, that’s how I felt. I felt very unsettled when I left my pet overnight, I just felt like I was not satisfied with the service for the amount of money that was payed. Nothing really stood out, and it didn’t really feel like they were trying to go above and beyond.
Tyler the vet tech is awesome!
I gave them 3 stars because up to a couple weeks ago I was very pleased with Dr. Ponteras and the staff. However I had a bad experience on Monday 9/28. Due to a late delivery, I found I was completely out of prescription dog food the night before. My dog gets diarrhea when he eats regular food, so I couldnt use anything else. I didnt know when my shipment would come in, so Monday morning I called to see if they would email a prescription so I could run to PetSmart to get a couple cans. I was met with indifference. I made sure the receptionist knew I had NO food for my dog, but no one ever called - not even to say they couldnt take care of that for me. He gets his meds with his food, so I couldnt feed him or give him his meds until the shipment arrived, thankfully that afternoon. It would be nice to have the prescription on hand just in case this happens again, but they have yet to contact me. I sent an email a week later and still nothing. The doctor is caring, the staff showed no interest. I cant believe they wont contact me. Obviously Im still upset.
The doctors and staff are amazing! They treat all of their patients with the highest respect, compassion, and kindness. My 14 1/2 yr old German Shepherd had chronic belly issues. Dr. McDooling quickly diagnosed him with IBS and got him on a treatment plan that had him feeling better and back to his active life. When he was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disease, we began acupuncture treatments with Dr. Aldridge. Because of her care, compassion and dedication, he had an extra year of good quality life. He was in their care for many years. The vet techs are fabulous. My dog had some aggression issues, but they knew how to handle him and were so wonderful with him. The front office staff is amazing, and so kind. I can not say enough good things about the quality of care pets receive at VCA! If I could give 100 starts, I would!
Do not take your pets here. They do not care about your pets and just want your monies I understand that it is a business, but they have zero compassion for your animal. We took our dog in a few days ago because he was hit by a car, the vet literally played on our emotions; he stated that it would be $3,000 without even examining the dog and charged us $113 just for speaking to us he did not even examine the dog. In the notes he wrote that the dog had a high heart rate and pale mucous membranes concerning for shock and verbally stated that he would have to stay overnight with a catheter attached. We thought that was a bit much and didnt think our dog looked too bad so we decided to take him elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. The 2nd vet office we took him to stated that everything the first vet stated was NOT TRUE AT ALL!! The 2nd vet we saw ended up examining/diagnosing and xraying my dog for $500!!! Do not trust these so called vets they are horrible..
I adopted two rescue puppies at 8 weeks old, and got them set up on the Banfield puppy plan (big mistake - doesn’t cover any emergencies). I’ve wound up at the Tustin VCA several times for both my dogs. It’s fine if you’re the only one there, but if multiple animals are receiving care, get ready to wait a while. I have had to wait up to 2 hours for my dog to be discharged after they had finished caring for her because they were too busy with other pets. Their prices are also out of this work. $282 to induce vomiting and administer anti-nausea meds when my dog swallowed a chunk of his toy. Again, if your pet is having a medical emergency at 3am, it’s probably fine to come here, but otherwise I’d try to find somewhere else.
My super-skiddish dog did well with their staff, telling me they are true professionals. Very fair pricing, they didnt seem like they were trying to gouge me for diagnostics my dog didnt really need. Very easy to use them despite the covid-related precautions.
