I had a great experience with Pitts this week! After a truly horrible day being stranded for hours with a broken down car, I was finally able to have roadside assistance tow my car to Pitts. By my own fault, I hadnt checked on availability and the nice lady on the phone quoted me with an appointment for the following week! I was upset but I had no choice. When I arrived to give them my keys just before closing, a man named Stephen asked me to wait while he took a look at it. He had assessed the battery and alternator and had me out the door with a brand new battery within 10 minutes! I have never been more relieved. Stephen took great care of me and Ill be going back to them for future service!

Great shop! They got to my car right away and helped address several issues. They text updates on progress which is HUGELY appreciated! I will not think twice about taking my vehicles there.FYI: Pitts has an alignment rack! I used to go somewhere else for alignments, but the old shop returned my car with the wheel tilted and things quite off. It seems that Pitts actually cares about their work!

Ive gotten a car serviced at Pitts twice, and both times they consistently overdiagnosed and overcharged compared to other local shops. The last time I attempted to get a car repaired, I dropped it off overnight with the note, Left driver side brake line corroded and needs to be replaced. Please call me with estimate for parts and labor. The next day they called me with an estimate closer to the Moon than Alabama, so I decided to just buy the tools and parts and do it myself. The total cost of a high quality brake flaring kit, socket wrench set, flare nut wrench set, brand new fittings, two 3-ton jack stands, and enough cupronickel (better saltwater resistance than stainless if youre ever going to be near the coast, and it bends and flares easier, too) piping to do the *entire car* -- and then some -- was less than 25% Pitts estimate for what is a very simple job that would take an expert with powered tools, a lift, and pump for bleeding/flushing the lines at most 20 minutes. So I went to pick up my car and carefully limp it home, only to find they were charging me $100 to inspect the brake system, diagnose the problem that I had already diagnosed for them in writing, and flush the entire brake system (which they were never asked to do at any point.)I happened to be in a hurry, so rather than argue with the jackals I just said, Fine, resolved to never give these scam artists any more business, and asked to be on my way as quickly as possible.FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER, Maggie Pitts (receptionist and one of the owners) walks in with one of the mechanics, who tells me hes spent the better part of the last hour attempting to superglue the plastic panels on the dash/console to the left of the steering wheel back together because he somehow shattered them into a million pieces. (He claimed he hit it with his knee. 20 year old car, dozens of drivers, no one has ever smashed my dash into smithereens with their knee before, not sure how this idiot managed it.)Anyway, not only was this guy too incompetent to even glue my (now) jigsaw puzzle of a driver side dash back together, but Maggie just kind of shrugged it off as if it was nothing, and made no attempt whatsoever to suggest that they were ever going to do ANYTHING actually reasonable to correct THEIR monstrous f***up.She didnt offer to replace what they broke, she didnt offer to refund the $100 scam inspection/diagnosis/flushing Id already paid for, and she didnt even so much as apologize. So I drove off $100 poorer, with a shattered driver side dash, and with most of the interior of the car covered in filth and grease because of the idiot mechanic that sat inside the cab for an hour trying and failing to figure out how to use superglue.(The fact that they would even ATTEMPT to just superglue the broken panels back together rather than IMMEDIATELY fessing up, profusely apologizing, rush ordering replacements, and installing the new panels AS WELL AS comping their previous BS scam charges is beyond belief.)By FAR the worst customer service experience Ive ever had in my entire life. Pitts Auto Repair is owned and operated by (and employs) some of the worst specimens of humanity youll ever find this side of a supermax prison. Avoid like the plague.

This is a local family run business. Ive taken my 2002 Avalanche there several times and they have ALWAYS used the best parts and provided the best service. No problems yet. There are few businesses that I trust but this is one of the very few. I like to talk to the mechanics that work on my truck to understand what they did and why. I may be a problem customer but Ive never gotten the impression that they look at me like that. I couldnt give them a higher recommendation. I dont think they would hire an asshat if their lives depended upon it. I recommend them for everything between an oil change and an engine swap. 100% real value. I trust few but theyve earned it. Fantastic people!

Really great place. Friendly staff and honest.Took in the car because the front headlight was out and the maintence alert had come on. Went out to get the oil changed today. Normally I go to Carlock but was not Impressed with my last service visit. So this morning I came down to Pitts Auto Repair. I pass by here all the time and have a friend who works there but have never used their service. So I can say after 3 years, my new service provider will be here. Got my oil changed and much to my surprise, they checked all my lights as well and had 3 out, 2 of which I know has been out forever but never mentioned. The staff is wonderful and friendly and appear to want to be here working! And to me that goes along way. Fast, friendly and affordable! 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 s my friends!

