Mavis Discount Tire in Troy offers great service. They are clear on pricing. You can also set everything up online, so youll be in and out quickly with no surprises. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful, honest, and they listen. Ray made buying new tires and getting a wheel alignment, easy, quick, painless, and inexpensive. ProTip: It probably helps if you check stuff out on the website first so you have an idea of what you want and what you probably need. Also, really wish Id done this sooner. My 2007 Honda is running so much more smoothly and using less gas! I feel safer, and that kind of peace of mind is priceless.

Quick service, no fuss. Flat tire repair included spare removal and remount of repaired tire. Arrived 90 min before closing on a weekday without an appointment and it wasn’t an issue.

PSA: Do not bring your Tesla here.Came here to ask a couple questions. Asked the person at the front desk if they worked with Teslas before and had the correct tires in stock. They did not know the answers and was unable to assist, was told to ask one of the mechanics outside. The mechanic was pretty rude and did not instill any confidence in me that they have the proper knowledge to service a Tesla.

We were on our way from Michigan to Vermont to visit family when our brakes started squealing and then grinding. Mavis got us a same day appointment and took care of our problem quickly. They were professional, friendly and quick. Thank you Mavis!!!

In my opinion, Mavis tire is the best! I had such an unfortunate experience at the dealer on Tuesday, April 27th. Had an oil change and an inspection. It didnt go as planned. Was told I would pass inspection, then that I would need to replace a tire that was two months old, to pass said inspection. Decided to leave without the inspection. The next morning another tire was flat. Wont bore you with the gory details. Went to the Mavis in Troy. Gavin the manager, was fabulous, and honest. He took care of everything, replaced the tire which had a hole in it. This wasnt the tire that I was told I would need to replace. Finished with the dealer for good! I took my car to the Troy shop...and I had a noise when I turn my wheel....They told me it was something binding up with spring or struts....they told me I had to get the whole assembly in the front...and said it would be 600...I said drop my car down....so I took it to a mechanic and he said it was the front sway bar links ...so total parts and labor was around 135.00..Mavis Manager tried to run that game on me and rob me. Some of these mechanics dont know what talking about....they off the street most of them.

This Mavis Tire has been my go to for years, they do good work and have repaired a few tires for me!

I only gave Mavis four stars because theres always a wait or a comeback for service. I only went in to get my car inspected, and of course that little useless brake light on the license plate was out. Even though there were two little lights there, and brake lights all against the back of my car, state law requires you have two little lights to light up those awful license plates that they gave us, you know the plate set the paint pills off of and you cant really read? Anyway, Mavis is the place to go to get tires and get your car fixed from dipping in all the potholes in Troy.

It took them 2 hours after my scheduled 12pm appointment to get the car in. As of now, the car has been in for about an hour. I just needed two tires changed.

I brought my car in for a simple tire change (snow tires to regular). They told me it would take less than an hour if I arrived at 8am. I did exactly that. Not only did it take them ALMOST 2 HOURS, but the next time I drove the vehicle (mind you I havent drove it since I got the tires changed).. my back tire fell off MID DRIVE. when I called requesting a refund, they told me to take it to another mavis to have the problem fixed for free. Uhm do you honestly think Id bring it back to another mavis company after this experience? I think not. Only reason Im giving them 1 star is because they agreed to give me a refund. Buyer beware. A tire falling off mid drive is DANGEROUS.

Bob(Robert) was the best for helping my son with his tire. Went out of his way to make sure we didn’t leave disappointed! Reasonable prices and great staff. I’m a repeat customer and have nothing but good things to say.