Excellent staff and care for my asthmatic cat. My 9 -month old rescue cat, Leo, was having a hard time breathing. I had already taken him to Dr. Ota, nine hours earlier at 3 pm at a cost of $351. Dr. Ota believed Leo had asthma but didnt give him any medications as she wanted confirmation from a radiologist first and it being late in the day, we had to wait. At 11:30 pm I became worried because Leos breathing was labored and he was lethargic. After having a horrible Emergency Vet experience in Mission Viejo many years ago, I was leary about going to one again. This place in Tustin could not have been any better. The receptionist was kind on the phone and also in person. The vet techs were caring, and the vet, Dr.Kelly Schmitz, was informative and understood that I had already taken Leo to a vet hours earlier and didnt want to start all over. She also wanted to be sure Leo had asthma before giving him medication. She also had x-rays done but did not charge me for them! Dr. Kelly Schmitz believed her x-rays confirmed asthma so she decided he needed two shots and then let me watch him afterwards at the clinic, instead of insisting that I leave him there overnight for $1,000 more, give or take. He did seem to be breathing easier so I took him home. Total cost for the emergency vet was $213. It is now 7:32 am, six hours after I checked out of VCA OC Veterinary Specialists on Edinger Ave in Tustin. Leo woke me up by jumping on me this morning. Hes not 100% yet but hes doing great. Im extremely happy with Dr. Kelly Schmitz and this 24 hour vet! The photo is of Leo after his shots when I was watching him to see how his breathing was.
My 7 year old cat developed idiopathic epilepsy in Dec 2019. She saw two different doctors here. The first Dr saw her while she was having focal seizures repeatedly and told me her Neuro exam was normal and sent us home. The seizures continued to escalate. Within 36 hours she had a grand mal seizure. I rushed her back here (big mistake) and a different ER doc said that she was aggressive and rabid. She is an indoor cat and was vaccinated for rabies. The Dr told me my cats quality of life would be so poor that I should euthanize her. Two days and 4k later, I ended up taking her to Blue Pearl in Irvine where she was properly diagnosed and treated. She is now doing great and the epilepsy is completely under control - no thanks to VCA. I would not recommend this place to any animal owner looking for trustworthy veterinary care.
Great staff. Took our pup in extremely quick, within minutes, especially being in a 24 hour clinic. Thank you.
This was one of our best visits to a vet. Weve been to a bunch of them throughout the years. The staff here is amazing and very friendly. Everyone was so nice to my golden. We had a appointment with the cardiologist and she is great as well. Ill definitely work with them in the future.
Summer is very unhelpful over the phone.
I went to this location because my cats regular vet was closed on Sunday and dr. Lauren Shepard was so loving and caring to my elderly cat who was very ill. The whole procedure was so peaceful and loving. I am so very grateful I was able to have Dr. Shephard help my baby pass on. They sent me a beautiful card as well. Thank you for all your help.
Simply the best! FAR better than any other emergency vet I have been to in Orange County. Unlike some other emergency vets, where you can spend hours in an exam room waiting for an unfriendly vet to eventually grace you with their presence and then have concerns if they are recommending what is best for your pet or just looking to pad their wallets, Orange County Veterinary Specialists is staffed with extremely professional, prompt and caring vets and technicians. While all of the vets and staff we have interacted with have been great, we have been very impressed with Dr. Ashley Cruse, who has been nothing short of exceptional every step of the way. Dr. Cruse has provided timely and well-explained updates and recommendations, which have helped our pet get back on the path to recovery. Additionally, it is clear that Dr. Cruse truly cares about the pets she sees, making it clear that your pet isnt just a number to her and that she will do whatever she can to help your pet get back on their feet.
OC VCA is an outstanding practice with the most knowledgeable staff and doctors around. You cannot beat the quality of care that you will find at this location.
I couldnt speak more highly of Dr. McDooling and the staff at VCA Orange County. We first came in for an emergency endoscopy for my dog, and everyone was so helpful and comforting. We continue to return for follow-ups and every interaction I have with the nurses and Dr. McDooling is always so warm and reassuring. You can tell everyone there cares so much about all creatures. Ive been in the waiting room a few times when some other emergencies have come rushing through the door and I was always so impressed with how calm and swift the team was in responding.
Brought my dog here over the weekend not only was the ladies in the front desk to busy on there phones the place was a total mass the restrooms were so disgusting the room that they had me waiting in look like it hadn’t been swept or mopped only reason why I came here was because Two weeks ago my girlfriend brought her dog in during the week and I saw how good they treated her dog and the place looked so clean but I guess that was just a good day because this past weekend I guess it was being on your phone weekend and having everything a total mess Not only that some creep with the broom was just watching me the whole time
Very helpful and has state of the art testing and equipment for more complicated patient needs. We were also here when our other kitty had an emergency and didnt survive. They were very nice and tried their best.