I put my car in the shop for a leak. They found out it was the water pump. So they offer to replace the water pump and thermostat. I refused the replacement of the thermostat because the receptionist maggy? Said it would be an extra 200. I told her I knew someone who could Do that job for me a lot cheaper so don’t worry about it. That put me a 500 and something to fix it. So a whole week and 3 days go by and she calls me back and tell me that the guys actually came in to do some work over the weekend and that my tired rods were so “corroded” that they wouldn’t be able to test drive it and that I had to get it fix for them to test drive, and that it would be 1250 for me to replace the tired rods, water pump, and I think alignment. I refused the extra work of course because all I wanted was for the leak to be fix. So I asked her do they have to test drive it in order for me to get my car? She said no. And then she tells me I can just come pick it up. But what she forgot to mention and this is one of the main reasons why I’m leaving a bad review is that they didn’t do any work to my car after it had been sitting there for a week and 3 days ! She told me that they had came in over the weekend to work but she didn’t mention they they didn’t do any to my car the whole time it was sitting there. So basically my car sat there for over a week and nothing had been done. This was my 3rd time coming to that shop and I never had an issue When I communicated with the receptionist Jason. No one ever offer to replace my tired rods sense she claim they were “so corroded” or offer me a alignment. they refused to put the water pump on because they claim “it was unsafe to drive” now I been driving my car back and forth to work I had really no signs of anything being loose or wobbly. Car drives very good and smooth. I even drove my car to and from the shop with the leak with out it running hot on me because I was able to keep Enough water in the coolant to make it there. So if I’m able to drive all the way to the car shop with out any problems that should let them know a little test drive around the block or like warren tire pros told me up the drive way wouldn’t hurt. But because I refused to spend 1000 or better for them to fix my car they refused to do anything for me. I understand the pandemic is causing people to lose their usual business but I’m not about to spend unnecessary money to get my car fix especially if it has nothing to do with the initial problem. I wouldn’t recommend this shop anymore with maggy being the receptionist because her communication is off and she does not keep you updated about your car. It was like she had forgot all about me.

I can’t say enough about Pitts Automotive. Maggie and the whole staff have been wonderful from the day we discovered them three years ago. We wanted to meet them face to face before we left our daughter here for school. By the time she needed to bring her car in for routine service they remembered us and took great care of her. It’s been three years now and I wouldn’t take her car anywhere else. Maggie even recommended Pate’s Auto Body to us after a tree crushed our carport with my daughter’s car in it. She also recommended the contractor who is currently rebuilding our home after that same tree incident. Every single person I have spoken with about Pitts has had the same response. They are the salt of the earth! I strongly recommend them!

My daughter attends University of AL and we live 13 hours away. So when my daughters car wont start, I had to find a repair shop. I googled auto repair and found Pitts Auto Repair 3 miles from UA. I had her car towed over to Pitts Auto. It needed a battery, and since we just installed a battery in that vehicle, they were able to warranty it through AC Delco. Maggie was very nice and the service was quick. My daughter was very happy to get her car back and I was super happy with the outstanding service. I love this place and would highly recommend them. My 6 yr old car with 60,000 miles needed work. BEFORE I even towed the car there, I inquired about the costs and was very clear that before anything that would cost was done, I needed to give approval. They call the next day and say its a blown head gasket, I can pay $3500 for a motor or I can pay them $45 and give them my car and theyll get rid of it. Next call, I inform them I will be there with the buyer to get the car. AT THIS POINT AND NOT ONCE BEFORE, they tell the buyer I have a $90 balance on the car. To hook up the computer and the pressurized system. This would have been absolutely fine IF I was informed of this AT ANY POINT before the second they found out I wasnt giving them my car and paying $45. Yes, its now a POS car, but I could get $400 for it and I did. AT NO POINT BEFORE THEY WERE INFORMED I WAS SELLING MY CAR (NOT LEAVING IT THERE) WAS ANYTHING SAID ABOUT THIS BS $90 TESTING FEE. Not when I first called, not when I spoke to them when they got the car, not when they called back 2x, AT NO POINT WAS IT MENTIONED UNTIL THEY WERE TOLD I WASNT PAYING THEM $45 AND SIGNING OVER MY TITLE. Yes, I specifically asked about it, and was told We will not do anything that you will be charged for without speaking to you directly first. When I met the buyers tow truck driver at the shop, he informed me that a man came outside and was rude and cussing him before he even asked a question. Its not the $90, its the principle of thats not how you run a business and thats not how you treat clients. The BBB is looking into it, but BUYER BEWARE

I explained to the lady in the office that my daughter and I were in town for a tour of UA that started in an hour and our car was struggling to start. I explained that I thought it was the battery but not certain and asked if someone could just look at it to make sure and help us out so we could be back on the road to Atlanta after the tour. We were obviously very stressed and just needed a little help. She was not in any way willing to try and help us out and was very cold...and two mechanics were just standing in the bay talking from the time we arrived and were still just standing there talking as we were leaving. We went to Henrys Auto that was packed with cars and clearly much busier. The owner was super nice and sympathetic to our situation. He confirmed that it was just the battery. We Ubered to our tour and back to Henrys where our car was fixed and ready to go.

I had an incident very similar to another review listed. I talked to them before having my car towed over. The problem I was mainly concerned about did not even get addressed as I was told it would. I confirmed as their advertisement say that they specialized in the vehicle I have. I was told one day to bring and then they changed their story on that. Should have took that as a sign. Then when I did get it towed there they called and said they could not tell me about the lights not working (diagnostic) until they fixed they replaced the radiator and thermostat which they stated blew/cracked when they put battery in got it cranked and let run outside unattended before they even got it in the shop. This is only the tip of the iceberg. What reputable shop demands payment before any repairs are done. long story short. Everything they told me thru the whole process kept changing. 90.00 diagnostic was paid for in the 1000.00 bill I got for the radiator and It still did not get done. Car is leaking and tried to tell me before they could do the diagnostic they told me thay would be able to do once they replaced radiator I would have to pay more money because he thought replacing the radiator and thermostat and battery and then letting it run would fix the problem with the lights because the car had sat up not driven for a while. He was told several the car had sat up before I had it towed over. I can say they are friendly people but this was unprofessional and shady. I hate doing reviews because I dont like anybody affecting or messing with how I make my income but I also dont like to pay for something and not get what was told would be done.