Price was good communication was not then I get in to leave and the tire pressure light was on. I ordered the tires on Tuesday called on Friday morning everything was all set drive down 30 mins from my house drop it off called at 3pm to be told they got the wrong size and the tire I wanted could not be there till Tuesday so we went threw all the other options but not the cooper tires I specifically wanted but get got me something that would work for Saturday called at 4pm Saturday and was told oh he is just pulling it in now? Smh so any way i called Sunday 1230 and told yeah all set it was done yesterday lol nobody called! I pull into pick it up and it doesnt have any of the hub caps on it even though I was told it was all set SMH Again!Pay him go get in to leave and the tire pressure lights on, I tell him he say ya just gotta drive it lol again!! No ya have to program each tire sensor he complies and does what needs to be done and guess what no more light! Any price was good but I doubt Ill be going there again

Only giving some stars because we appreciate Rays service. Always had excellent customer service at this site in troy with Ray. He has excellent customer service skill And communication and gets the job done.Unfortunately one of his staff (i assume he is management) is rude and unprofessional and i dont trust my vehicle with there unless Ray does the work. Had a terrible encounter with Jerry who had -0- customer service, -0- filter, he is rude mouthy and falsely bad mouths service of his management. We go there looking for professionalism not anything less. He made threats to note my account that if i didnt do the work there my warranty would not be honored any longer. He hadnt even looked at my car yet he was going by what i told him i believed to be wrong. i take good care of my car i dont need to be micromanaged by him.As a long time professional secret shopper i will tell you he ruined our experience at mavis in one visit. We took our vehicle back. He even told us after seeing my mechanic (of many years) bill with further recommendations for tire stuff that i got a great deal on what he did with and id never get those prices with him. That makes me not trust anything. He continued to my husband that he will never be our family mechanic or do favors which have never been expected or asked of what so ever! To even implicate such to a customer is unacceptable and we will never go back! This is not to get him in trouble but to simply give a professional option for more trainingHe informed us he is more corporate than others and to me if thats how corporate acts thats even a bigger problem

Well I honestly went in there in an emergency my radiator hose is blue they did take care of me very well after paying $570 then I questioned them about tires for my car they told me it would be over a little bit of $500 again and I dont understand if you buy tires from a place why doesnt the alignment and stuff like that come with the tires youre already buying the tires from the place Im a little confused on that part but other than that I do like Mavis and I want to thank them for taking care of my car in an emergency they didnt turn me away and I should say very friendly

I took my truck in for an oil change, four new tires and an alignment. It was about $800. I have a big truck thats fine, whats not fine is that on the way home I realized my whole truck was shaking. When I took it back they said my tires were a little off-balance, they fixed it. When I left I realized it was shaking even worse than before, and also my truck pull so far to the right, I am wondering if my axle is damaged. I have to take it to a garage somewhere else besides Mavis to confirm, but I sure as heck will never come to another Mavis, and I hope no one else does either. My family is not safe in my truck anymore and it was earlier this week. Nothing is more important than keeping my family safe and Mavis took that away from me. If I have to buy a new truck, I dont know what we will do, this is a damn pandemic.

Worse experience ever!! I got 4 new tires for around $500 told me I would receive alignment and I did not get it. For that price I think I should get everything. On top of that they left my car unlocked and windows down!!! Car got wet just because they decided to Roll down the windows. That was really unprofessional. Never again!!!

Wish they would clear the low tire light when I ask them to fix a low tire pressure issue. Tpms also did not work, but had to go back and ask them to clear the light/identify another issue.

I went w/ the recommendation of a friend, I had a nail in my tire, I was losing air. I was tired of refilling that tire. I find often times, being a Woman, Service Stations, tend to take advantage of Woman thinking that we dont know about cars. I was trained by Ex Husband, so that I wouldnt be taken for a ride, if you can understand what I am saying. Anyway, these Gentlemen, NOT ONLY assisted me, found other things wrong with my truck, explained what needed to be done 1st, then 2nd. Overall, they won me over, I would recommend this team at Mavis on 5th Avenue in Troy.

Hands down some of the best car service Ive had in years. After filling up my tires across the street, the air compressor handle snapped off the tip of my tires valve stem. I called Mavis immediately and a staff person named Kyle got my car up on the lift in minutes, diagnosed the issue and repaired the stem quickly. Thanks to Kyle, my wife and I are still able to travel to Vermont for our planned vacation. Major two thumbs up!