The best care by the best people! Services arent free anywhere. They are great and worth every penny. Thank you for saving my baby!!
Honestly wish I could give Zero stars! They dont care about our fur babies. its all about the money! dont bring your baby here they wont help him or her unless you pay a fortune. they told me my baby had nothing serious and he would be better after that visit. he only got worse and he is now in Mexico fighting for his life!!!
VCA ORANGE COUNTY VETERINARY SPECIALISTS ARE RESPONCIBLE FOR MY CATS DEATH.I took my cat to see the Cardiologist Dr. Durtschi who prescribed medication/doses that caused my cat to go into kidney failure. I was told it was safe to give the medication and never warned as to what the potential danger or consequences could be. In fact when I reported side effects to her I was still told to continue with the medication. In less than 2 weeks my cats health started to decline so I brought him back to VCA and he was seen by the internist Dr. Hoffman. She did a blood test that showed my cats kidney values had more than doubled in the two weeks since he was on the medication/doses Dr. Durtschi had prescribed. This apparently meant nothing to Dr. Hoffman since she told me to keep giving the medication that was damaging my cats kidneys. And then misdiagnosed and discharged my cat as having stomach acid. NEVER ONCE DID SHE SUGGEST HE COULD BE IN KIDNEY FAILURE.The next day my cats condition continued to decline I called VCA Three time that morning, each time I was told the doctor said its only stomach acid and give my cat pepcid AC.By the afternoon my cat collapsed on the floor, so I rushed him back to VCA. When I got there they told me he was in critical condition. I was required to leave a credit card deposit of $3200.00. When I was in the critical care section seeing my cat I was told by the staff that my cat was in kidney failure and it was the medication/doses he was on that caused it. In the early AM hours the next day my cat died. HAD I NEVER TAKEN MY CAT TO VCA ORANGE COUNTY VETERINARY SPECIALISTS HE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE TODAY. And in two weeks they charged me over $4000.00 for this..
I was referred to VCA by my regular vet for diagnostics on my 15 year old Chihuahuas liver. I saw Dr. Hoffman and she was wonderful. She was so patient in answering the million questions I had and took her time with me. My dog underwent a laparoscopic biopsy performed by Dr. Nucci. Everything went smoothly and I was informed (both of costs and progress) every step of the way. It was very expensive, as its a pretty serious procedure. But I couldnt be happier with the way they treated me and my elderly dog. I will absolutely be back for anything beyond what my regular vet can handle and recommend them highly.
Worst place to take your dog! Had our 10 year old English Bulldog there from a Sunday to Wednesday due to vomiting. Did every test imaginable and all they wanted to do was perform a $10,000 exploratory surgery and to do a biopsy of liver and kidney. Had blood work done several times and she just was not responding to the treatment. Took her home basically to say goodbye and put her down in a familiar environment. That was three months ago and she is doing great. We moved to Ohio and our vet here reviewed all the notes/test/paper work. Said she had Leptospirosis and they luckily gave here medicine that helped her but most everything else was a waste of time and money. The surgery would have been a complete waste of money. This is how all VCA affiliated places operate. They will take every penny from you if you let them. Stay away!
Stay away from them if you care about your pet or your wallet. After bringing our dog in yesterday for lethargy (at the behest of Banfield) they tried to convince us that she was in a critical state and absolutely needed to stay the night. We were then presented with a bill for $3000 with the hospital stay and various extraneous tests on there. Been wise to their scam, we requested that we see our dog at which point they told us they would normally do that after all the treatment and paperwork has been signed. my wife and I sensed a scam and after calling a third party veterinarian from the waiting room and filling them in we decided to take our dog and go home, which is the point that we ceased to exist in the eyes of the VCA staff. A spectacle of annoyance from the staff ensued as they checked us out (payment for the examination) and practically threw our dog at us without saying another word. When our dog was brought to us she looks perfectly fine, half an hour later she was at home proving tough to wrangle while playing around with her sister. Go figure, I know it’s Orange County and so there are plenty of airhead pet owners ripe for being taken advantage of about but christ alive what a skeevy practice.
Dr. Ettinger has no concern for a canine patients well being and is extremely rude and inconsiderate. They refused to see a dog with a heart problem in a timely manner scheduling an appointment three weeks out. A total and complete moronic idiot.
Totally misdiagnosed our dog. And many $’s later We easily diagnosed our dog and went to another Neurologist as their Neurologist said the dog was without neurological symptoms. We wasted lots of time and money. I would definitely not recommend this Hospital or any of their Dr.s. Feel our dog would have passed away if we kept going there and they were treating him for the wrong condition. We even brought in a note with what we felt was the diagnosis since he had all the symptoms and they continued to treat him for another condition.
Provided great care to our pet during her last days. We would recommend this place for your pet.
Our doggo had to come here because of what we thought was a severe case of pancreatitis. From the moment we walked in the staff was very helpful and compassionate about our sick little girl. The ultrasound specialist actually stayed at work and waited for us to come in so she could examine our dog even though her shift was over.Unfortunately the results came back as pancreatic cancer and not pancreatitis. Because of the care that they gave her she was able to come home and go a couple more days and get showered with love and treats until the end.We also really appreciated their honesty and how upfront they were with the prognosis. They delivered the devastating news as compassionately as possible. They were direct with how long our doggo had left and we really appreciated them for it.
Kind, communicative, friendly, easy, and so on. They took excellent care of my kitty and were so understanding with me even though I was overwhelmed. Very highly recommended.
My dog got sick and I rushed to this hospital. When I got there, the nurse takes me to an exam room. The first thing she says is something like were going to do this blah blah blah to your dog is that okay? Now mind you this is the first time I have ever had to take my dog to a vet. Im panicking and worried about my dog. I asked her to repeat and she acted frustrated as if shes going out of her way to do her job. because money is low these days I asked how much that would cost and if it was necessary. SHE SNAPS WELL ITS GOING TO COST AT LEAST $150 AND THATS JUST TO EXAMINE HER, PLUS WHATEVER ELSE SHE WILL NEED SO EXPECT TO PAY AROUND $200! I told her I thought it was an option since youre asking me but okay, please take care of her whatever needs to be done. I fill out the form and Im in the waiting room. Next thing I know the doctor (veterinarian) calls me in to tell me the doctor thats able to help her is not here today and that this is not her specialty and so I HAVE TO TAKE MY DOG TO A DIFFERENT VET!!!!! MY DOG WAS STUNG BY A BEE AND WAS HAVING ALLERGY REACTION! ARE YOU KIDDING ME.Heres what I think actually happened: the rude nurse thought I would not pay (not able to pay or dont want to pay) so she told the doctor her prejudice opinion, so they decided to send me to a different hospital. Now thank God, my dog received awesome care from the closest hospital to this one. I ended up paying $460.What upsets me the most is not them prejudging or rude nurse (if you dont like your job work elsewhere), what really pi5sed me off was that these people do not give a damn about my dog. All theyre interested in was $$$$! I wish I could give this place ZERO STAR.
Weve brought our dog here twice for after hours emergency care. The staff is professional and kind. They took excellent care of our dog and his upset humans. The facility is clean and the treatment rooms are spacious.