I dropped of a 2008 Toyota Yaris and specifically asked them to use the torque wrench instead of a torque stick because I didnt them to over-torque the nuts. When I picked up the vehicle and asked the tech checking us out he said that they used the 115 ft-lb torque stick, so I dont need to worry. They then checked it was tight enough using a 90 ft-lb torque wrench. I pointed out that 115 ft-lb is way over the torque spec, and he told me no it isnt. His chart says to do 100 ft-lb, so 115 ft-lb isnt over torqued. I told him 100 ft-lb is too high and that the lug nuts are designed to be used to 90% of their elastic limit. He went way over that and permanently deformed them. He ranted about how he has been doing this for years and he didnt ruin anything. He did it to the manufacturers spec. He did it the right way. The owners manual of the 2008 yaris says to torque to 76 ft-lb. This means he torqued to 150% of the correct value. I contacted mavis via phone and email. Without ever contacting me back they closed my ticket. Do not go here unless you want people who dont know the first thing about a car to work on your car.Update 5/1 in response to owner: I submitted 2 tickets - one online and one I called in. I never heard back from either and received an email saying my ticket was closed on April 23rd.

This Mavis location tried to extort $400 out of my wife for tires she didnt need.My wife went to get her car inspected at Mavis yesterday. They told her it wouldn’t pass without four brand new tires. That was a blatant lie. I called them when I got home from work to ask what was wrong with the tires; the guy said that cords were showing through the sidewall... before asking which car we were talking about. Either everyones tires have the same problem or thats their go-to lie to try to reel you in, Im guessing the latter. I asked if these tires would pass inspection anywhere else. He said there’s absolutely no way they would pass without all four being replaced. An hour later the car (with those same bad tires) passed inspection (by a place that subsequently did not sell tires). Completely unethical way to conduct a business. If I could give them less than 1 star I would.

It’s 5 minutes to the hour of 6 pm and I have a slow leak in my tire that needs to be fixed. I go to Firestone which is across the street from Mavis only to be told there closing in 5 minutes. I said “your” website says you don’t close for another hour. He basically said I know but it’s wrong and gave his apologies. I went across the street to Mavis, It’s now 1 minute to there 6 pm closing and they said “what do you need.” Not only did they fix my tire but there was no charge! Next time I have a car issue I’ll start with Mavis.

Worst place to go !!!!This place is the worst place to go for service. I went yesterday to replace a tire and drop the wheel telling them that I will come back in 1 hr. I come back after 3 hrs and still they have not started the work on my tire. When questioned instead of an apology, the man at the counter started saying he never promised that it will be done in 1 hr. They started to work on my tire and it took them another hr to install the tire on my SUV. The guy working on the balancing tire did not know how to balance and needed others to help him. The same guy did not know how to put my spare back in SUV which had spare stored below trunk. He started asking me how to put the tire back instead of his colleague. And when challenged that how he will not know how to install spare when working for tire shop, he got upset and started threatening me and my son. The other guys in the shop told me that since it is my car, I should know how to put the spare back and it is not his job to know. Finally the counter guy come and try to install but he also did not know how to do that and I have to help him screw the bolts and tighten the lock. In my life I never had to deal with so incompetent technicians at a tire shop. I had fairly good experience at other Mavis stores but this Troy store is worst ever I can imagine. At the end of all this they told me that they are doing some type of obligation to me by their service. Worst ever experience !!!

Never will evee go back there again waste of time, they try to get so much money from you of stuff that you really dont need for your car so much bull s---t they cheat you out i would go to another professional mechanic who knows his job to be very honest and would take care of your vechile etc.

On friday they said come in at 9am on Saturday. So at 9am I was there. At 1115 when they started working on my car, they called me into the garage to tell me that they only had 1 of the 4 tires I had agreed to online, but they could give me 4 tires Ive never heard of. So 502 dollars later, I have new unheard of tires... I cant even find them on their website. How F ed up is that