Good luck with this clinic even one star is too much for them
Dont bring your dog here they are over priced and have no knowledge on English Bulldogs. Brought my English Bulldog in due to overheating they put her in a oxy mask and gave her a sedative. Vet came in right away and claimed the sedatives had not calmed my bully down but someone would come in to give us a quote for certain treatment that would prevent my bully from dying. They gave us a bill of over 4 grand . We couldnt cover the bill. And they came back and lowered it to 2 grand . We asked to see the dog and they allowed us our bully was passed out in the back with the oxy mask and breathing fine. After this we decided that we could not cover cost. We decided to take her home hoping she would make it through the night. Instead of being understanding the staff was rude and rolled my bully out from back and just said here is your dog the doctor then said he was really surprised my bully oxygen levels had risen by the time they took her off the sedatives. Gave us meds for my bully and sent us off. My bully recovered the next day she was back to her normal self. Do not recommend this place. Too overpriced.
This is where Vets take THEIR precious pets when they have difficult to diagnose cases. We, in OC are very blessed to have this hospital as an option - FEW other parts of the country have this resource. My husband and I are so grateful! Our cat, Cinnamon. has been one of THE most challenging cases, yet, as a 14 yo cat, he is once again acting like a KITTEN and is happier than ever! HUGE KUDOS to his cardiologist, Dr. April and his Internal Med Specialists, Dr. McDooling and Dr. Cruse. While he has to take several meds, as long as HIS quality of life is joyous, we are joyful!P.S. As a business exec, I completely understand that there is a pure business expense to having access to the cutting-edge medical equipment there and that these Vets have gone to school for MANY EXTRA years. While we are very budget conscious seniors, we understand that we took on the responsibility of our pets lives and will protect and cherish them to the best of our ability. This ENTIRE VCA STAFF is VERY wonderful and good at calming frayed pet-parents nerves. (THANK YOU!)If your pet is also dealing with a serious health issue, this is the VERY BEST place to go!
I brought my kitty to this practice for evaluation of a reoccurring symptom of tenderness and pain in her lower back. She was seen by Dr. Sheppse. After a long winded and incomprehensible diatribe, she was taken for labs, X-ray and injection of pain meds and prednisone. Afterwards, she was discharged and prescribed prednisone to be given orally as an outpatient. When she was brought back to me in her carrier, I had no idea that her right rear leg was paralyzed, which became obvious on our return home. This was not the case when I brought her in. She was also unable to urinate in her litter box.I called the practice in the morning to report these findings and was told by Dr. “Guy”, a vet on staff, to bring her in to see their neurologist the following day. There was nothing their practice could do until then.We were in CA, visiting from out-of-state. I called her regular vet and was told she needed immediate attention. I found another practice open on weekends, brought her in, and the vet there told me her prognosis was very poor, given the paralysis and full, hard bladder. My kitty was euthanized shortly thereafter.I am still wondering how my 5 yo kitty became paralyzed. And how this wasn’t reported by the treating vet. It had to have been known.Pet owners, beware. Be skeptical and very cautious when bringing your fur baby to this practice.
We had to take our dog in for an exam. Unfortunately, the prognosis was bad and we had to have her put down. The staff, especially Dr. Cruse, was very kind and patient with us, allowing us all the time we needed to say good bye to our pet. I would not hesitate in the future to bring a pet here for medical care.
Way over priced. Educate yourself before you go. I would not recommend. It all feels like a sales pitch.
Very clean and friendly environment that treated my pet with great care. You can tell they do their absolute best to take carrof the needs of all the pets that come by.
Taking such good care of our chihuhua Jack with his coughing and breathing issues .
I loved this place! I had to take patchouli here after hours....these people were absolutely loving, caring version and assistants...great care.....
Horrible experience. Ive been here for 3 hours just to get my dog some fluids. Paid $210.
Great, professional and compassionate. Pricey though
They killed my dog and could give one reason what happened to the dog
They helped my puppy get better
The doctors were great but ridiculously expensive there.
My dog got sick they charged me 5000 dollars and end no diagnoses and they had to put the dog to sleep.
The nurses are not dog friendly at all.
The doctors need to back to school and ridiculously expensive there
Great service
This hospital has excellent resources for emergency situations. Unfortunately, they are short-staffed and as a result, hold times are excessive when you are trying to learn about an ill pet. The staff seems caring but stretched too thin. Prices are higher than most ER facilities in the OC area.
